Cool!
Superuser binaries have been updated to 3.0.3 now.
Dax, you are too kind.
I think anyone wanting to root/recovery/flash should do their time reading, and then read some more.... THEN and only THEN should be allowed to ask intelligent questions based on the research they have done.
In the end I think you are only allowing newbs to be lazy with your UCG.
We have stickies for this very reason, but no one reads them it seems.
And no one seems to watch this either, http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=JmvCpR45LKA

Well said and pretty much true.
There is another thread like this by victortangocharlie where hes exlplained multiple methods for installing recoveries.
But stickysours thread is huge. and too many questions, so a compact thread is always better implemented.
P.S - IMO !

Disclaimer: This was my process that worked for my Galaxy Nexus running AOKP and the Matr1x kernel. However, I am 90% sure this will transfer over to anybody else that has this problem. If you were able to adapt this for your phone, please post this in the replies. This also assumes you have a basic working knowledge of flashing kernels and ROMs.
What this fixes: Android phone gets to boot screen, loads an app or two, and freezes, then reboots due to voltage being set too low upon boot. This is either because of settings saved from SetCPU or your ROM. This will not help with other voltage-control apps.
Process:
If you don't ever want to undervolt again, but still want a working phone and all of your data back, you can do ONLY steps 8-12 without worrying about the .xml file. If that doesn't work, do all of the steps except 5-7 and stop at 12.
Step 1: From the SetCPU website: In the rare event that your phone cannot boot because you left this checkbox checked at unstable frequencies, create a file called "setcpu_safemode" (with no extension) and put it in /data/local or /sdcard. If SetCPU detects this file, it will ignore all start up settings.
This will only fix the problem if you clicked "Set on Boot" in SetCPU. If you set it in your ROM preferences, like I did, see below:
Step 2: Boot into Clockworkmod Recovery and create a NANDroid backup. I don't care if your phone doesn't boot right now. Create a NANDroid backup through CWM.
Step 3: Through CWM still, Wipe Data/Factory reset. Disclaimer: At least for me, this did not erase anything on my SD card. I'd imagine that it works the same on all Android phones, so you should be fine.
Step 4: Reboot the phone. Don't worry about running through the initial setup. Plug your phone into your computer and navigate to your SD card. Go to /sdcard/clockworkmod/backup/[your latest backup]
Step 5: Copy data.ext4.tar to your computer's hard drive and extract the contents. I used WinRAR.
Step 6: In the extracted files, navigate to /data/data/[com.roman.romcontrol]/shared_prefs/[com.roman.romcontrol.xml]
Disclaimer: THIS IS FOR THE GNEX AOKP ROM. The parts in brackets are likely different for your personal ROM of choice. Find the com.* folder for YOUR rom's settings and it will have a shared_prefs folder with an .xml file.
Step 7: Open the file in a text editor (like notepad) and locate the lines
PHP:
"apply_cpu_at_boot" value="true"
and
"apply_voltages_at_boot" value="true"
Replace "true" with "false" and save the file.
Step 8: Download an older kernel that DOES NOT have the option to UV (undervolt). I used an old Franco kernel .
Step 9: Put your modified com.*.xml file and the kernel anywhere onto your phone's SD card.
Step 10: Reboot back into CWM Recovery and Restore the NANDRoid backup you created earlier.
Step 11: Clear Cache and Dalvik Cache then flash that old kernel that DOES NOT have UV options.
Step 12: You should now have a working phone with all of your data back. You can keep it like this and never undervolt again, OR you can continue:
Step 13: Download a file manager that can access the phone's root. I use ES File Explorer.
Step 14: Copy that com.*.xml file FROM your sd card and OVERWRITE the one located at (root)/data/data/com.*/shared_prefs/com.*.xml <--That is your PHONE'S root, NOT your sd card. If you have problems with overwriting this, open up ROM Manager and hit Fix Permissions.
Step 15: Reboot into CWM. Wipe Cache and Dalvik Cache, flash any kernel that you want with UV support.
Step 16: Reboot and enjoy your phone back to its original condition with UV support!
Disclaimer: I just did this to my phone after hours and hours of trying different things. I rewrote these steps as best I could from memory and am 90% sure they are accurate. If there is confusion, let me know and I'll help as best I can. Don't hold me responsible if this doesn't work.
1) I have twlauncher crash loop error (i caused this while using swiftkey 3 typing an email in skyfire then i pressed home key to bring back to home, phone crashed, took out battery, put it back it, hey presto twlauncher crash loop error plus every other crash loop error. I did not recently install any apps etc)
2) i cannot do the "normal fix" of remote install alternative launcher on google play store on pc then push to mobile because due to twlauncher crash loop error, i cannot turn on wifi or mobile 3g so phone cannot connec to internet
3) what's left is power + vol up + home = factory reset? But will that brick my phone?
I ask because a long time ago, I flashed the firmware using Odin and rooted the phone, so when it starts up there is yellow triangle. If I use the stock Android recovery program to factory reset, is that going to break my phone because I installed a different firmware / rom on it? PS i don't remember what i installed, or even how because it was a long time ago and i have forgotten.
I also found this website, http://knowledge-republic.com/CRM/2...alled-process-com-sec-android-app-twlauncher/
seeme interesting, but i can't check it out yet because my smartphone broke while travelling and i don't get back home for a few days yet. anyone confirm the above link? It seems to be written in bad english.

When you have access to your laptop, let me know. You are going to install another launcher via ADB, so there won't be any need to factory reset

Yes. Rename it to launcher.apk
After finishing with the steps in my previous post, you can move to the following steps:
1. Connect your device to pc (power it on) and wait for the drivers to install
2. Open the extracted ADB folder,
- hold the SHIFT key, and RIGHT CLICK on a blank area in the folder,
- select OPEN COMMAND PROMPT HERE, from the right click options,
- command window will open
3. In command window, type as follows
- adb devices
#this will confirm if your device is connected
- adb install launcher.apk
- adb reboot
Wait for your phone to reboot, then disconnect it from your Pc.
You should now have the option to choose another launcher.
Done.
it's not working. I think it's because the twlauncher error has somehow caused my phone to be unrooted, or at least making all applications requring superuser access disabled. because the adb install command fails because it says an folder (/data/local/tmp/) is read / only and when I go into Root Explorer to try making it r/w, the first message i get is the Superuser application stopping unexpectedly.
but when i check for root access using adb, ie "adb shell", I get "#", which means I still have root access?
I don't understand.
-------------------------------
Upon further investigation, it seems that the entire /data folder and subfolders are locked to r/o by the twlauncher failure (logprovider as well as every other crash loop error) caused initially by Swiftkey 3 when i pressed the home key while typing in Skyfire.
I have managed to regain some minor amount of utility by following a series of frustrated attempts,
*when there are 10 different crash loop errors, try pressing as fast as I can go to into task manager, the crash loop errors will now be reduced to about 3, then clear ram. This takes something like 25 attemps
*when there 2 crash loop errors remaining, try pressing as fast as i can "force close -> options (button left of home key) -> setting in the pop up panel. This will take something like 50 attempts to get the timing right so I am able to fast press everything in sequence before the next force error makes me start again.
*once into settings, there is just one crash loop error (logprovider), go into applications, all, twlauncher and press force end (obviously there'll be crash loop errors so you have to be quick in pressing keys)
*now there are no crash loop errors until you press the homekey or try and access all your applications (twlauncher error remains, logprovider will come up again and i have to repeat all these steps if i try to use contact/message function)
What the above has essentially enabled me to do is to access a few applications that was on my 1st or 2nd homescreen by chance (not all will work) , i still can't access any on my app screen as twlauncher crashes too fast.
This is how I have been able to simultaenously mess around with Root Explorer and ADB on my PC in USB debugging mode.
This is how i have discovered that when I use Rootexplorer, initially it says Superuser application has stopped and I have to force close it.
However, I am still able to use Rootexplorer to mount r/w or r/o on a few folders, such as /system , so this implies that I do still have root access. However, there is no options to make /data r/w, even in root explorer, attempts using adb to make /data r/w also fails.
What this means is that I can't clear the cache / dalvik-cache as they are sub folders of /data. It means that adb install launcher.apk fails because /data/local/tmp, the folder where you're copying the apk to is r/o. It means that I can't install or uninstall any applications because /data/apps is read only.
For eg, I have used adb push launcher.apk successfully to put go ex launcher in the /system/apps folder, but it just stays there as an apk file (from previous experiences, putting an apk in the /system/apps file doesn't make that apk install on boot, because you need an odex file for that apk). So when I manually select to install that apk, phone crashes and reboots because /data/apps is r/o. This is also how I can't uninstall or clear the cache of the application that caused this in the first place (swiftkey 3)

Using ADB
adb pull /data/data/com.android.providers.contacts/databases/contacts2.db
adb pull /data/data/com.android.providers.telephony/databses/mmssms.db
Then I installed SQ Lite Manager add on for Firefox and opened the 2 .db files.
Well, I'm making progress now on how to read the information from a database, it's like pieces of a jigsaw puzzle. I feel confident in putting them together via extensive cross referencing and recovering all text messages and phone numbers, even if I have to type them out by hand into Word.
Thanks Jokesy for helping me with this damn Twlauncher problem. If the worst comes to worst, I think I can recover all personal data from the device before wiping everything.

don't worry.
1. You need to flash a ROOT kernel with CWM recovery. You can flash CF-ROOT kernel or Siyah kernel via Odin
2. We need this so that adb can gain root access, and also to probably flash another launcher at worst via CWM recovery. We can also disable Touchwiz launcher temporarily via ADB.
3. Do you have CWM zip template?

I originally rooted my phone following the instructions in that thread. So I assume the kernels you're referring to are compatible with the ROM I flashed?
No I do not have CWM zip template, what is it and where/how can i get it/make it?
I basically rooted my phone as soon as I got it, didn't change a thing after the initial messing about.
Why do you want me to download the CF-Root Kernel but flash the Siyah kernel?
I will redownload Odin and see about the flashing the kernel as you have said. It's been a while.. I also need to sleep now for a while, when I wake up tomorrow morning, I will read a bit more about the stuff you have to me to do, then try to do it. Thx.
Ok.
That means you rooted your phone using insecure kernel, right?
I want you to download and flash a kernel that has CWM recovery. We really need it to flash another launcher and rename Touchwiz launcher via CWM recovery.
What's your time there?

Yes, the Siyah kernel is compatible with gingerbread.
I couldn't find a compatible CF-ROOT kernel, so i guess you will have to flash Siyah kernel

UK Time. I will be here now for a several hours.
Well, I think it's insecure because when I start my phone there is a yellow triangle with ! inside.
So, I've downloaded Odin 3.04. The Siyah Kernal as you said, after extracting from zip, I get "zImage", type of file is "File."
So how to flash? I really have forgotten all of this. So I start my SGS2 in Download Mode, go to Odin, select PDA, select zImage, the press Start?
What then? Thx
You don't need to extraxt it from .tar select PDA then selexct unzipped Kernel and then start

OK. Done of all that.
Phone reboots ok.
Still Twlauncher error, there is no option to use another launcher?
-------------------------
Just checked /data/apps no sign of the com.gau.go.launcherex-1.apk that should have been flashed.
Rebooting phone now because some other previous installed apps were greyed out, meaning error with sd card reading.

have rebooted the phone, anything?
Hi to all! My tablet is bricked I can open the recovery menu, but, even if i can use "adb sideload" command from my pc, i don't have a rom to send to my tablet. How can i solve the problem? The tablet can boot but it remains in the "initial configuration page", because a system process always crashes".... Please help me
If you can get into recovery and other things your not bricked, junior member. I don't know the exact process but if someone with an a1000 knew or was willing and instructed they could dump the rom and if someone knew how could make it into a flashable zip, maybe, like I said don't know the exact process

there is a post post in lenovo forum PREAMBLE-FOR-LENOVO-A1000-ROM-RECOVERY-ETC
u can a nandroid backup there ,after installing twrp ,just restore back up backup
place the back up u need to create a folder "TWRP"
in twrp "BACKUPS"
in backups "LENOVO_A1000_MT8317"
PUT THE RESTORE FILES IN A FOLDER CREATE THE "RESTORE FOLDER" IN ABOVE LENOVO FOLDER
Hope This helps
Caution MAKE SURE TO BACKUP YOUR IMEI AND MAC ADRESS AND BLUETOOTH ADRESS
Note : Step 6 and 7 can be shortcutted by Pressing on the hard reset button while/while not connected to PC
: this will erase all data on your internal memory, so keep all the data you wanna back up in PC or External SD card and remove it (just to be safe)
ok, so
Step 1 google A1000F_A412_01_23_130822_ROW_USER, you should find it in 4shared(dot)eu
Or http://www.4-shared.eu/download/bt6fqlKPInMXDN3q7CPuW1/A1000F-A412-01-23-130822-ROW-USER.html
Step 2: once you finish downloading, extract it, then go to the FlashTool folder and look for FlashTool.exe
Step 3, once you open FlashTool.exe, Click the checkbox DA DL All with Checksum
Step 4 Now load scatter file MT6577_Android_scatter_emmc (located in A1000F_A412_01_23_130822_ROW_USER Folder, it will be the only file show other than the flash tool folder)
Step 5 now click Format> Format All partition except Bootloader > validation > ok
Step 6 Now connect your USB to MiniUSB (charger cord) to the computer but DO NOT PLUG IT YET TO THE PC
Step 7 now hold down on your Up volume button and wait 10 sec. then plug it into pc
Step 7.1 (not really) the loading bar on the bottom of SP flash tool should turn red and other difirent colors, once its finished, there should be a popup saying OK, Close it and youre done
Step 8: now Click on download, after you download, look at Step 6 to 7.1
Step 9 IF the device fails to boot, download this ( will put link to A1000F fix tool)
Step 10 press the hard reset button (besides SD card slot) or Follow Step 6 to 7.1
Step 11 Boot UP
To install TWRP 2.5 ( Found it in lenovo russian forums) (Tested the file) (worked for my IdeaTab A1000-F)
Step 12 Download From This (Direct Link) http://lenovo-forums.ru/Files/OS/Tablets/A1000/Custom/A1000T_TWRP_v2.5.0.0.zip
Step 13 Extract it
Step 14 IGNORE the included scatter file from the TWRP download (had problems with it) and follow Step 4
Step 15 On the loaded files from Scatter file, look for recovery ( 7th File), Click on it, there should be a file explorer pop up
Step 16 On the file explorer pop up, look for the A1000F_TWRP_v2.5.0.0 folder you just extracted AND then click on the recovery.img found inside
Step 17 Now Choose Firmmware -> Upgrade and do Step 10
TO ROOT WITHOUT PC (must do step 1-17)
Step 18 Boot to recovery (hold power button + up volume button AT THESAME TIME)
Step 19 You should be at TWRP recovery, Tap on Reboot>System and there should display a warning about the system not being rooted, and it should prompt you to slide to root, SLIDE IT, it should reboot automatically
Step 20 in your app drawer, look for SU installer and click on it,Your going to be prompted to innstall SU via playstore or via TWRP (i did it via TWRP bacause im lazy, and the system apps are updating, but your free to do otherwise) it should reboot, and vioala, your rooted
To Update Firmware
Step 21 Open SuperSU>settings>scroll down>enable pro (SuperSU should restart) then Open SuperSU again>settings>survival mode
Step 22 Download This (download 1) (will update to put link) and this https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=de.mkrtchyan.recoverytools
Step 23 Open the Rashr Flasher tool you just downloaded from playstore and find Download 1 then navigate Download 1 file location (Named Recovery Folder) > Stock and tap on the recovery img
Step 24 download and install the Update from Settings>about tablet>Firmware Update (make sure you have enabled survival mode in super Su, or else you will loose root privilages)
To go back to TWRP
Step 25 just use the Rashr Recovery tool and go to download 1 file location (named Recovery Folder) > TWRP and tap on the recovery img

This is a short guide on how to fix a boot loop or other Fc errors using safe strap (no relfash/no odin)
Always and I say always add.bak to any file you intend to replace with another
This wil let you use safestrap to fix a bootloop or other FC issues from a file you replaced using a root explorer program
Okay so you started modding a files lest say systemui.apk and you went into root explorer renamed the origna lwith a .bak extension and droped your new one in there well all seems well you reboot like normal but lo and behold after a while of waiting you realize you are caught in a boot loop or when it does load you get a continues Fc ever cuple seconds making the phone virtually unusable
Well Your in luck reboot your phone and go into SafeStrap
Step 1. Tap Mount
Step 2. Check System
Step 3. Go back and tap Advanced
Step 4. Tap File Manager
Step 5. Scroll Down to system(or wherever you may have placed your file) and tap it
Step 6. Tap App
Step 7. Fint the file you replace and clike it and delete it
Step 8. Tap the original and rename it to what ever the fiel is in this case systemui.apk.bak to its original without the .bak extension
Step 9. Reboot System
Step 10. Enjoy
If you need any help Post int the comment im here to help
If i helped you leave thanks
