Anyone figure out how to get wifi tethering working?
I used to use "Wifi Tethering for Root Users" but it doesnt seem to be working any more.
I think there was a modified version that I had used but cant remember where I grabbed it from...
Any help will be appreciated.

Doesnt seem to work anymore.
Disabled Tethering Guard and ran the program but it doesnt show any access point from my phone...
should note that i am on 4.4.

HI i bought Samsung Galaxy S from Tmobile today
anyway my question is about WIFI TETHER, i have root it i think coz i see SUPERUSER PERMISSION
then i install wifi tether then this is what happen. I CLICK WIRELESE TETHERING it show running but then i could not get my laptop to work or connected
and it show download 0.0KBPS all the time
how can i fix this and make my WIFI TETHER WORKS

im running 2.0.5-pre7 on my Vibrant. Seems to work perfect.
What version are you running?
Also, be sure that your laptop can use "AD-HOC" networks as the tether app sets the phone up that way.
I know that my Nook can not use adhoc - therefor cant even see the tether network.
I would seriously recommend getting rid of WT or Barnacle (big fan of both) and use the tether app that was on the international galaxy that was removed from the carriers.... here is where I found it. It is truly a lot better!

Take note, this is not an app in your drawer, its in your settings (first post explains it). I dont think you will have ANY issues with it.
you have to be rooted to use it.
hi, i currently have a vibrant with bionix 1.3.1 installed,
i am having a problem that devices can connect to my hotspot ever since i have upgraded from ji6 to many different roms (they get an ip address) but they cant use data!
i have tried alot of tethering apps line wireless tether and other and most worked fine.
you might be saying :"why wont you just use those then?"
well, i need the awesome "hide my network" feature that's present on mobileAP,
i tried every other tethering app i could find but none have this feature.
any idea what am i doing wrong?
I have an HTC Vivid running Gingerbread 2.3.4. I see that in other versions I can edit the build.prop to bypass AT&T's tethering block, but none of the language in my file read anything close to the previous files.
The device is rooted and I have an editor. I also have downloaded apps that tether (and work, currently) but they only tether through wifi and I'd like to bypass it all together so that I can connect via USB, wifi or BT.
Anyone figured this out yet?

How do you have the wifi tether working? I am rooted also and I've tried tons and tons of wifi tether apps such as barnacle and wifi tether. Neither work. To answer your question though, easy tether products works fine for us tethering. I would be very greatly if you could help me wifi tether. You don't pay for it do you?
Ummmmm, nevermind lol. I just read another post that had the property settings for android wifi tether. I'm super happy now. I've been trying to this forever!

I just installed the new Paranoid Android, and I cannot seem to get the Portable Hotspot to work. I was using the stock rom, and Verizon's 'Mobile Hotspot' worked flawlessly after using the SQLite hack. I have tried Barnacle and Wifi Tether for Root Users (which used to be my go-to, until it just stopped working after an update). I cannot get any of these to work, as Wifi Tether comes up with the error, 'Tethering started with errors, please check 'show log''. When I check the log, there is nothing in it.
Any ideas on what is going on here? It is almost as if there is a messed up driver somewhere, but I am not knowledgeable enough to figure it out. Like I said, I used to have it running perfectly one day, then it seemed like all of my tethering apps wouldn't work. I resorted to using the built in Mobile Hotspot, and it started working fine again.
Strange thing, I also paid for FoxFi, and even that wouldn't work, which I found very odd..

Yeah, literally everything else on the the phone works as new.
When I was having trouble with Wifi Tether for Root Users, Barnacle, and FoxFi, I tried a factory reset via the Droid Razr Utility and it didn't change a thing. One of the beta versions of Wifi Tether turned on with no errors, but I could not find the SSID once it was supposedly turned on. After using the stock Mobile Hotspot with the SQLite hack, it works perfectly. But, when I go to ParanoidAndroid, it uses a different type of 'Mobile Hotspot' app named 'Portable Hotspot', and it just gives me an error (but no details, justs says error under it and then greys itself out.

I had an issue with 3.69 Paranoidandriod and had to do the terminal emulator hack to get wifi to work and that also somehow fixed my tether. If you haven't yet also try to run a fix permission and see if that will take care of things. I will test mine (currently running 3.97 as well) and get back with you later to let you know what I found.
Just saw that there's an update to Paranoidandroid which is 3.98 and he posted that he fixed the wifi tethering. Try to update and see what that does for you. I tried to fix permission on versino 3.97 and it didn't help. I tried terminal emulator b/c my wifi stopped working and that did fix that issue.
I just loaded it up, and still nothing. Now, when I try to turn on the hotspot, it just keeps saying 'Turning hotspot on...' and doesn't change. I tried connecting and it still is nowhere to be seen.
Are there any instructions out there for the terminal hack method, or a way that worked for you?
I hate to sound like such a noob. I havent got wifi tether to work on my [Sprint] HTC ONE MAX. At first i was just rooted and just using the app and couldnt get it to work. Then i wiped everything and use MOM ROM(MIlesOneMax) and i still cant get it to work. Looking on my phone theres no errors in log. Yet i cant find no other device computer, phone, etc... that see my phone for wifi. Am I doing something wrong,
drove me crazy for 2 weeks till somebody pointed me to right app, tried every wifi tether released and pdanet/foxfi, the only app that works for me is "wifi tether router" from the playstore....cost almost $2 but it works

Great support from the Wifi Teather Router developer, don't be afraid to contact them as they had very quick response for me.
The settings they gave me that worked for my One MAX on Verizon (rooted and s-off) was:
Interface wlan0
Method 3 - HostApd
Channel 1
Encryption wpa2-psk
Drivers nl80211
"HostApd Patch" <- UNCHECKED
