[Q] How ti install OTA update on rooted K900 - Lenovo K900

Hi,
I cannot install the OTA upgrade on my phone.
1. Is it because my phone is rooted?
2. If so, is there a way to successfully install the ugrade without losing root?

1. YES
2. NO. OTA update is available only for stock, nonrooted rom. U can find the newest software at needrom, or kaskus for all roms..

If upgrade to official HTC 2.1 ROM, can still root and install other roms?

I have survived a long time on stock 1.5 rom. Have been waiting a long time for 2.1 rom. Now that it is finally coming to me, I am starting to consider if I should just root and install all the other roms out there now, just in case stock 2.1 cannot be rooted....
any comments ?
I am using a singapore hero ..
2.1 cannot currently be rooted, do not flash it if you want to root.
Thread moved.
just root and install a 2.1 rom, theyr exactly the same but with a root features
yeah i was also gonna ask the same question .. it was running whole time on my mind ..
Currently i am on official 1.5 firmware , i am waiting for 2.1 update also i didn't root my phone yet but planning to what if i install official 2.1 update ? later i can not root Hero ? & can't install or flash any Custom ROM ?
Or root now & install Custom ROM ?
would just say you can not root after you upgrade to offical 2.1 from HTCs site or OTA or RRU file...
while you are on 1.5 root!
once you have a custom recovery you can flash a update.zip file that contains 2.1 offical upgrade minus the SPL upgrade and recovery and radio..
it would be just silly for anyone to install the offical update direct from htc. there have been so many threats about this...
hope this helps though

few qns here!

Hi. a new user here.
recently i did an official 2.1 update via the ota.
1) is it true that after the official 2.1 ota update, i cant root my phone?
2) if true, is there any possible methods for me to go back to os 1.5 and update via the 2.1 roms.
thanks alot!

Can i flash the stock Lollipop ROM without loosing ROOT (from Experifirm) ?
Does someone have a firmware package (FTF) prerooted wich i can flash with flashtool. I dont want to flash recovery....because i lost all my data triing that

Need help on update, on rooted device

My current version of Xperia Z ultra is 14.6.A.0.368. I have rooted the same. Now new version 14.6.A.1.216 is released, I can update it through OTA or through flashtool.
My question is that if I update through OTA, will I loose the Root or not. Is there any steps through which I can update and preserve my Root status.
Please reply.

If your system is currently rooted, especially if you out your apps have applied any changes to the /system partition. the OTA will download but will not flash. So effectively you will not be able to upgrade via OTA, let alone lose root.
I have posted instructions to upgrade to 216 with root in the general section:

Updates after root?

Hi,
If you only root the phone and custom firmware has not been installed, do you still get OTA updates?
Thank you
