[Q] Menu Softbutton - HTC Desire 610

Is there any *non root* way of getting a menu soft button?
I don't want to have to root this phone as I enjoy the convenience of Mobile Banking.

I have root and use mobile banking on mine. But not that I'm aware of... Button savior requires root I believe.

Barclay's have a restriction which force people to be unrooted AND stock to use their app. Nobody has found a way around it yet.

You can't use rootcloak? I'd probably be looking for a different bank myself.

Overlocking, Webtop Browsers, and Softkeys Questions.

Hi, I just got my atrix 4g for a couple of week. I currently using Alien rom and has hacked my lapdock to use full ubuntu. I got a few questions regarding the phone and the lapdock. Any help is greatly appreciated.
1/ Alien rom use kernel that has overlocking function. Do I need any special inatallations to use it or can I just grab one of those CPU control app on the market and use them?
2/ I followed the stickie guide in general section to upgrade my lapdock to use full ubuntu using webtop2sd. However, the firefox application on my lapdock keep crashing. The the google chrome browser cant access any of the google services. It keeps saying the the website was down or has been moved. How do I fix these issues?
3/ when you quickly press the home soft key twice, it launches the stock web browser. Is there anyway to remap this function to launch other apps? And apply it to other key also? Theres is an app on the market that did this, however it limit to only long pressing the search key. However, this seemed to be built in to os itself so I think we might be able to have a broader options to use softkey to launch applications.
Thanks.

settings/manage applications/double tap home to launch
your can only choose from what's listed on the options, I believe. don't know if there's any mods to allow other apps to be able to open with that method.
if anyone knows otherwise, that info would be greatly be appreciated.

[Q] Hide screen reading (and maybe root)

A few weeks ago, my banks decided to introduce a "pushTAN" option for their online banking interfaces where you have to install an app on your phone - both use the same one, developed by some software company - and TANs are then sent to the phone as a push notification. Sounds nice, but the app obviously wants to "protect" me and closes every time I launch it because it detected "suspicious screen reading activity" - of course, because I got the great AutoInput and AutoVoice Tasker plugins installed which need to be granted screen reading permissions in the accessibility settings.
This is bad because I really need to use the pushTAN apps (one bank only has the old-fashioned TAN list which I want to get rid of and the other one decided to charge money for their smsTAN option) and I don't want to be required to change the permissions every time I need to receive a TAN on the phone.
My question: Is there a way to hide screen reading rights (and maybe root because I think about rooting my phone and I'm pretty sure the app will detect that, too) from a specific app?
Or is it possible to set up a Tasker action which toggles the rights when I launch the app and toggles them back when I quit it?
Does anybody have an advice for me?
I would be interested, too.

[No root] What does "pm hide" do exactly?

Hello
I have a question regarding the "pm hide". I know that it can be used to remove bloatware on a non-rooted device.
But what happens exactly under the hood? Is the app disabled? Can it still run in the background andere use resources?
Can this debloating technique have an impact on the speed and fluency of the device?
Thanks in advance!

I don't know about non-rooted devices, but on my rooted device it did strange things.
I wanted to hide some apps from the drawer, and thought it could be useful, but it did a bit more than just hiding from the drawer: the apps hidden with it were hidden from the drawer, yes, but were also hidden from the installed apps list (From settings), from Titanium backup list (they showed as uninstalled), in the store I had the button to install the app, as if it were not there. root browser showed the apk were still present in the /data/app...
One app was a key for the trial version, the trial version still reported as Pro, so in some way it detected the presence of the key. another was a plugin for Tasker, and Tasker said it cannot find the plugin, so there is a no go...
I went back and unhide them all, I don't want to risk an unbootable device.

Best Non-Root "Find my Phone" app?

Hi
Using OP6T without root - don't want to root it, and i'm looking for a fair app to replace Cerberus (which requires root)
Can you recommend such app that it is free or paid, that have similar features as Cerberus, and don't require root access to work?
e.g.
Locate phone
Wipe phone
Send alert to phone
Switch ringer mode (silent to full sound etc.)
Lock with new password
Web GUI
etc.
Your recommendations much appreciated
Thanks!

Question Did not root

I rooted all of the phones I have had since my first Android phone. However, a few apps that I use either would not work or would not work correctly with root, even when it was possible to still use Magisk hide.
Meanwhile, the only thing I was actually doing that needed root was using an adblocker, so I decided to try using this new Pixel 6 without root.
I have to say that I do miss having an adblocker.
Try the Brave browser, it will take care of website ads at least.

Nothing beats a true hosts adblocker. Works universally. Also nothing beats being able to perform a full proper backup of your phone in case something happens. And finally, nothing beats being able to rid your phone of all that "gapps" spyware/tracking/backdoors.
As you can tell, I'm an advocate for root. But weild it with responsibility.
Search 'DNS' in settings. Then enter 'dns.adguard.com' into 'Private DNS' and you'll have onboard adblocking!
I am also in the position you are as I have rooted all my phones since HTC Desire, primarily as I hate ads. This is a lifesaver and means I don't need root for the first time.
