I am new to the rooting seen. I have researched rooting my Samsung Galaxy Mega 6.3 and found numerous way which dont work. I have the At&t version of this phone and none of the methods are working. I am wondering if there is a way to do this or if it is still not able to do so. I am also looking to get a a unlock code for this phone and am wondering if there is any way of obtaining one for free, if not what is the cheapest and safest site to get the code.
Be leary of unlock codes. Many sites are out to steal your money and will not give you a code. BEWARE.

Your root methods don't work because if you are upgraded to KK, they don't work. You may want to consider yourself very luck you have tried outdated methods for other OS' s and your phone still works.
To spare your device, you may want to read a bit more.
If you have had your device or service for an extended amount of time, AT&T will many times give you unlock code for free. Or if you are military and traveling overseas. Otherwise a more trusted site like "cell unlocker" will charge $20 - $30 for a code if you can trust them to email code in 24 to 48 hours. Many have had success with them and probably one of more reputable.
You should be more careful if you are new to this world.
Good luck

I understand there are two ways to unlock your HTC aria.
One is to buy the unlock codes on some website.
The second, free way is to call AT&T after three months and they will unlock it for free.
However, I have called AT&T twice and they don't have the unlock code available even after giving them my IMEI number. I'm puzzled by this. Is anyone else having the same problem? They said the computer or database don't have the Aria unlock code in the system. What's going on here?
Big brother just tricked you. They are tracking you now. Throw the phone away. Use cash only. Don't use your real name.

AT&T doesn't have to give you the unlock code for the Aria until the exclusivity for that device has expired. Your only choice for now is to unlock it using a third party website.
Get the unlock code through a website like the most of us did, its just $15 or $20 bucks and they send you an email with the code almost instantly..

be sure to search ebay first. i found an unlock code for my backflip for only 2 dollars, the same for a few other phones I've had!
!
You know...I'd be interested to find out how these unlock codes are generated...seems like people are robbing people of their money when they are selling these things...it probably isn't the easiest thing in the world to figure the algorithm out (if that's how they do it) but i can only imagine that once you do figure it out, it's a short process thereafter to generate unlock codes for people based on whatever information they need...

there is software that does this. unfortunately i think they require a USB Dongle to run the s/w and it is expensive.... until the Russians crack it anyway. LOL
anyone suggest a reliable unlocking site?? there are so many scams out there taking money and not producing a usable code.
Most of the unlock website I found are reliable as far as give me money back when they can't get it. ATT and quite a few inexpensive website can't unlock my Aria. Some on top of refund, give me free unlock code for future. I end up found someone said "doing it manually". Took him 3 day and $25 later, he gave me the code.

rooting just gives you the "ultimate-true-genuine" etc rights to modify the phone the way you want it
to unlock the phone it's a different story. You will only need to unlock it if you're traveling outside the US
Or to switch to T-mobile.

Last sentence not quite correct; a clarification. You don't need to unlock if you travel outside the US. The Aria works just fine in other countries; you will incur additional costs as a result because you are roaming on foreign networks but AT&T has plans you can buy ahead of time and terminate when you get back home. Now the clarification part: if you do have an unlocked phone you can use a SIM card from other providers in other countries (which you will have to purchase or borrow from someone that lives there). Unlocking simply allows you to use another SIM cards, fore example, like Tmobile (a GSM network) in the US. If you don't unlock, your are limited to AT&T SIM cards. Unlocking is really not necessary unless you want to run on different networks in the US and outside the US.
Don't worry i will help you...You can get the Unlock code better from Online site,Basically network provider ask you to wait to get the code from them, they will give the code,it's available in Data base,So if you need Code immediately means you can get the unlock code from here www.Superunlockcodes.com and get the free unlocking instructions from here Mobileunlockguide.com and unlock it step by step.

I travel quite a lot through Europe and since AT&T's roaming charges are quite high, I had to unlock my Aria so that I can use local GSM carriers over there. I used www.cellunlocker.net last year. Their "regular" service for $4.99 was not able to produce the code for my Aria and they gave me a refund. I then purchased their "advanced" service for $19.99 and had the unlock code in 3 hours.
One more note about the benefit of unlocking: Once your phone is unlocked, it stays unlocked. So you need to purchase and use the unlock code only once.
it's a maybe
i think you gain s-off you can unlock it ..

I've been searching and seen that AT&T didn't provide unlock codes for new phones, but must give them after 10 month from launch. Since it's about the time frame for the Aria, I was wondering if anyone tried to get the code from AT&T.
Do you have to be an AT&T customer? if I'm buying a used phone can I ask for the code also?
thx
Here are the official "rules" for unlock codes: http://www.att.com/esupport/article.jsp?sid=55002&cv=820#fbid=0yQi8JC0xlj
Even if they won't give you the unlock code, you can get them relatively cheaply online so you've always got options.
thanks that I was looking for.
Still don't get from this if they will give the code to a non-customer, but I guess I'll just to call and ask them.
Hello XDA,
I have been here a lot of times, but didn't remember my essential info to log on as before.
I was in USA recently and someone stole my backpack. I went to t mobile, to buy a phone. And I specified, I need it to be unlocked because in a month I am flying back home. I paid the device normal price 350 dollars for an S3 and got it or 300 dollars don't remember. I am now home and the device doesn't work. And I want to unlock it and remove the T mobile firmware.
is it possible?
Regards
Mario

Not sure where the lie is...? They don't sell the phones unlocked, even when purchased out right. If you were told that, most likely the CSR just didn't know what they were talking(common) about rather than actively lying to you. You should be able to contact their customer service to obtain an unlock code though if you have proof of purchase. Other than that, if it isn't updated (not likely) past 4.1.2 you can unlock it yourself via hidden menu. If you are on 4.3, this method no longer works that I have seen and you'll need to purchase an unlock code from a reputable source if T-Mobile refuses to help or you are unable to provide them with the necessary details for them to give you the code.

I asked her like 4 times. Will it work in my country? The answer was yes, and the last time was, are you going to ask me again sir?
Can someone direct me to the secret menu? I am in my country now. Will it unlock?
I am on odin and I cant flash back the 4.1.1. why is that. If I flash it back I will be able to use the secret code
So, you got it from the US, and not you are home (can I as where?) and it doesn't accept your sim card?
Do you have an authentic receipt with the full price, and/or proof of purchase?
if so you can contact an authorized Samsung dealer in your area and describe the issue, and they will give you the unlock codes.
Something similar happened to me: I bought a brand new Galaxy S3 from Europe and sent it as a gift to the Middle east, where it didn't work, but with the receipt and some patience (a week/10 days), Samsung sent us the unlock codes.

No, once you update to latest version (4.3) with its modem, you can't use old unlock codes (unless you backed up your EFS), but I guess your only hope is Samsung, try them first.

Have you tried cellunlocker.net??? i was able to get my unlocked from them in minutes. There is also away to get a discount if you make a video. I dont think there is a way to unlock it other wise.

yes they failed but did return my money lol so they are not thieves lol
i went to my local cell bros and they did it for 20$
Lately there are many offerings of this device for around $20.
For that price, my very good friend who is a Tracfone user bought one & is glad he did, except that it is all filled up with the usual bloatware junk & I am trying to help him with it.
Spent all day today searching here & other places, but pretty much everything points to the bootloader unlocker at the maker's site...
It is the XT830C with 4.4.4 and is not eligible for the bootloader unlock from the maker.
Checking at the Lenovo/Motorola site confirms this - because it is a Tracfone.
Apparently there are some 3rd party sites which claim to get around this, but from what I can find they are not legit or trustworthy & all are wanting payments.
Just to see if I could even gain temp root I tried every tool that I've got and none worked.
This surprises me as I had helped with another Moto E before (Suria vs. Condor) and was able to flash it to a different ROM to gain root - but this one seems a dead end thus far.
Is there any pointers, tricks or anything that might help me to get this done, please ??
Thanks.
