Hi guys,
A month ago my phone got stuck on Samsung's bootscreen (I was using CM10.2). I tried to restore a nandroid backup but the recovery wasn't able to mount /data, so I had to restore my phone via odin flashing official firmware. Then /efs was corrupted so I lost my IMEI (0049...), therefore I wasn't able to connect to the mobile network (no calls, no data connection...) and I hadn't a backup for that (yes, really dumb). Yesterday I took it to a repair service from a mobile store (definitely not the official one) and they restored my old IMEI number, as I can check it comparing the one behind my battery and the one shown dialing *#06#. But it still doesn't connect to the network, only emergency calls. When I try to call, it displays a message that says that it isn't registered in the network, and if try to register it manually, a toast notification displays saying that it's registered but another one in the notification bar says that the network it's not available.
Things that I've already done without success:
- Back up and restore /efs (kTool).
- Flash CM10.2.
- Flash official firmware.
- Tried with other's SIM (mine works fine in other phones).
Any thoughts? clues? anything that cross your minds? I need to bring my S3 back to life and I don't really know where to begin the research (I googled like hell, though).
I'll appreciate any contribution (even if it's just a description of how network connecting works at low level, codes to check, etc),
Thank you (and please forgive my poor english).
Try patched modern and kernel, if that doesn't work then take it back to your repair store.

Thank you for the quick response, I'll give it a try right now!
EDIT: It worked, thank you!!
I'll explain for others. I had CM10.2 before repairing it following the instructions of boomboomer. I've downloaded the firmware I9300XXUGMK6 from here and flashed it with Odin v3.04. After this, I had to get root again and flash cwm recovery (CF-Root-SGS3-v6.4 with Odin). Then just flashed the two files listed on this post. Now it works again.

Hello,
After searching about 10 pages & search engine i haven't find exactly same problem as mine but i think i'm not the only one who had this problem...
I saw that all guys having same problem as me have an IMEI problem with a file on /efs, which is not my case for the IMEI
Problem : no phone, no sms, all data is OK. is someone calls me it rings busy.
Here's what i tried
- My SIM on another S2 = everything OK, the other S2 sim on my phone gives same problem.
- Many ROMs official or non official (also a release using pit+pda+phone+csc), without solving my problem
- Using the appli GSII_Repair but i can' t download (message appears 2mins after click on install, from PC or from market)
- Phone is operator free and with no signal problem.
- At the moment i just put an official rom (nothing more) with baseband i9100xxki3, kernel 2.6.35.[email protected] #2, Version number gingerbread.xxki3. Network State=Connected, IMEI= same as behind battery, IMEISV=01
I bought the phone to someone living 150km from me and when i wanted to test it...i locked my SIM (and no puk code with me) so i bought it for not having done the 300km for nothing...and i can't use it since a week i'm trying & reading things everywhere on the net but i think here is the best place, great members, great place, and great roms i used on my HD2 before the USB connector broke. The guy to wich i bought the phone kept it a month and have no idea to what has been done the phone
So help needed....Thanks

Have you already tried to do a factory reset?
Shut down the phone, reboot into recovery mode (Volume UP + Home + Power, hold the keys until the recovery menu appears), choose factory reset and then reboot the phone.
If that does not help, you could try to flash a newer stock ROM, such as XWKJ3.
Have a look at Intratech's Official Firmware thread here => http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1075278
If that does not help either, it could be a hardware issue.
Hope that it is not.
Good luck !
I already have done both, and i just have done the 2 things again just in cas
Factory reset => still having problem
XWKJ3 => i'm getting permanently a message like com.android.phone crashed, i now remember why i changed for an older ROM
Sounds like flashing many roms syndrome .
Also the no no of using PIT files .
Suggestion
Download full stock rom .
Backup all data .
Go to recovery Mounts and storage Format > Cache System Data > SD Card .
No boot now clean empty phone .
Download mode and via Odin flash stock rom .
Test if still faulty return under warranty .

I dont want to be a negative ned and throw a spanner in the works here but if the IMEI is intact and the phone was bought second hand(and no offence with what im about to say) but is it possible that the IMEI has been blocked cos yourve unknowingly bought a stolen phoneIt just seems strange that only calls and sms are blocked with the IMEI no being changed.Sorry if ive miss understood the question. No offence intended.
Hi there!
I know I'm new to here, but not new to android, flashing, etc...
So I recently bought a Galaxy S3 international version (GT-I9300).
I tried to update it's software with KIES, and it stopped on 61%.
KIES tried to flash the newest 4.0.4 (UK) firmware (I9300XXBLG8).
I got the .tar.md5 file out of temporary directory and flashed it manually from ODIN. It booted normally, but i had (have) no network signal. When I turned it on it requested my PIN but when I entered it, the phone doesn't connected to my carrieer's network. My phone is unlocked (checked it with galaxsim), and my IMEI number doesn't changed or corrupted. (Checked under the battery). I live in Hungary and my carrieer is T-Mobile. Tried hard reset, wipe.
Can anybody please help me to solve this problem?
Thank you very much in advance.
Tom
Hi Tom ,
it happened that I had a bit of a similar problem before ( not with my Current International S3 but with my older Xperia neo v ) , after flashing a new ROM something went wrong and I had lost network , tried everything possible but it wouldn't do anything.
my solution was flashing back to my previous ROM , so I highly recommend to you to flash back using your NANDROID backup ( I hope you made one before Flashing... ) or you can try another ROM / or even RE-flash your current ROM but pay more attention this time and make sure nothing goes wrong , and also make sure you do a factory reset , Cache wipe and Dalvik cache Wipe before you flash it just to make sure everything is clean.
I hope this helps , and if I helped you by any way possible don't hesitate and press the Thanks button on your LEFT :good:
Cheers

OT I don't have thanks buttons, maybe you should qualify with an IF statement?
Bad news, I don't really know what my original firmware was, so I can just try Kangburra's tip... I have 25 min waiting time on hotfile.com, I will the download the latest 4.1.1 unbranded firmware, which has PDA I9300XXDLIH and CSC I9300PHEDLI1. I will write about the results ASAP.
edit: I'm too tired, I thoght your signature was a suggestion for me

It seems you misunderstood me... I have absolutely no network signal from my carrier :/
Update: Okay the last 4.1.1 mentioned before is not working. Now it sees my network just doesn't register on it. Will try I9300XXALE8_I9300OXFALE5_XEH now.
Found something: All of ROMs installed I'm seem to be reachable. My friend ringed me from his mobile and IT WAS RINGING. If I turned off my mobile, it was not ringing of course. So what the hell is this?
Hello.
I have a problem which annoys me a lot for a half a year now. Here's the story:
I bought my S3 from secondhand in 2012. It was Android 4.1.2. I was complete newbie that day. When update came off, I wanted to update it via my phone, bu then i threw errors. then i tried it via Kies but also did not managed to. I googled the problem and saw that I am rooted. I listened to people, who said that I should use Odin to upgrade my firmware, So did I. Downloaded latest firmware from sammobile.com. i did everything following the tutorial, but I got the network problem - no connection to the service - no sms, calls, 3g and so on. Only wifi. Then I spend three days trying to google out the problem. Tried almost everything, but as I didint had any backups made for my EFS, and my IMEI was "unknown" as phone said, I assumed that there is nothing i can do there. So I gave phone to the repair service. They fixed it in a day. I got it with the old 4.1.2 firmware version and enjoyed my phone like a year for now. And immediately backed up EFS.
So today I thought that im very bored with this old 4.1.2 and encouraged myself to try upgrade it again. So as I have efs backup, (I also did modem backup) I tried downloading latest 4.3 fimware from sammobile again. (as Im from Lithuania, there is no firmwared for LT, so I downloaded Croatian, because the carrier was the same (Tele2). And here I go again. No network, only wifi. I tried to restore efs, modem - no change with network (Did not managed to recover modem corectly, Odin fails when i want to recover it). then I tried several modems from Perkas file Stash, which i managed install via Odin, but still no change. I truly tried almost every app ant searched every thread in this forum for solution.
Now I tried to flash in to 4.1.2 I9300XXEMG4 firmware. And now im stuck with Samsung logo, mobile does not even turn on.
Any solutions? I will apprecaite any information. Thanks
There is no single solution, once the efs is damaged only a reputable repair centre can recode it properly. If it comes back with 4.1 then it isn't hasn't been fixed properly.

Hey guys!
I'm currently getting the "not registered on network error". I have tried any; if not all threads on this issue to no prevail! It started when i flashed my phone to a deodexed version of the stock firmware for my phone.
What i have tried;
Used my simcard in other phone (Works fine)
*#06# brings up the same IMEI string as the one underneath battery
Using another simcard in my phone doesn't work
Used Kies Emergency Recovery to flash my phone back to complete factory reset
The strange thing is, i then thought after my efforts, i've had a hardware failure. But when i scan for my local networks, i see them just fine. Which would presume the antenna is operational. *see attatchment - Screenshot_2015-01-09-02-30-32.png*
Try patched modem and kernel, restore efs backup.

Thanks for the reply.
I think it's on it's way out. The phone is touching 3-4 years old now. One of the first to receive the phone. It seems to be a power issue. I did the above solution yesterday evening which didn't work. However, the phone IS currently working perfectly above 45% battery. Have you ever come accross this issue before?
Is the battery swollen? Try another battery.
Hey everyone, I'm hoping someone is able to point me in the right direction.
I have an S9 Plus with TWRP installed and DevBase v5.9 as the ROM. I have made two backups using TWRP, one from when I first got the phone and a more recent one (within the last week).
When I first got the phone I removed a lot of the bloatware that came with it (Samsung stuff and other junk). After using the phone for a while I realized I needed to keep a couple of the Samsung apps, mostly Samsung Themes and Galaxy Apps (to keep other Samsung Apps up to date). This is where the problems first began.
I restored the backup I made when I first got the phone because I didn't remove any of the bloatware. The backup restored without any problems, I started updating apps, getting it back to the way I had it and noticed I didn't have any reception. I tried to make a phone call and it displayed an error "Not registered on network". I thought something went wrong during the restore, so I tried to restore the phone with the more recent backup I had. That, too, gave me the same message. I checked the IMEI number it was displaying 0000000000000/01. Definitely not my IMEI.
I tried my SIM card in another phone and it worked without any problem. I tried my partners SIM card in my phone and it displayed the same 0000000000000/01 IMEI. I downloaded the latest stock firmware for the phone in an attempt to try and get it back to normal, however, even on stock android it displays 0000000000000/01 IMEI.
So I'm in a sticky situation at the moment. Is there any way to recover from this problem?
