[REQ] Need a Stock App? Request it Here - Sprint LG G3

So I know I can't be the only one who forgot to back something up or rename it before changing something. I changed my settings and now my system updates wont load up. So I am in need of the stock Settings.apk from /system/priv-app

justinswidebody has a system dump here. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=54945442
Im uploading the files you need but it's really slow. I'll put it here when it's done.
Edit. This should be what you're looking for. https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B0okm-Hfdt8YTUg1S1FlU2Vidnc/edit?usp=docslist_api
Check the md5sum though. I don't trust this upload. 47a1aa59c91491b3c1d9ced92efe1b51

Which settings did you change? Are you using Greenify by chance? I had this happen to me, I Greenified App Updates. But whatever setting you did change you should be able to un-do. Unless you modified the apk itself the settings you changed will more than likely remain there even if you replaced the apk
On a separate note I have a ton of DB/Google Drive storage I could make a public folder with all the stock apks and odex files so ppl could pick and choose which ones to download

I lost my G3 last night. ::
Then right after I posted this I smoked my A200 when I dropped it 6 feet on to concrete. It was a bad Android weekend.
Got my new G3 back today tho. So I got the stock settings back. Thanks anyway!

[REQ] BlurHome2.apk from Droid 3

It's a bit spiffier than our default home. Can anyone deodex one for us? I'd appreciate it.
Sent from my Motorola Photon 4g
i am literally deodexing the d3 dump as we speak will update with progress
Edit
Hmmm I seem. To be having issues with the custom bootclass paths .. everything deodexes except blurhome 2. Lol. Any suggestions??
I don't have any off the top of my head. I was trying to deodex the single app from the D3 dump myself.
Sent from my Motorola Photon 4g
its just trying to figure out what other jars it needs to deodex the file i know one of them just based off of other deo s ive done but theres still something missing
com.motorola.app.admin.jar
is one
We could always just wait. I thinking they are working on porting clockwork to the D3 now. A deodexed stock rom should follow soon.

I i have painstakingly deodexed this whole rom . Trying to get this apk . Its a system file so it wont just install..
And renaming my current blurhome to blurhome.apk.bak causes forcecloses and i have to battery pull
its obviously beyond me because even when i do get it to recognize, it says This is not a blur device
i even setup motoblur and still no go
i also left my blurhome.apk there as well.. Still no go
this droid 3 blurhome should just work . But obviously its missing some dependiencies. If anyone can figure it out let me know
i have the whole rom deodexed so i can pull any file necessary
here she goes.. Giving it to the masses to troubleshoot

Its dependency is in the framework mirror service.jar or something very similar however you have to modify the jar to mimic a blur device in order to use it

Edit the build.prop file to use the same model and name as the Droid 3 and you'll be good.

I haven't tried it but I have a strong feeling it will work. That is how apps check what phone they're on. I used Swype on a phone running CM7 before by changing the build.prop to make it think it was an LG Optimus S (it WAS an Optimus S, but they changed the model and name in CM7).
Yeah I remember that swype problem on my evo. Took me a bit to find a working version.

Yeah as long as you have the correct version (MDPI, HDPI) and change the build.prop to a phone that has Swype pre-installed, you're good to go.
tried the build prop edit, still a no go. Maybe I did something wrong??
Can you post a build.prop from the Droid 3 and the Photon? I'll edit the Photon one and upload it back for ya.
here...i'll take the liberty of uploading the build props for you....i'm just as interested in getting this working as everyone else
Try this build.prop. Make sure you don't rename it or anything. If it doesn't work let me know because there is 1 more change that may affect it.

Change carrier name on 2.3.5 ROM to Sprint?

Hey guys, I've been struggling with this for a while. I am on the 2.3.5 Electrify ROM, so it says that my carrier is U.S. Cellular.
I'm trying to change that so the text says "Sprint".
I have tried almost everything I can think of.
I did an ADB pull of the framework-res.apk, decompiled it, hex edited the eri.xml file (changed out the "U.S. Cellular" with "Sprint "), saved it, recompiled the APK, then pushed that to the phone.
Tried all of the carrier name changing .apks, but none of them work.
Any ideas?
Thanks a ton in advance.
i think your main problem is that you are on an electrify rom and not a photon rom
Yeah, that's the root of my problem.
Sent from my Acer Iconia A500 using xda premium
i remeber reading some post a while back with same problem with no good outcome. Do you have insurence? they were saying that you would have to take it to sprint to get out of there. Hope it works out for you.
Read that thread. Someone posted an xml file that fixes it.

Here it is http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=22012299
You need to change the eri xml in the framework-res.apk with one modified to say sprint. Its possible to do right on the phone using an app like ninja morph if you have no knowledge of decompiling, editing, and recompiling apks.
EDIT - I've attached a deodexed framework-res.apk from 2.3.5 which has been modified and displayed "sprint" as the carrier on my phone.

The odex was likely the culprit. That apk also has the apn.xml in it that I took from a sprint build. I used the apn-conf from a sprint build in /system/etc, changed the build prop to use the sprint apn (310120), replaced /data/data/com.Motorola.telephony/db/carriers with the Sprint one and still no go on MMS receiving using the stock app. I have 2 theories to check in my down time but go sms works in a pinch for now.
Cheers!
P.S. if you flashed the electrify zips around check your custom recovery. Install-recovery wasn't removed and it will revert to stock recovery upon booting the first time. CWM can be applied same as before but unless you delete the file it will do the same every time you boot up.
Awesome man. I just tried to APN switch-a-roo (oddly enough before reading your post), and I can't get it to work with the stock app either. I went in the APN.xml file and change the "Carrier: Sprint" to Carrier: U.S.Cellular", and that didn't work either.
Nah trust me, everything from easy to moderate difficulty has been ruled out. I have 2 remaining ideas to test but it will need to wait until I get some free time.
If I figure it out I'll let you know and someone can package a flashable zip with my framework-res, a replacement build.prop, the apn-conf, and whatever else is necessary to get it working. I want nothing to do with owning it so the community will be responsible to package it and support each other but id call that a fair deal.
Again no promises, its contingent on my free time and my GF's tolerance of me on my phone

Been down this road before...
If you look at a logcat of when trying to retrieve a mms you will notice that the remote network (sprint) rejects the connection due to an unkown device.
Unless we can figure out how to change the phone so it does not idenify itself as 2.3.5 then I think we are out of luck.
Spent many days on this and decided it was not worth it.
RJR
Anyone with a 2.3.5 electrify build running on a Sprint photon can download the attached build.prop.txt, edit the name and remove the .txt part so it's only named build.prop, place it in /system. Once you have it in, reboot. It's a sprint-a-fied build.prop for 2.3.5.
Also attached the sprint bootanimation.zip. Just download that and place in /system/media . I know thats bothering someone out there.
For the real purists, while you're in media you might want to check out audio/ringtones and audio/notifications because USC added their own sound file in each you may consider deleting.
EDIT- Almost forgot, you need to set the permissions properly once you move the file(s). Both files should be rw-r--r--
I did both of those things already. Ha.
They actually were really bugging me.

Use my build.prop and after a reboot, please check if MMS receive works. The device fingerprint is changed to the sprint photon fingerprint. I can't test because I currently have one of my blackberries activated to test some other work.
Thanks.
EDIT- also I noticed you said you've been playing around in the apn xml. Please put it back to stock. My build.prop should set your operator as 310120 on boot. Or at least it should. You could check to make sure.

[Q] Where can I get the Torch APK from CM9?

I've installed SearSlim on my at&t Galaxy Note and have set the DPI to 160 for tablet mode. My only issue is that while I still have the toggle available for the flashlight the torch.apk is not included in this rom. Does anyone have it or know how I can obtain it?
I use the free Nexus Torch (dev: farproc) app in the Play Store, works great...same one touch function. There's an app by the same name dev'd by Ben Buxton that kept asking me for SU access.
I don't think that will work with your toggle function though, hopefully someone can UL the apk.
Yeah, I was hoping to be able to use that toggle. I suppose if no one has it handy I can always do a nandroid, install another version of cm9 to get the apk, and install that after restoring.
I got the torch.apk and I thought I might leave a link for it in case someone else is ever in need.

I've had the same trouble ...
I'm convinced that rom mangler (manager ) has something to do with not being able to pull apps from a nandroid backup ..
But of course ...the pro version of titanium isn't 100% reliable either.
It worked well a few days ago ....then yesterday I couldn't extract again .....g
The notification pull down toggle would require some framework and system ui edits to get to work properly I believe...very involved process...however you can always pull apart the Rom either on your computer or in root explorer to get the apk, and then you might be able to install it and have at least the home screen widget toggle for it.

hmmmm ok, well i saw that but skipped over it
because on all my other roms/including stock, i dont remember it being an app,it would just auto-connect
and it was always a system apk as well
let me go check it out though
It was excluded because CM10 has absolutely nothing to do with ATT. Or any phone for that matter. So unless somebody kangs CM10 and adds in an app, it's going to always be as bare bones Android as you can get.
Essentially, CM10 isn't ever a bloat removed version of any phones stock ROM, because it's build from aosp source, so the bloat was never there to begin with, and likely wouldn't be added in anyways.

I like that app as well. That wsa the only thing I didn't like about my ROM, so I did a nandroid, restored to stock, pulled that system app, and restored my nandroid.
Lucky for you and anyone else that wants it, I just happen to have placed it in my Dropbox.
Make sure to place it in /system/app (Don't install it like a normal APK) and change permissions to rw-r--r--
You will need to manually connect to attwifi the first time if you haven't already.

the system app one, like if you're at mcndonalds , will connect to it automatically (mcndonalds is one of the stores on ATnT wifi partnerships)
if you didnt have the app, you can still connect(its free wifi no password) but you would have to first open up a browers, read the agreement, and hit accept blah blah, before you can start using the wifi. again the system app skips all that and just connects you

It also skips all the payment info at some places that still charge for WiFi, so long as it's powered by AT&T. I wouldn't mind having this feature back as well, even though I'd rarely ever use it. Honestly, my cell is faster than the WiFi at any Starbucks or McDonalds around here. But I can see a use for it while traveling. Maybe download one of the stock ROM flashable zips and just extract the necessary apk, put it in /system/app and see if it will work that way. I'd try myself, but I'm a tad busy lately and already in trouble for all my downloading this month.
EDIT: Forgot to mention, the one on Play is too bloated. I don't want that junk handling all my WiFi.

Well, Mr. Useless Retort, I was searching for this very apk and was about to download it until I looked at his stats. You see, the fact that a post is a year old doesn't make a lot of difference if it has information you need. You see, Mr Useless, that's why the forum goes back many years.
Note that my reply wasn't intended for him, it was to warn off anybody else who might think about downloading this.
See how that works??

Yeah I started by doing that....but I decided it was taking too long and it would be easier to do an "adb shell ls" in /system/app and just copy and paste the names of the ones I wanted to get rid of into a zip
Although looking back, that way would've been quicker than making this...but whatever
Just curious. To anyone who has run this, how much space did it free up on the internal storage?

I believe /system has its own, separate amount of storage...so deleting these doesn't get you more space in /data
Not 100 percent sure on that though.
Yeah, just looked in Titanium Backup, System has 1.84GB and Data has 12.2GB
And anyway, these apps are a few megabytes...so....at most maybe a couple hundred megabytes of system are freed up

Just open the zip(don't extract it), navigate to "META-INF\com\google\android" and copy updater-script to your desktop(or anywhere really). Then open it with notepad(I used notepad++, but notepad should work fine) and edit the line that says "delete("/system/app/......". When you've finished adding or removing the apps you want to keep or want to remove save the file and copy and paste it back into the zip.
Let me know if you need me to clarify anything

Worked like a frikken charm man, thanks so much... saved this lazy-arse some time!

Hey, does this script (or one of the apk's in the script) remove the HTC widgets? (I don't have Mail, power bar, toggle widgets, etc.) I believe they were there before I ran the script...

Just curious. To anyone who has run this, how much space did it free up on the internal storage?

I let all the bloatware apps update via the Play Store when I restored my phone after unlocking. It freed up 200MB for me on the data side, no idea on the system side.
Looking back at it, I think the removal of HTC_Widget_ShowMe.apk/HTC_Widget_ShowMe.odex gets rid of all the HTC Widgets. If so, does anyone happen to have a copy of them so I can push them back to my phone?
EDIT: OK, clearly I am a moron, the ShowMe removal did not affect the HTC widgets. I still don't have things like the Mail widget when I go to put a new one on 1 of my screens though. I can see the APK via Root explorer. Anyone have any idea on what the issue may be?

Rexdog, I would appreciate if you would post this info. Would like to have the camera sound muted.
Thanks for sharing your work!

I think you're on to something. I'm also missing the option of adding the HTC widgets although the widget I previously had is still on my home screen.
Somehow this is hiding those widgets from the Widget Screen but not removing them from the system.

Did not realise that was doing that....sorry guys....I'll try to find a copy of them and upload it here for y'all.... And as soon as I'm at my computer I'll edit the zip so it doesn't delete those

Whew, thankfully it's not just me... anyone else confirm that they cannot add any new HTC branded widgets? Or, if you ran this script and can still add widgets, did you omit any of the APK's from the script?
Rexdog: I have the DroidDNA system dump zip file... if you can just post the ADB command to flash the file(s) back, I may be able to find out which one will get this feature back by the time you get to a PC.
