Just bought the S-View cover for my Note 3. I like it but I have two questions:
- When the cover closes, there is about a five second delay before the device locks. If I open the cover after that five seconds, I have to use my pattern to unlock the device. Is there any way to set the cover to automatically lock the device when the cover closes? The only settings I see under the "Lock Screen" section are to automatically unlock the device when the cover is opened (as long as secure lock is disabled), changing the S-View window color, and changing the info shown through the cover when closed.
- When taking a pic through the S-View window, the resolution is 3096*3096 and are rotated 90 degrees counter clockwise. Pics taken natively are 4128*2322 with no rotation. Is this how the S-View is designed? Can this be changed so that pics taken with the S-View cover closed have the native screen resolution? ....and in case anyone was going to respond with, "the S-View window is a square so it can only take what it sees." or some variation of that, I understand the design of the S-View window. I am just curious if the resolution (aspect ratio) can be changed.
This cover blows it left abrasions on my screen protector along the sides of the s view window edges

1) Change the "lock automatically" setting to immediately and that should lock the screen when you close the cover.
2) There is no way to get a 13mp photo with the s view cover camera unless you are rooted. so if you are not , then you can only take pic with that weird resolution. Only the standard camera you can change its setting.
Hope this helps.
Cheers.

I've had the case for ~8 months and no abrasion issues (although the dog got ahold of it, pics HERE)
My screen also locks immediately without changing any settings/everything stock

I returned my s-view to T-Mobile today and got a Tech21. The s-view features were neat but the case would not stay closed causing my Note to wake. I also felt it offered little real protection if it dropped and the lid flopped open it would be like having no case @ all. (imagine it skidding down the driveway with the s-view opening and closing)

Just got my S view case today and I am really liking it. There is nothing keeping the flap down, but I think in a drop it will be decently protected.
Also I thought it would be much more bulkier than it is. Folded back you can hardly tell it's there, other than the edges cutting your fingers
I got mine yesterday and I noticed that I on the right edge (where the stitches are) I had to run my finger across it.
It help the cover stay closed.
I feel that the S-view case needs to have more viewing options. It is very limited to accessing the camera, action memo, and music player. I also don;t like that we can only view incoming calls and text. There should be more options for other apps or at least access notification panel.

I agree, it even displays less icons in the notification bar through the window. Almost a step back from that perspective.
HEY guys i just bought a g note 3 yesterday along with the official s-view cover.
The cover functions in the way as described, but when i fold the cover full towards the back for example i fold it when i text the phones goes in to the s-view mode (like when the cover is closed) note: the cover is still open and folded towards the back of the device.
I would like to know whether this problem is caused by the cover or the phones connectivity with the cover?
Thanks for your help in advance

I used to have a similar problem when I used that case. Instead of going into S-view mode like yours does, mine would do the opposite. When I closed the cover it would show my Home screen through the cover. It sorted itself out eventually. Not sure what causes this though. Sorry I can't really be of any help other than just wait it out, it will probably start working correctly eventually. Your not the only one who has had this kind of issue though.
You should send your cover back under warranty. It is a problem with a magnet on the bottom side of the flip, which in your case is probably too strong.
Don't hesitate, This is a known manufacture problem of a few exemplars, and does not happen in working ones.
Cheers,
K
My s view cover doens't stay shut in most cases. I close it and it opens again - in particular once I opened it completely. Is this normal or are the magnets not strong enough and I should have it exchanged?

Mine does this, too. Not exactly what I expected for that price. But it always closed enough so that s-view was active.

Their are no magnets to keep the case closed. The magnets are there to tell the phone when to enter/exit S-View mode. Case is a good idea, but with it not closing all the way, I took mine back. Waiting on the Spigen S-View case which has a clasp to keep the cover closed. Was just announced and has a shipment date of around the 1st of the year.
I always put my x1 in a bag with case which cover has no magnetic snapon; so the cover always open and close by itself inside my bag. That will automatically wake up my x1 several times in my bag.
How can I disable the auto wakeup?
Simply turn off "display cover" mode.
Settings / display /
Thanks.
Mine don't have the Display Cover mode, but have only Window Cover mode which I believe it is what you mean.
I already made it off. It is just for not displaying the mini display through a front cover having a small window. My X1 display still auto on and off when opening and closing the cover.

Sorry, you are right.
Can't find the place where to deactivate the proximity sensor.

Hi, here how i did it, you will find a magnetic on the right of earpiece on the cover, it trigger the screen, just cut it out
Thanks. That's a bit extreme for me.
Will put it in a rather tight pouch before putting it in my bag.

It's been a while since I've posted on XDA... Found this ROXFIT PRO TOUCH case.... Premium Quality... I just checked the link and it's currently out of stock... Keep checking and get this case! You'll love it!
https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B06XD52Z7G/ref=yo_ii_img?ie=UTF8&psc=1
ROXFIT Cover is back on Amazon with limited stock, hurry and order yours. I have to be honest tho, you'll love the look but it'll take ya a couple of weeks to get use to the case but I promise once you get use to the case, you'll love it! Hit the Thanks button if this helps.
Bought this case 2 weeks ago. Very good build quality. The semi-transparent, touch sensitive cover doubles up as a brilliant privacy filter/anti glare filter. When viewing messages or other text through the cover, you can only see what it says if your face is within 2-3 feet of the screen and *directly* in front of it. Any other angle or distance and it's super blurry. It's also very good if you need to view a notification or the time late at night during sleep hours, as it doesn't emit a glare.
Downside is that the proximity sensor doesn't always detect the cover because of the semi transparency, and as a result sometimes the screen is still on during a phonecall and buttons can be pushed accidentally. I have already gotten comfortable with this though and with unnoticed adjustment I now no longer have any issues with this particular problem.
One last thing, the plastic on the back is a fingerprint magnet. If you pride in your phones current shimmer/shineyness, this case quickly turns it into an intrinsic artwork of pinky marks.
Seems fragile
I just recived mine and I am very disapointed about the quality, I want to be optimistic, but I fear the front "semi-transparent" part will be very fragile (as in the HTC dot view of the One M9).
So does anyone who had it for a longer time could reassure me on the quality of the product, or tell me right away if it's of poor quality ?
Thank you for your answers :good:
PS : is it dangerous to turn the front part all the way to the back ? will it tear the plastic junction down or is it possible ?

Can we set the phone to do different things when opening the flap ? Like on the official case for the xz? and what about the automatic brightness? does the sensor turn the brightness down when you close the flap?

yes kinda
So, is there any kind of feature that keeps the transparent flap closed (as opposed to letting it flap around freely)? The huge problem with the official XZ style cover was that the flap was flapping freely. If one kept the phone magnetically attached to car's dashboard, the flap would constantly flap open and closed as the car accelerated and decelerated. That effectively made that cover unusable. Is this problem fixed in Roxfit cover?

Maybe this can help you?
I was looking around for a smart case as i get so annoyed having to manually turn the phone on and off. Always remember one of my Samsung's having this by default.
I purchased a standard flip cover case from amazon, then slid under the top part of the cover a 6 x 1 mm disc magnet, south 0.33kg pull reversed.
Now whenever i open and close my case the phone turns on and off automatically.
Just make sure smart case is enabled in the settings. And enable unlock lock sounds, then you can hear it locking when you close.
