Need help rooting LG lucid 3 4.4.2 kit Kat vs87611B - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

ello. About a month ago I learned about phone rooting..and I am unable to successfully do it. I don't want to use a computer, must be off my phone but I have tries every single method I've read up on or seen on YouTube. (Framaroot,vroot,rootmaster,z4,LGpwn,towelroot) those are just some to name, none of which work. I'm starting to feel like my phone is unrootable and I'm getting annoyed. If anyone is able to help please let me know. Like I said I have a LG lucid 3 with kitkat4.4.2 and the model is vs87611B

Man there is NO development for this phone. Sadly if your new to rooting/ hacking/ wtv on androids you'll need a different phone to practice with. I've been doing EVERYTHING for YEARS when it comes to Android. A dozen different devices all rooted, flashed, unlocked, etc. And NOW I have this... LG 876... aka PAPERWEIGHT We can only hope some savvy dev is stuck with one too somewhere... Rooting would help with the bloatware as you could install titanium and do a lot. But Really you need custom ROM's. Preferably CyanogenMod. Or ASOP.

New to the Optimus One

Hey there,
I just ordered an Optimus One (P500) as a temporary phone (for the remaining 8-9 months until I get an upgrade on my contract). So, to start with, I want to root my phone, but I don't want a custom ROM since I understand in a few months 2.3 is coming officially anyway. If I root, will I be unable to update when the official update comes along?
Also, any issues/problems with this phone I should know about.
I'm not new to the Android scene, I was a early(ish) adopter of it, with my previous phone being a Samsung Galaxy Portal/Spica (i5700), it was a good phone however it has far too little RAM (128MB I believe! - although a nice 800MHZ processor but you couldn't tell that it has this by using the phone it's so slow) and has recently become extremely sluggish.
Anyway, just saying hello, I suspect I'll be roaming around on these forums for some time to come once I get my Optimus One
Cheers!
Acoole
Yes. You can root your phone presently and still upgrade to the next version when it comes along, but be aware that you will lose the root privilages when you do so.

[Q] Rooting, Flashing, Custom ROM questions from a noob!

Hi everyone,
I am new to the android world having just bought a galaxy s2, so please be gentle. I'm a previous iphone owner and always hated the restrictions apple put on their phones and dictated the way I could use my handset! I've since moved over to android and my first impressions are OMFG, how confusing is all of this!! I'm not techphobic by any means but I am struggling to piece together how the world of android works and I have spent a lot of time reading various things about ROMs, rooting, flashing, kernels etc... but I am getting more and more confused!
I recently bought a Galaxy S2 which is running a custom ICS ROM on it (resurrection remix 1.0) and also has CWM on it. Having looked at the forums i can see that another version in out (1.3 i believe) but i'm very hesitant to try a flash as i dont want to screw my phone.
The way I see it i've got two choices, either try and reset the phone to stock so that warranty etc... remains uneffected and then update to ics through kies when its available or try and install a later version of one the ics ROM's that are availabe. I was wondering to that end if you lovely people coudl give me some guidance.
If I were to reset my phone to stock how do i do this bearing in mind i am confused about
a) what kernels are in the first place and
b) which one i woudl need for my phone and will I need a usb jig for this?
c) -i need to unroot my phone to return it to stock and if so how do i do this
also:
-what is the difference between an insecure and secure kernal
-if i flash my phone to a newer version of ics can i revert back to 1.0 as at the mo apart from the odd app crashing here and there I'm not having any probs with it.
I'm reading about GAPPS and APKs and dont know what the hell these are either but they keep popping up every so often.....basically i'm confused and on the verge of a breakdown!!
Please could somebody help mw with this and massive apologies if i've posted where i shoudnt have.
Thanks in advance
Saf
If you had taken the same time took for typing here to search and read you would have learnt almost everything...

Appreciate what you're saying mate and thank you for taking the time to reply. I have been reading various threads over the last day or so but the problem is when something like this which is quite techinical is completely new territory you dont know where to start. Google throws up page after page of stuff that doesnt make much sense and i've searched on the forums here and read up on quite a bit but again am not sure if i've grasped it.
problem is I didnt install the custom ROM on the phone, i bought it like this and to do anything further with it i dont know if i need to go back to the original owner with more questions or can i just go ahead and start tinkering with it without knowing what software was originally on the phone? (bearing in mind that various posts state that you need certain software which is as close to the original one as possible)
Thanks anyway
Saf
this is the stage which passed by all the noobs including me, dont worry
Your strating treble will only be over when you start flashing a ROM,
cool.
ima go ahead and try and install version 1.3 of resurrestion remix! Wish me luck hehe!!
Good luck,
dont forget to follow the steps mentioned the ROM thread atleast...

Ontop nugget d5.. Need a custom rom

Hi guys,
My phone is an Ontop nugget d5, and no one seems to have heard of it, it's a phone available from staples in Canada, it's a relatively cheap phone, with decent specs
I want to put an OS like cyanogenmod, but of course no one knows what kind of phone this is, and I am not a coder, or even know where to begin. The phone has a custom build on top of Android, and it kinda sucks, and it's only Android 4.1.2
Can someone help me? I don't know if it's easy or not to be able to put a rom like cyanogenmod, but I have no clue how to code, and I'm desperate to change the OS on this phone
Please anyone willing to help?

This is the reason why I've yet to get one these devices. Lots of low cost devices out of other places that have no custom roms either. Kinda makes me sad that only the expensive devices get custom roms. (except for maybe the nexus devices)

I know you guys are looking for a custom ROM (as was I), but I was happy to settle for rooting the D5.
First I installed SuperOneClick, clicked on the "Advanced" tab, and clicked "Check Drivers". That downloaded the MT65xx USB drivers. Afterwards, I followed the instructions for Framaroot 1.9.1 and got root (SuperSu binary was installed). Easy as pie.

Thank you for this answer, I am in the same situation, but I cannot open the SUperOneClick file on my Phone. And I wonder which version of SuperOneClic file I should have downloaded.
Could you help me ?

I'm a N00B all over again, sigh.

I am an an old modder. I started way back modding my non android phones like my Razor lol . Then when we got Androids I rooted and rom'd them for years. Then for the last 3 years I didn't root.
BUT, finally got the bug to root and did so (after trying a lot of unsuccessful methods for my LS990).
I feel like a noob now. :X I don't remember enough to feel like I won't brick my phone.
Main questions :
1. Is there a guide to refresh me on the whole root/rom flash process for my G3 LS990 ZVA?
2. Thread for.. Known issues to avoid on my G3 LS990 ZVA? Like do this now to avoid this OR DON'T EVER DO THIS!
3. Unroot. Best method atm?
[emoji12] yes I've searched and found many things but I know enough to be dangerous and am outdated enough to be lost and confused and dangerous!
Go with this, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=54912191 and this, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=55225699. It'll give you the best chance of no issues.

LG Lucid 3 Verizon Custom Roms?

I've already rooted my LG Lucid 3. I've had this phone for a long time now and i know its already outdated, but I've never been able to find any custom roms for it. Its really annoying after waiting so long to see if any would pop up. I just want a stock android experience on this phone, without all the disgusting LG software. Please help? If you know of any compatible roms i could flash to it, that would work too.
