Ironically, that is only from scrolling down the first page. It is really hard to convince developers and contributors to stop being so hostile to people over searching with posts that didn't even require searching to answer. Don't prove they have a good reason.

Increasing Main Memory

My unit's main memory is 32MB. Is there any way to increase the main memory capacity. If yes, please let me know how I can do that.
My appology if this question has been asked before, but i could not find an answer in the forum.
thanks...

It's not a DIY job. www.expansys-usa.com/product.asp?code=XDA-032-064RAM&asource=105357
can do it for $132.95. I had a 32 meg XDA, but went for an XDA 2 rather than a memory upgrade though.

[Q] Still worth partitioning?

I have a class 10 32GB card in my phone and I do realize the GS II is leaps and bounds ahead of older devices like the G1 and the original MyTouch 3G... So I was wondering if there was still any reason for me to partition the SD card *I have a lot of dead space since I moved all my music collection that was on my phone to Google Music...*
If it's still worth doing what sizes should I set for the partition and the swapfile?
Do I need to run a certain rom to take advantage of this or will it work with all roms?
Or, should I not bother...
Also is it better to keep my apps on the internal memory of the phone or my own SD card? Which will give better overall performance?
Thanks.

And let me add to that, what if one has a 64GB card. Would partitioning increase speeds?
LOL. yes, also a good question ;-)
Can no one answer this?
I left my 64gb card as is. It's functioning quite well for me

Let me ask you this: Why was the swapfile necessary/useful on the G1 and other such devices?
Once you answer that question, compare the answer to your SGS2 and ask yourself if the answer still applies.
Then you'll have your answer to your original question.
Here, I'll save you some time. The SGS2 does not need a swapfile.

Moving apps to sd not working ?

Hi, just received the phone today. I'm trying to put some apps and stuff on my sandisk 64.gb but using app2.sd and app manager there doesn't seem to be an option. The sd card is showing in settings menu as 59gb.
How can I put stuff on it?
Sent from my Galaxy S3 using XDA
Why would you want to put your apps on the SD card? There is masses of space on the phones internal memory you'll be hard pushed to fill it.
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA
any good reasons for moving it to external sd????
btw looking at your post count i think you missed a bit of info. sgs3 uses the whole internal memory(11gb) for apps along with user data. so there is no need for app2sd
I just checked as well. I don't see that option with any of my apps using the Application manager. I'm using stock LEF firmware.

It's a standard Android option, so it should have been included in the ROMs that Samsung designed in my opinion. Some people would like to use their 11GB of storage for other things, but have a huge external memory card.....just a matter of preference, no need to insult the person because of low posts.

don't jump to conclusions and make assumptions. I have 32gb on my phone and have used 16gb for apps. So no, 11gb would not cut it for me as well as others. your use of a phone is not the same as everyone. You are not the standard.
Why must the op provide YOU with a good reason to? Are you some sort of phone police?
Either provide a useful solution or find another thread to spread your ignorance.

its not an insult mate.. he might be missing that info hence i conveyed it to him. apart from gnexus and sgs3 all the mobile have limited data partitions which forces the need for app2sd, thats not the case with sgs3.
there are already many threads for this same thing , if the op searched for it he would have seen that info.

your usage also wont set the standard for anyone, i just said the way how sgs3 handles apps.there is nothing wrong in asking a reason.

Because he wants to isn't a good enough reason? Since when does post count determine how much lurking/reading someone has done on the forum? YOU may not have a need to but many of us do, whether you agree or not.

first of all nothing is said in an offensive way but its been understood in an offensive way. If the op has read enough then why do he post a question thats already been discussed? a simple search would have helped him to get other members opinion.
i agree with the point that there are many who read a lot here but dosent posts.
btw, stay on topic and try helping the op if you can

Hopefully developers will get this fixed sooner rather than later.

It just gets tiresome hearing people try to dismiss the wants and wishes of another member just because they don't have the same. If we all wanted the same bs we'd all have iPhones for crying out loud. Embrace the differences!
I dont think 11gb is quite big for GAMES, i have installed max payne and its a 1.3gb game, some HD games dont go lower than 400mb.
So yes I need to move apps to the external SD. hoping to hear some updates about this
GL to SD
Guy until the developers find some solid solution you can use GL to SD app from market. It would move the Game Loft games from internal SD Card to External SD card. Although this app is for Game Loft games but it works for any game which install its data files in /sdcard/android/data or /sdcard/data folder.
Move them using the GL to SD and in the settings of GL to SD check the option /sdcard/Android under add mounted folder. Once done then price mount button the top of GL to SD app and then press menu and exit (don't press unmount and exit otherwise it would not work). This would mount your external SD card as /sdcard/android. If GL to SD fail to move the games to SD card then you can even do it manually by copying games data folder from /sdcard/android/data to /extsdcard/data and do the same procedure as above.
I am very poor in explaining things but I hope that I am able to explain it properly.

Which SD Cards Work With S5830i?

I saw a old thread similar to this but I wanted to post a new one because:
I have a 32gb class 10 San Disk sd card and it doesn't work with my phone. It doesn't readily read, i have to keep on reinserting it, and at times my phone asks to format it because its broken. I use a custom rom (razo droid latest version).
Which 32GB sd cards are reliable and definitely work with this phone? If people reply with one's that don't, I don't mind editing the first post with a list of SD cards to stay away from with this phone.
Nice development thread you got here. Is it too hard to go to the General section instead of development?
Try to ask it here
You will get more answers

I'm terribly sorry for making such a stupid mistake. Really I am, I know I'm a noob, and unfortunately too many people like me are here, sorry.
Going back to the post, from first hand experience should
san disk class 10 32gb micro sd card work on a custom rom of s5830i?
So what he accidentally posted in the wrong section, everyone makes mistakes... what I find funny is the fact that the people who are making fun of him attempt to do so with what they undoubtedly believe are witty comments and comebacks, but half the time they don't make sense and end up failing completely
To those of you who simply reported it to get it moved to the general section you're clearly more mature than most, especially those who simply have to post cocky comments
Back to the question now, I think 32 gig is supported, I had a problem like yours with my brand new 8 gig SD card it turns out there was a problem with it,i got it exchanged and everything works perfectly now, I suggest getting it checked out or exchanged especially if your phone keeps saying to format it because its damaged or unable to read it

How do you ID resource hogs?

Is there a way to watch CPU or I/O demand of applications on the android. It's pretty obvious when one app goes rogue, but what if you phone isn't totally slowed, but something is off. Any way to help identify which apps. require the more resource to then consider removal?

Do you expect people prove that they have done hours of searching on the site before posting a question?
BTW, your search suggestion didn't even address my question.
My question has to do with rogue applications that slow down my phone, I'm not looking for applications that drain the battery.
I'm assuming the apps resource utilization:. Memory, CPU, Network or other is the root cause. Some apps could potentially cause
phone sluggishness without killing the battery; constant network pinging or other buggy behaviors.
For example: I've learned that the issue may have to do with android memory management, in general it's apparently slow.
This would make sense because I've loaded quite a bit of applications on my phone by using link2sd. I was expecting a performance boost now that I've moved the majority of my applications off of the phone and freeing up internal phone storage. However, this hasn't helped.
I'm not just looking for apps, but also suggestions or tips and tricks on how to figure phone performance issues...
Regards,
Mike

Now had you made your OP such a post then my reply may have been different or I wouldn't have replied at all, but even so, Android isn't new and searching is going to give you better answers by reading what's been posted before which you seem to have been doing, which only takes you so far. Have you tried build.prop or init.d scripts to try and speed things up?
