Need help/tips to unbrick phone. (hard brick?) - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

okay so here is the situation i am currently in.
i have a lg optimus f3 so its called on the tmobile network (lg-p659) as far as i have read on this forum my phone is currently "bricked". Right now what i'm trying to achieve is to get my phone into download mode, but as of far i have tried all button combo's and all the little battery tricks. i can't get my phone to do a damn thing. it just stays on a black screen no led backlight nothing.
Although when i do hook up my phone without the battery i get a prompt to install a driver for a so called "QHSUSB_DLOAD" i can not find the driver for this so when i try to run the KDZ program it fails at the point of trying to connect to the phone.
Please help... Thanks in advanced
EDIT: i no longer require help with this phone, as far as i'm concerned this thread is now dead and im moving on to flashing via ADB

*BUMP*

I appreciate the help and the good laugh i had at line 10 but i cannot get my phone into emergency mode. when i tried the button combo and connected the usb it just failed instantly to install and still was not detected on the KDZ program. the device that im getting when i hook up the usb is called "QHSUSB_DLOAD" and even with all the drivers i could ever find none of them would work for this and also not be detected in the program.
Perhaps i need to flash a new recovery img to the phone using abd? i dont know, i'm still learning about all this stuff and slowly getting one step further ahead of the crowd, so to speak.

Maybe JTAG would be your best bet.

i guess you have windows 8 or 8.1 installed..and you have to turn off the driver signing check first like this tutorial :disabling-signed-driver-enforcement-on-windows-8
and then install this driver :-
Qualcomm-Allx86-drp.exe
try this..n good luck :good:
and yes flashing via adb will be a whole lot better..just do it right...and this "QHSUSB_DLOAD" is usually due to a bad flash so fix it up by flashing properly.

yeah i was hoping it would not come down to that... If it is my only option i guess i will find someplace that can do it for me. cause i dont have the hardware to do such a thing none the less even figure out how to do it. other than that i think i might just retire this phone until something else comes up.
Thanks to all the peeps who replied giving info, much kudo's to you guys. :good:

hey..can you get into recovery or your phone is just dead?
well there are two modes for the device :-
1. power off the the phone and then press volume up and plug in the usb cable while doing that -download mode
2. power off the phone and then press power+ volume up button together and quickly plug in the usb the phone goes into emergency mode
try them both
also check in windows manager if any of the LG modems are active..if thats the case then disable them by right click option and then try KDZ updater and see if it works..if not repeat the points 1 and 2 and shake the life out of your device till it gives up and gets detected haha..also try taking battery off and then putting it back and plugging in usb then only.
and about adb i am not sure if it will work but you can always check if the device is being detected by adb using following command :-
adb devices
P.S. -
check in windows device manager the hardware vendor id of the device and then verify if you have it listed in C:\Users\(your username on pc)\.android\adb_usb.ini
if not then add the entry as
# ANDROID 3RD PARTY USB VENDOR ID LIST -- DO NOT EDIT.
# USE 'android update adb' TO GENERATE.
# 1 USB VENDOR ID PER LINE.
0x1949
0x18D1
0x04E8
the vendor is the 4 digits after 0x like mine device id is 04E8..if yours is not listed then add yours in next line and save it and restart computer and plug in ur device again and check if its detected.
In case there is no .android folder or adb_usb.ini file then downloadattachment, unzip and place it on the right location and restart. check the pictures if you dont get what i am saying..just on case lol

[HOWTO] Phone not responding at all - last chance to repair

Hi, because with last update increased count of people with bricket phone, I just tryed search for way how to repair this phone. It seems, that last possible way how to save your phone is emergency mode.
I would like to notify you, that I didn't tested it (I'm had not luck enough to brick my phone yet ). I just searched and tried write this for help to others.
So, let's go on.
1) If it's not possible connect to phone via ADB (in Adroid SDK/tools run "adb shell") at all you will try next steps. If it will work, you can use another, verified tools like custom recovery or KDZ_FW_UPD (search on forum for more) [HOWTO] Flash original firmware on P500, )
2) If you fail in previous step, you can try enter into emergency mode manually and try to flash ROM with KDZ_FW_UPD:
Download KDZ updater and uncompress it
http://www.4shared.com/file/UleS4dP3/KDZ_FW_UPD_EN.html
Install msxml.msi from the uncompressed directory
Charge your battery to almost full state (I'm not sure, but it can be reason if phone doesn't start)
Turn phone off somehow (remove battery etc.)
Install drivers properly
Get rid of all usb drivers like Nokia, microsoft visual ++ run time environments
Install the LG drivers by selecting the update manager from the lg site
Disable LGE Virtual Modem. In your Windows operating system, go to Control Panel > System > Hardware > Device Manager > Modems > Right click on LGE Virtual Modem and click Disable.
Press and keep pressed "Volume up"+"Return" and connect USB cable to phone
Yellow screen with text emergency mode should appeared
Shake the handset (I know, it sounds ... strange, but it helps for ones, so... why don't try it?) UPDATE: Read some quotes on bottom.
Run KDZ_FW_UPD.exe (Has administrator).
Select Type : 3GQCT (I have one report that CDMA mod works too)
Select PhoneMode : DIAG (in case of fail try EMERGENCY, and as last chance use CS_EMERGENCY)
I Recommend do not switch phone off. There was some people, which done it and after they were not be able to turn it on again. If flashing failed, just select some another mode and try it again, again, try shake/connect disconnect, again, again....
In KDZ file : Choose the ROM file you downloaded in the first step
Press Launch software update
Shake the handset (I know, it sounds ... strange, but it helps for ones, so... why don't try it?) UPDATE: Read some quotes on bottom.
Make sure that all update was done successfully. Phone should restart itself automatically
Disconnect the USB cable from the phone
Press the three button combo for HW reset of device i.e volume up + home + power button
List to do based on Zecanilis's [HOWTO] Flash original firmware on P500
3) Still no success? Wait for more "What I can do" or just go to LG and let repair on them.

Please let me know if it works. I just searched for way and I haven't possibility to test this steps for now. I will do update if it will be necessary, same as I will try describe more about software which I founded.
Some experiences from thread(s):
AVanover5: ...It works if you set the mode to CDMA and DIAG. Just to let people know. Not sure if it'd work without the recovery screen or not. I never tried it ironically, haha. Thank you guys.
geejay2: ...Bricking seems to be easily achieved by forgetting to disable the LG Modem driver. Apparently the modem driver interferes during flashing. Also I noted that kdz is not stable under Win2k, I switched to WinXP to flash successfully. I saw several aborted flashing attempts in WinXP with modem driver enabled.
domenic_s:KDZ_FW_UPD doesn't work (Application cannot start) -.- Using Windows 7 64bit version. //edit: allright tried another pc (win xp 32bit) and yeah - it worked... I'm so happy.

About shaking (sorry, but I still can't believe... )
salte_eskil:wow! shaking the phone really worked! seems kind of stupid but thanks to you all at the xda forum for tips and tricks
4wd vege: Now unbricked. Strangely kdz updater only saw my phone after shaking!!!
me2kimi:It sound crazy to shake the phone while at emergency mode. I's crazy but it magic. ...So what I do is connect to usb, Launch software update at kdz while shaking the phone. Then after that kdz is working like normal.

I tried with all possible combination.. with and without battery.. vol- home, vol + return, power vol+ home.. end more.. but phone don't turn on...
In meantimes the phone is in the service LG.. hope...
Exscuse me for my English
Did you had phone off before trying this? And also battery should be charged. I just added this things...
If event that it not show you emergency mode, LG service and warranty is probably the only way how to proceed. Sorry. But I will be searching if another way will exist...
Good work .. I hope that you will find a way to solve ... especially for other users .. good luck
Good work @The_ERROR.
It should work. I think you should also add that the phone mode should be set to Emergency (and not DIAG as mentioned) in the kdz updater.
Moved to development and stickied it for a while!
Thank you!

Recovery Phone?!
Hello,
Had anyone tried "Recovery Phone" from the LGMobile Update app? It's under the "Customer Support" menu. Enter IMEI or S/N and see if it can bring it up to life.
Cheers.

Not really. Gathered some info though. We use emergency mode when the phone boots into only emergency mode else we try CS emergency as last option.
In any case this method will work only if the kdz updater recognises the phone.

I was able to do the KDZ, actually thats the only way possible. Please add this to the list:
1. Get rid of all usb drivers like Nokia, microsoft visual ++ run time environments.
2. Install the LG drivers by selecting the update manager from the lg site.
3. Disable the modem driver.
4. Once done, reboot the handset and when it has come to emergency mode connect it via USB.
5. Its going to detect it as usb drive. Launch KDZ. No need to go into Emergency mode.
6. shake the handset - IT DID WORKED FOR ME.
My suggestion don't give up. It took me around 14 hours to bring the handset back to original firmware and here I am today trying to boot the rom once again.
7. UPDATE AND ENJOY.

Thanks, I will do!! Only about 4 and five.
First reboot the handset and when it has come to emergency mode connect it via USB
and then
It's going to detect it as usb drive. Launch KDZ. No need to go into Emergency mode.
So, whats about if phone didn't go into emrgency itself (for example stuck on Android logo)?

I am talking about phone getting into Emergency mode, KDZ doesn't need to switch to CS_EMERGENCY or EMERGENCY Switch off the phone first, then you are either connect it to USB cable or you can remove it from the USB cable. Key combination to bring the phone only in emergency mode are:
1. Connected to USB cable, only thing visible is the LG logo, this is because its getting charged. Press VOL UP + BACK BUTTON
2. Not connected to USB cable and is not charging and so switched off: Press VOL UP + BACK BUTTON + POWER BUTTON
In both the cases phone will switch to a yellow screen showing: "Emergency mode!!" and will remain like that.
It's only in Emergency mode that the handset will be detected like a USB drive and can be KDZed.
I seriously doubt the "Shake your phone part". It just sounds so ...
Peace

how can i install drivers without connecting device?
I solved the problem)
1) Open device manager in windows
2) Connect usb cable to your phone pushing vol up button
3) Device manager will show you fastboot device for 2-3 sec (before the phone go to charge mode) Right click on fastboot device and install drivers from C:\Android\sdk\extras\google\usb_driver
4) Reconnect usb cable pushing volup button
I have the same problem but I dont know if cuz my PC is way too slow. I dont even have a chance for it to show up But I know it connected cuz of the alert sound.

Haha I solved my problem by installing the driver in safe mode. Things went much quicker here )
The solution that worked for me was:
Keep the Device Manager open
Connect the phone and quickly choose to change driver
Disconnect the phone again (because it goes into normal mode)
Choose to install a driver from the computer, choose "All devices" and "have disk".
Browse to the folder with the .inf
Now, before clicking Next, connect the phone again and quickly hit Next.
I think it took me two hours of googling and trial before I could finally get a custom ROM installed...

Hey
I can't even know where will the fastboot device appear to change driver. What can I do? My sola goes in charge mode very quickly I plugged my usb cable in almost 100 times and tried everything.
Okay, I'm totally lost. When I hold volume down button "s1boot download" appers in device manager, but it can't install a proper driver. I know I need s1boot fastboot and hold volume up button but it doesn't appears. Only the portable device with an H:/ partition
Make sure phone is OFF
While plugging in the USB cable, hold and keep holding the UP VOLUME key
You will hear a system sound played
Do all these while you have Device Manager on screen
Exclamation mark appears on the ADB driver icon
Chose the option to look for the driver in your hard disk - point to where the drivers are.
If using Win8 then you need to disable signing of drivers first (search on net how to)
So far you managed to do this or not?

Hey, nothing is working for me. I did the steps above, but with no chance to install any driver. At the driver manager, the s1boot fastboot-thing is showing up for some seconds and then disappear. i can't change the driver or install the new one.
Any suggestions? I want to change to cm9 so much, because the stock rom really sucks...it is slow and buggy
Edit: I found this post http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1554632 and it works for me!!!
Edit 2: It seems, that you have to do this steps everytime you flash the boot.img to the phone.
I did everything. I installed the driver but when I hold volume up while plug in usb, the led does not turn to BLUE. It turns pink or purple, some kind of colour. What should I do guys? I've gone mad.
Thanks

Doesnt work for me either. I tried everything for hours, but i only see a purple LED for a few seconds and then the phone mode changes into charging.
All drivers are installed.
Flashtool doesnt recognize the Sola either.
Is there a way to flash a recovery without having the Sola bootloader unlocked?
Greetings
still no fastboot
device manager opened
phone off, holding vol. up plugging in usb
NOTHING happens on computer no sound, device manager doesn't refreshes, no purple led on the phone, just enters charging quickly
tried another usb port
tried to enter fastboot from flashtool,
tried to enter with command adb reboot bootloader / adb reboot fastboot
NOTHING happens just reboots normally
So I don't have a clue what's going on there, may the fastboot disappeard or broken?
BUT I used the fastboot for a couple weeks ago in this computer in this usb port, since that I tried some rom does it matter?

pl explain in detail.im a novice and i want to update to ICS in ma Sola....but fastboot driver installtion failed in my W 7 (64 bit):crying::crying::crying:
Solution
For those who still dont get it to work by "Nerre's" method.
The procedure will be same. You have to download latest android_winusb.inf file. I couldnt get it to work bcz of this. I was using the file from sony site. It was giving me some certificate error. Then I used the lates file downloaded from sdk kit. Then this procedure worked.
Make sure to choose "Android Boot loader Interface" after you select ...winusb.inf file. Then before clicking next, reconnect your device in fastboot mode.
Hope this helps someone.

How do I tell if my Xperia S is rooted?

Hi,
New to the scene here, I bought my phone from amazon unlocked already and I installed ICS from the CH file, does this mean that my phone is rooted?
You can check if your rooted by installing "root check basic" from the play store if no go to the dev section and look for a tutorial...

if you just flash the ftf file, your phone ist not rootet, but easy to root, if your BL is realy unlocked
just flash the advanced stock kernel via fastboot, reboot and you got root access
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=28011774#post28011774
I think you are confusing unlocked phone with unlocked bootloader. The first means that you can use the phone with any GSM carrier, and the second means that you can install any firmware you want on the phone, which is what you need to root your phone.
To unlock your bootloader you can follow the steps described on this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1527159
And to update to ICS and root your phone you can use this thread:

not so difficult... just read the instructions and follow them word by word
the only bad thing is that unlocking the bootloader will erase all your installed apps, so it will take some time for you to reinstall everything
I tried to do this last night, however I cannot get the USB installer to come up in the first step where you have to hold the volume up button and plug the USB in. =/
you have to continue holding the volume up for some seconds after plugging the cable. if this doesn't work try another usb connector on your computer (maybe one in the back)
when i hold it up am i suppose to see a blue solid LED light?

by any chance you using windows 7 64bit? if you are then, this is what you need to do.. and gotta be real quick about it...
1. i hope you have completed steps 1-10 on the OP of the thread for unlocking..
http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1527159
2. Now switch off the phone.
3. Keep the windows device manager open.
4. Now press the up volume button of your phone and connect to the PC using the USB cable.
5. You should see a new device in the device manager.. ""S1 Fastboot device" with a yellow icon (meaning missing driver).. quickly right click on it and choose update driver.. select the option where it allows you to search the drivers on your PC... browse to the driver directory and keep look in sub directory option checked.. it may give you a warning about drivers not being correct or something like that.. but continue.. the blue light should now stay on and not turn to orange..
there may be another problem.. Windows 7 automatically redirects the driver installation to default/generic installation if it can't find the driver for the device. So if above method fails, to avoid it you may have to use gpedit.msc to stop the redirection of the devices..
press windows key + R and type in gpedit.msc
go to Computer Configuration ==> Administrative Templates ==> System ==> Device Redirection ==> Device Redirection Restrictions
set both policies to disabled. Now it should allow you to install alternate drivers for your phone.
Thanks to this post that I was able to do these steps and unlock my bootloader..
sorry but i dont see anything when i hold up and connect it, i hear the windows sound and see a blue LED light.
I tried this last night and it was trying to install some driver but said it failed, and ever since after that I tried to do it again but do not see any attemtps to installed driver.
Try a different USB port.. and preferably the one on the back side... if that still does not work.. you may give this a try..
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=23181182#post23181182
you will have to download the android SDK.. just the basic skeleton should do.. also make sure that your phone has debugging option on.. in settings -> developer options -> USB debugging..
then from command line just run the command
Code:
adb reboot bootloader
drivers still need to be installed manually.. easiest way is if you can get hold of a windows XP machine... or run it in VM..
should i try to uninstall the Android driver in Device manager? Maybe thatll trigger windows to try and install the driver again.

No responses to Emergency mode flashing by KDZ?
Try at least with HARD RESET... Hold Power Key + Volumen Down key + Home key
When LG logo appears, release all the keys! Good luck!

First, there is no such thing as hardbrick (not anymore, most modern phones cant be hardbriked )
Be sure, u have all the drives and whatnots installed in the copmuter !
from: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2730501
[Q] How to install a .kdz?
[A] (Tutorial thanks to @[W]ar[H]ead, confirmed working by TaZRAge)
#1) First to get into download mode:
1. Remove battery
2. Put usb to computer and phone (w/o battery)
3. Hold "Vol up" button
4. Put battery back
You will get into download mode (aka emergency mode).
#2) Unpack kdz flasher, and install msxml.msi.
#3) Run KDZ_FW_UPD.exe set "type" to 3GQCT and "phonemode" to DIAG.
#4) Choose the .kdz file to flash. Download link is under the "Downloads"
#5) Click "Launch software update" and wait. Phone must be connected in download mode(!). KDZ installer might get stuck but DO NOT disconnect it. (Unless it stays that way for a hour as a example)
NOTE: .kdz is a .kdz, you cannot extract it. If you get a .zip from the LG .kdz site you did something wrong.

You don't know what you are saying. You can HARDBRICK ANY modern device. By definition hardbrick means phone won't turn on won't respond and in some cases recognized as usb when connected to pc as usb bulk or qcom usb. etc. You damage the second bootloader and tell me what happens. You will see what you get.

first this is offtopic. Second, u are wrong ! Unless the phone is pshisicaly damaged (misfuctioning components or damaged), u cant hardbrick the phone with uploading different soft. on it (unless u change voltages and overclok, if that is possible on the device). Ofecourse they are exceptions, but all major modern manufactors, make hardbrick proof devices. Also, how exactly would u modify the emergency mode, and more important even if you could, why wold u do it !?
More on to the topic, none of the operations of rooting, bootloader installing, kdz install or CMx install , gets near the emergency mode. It remains intact.
Just retry all normal steps for installing kdz or recovery again, check the cables, all drivers on pc, and is best to have a charged phone battery.
EDIT: @kikobuendia
i found this post, same operations as mentioned in first reply, but more detailed:

I am not gonna reply again but I am just saying you have no idea. Do not talk unless you are sure you can hardbrick any device with just root and just writing on second bootloader partition. Read about it if you don't know. Do not argue about it.

No, no luck yet. Seems to be impossible.
I connect to this post cuz my d605 is also facing a similiar issue, no system, no recovery, no adb, download mode worked only twice, for the rest, only emergency mode works, phone cannot even charge.
Phone is recognized from pc, I uninstalled modem drivers but stays in Emergency only few seconds then it shuts down (not sure if its the battery, since it doesn't charge as well). It shuts down actually at the moment that LG mobile support tool seems to recognize it.
It worked couple of times, phone was keeping staying in emergency mode for the beginning of the procedure but at the moment it need to put the kdz into the phone, the phone die.
The two times download mode worked, same, just shutting down immediately. This with LG support tool or LG flashtool2014.
KDZ_FW_UPD worked the first time after install and then doesn't run anymore, on two different Win10 machines.
I have no idea how to come out of this nightmare, just want to flash it :/

well, sorry for not replying earlier. My phone was on guarantee for about 2 months after I wrote the post. I just send it to LG Hellas via the e-shop I bought it from and in about 2-3 weeks, I had my D605 back like it was brand new. I searched a lot about my D605 hard bricked and I found that it is not fixable. My phone could not go into download mode though, as yours. Hope I helped you even a lil bit. Sorry for my bad English.

Elephone P9000 Root No PC

Once you got into android modding, an unrooted phone becomes almost useless.
Now my problem is that I´ve got one.
Couple of days ago my Elephone P9000 arrived from amazon but I can´t connect it to a PC since it says that no device is detected.
Yes, the drivers are installed properly!
I thought that isn´t a problem because there is Kingroot.
Turns out the following rooting apps don´t work for me:
Kingroot (Kingoroot), iRoot, z4root, Framaroot, Towelroot, Oneclickroot, Universal Androot, Root Genius, Baidu
Custom Recovery isn´t installed because, of course, no root.
Now how do I root?

The first thing you need to accomplish is to get your PC to recognize your phone, rooting from there is going to make life easier, but yes, I know you already know that. If your using windows 10, maybe check this thread out on Elephone Forum:

Firstly is your PC finding your phone ok with the PC on? If yes.. all good - if no you need to sort this out first.
Then, ensure you have installed the MTK driver on your PC (these are the Media Tek drivers which will find your phone when it is off) instructions here:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/elephone-p9000/how-to/how-to-guideline-install-mtk-drivers-t3344042
Then flashtools should work fine with your phone off.
Just a tip using FlashTools (Im on windows 10 - I dont know if this applies to other windows)
In flashtools, press download first (without phone connected), give it 5 secs and then connect your phone to your PC with the volume up button pressed at the same time. Once you see FlashTools starting to flash your phone, release the volume button. I have to do this all the time in order for my phone to be found on Windows 10.

To start of, I am using Windows 10 as you do.
When I connect my phone when it´s turned on, I get the small icon in the taskbar that allows me to remove the device safely or open devices and printer.
There, my device is put to a section called not specified and it has a small yellow icon.
Only is it called "P9000" which is alright.
Windows explorer acts like no device is connected at all.
When I connect my phone as it is turned off, I still get the notification "USB Device wasn´t recognized." and
windows explorer still doesn´t care as well as the flash tool.
The link you gave me isn´t the one I previously used to install the drivers so I gave it a try.
There are two different ways mentioned in the posts #1 and #4 so I started with the first one.
(Spoiler: Both don´t work for me!)
Everything worked until a step almost at the end where I am told to connect my off-switched phone to the pc.
The tutorial tells me that there should now be a preloader unknown device or something at Device Manager > Ports (COM & LPT) that I would need to proceed further.
I didn´t get that one.
Dead end for me so I went on to the next tutorial in post #4.
In that post I am told to remove a MTK USB Port at Device Manager > Ports (COM & LPT) right after installing the .inf driver files (Yes, I installed the 64 bit version and do have a 64 bit PC).
Ignoring that step didn´t help any of the problems I had before so I got a dead end here, too.
The "Volume-Up-Trick" did help me neither, probably cause of the not working drivers.

(make sure in dev options on your phone USB debugging is ON and USB config is MTP)
So from that you simply need to (In Device Manager) right click > Update Driver Software > Browse My PC for Driver Software > Let me pick from a list of device drivers from my PC > then choose MTP USB Device
Once windows installs this, a box should pop up showing your P9000 internal storage and SD Card (if you have one in phone)
To ensure that your PC is now finding your phone ok, restart PC and plug your phone in - you should be prompted by windows to choose a default action when this device is connected (I choose transfer files or something similar). Then everytime you connect your phone, a box will pop up showing allowing you to access your P9000.
Now onto when your P9000 is switched off... (the important part for flashing etc)
I followed the instructions at post #4 as I believe due to the anniversary update on windows 10 (the January update I believe) .. if you do not have the January update installed on your PC you would use the instructions #1
Don't worry too much if you receive "USB device not recognised" initially, (from what I have understood this is normal with the Anniversary addition of windows 10) it should disappear after few seconds or so. From what I worked out following post #4 you are kinda installing a MTK device (just so you can install the drivers) and then uninstalling that device BUT keeping the drivers installed (its VERY important when you uninstall the device you untick the delete drivers too, otherwise you have essentially deleted the MTK drivers & would have to start from scratch from post #4)
For me, when I connect my p9000 when its off it still shows "USB device not recognised", then after a few seconds this goes away and I dont have any errors under Device Manager > Ports (COM & LPT) & flashtools works fine as long as I press vol up as I connect my phone.
Hope this helps, I had a headache when I tried to install MTK drivers with my windows 10 (Anniversay Update Edition) - good luck, it was kinda trial and error

As far is I can tell, a working connection with the device running is more important in the first place.
Now I don´t quite understand your instructions at this point:

In Device Manager right click, but where?
Blank space? Definetly not.
According to the linked tutorial, I´d have to right click on something like "unknown device" or something similar.
But that doesn´t show up in my list.

When you plug your p9000 (while its turned on) into your laptop/pc... in Device Manager, probably under Universal serial Bus Controllers do you see a unknown device, or anything with a question mark / unknown device beside it ? If so, that's where you right click and follow instructions above to get your PC to recognize your handset. At this point just concentrate on getting pc to recognise while its on, then hopefully we can then move to setting up when its off.

Well, that solved all of my problems...
Almost...
Drivers are fully working for me now so I wanted to flash TWRP with SP Flash Tool to be able to flash the superuser .zip file.
Since drivers work now, flash tool started flashing and gave me the error you can see in the attached screenshot.
Fortunately, my phone isn´t bricked or anything.
Edit: After a couple of reboots of all my devices, I get back to where I was before: USB Device wasn´t recognized and Flash Tool doesn´t do anything.

All cool & its an easy thing to miss when your not looking for it (or for that matter if you dont know that menu even existed)
That error is a preloading error, I'm assuming your flashing TWRP Recovery and like you I had similar issue - I shared a simple solution here that worked for me here (it should work fine as long as you are on Stock Elephone 2016810 Base onwards so I believe, Elephone changed the preloader or something like that in later ROMS)
So Basically, you download the Stock Elephone 2016810 Base ROM from HERE & unzip
Grab Flash Tools ver v5.1612 (if your not using that version) HERE - https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=24591000424940027
Then download TWRP_3.0.2.8.zip HERE & unzip
Copy the the "MT6755_Android_scatter" & "recovery.img" from TWRP_3.0.2.8 folder into the Elephone_P9000_2016810 Rom folder.
In Splash Tools, first flash the Elephone_P9000_2016810 Rom open "MT6755_Android_scatter" from _810 file & ensure the recovery section location points to "recovery.img" in the _810 folder also
Once your stock _810 ROM is flashed successfully, you then flash TWRP (with only recovery ticked) and ensure the recovery location points to "recovery_TWRP_3028_P9000" and your TWRP should flash fine. Make sure your using Flash Tools ver v5.1612, that worked fine for me.
There maybe an easier solution someone can point you too, but I know this worked for me no problems - you should now have TWRP recovery on stock _810 ready for you to flash your chosen ROM

I´m going to try this now.
Do I have to go back to Stock 20160810 if I have 20161107?

I guess if you download the 20161107 ROM it should work, I'm really unsure, its a newer ROM so I guess it should

It didn´t work.
I did all the steps you´ve told me and ended up with the exact same problem I´ve experienced before: USB Device not recognized and SP Flash Tool doesn´t do anything after pressing the download button.
I was going to reinstall the drivers like you told me form post #4 here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/elephone-p9000/how-to/how-to-guideline-install-mtk-drivers-t3344042
That didn´t do anything, I still have the same problem of my pc not recognizing my phone.
At least connecting my phone when it´s running works now.
you have to press and keep vol + when connecting the turned off phone to the computer after clicking download in FlashTools.

MMmmm .. have you tried a different USB port? maybe a different lead if you have one? (I have two leads and I know one doesnt work for me, dunno why)
Also, after pressing download in SplashTools.. count to say 7-10 secs and then press Vol UP and connect your phone.... (I know this sounds bit stupid, but it works for me, if I connect straioght away I get errors too ref driver )

No, that doesn´t help either.
I think it has to do something with installing the drivers cause after installing them, in Device Manager no new drivers are displayed except for two Mediatek Preloader USB VCOM Port (COM5) and (COM6).
But those only become visible when I check "show hidden devices".
The tutorial said that some more things should have been installed but I didn´t get any error messages so I don´t understand what shouldn´t have worked.
Sorry Im at a loss really, maybe follow this tutorial my brother followed to reinstall the MTK and try again with all the above steps, good luck

Make sure your PC is in driver signature disable mode when flashing etc btw

Didn´t help either.
Current state:
Phone On > Everything working, I get the popup window and data transfer works :good:
Phone Off > USB wasn´t recognized, Flash Tool isn´t working, no recognition in windows explorer, phone is charging, vol+ doesn´t help
MTP and USB Debugging are activated
While installing the drivers I got no error messages and everything looked same as in the tutorial

Good to hear you can atleast use your phone to transfer etc while on
Just curious (although Im sure you have followed the video / other tutorials to the letter) but
(1) did you ensure when following video tut that when uninstalling the legacy device you unticked the driver box to ensure the drivers were actually kept installed?
(2) Check Device Manager, under the Ports (COM & LPT) section and remember you shouldn't have anything referring to a MTK device in there - ie like MTK USB Port (Com 3) ? (If you have it needs uninstalling)
(3) Seems obvious I know but you are connecting your phone and using FlashTools when your Windows Driver Enforcement is disabled? ( Literally restarting with advanced options & choosng Disbale Driver Enforcement) Many users think once you have installed the driver you can use it with Windows Drivers enforcement enabled, but you have to be in disabled mode.
Finally if you doubled checked all of those, then maybe try a different version of FlashTools (worth a try) and also try running FlashTools as Administrator when you open it - good luck
