Upgrade Question [POLL] - Sprint Samsung Galaxy Note 3

Now that the Note 4 has been announced and releases of the actual device will be coming around mid October, what are you guys going to do? Take the standard Note 4 or wait even longer for the sexy Edge?
CHIME IN!!

Note 4 specs have me not seeing much reason to upgrade. NSA, U.S.G., and carrer iq stuffs have me thinking my next phone is going to be one a little less tampered with.
I don't like what they did with note 4's screen either(like the s3's) if you set it face down it's sitting on the glass. Note edge I can imagine a lot of these getting broken.
When it comes down to it though, I'll upgrade when phones mirror 4k screens or when theres a min of 50% more processing power.

Note vs Note2

First time I've been in the 'Note' section. I'm up for an upgrade with AT&T [have an Atrix right now], and just wondering how everyone here likes their Note? I browsed around, and it seem development has come along nicely and people have good stable versions of CM9 running on the Note. If you have a second, would love to hear what you like and dislike about it. Trying to decide whether to get the Note now, or wait for the Note2 to come out, or possibly go with something else.
Any thoughts welcome and appreciated!
Thanks
-Josh-
I feel like that is hard to say because it's like would you like a 2008 car or the same car 2012 model you know? Especially since it hasn't come out yet or the specifications have not been announced (as far as I know). I hear that they should be announcing it towards the end of August but who knows when it will come out after that and if it will be the International version or AT&T version. Tough decisions.
Like:
-Screen size (I don't know how I would get along with an even larger screen, this one seems perfect to me)
-I actually really like our processors, Exynos sounds like it has more problems although it is a bit faster
-Our developers (I adore my phone to no end because our development section is seriously the best)
Dislikes:
-Black crush although I have not noticed it really on my personal device
-The cracks that some of the white notes have near the rocker ( I have the "blue" one)
-Call quality ugh
Hope this helps at least a little bit. I wanted the Atrix for the longest because it was the biggest phone for a little bit. Oh how times have changed.
Good luck with your decision making. PM me if you have any specific questions about the Note experience.
Ur right i dont know if i want a bigger phone ..but! The note 2 will be slimmer i love mine now so i say ill prolly buy it lol

Welcome to the "Note" section. I currently own an Atrix and a G-Note as well. I must say I still enjoy my Atrix a lot and find myself using it all the time. The Atrix works really good with CM9 and the battery life is superb so I am mostly using it strictly as an mp3 player. The DSP Manager in the CM9 rom sounds beautiful. As for the G-Note, I just can't see myself going back to a smaller screen size. Being an artist and attending comic convention I especially love the screen size to view my art on the go or use the S Pen to do a quick sketch to iron out an idea. The photos and videos are beautiful with the G-Note. Being able to attach a flash drive for sharing files or even hooking it up to a large TV to operate it like a desktop are deal breakers when compared to other competitors.
I haven't really found anything that I didn't like about the G-Note. With all the different roms floating around in the forum it's kinda hard not to find a rom to your liking. Which brings me the G-Note 2. Due to the fact that it's so new don't expect a lot of roms or support right out of the box. Though if you've never owned a G-Note then why not hold out for the latest and the greatest? I won't be eligible for an upgrade until December which is cool for me because by that time all those hard working Devs would most likely have lots of Mods and roms available to try out. And that 5.5 inch screen in the new G-Note 2 is nothing to sneeze at.
I love the note and there are a lot of great roms for it but depending on how long you want to wait it may just be worth it. The other thing is the note 2 is going to be bigger, in my opinion the note is big enough already but it's all up to you

Wait til the next version of the Note is announced to make your choice. It shouldn't be too long.
Once the gnote 2 solidifies I can address it directly. Until then I can share some observations about the existing gnote. I came directly from the captivate, which except for the abysmal gps, is still an extremely nice phone. The first thing I stress tested on the gnote was its gps. It uses both the Russian glonass and US satellites and the results are fantastic; even indoors, I can fix my position to within 9ft. Samsung clearly decided to address their previous shortcomings in this arena. The processor is responding well to extensive development and is shaping up for a very long successful run. The screen quality is to me is another major factor, I to am aware of the so called "black crush" but attribute it to pushing the still new amoled display technology to its limits. Overall, for me the graphical gains achieved outweigh this negative effect. That said, I can't but believe that Samsung, a company famous for displays, will sit still in further perfecting this promising young technology. So, if Samsung released an improved amoled tech that say, significantly reduced energy requirements while also demonstrating an enhanced resolution, then I would be sorely tempted. I do get great battery life, particularly given the humongous display but who doesn't want more? The thing is if you wait, you could get the gnote for a steal off contract, then after the gnote2 matures,if it is bug free and has some compelling technical advancements, then you can jump maybe 3-6 months into its release. That seems to me a win win but your mileage may differ. Either way, good luck with your choices whatever you decide.

Honestly, the Note is everything I've wanted in a phone. The only complaint anybody can really have about it is the minor black crush issue. And even that doesn't bug me much. Other than that I don't have a single complaint.
That being said, waiting for the Note 2 would probably be worth it at this point. The improvements won't be enough to make me upgrade early, but if you're deciding on what to buy right now I would wait it out.
Either way you'll be happy. And I wouldn't go for anything else except maybe the gs3. Samsung is absolutely killing it right now IMO.

The announcement for the Note 2 is just around the corner. Although there is a problem. Unless the new Exynos will support LTE, it will probably take longer for it to get to the states.

I see it taking the same route add the gs3, international will be different, but the USA version will release roughly the same time

Today I played with the S3. It is really fast BUT the screen seems small. Even though its only .5 smaller than the note...in my hand..it felt small. That shows that I wont be satisfied going back to a smaller screen. So Note 2 definitely for me whenever its released. Honestly, if youre not in a hurry...wait for the Note 2. If you you really want it now...get it. We just received official ICS so its still a great device.

Get the international note1 online for $200-250 and when the note 2 comes out, sell that note1 on craigslist and use the money to buy the note2 on contract for the discounted price.:fingers-crossed::victory:
for $200 where?

I'd love to know where you can get the N7000 for $200 please tell?
I have the i717 which I think is great apart from my g/f complaining she can't hear me properly during phone conversations.
I'd go for the N7000 unless you really need LTE, you get option to boost volume 'Voodoo Louder' and FM Radio and arguably better processor but not sure on that. Personally I like the look of the i717 better than the N7000.
Size wise I wouldn't get the GS3 too narrow, possibly the HTC Sensation XL but an even bigger Note is fine by me. Contemplating getting a Galaxy Tab 7.7 anyway. A Note 7.7 would be my prefect device with a quad core CPU, hopefully the Note2 will have quad core.
I just pick up a galaxay note refurbish for 200, as an early upgrade from att. It is amost impossable to find a second hand set for less than 450. The att version is still new and tmoble is getting theirs next month. Non of the quad core chip sets can process american lte so far. I would think a us note would not hit he shelf till next year. However there has yet to be a chipset named that could handle lte for the u.s. We would have heard something about this already.

I love my note. The only thing I dislike about my note is the battery door.
Coming from the Atrix to the Note the only thing I miss is the Atrix vibrate motor. The note feels like a fast buzz instead of a solid rumble.
I got an Atrix on launch day and replaced with with the Note on launch day and hated that phone each and every single day that I used it. The headphone jack stopped working, then the wifi and gps stopped as well.
I heard about the Note last summer. At that timebitbwas rumblings. I waited until February 19, sitting on my Atrix coming from the Dell Streak prior for thus magnificent phone.
I love this phone. Love it so much I bought it twice. My first one was stolen.
As great a phone this is I will get the Note 2. However wow it will literally be 6 months from the first and second releases of this phone. I'm greatful for the quality of this phone and I'm great with a bigger screen. I'm still learning about this phone. I just wonder if this is hurting the Note with such a quick turnaround of the 2.
I'm not going to lie. Ill get it lol.
The Noteworthy Note. Running OBJECTION rc1 UCLF5 / h0tw1r3's r4 OC.
I'm definitely waiting for the new Note. I do have the original, but to think that it could be bigger, slimmer and come with Jelly Bean. I... am going crazy lol.

Haha. You know .5 inches is actually an extremely massive difference right? It's not a linear progression. It even looks bigger because its 16:10 and wider.
Uh, people here need to stop saying its gonna be bigger. The SCREEN will be longer by .2" in the diagonal, but the overall phone size will stay the same, and might even get smaller. Definitely slimmer. The 4.8" SIII has similar dimensions to older 4.5" 16:10 phones with thicker bezels. There are many other examples... The key here is the change in aspect ratio, from 16:10 to 16:9. It'll probably have the same screen width, although I don't have any numbers handy.
Yeah there'll plenty of $200-250 notes on ebay. They usually say CRACKED and SOLD FOR PARTS ONLY. You can get a used one in the low $400s. A new one for >$450. Expansys-USA has the cheapest retail price I've seen for a non-eBay semi-trustable site at $520. Plenty of testimony about them helping out with warranties as well floating around xda.
Be aware that this so called "around the corner" is in fact the IFA tradeshow in Berlin on August 31. That will be for the international note 2. It's expected to come out in October in international markets, not the USA. Who knows when it will arrive stateside? The original note didn't even come out on AT&T til January, and was released internationally in October as well. An Optimistic guess would be before the holiday season, a good 4-5 months away. It's not an iPhone competitor so won't have to rush to market like the GS3.
Can you wait 4-5 months, or maybe even until Jan 2013 for the Note 2?

Galaxy s4 or galaxy note 2 (quick?)

So now they been out a whole min. What's yours thought is the s4 better than s4active. Maybe the note 2. I've used these both for a week not sure from a mixing modding point of view. Any input is great. This has been asked before I'm sure. What's the bests phones out for android.?? If you could upgrade for 0.00 what would you do and why? Thanks

Woudnt this be better in the General Android area to get a much larger feedback than that of the Note users. Since not a single device mentioned is the Note.
The Wife has the Active. A friend has the S4. Another friend the Note 2. The main difference is screen size at first glance. Then you start nit picking and see that the Active is waterproof and all that. The S4 has a better camera. The Note 2 has larger screen and Stylus.
So really which one do you like more?
The best phone is the one that does what you want with having the features you want. What I want isnt what you want so my opinion means little to nothing to you. I like the LG Optimus G Pro over any of the phones mentioned. That is cause it is the size I want, has the features I want and does what I want.
So really nothing anyone says anywhere on the net can help you by telling you which is the best, you decide that for yourself.
My wife has a Note 2, and I just purchased an S4 for my father today. As much as I love the size of the Note, if I was forced to go Note 2 or S4, I'd go S4. The screen is perty, it was fluid, and I feel like the ROM base for it -- I've not looked -- would be insanely expansive as would the number of devs working on it. That said though, I don't touch the wife's Note 2 as it makes me envious. I always want to hit her when I see her on it for 15 straight hours then tell me her "battery is sucking" and it still has like 70% left.
Now, Note 3 vs S4, I think I'd then go with the Note 3, as I reckon it'll have all the fanciness of the S4 with the size we all <3.

This is from a non modding point of view based on stock settings....
The regular S4 isn't that much different than the S4 active. You can either have a water resistant S4 with 8 megapixels, or a regular S4 with 13 megapixels. I read the active isn't as vivid as the regular version also. I'd take which ever one is cheaper. If they were both free I'd take the regular one. It's a very cool phone with lots of fluff features and has the latest software. It's powered by 1.9ghz quad core.
The Note 2 is a larger phone with stylus. If you think you'll be using the pen a lot, and want a larger screen than the S4, this is the phone for you! It's not the latest software. You'll have an 8 megapixel camera and a slower 1.6ghz quad core.
From a mixing modding point of view...
If you have the S4 with the latest software I don't think you can currently mod it at this time. The bootloader is locked. That means the Note 2 wins.
In my opinion... I'd wait for the Note 3!

If your partial to the note lineup man I strongly recommend the note 2. I had it, but broke it to the point of no fixing. It was awesome while I had it. I've gotten a chance to play with an S4 also, and while it is very fluid, the note 2 with the right custom ROM/Kernel combo on the note 2 works just as well in day to day use. You may honestly only see the difference in heavy gaming or emulation & that's the honest truth. That enhanced speed is placebo IMO. I will say the camera and screen on the S4 is FANTASTIC, but I'm perfectly happy with the 8mp cameras that samsung puts out as well as having a 720p screen. I don't need 1080p just yet......emphasis on the yet lol. From the modding point of view, I'm sure the S4 will have just as many mods and custom roms available for it as the note 2. The screen size was the most shocking thing for me though. Having used the note's 5.3 inch 16:10 aspect ratio for so long, and then using the S4's 5 inch 16:9 aspect ratio screen threw me for a loop.
If you can hold out though I have high hopes for that delicious powerhouse note 3.
I would wait another couple of months for the Note III. That's what I am doing.

[Q] From Note 2 to Note 3

Hi Guys, currently I have the Note 2. do you recommend taking the Jump to the Note 3 or waiting for the new stuff?. If so, what advantages do I have?
Thanks..
if money is not a problem only then otherwise it's a no no,as I myself have used both and I think there is no major difference that will open your mouth( like from note to note 2)
my advice wait until next August maximum, as in note 3 there is not a groundbreaking tech ( same octa, same 3 th etc etc) ,now next year the tech to own will be OLED CURVED DISPLAY ( like in galaxy round or LG g flex ,but they are nwe so they're mostly like prototypes ) and that my friend ,will be Chuck Norris like thing,

No stay on the note 2.. As an addition I only say this cause of the Knox I The note 3.. If you are going to run stock then it doesn't matter and in that cause I would say yes. . Much faster better camera ability to move apps to sd slightly bigger screen.. But Knox is a real pain if you want to route and do things .
I have both and thought that the Note 3 was a waste of money. I no longer feel at way. I think the Note three is better in everyway. Looks good, feels good, Scover is very helpful. The software is better. The only thing I miss is text flow in the browser.

i think it's not a leap like note to note 2. note 2 to note 3 is like a large step. it's nice. i was going to wait for the other rumored note 3's like flex display and active versions but I can't help it. i had to get it. the specs and full hd display was too alluring.
I listed the pros and cons here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2489871
Not worth the jump to me. Played with a Note 3 extensively and came away not so impressed compared to the Note 2. Would rather just wait for whatever official update is due the Note 2 (well the Sprint version) that brings to it some parity in terms of software features.
I find it interesting that so many people that say that the Note 3 is not worth the upgrade and won't do it are hanging around in a Note 3 forum... just saying.. LOL
I work at a company that has over 600 Note 2's issued to employees. In my opinion, the Note 3 is a good step above the Note 2. Maybe the Note 2 will get a software upgrade, but the hardware will not change. The Note 3 is faster, has more RAM, larger storage options, larger, higher resolution screen, etc.
If you're always waiting for the next best phone, you'll never get one. In today's world, technology is obsolete the day after it is delivered. That said, I recommend that you get your hands on a Note 3 at the Sprint store and compare how it performs to your current phone and make an educated decision based on your personal preferences.
Like most I'm incline to keep the Note 2. agree with the last post but in a couple of months something better may come up. don't get me wrong, I'm watching Swappa very close to see if there is a good price on a Note 3 but in the mean time I'm staying put....

pal like 1ghz this was a boom in 2010(galaxy s)
then dual core was a another blast in 2011( LG 2x)
then quad core ( LG 4x)
this year nothing is like New except the camera in lumia 1020 and other android phones just a little bit more ram a little bit processor (2.5 etc) and more screen and resolution there is nothing groundbreaking tech this year at all that stands apart( hmmm LG g2 rear buttons may be a exception)
BUT NEXT YEAR 2014 it's the time of oleds and CURVED DISPLAYs baby, and that my friend will be a awesome thing to have...
if you have money go note 3 but if you have wise money wait for note 4
(talking specifically about android and note series may have left something to mention like finger scanner in i5s)

Galaxy 9s+ now or wait for Note 9??

Using an old note 4.
2 new batteries and it still just conks out when it feels like it. Does the reboot loop until i plug it in...desided to give up the ghost and get a new phone.
I know the New note 9 will be available around end of Aug..but i wondered if i just bought a 9s+ would i see much of a difference?? Will there likely be a big jump in processing power and Ram...and would i actually notice? Thing is 9S+ is here now..plenty cases and extras out there etc...tempting..any suggestions?? Thxs
Note 9 is rumoured to have a 4000mah battery. I am not fully satisfied with the battery life of my s9+. The processing speed should be similar as they will use the same SOC. I suggest you to wait till note 9 announcement and then decide.

Here is the real question, would you rather have an S Series or a Note Series?
If you prefer the S Series then get the s9+ now. If you prefer the Note series I would wait.
I used to be a big Note fan but when they started making the S Series with curved glass I have stuck with them and skipped the note series.
AS the guy above me said, Memory and CPU / GPU are going to be the same ones as in the S9+ so you will not loose anything there.
So yeah, I was in the same dilemma recently and choose the S9+. The Note has a lot of features that I will never use them. Starting with the S-Pen.
I'd wait even if you decide on the s9+, the S9+ may drop in price once the Note9 comes out and the s9/s9+ isn't the "latest and greatest" anymore.
I bought note 8 and it is too big for me and too heavy. The battery was too small but the pen was fantastic. I decided to sell it for buy s9+ and I'm very happy. The battery isn't fantastic but allows you to get to the end of the day. I recommend you s9 + now, you save money and you have a great phone

As @vishnu8058 mentioned, Im too not so happy with the batterylife . Though its acceptable , i've experienced superior batterylife in several other flagships in recent times. Keeping that in mind alone, I would simply wait till August end if I were you.
..
There will be no big jump in processor or such as it would come with the same SD845/Exynos 9810 SoC, but an 8 GB RAM/512 GB storage- region specific Note 9 may show up that may not interest you. Rest deciding factor should be the size, S-pen usability, weight , your taste on samsung environment and ofcourse the price :fingers-crossed:
I did a similar jump but from Note 4 to S8+ last year, contemplating the same dilemma as to whether to wait for Note 8 or not. In the end, I had the Note 3 and Note 4 and with either I almost never used the pen, which is really the main selling point over the S series, so I went with the S8+ (with the S8+ and later the physical screen size difference is much less than it used to be between the S and Note series).
Heres the thing...
I lost my pen from the note 4 soon after i got it...and desided i wasnt going to replace it as i didnt need it. Thats how i feel about note 9. Im not interested about the pen. All im interested in is:
(Not in any order)
Storage
Ram
Chip speed/ gpu
Battery
Screen quality/size
Sound
This is really why i posted...perhaps i should have started out with this email...apologies for the waffle..lol

It's clear that you don't need a Note device, BUT still the jump in battery is something that I think many people would appreciate, BUT we need to remember what happened last time Samsung tried to put a decent battery size in a Note phone.
Size is another to keep in mind, because Note series are usually bigger, and trust me when I say that the S9+ is already a big phone; yes, is still manageable, but for me S9+ is in the limits of what you can handle or you can carry in your pocket without problems.
Price will also be another factor, because you will be paying a huge difference (~30%) just for an upgrade in battery, because you won't be using all those features that justify the price of the Note 9, and currently you can grab sweet deals with the S9+, and when the Note 9 comes out, price will slightly decrease as well.
Overall S9+ is a really nice phone and as long as you spend time setting it, you would get enough juice for a day.

All checked. Bruh if high batterytime matters to you thn it's not the GS9+.GN8 is the one I went back from s9+ aftr quite smtime <pen rarely useful to me> but I'm OK with it and excited to upgrade to GN9
Im genuinly tempted to go for the g9s+.
Reasons..
1. Its out now
2. Plenty reviews..seems pretty solid.
3. Been out long enough..plenty good cases / access.
4. Getting cheaper/better deals
5. Gs series seems to now be the flagship phone. Note series just fills in the gaps between iphone/competitors hardware release.
Wot else should be on this list?
Also do u think the upgraded hardware on the n9 with outperform the 9s+?? Is it a new chip or the same..as there will be an upgrade in ram to 8gb..surely thats going to make a huge difference??

I think the performance is going to be very similar, if not identical. There almost certainly won't be a hardware upgrade for the Note 9 (excepting the reported RAM increase), the chipset is likely to be the same as the S9 and S9+ (like the Note 8 vs S8/S8+ last year). It seems to be confirmed now that the design of Note 9 won't change much since the Note 8, just like the S9 and S9+ this year, so they should also all look almost the same.
The Galaxy S series have always been Samsung's flagship phone -- the Note series have been considered 'phablets' due to the size of the device, although the line got a little blurred with the 'plus' editions of the S series - S6 Edge+ (Note 5 was the same size), S7 Edge (the Note 7 was 0.2" larger), S8+ (the Note 8 was 0.1" larger) and S9+ (seems like the Note 9 will be 0.2" larger).
I think you need to decide between the following criteria (you've stated the pen isn't important to you so, so that's not on the list):
Price (S9+ will be cheaper, probably by quite a bit, than the Note 9 at launch and for some time after). This is probably going to be the single biggest difference between the two.
Battery (Note 9 is suggested to have a 4000mAh battery vs the 3500mAh on the S9+).
RAM (I don't think the 8GB is going to make a any noticeable difference over 6GB in normal day-to-day use, and bear in mind more RAM means a little bit more power usage - haven't got any hard numbers about that, mind, so I don't know actual practicalities on it).
Storage (It seems the Note 9 may have a 512GB version on top of the others, though it will be pricey).
I am perhaps biased given I have the S9+, but personally I would've gone for the S9+ and gotten the phone now rather than wait - but that's me
Either will be a great choice, and neither will be a mistake - particularly coming from a Note 4.
Any advantage to buying an international sim free compared to a locked phone say with o2 or voda?

Not in terms of specs or anything. All comes down to the deal, and buying an operator-locked phone obviously requires you to unlock if you want to switch operator (something they are obliged to do by law on request, so it's not an issue, just a consideration to make). Usually you end up paying more for the phone over the term of the contract under which you purchase it, but obviously the upside is you pay monthly until the end of the contract and don't have to splurge out the money up front.
I got the galaxy s9+ from samsung store 4 days back and I am absolutely loving it. Got a total discount of 14k INR which is good in my opinion. The battery is hit or miss but aparat from that I am loving every bit of it.
I feel the Note is too large to carry around and with bigger screen size + additional note functions its going to suck the 4000mah battery at same rate as galaxy s9+

Fun fact : For the same type of RAM, more RAM consumes more power negligibly in comparison to less RAM of the same type. In fact , more RAM variant of the phone takes overall less power than a lesser RAM variant of the same phone if the user is quite a multitasker as more RAM helps in multitasking by keeping more apps & tasks opened giving less stress to the CPU as it doesn't have to work on re-opening them. :fingers-crossed:

Are you thinking of cancelling your preorder?

Looking at the speculation about the upcoming Galaxy S11, I'm wondering whether to cancel my preorder, hold on to Note 8, and wait for the Note 11.
For me, coming from the Note 8 to the Note 10 is quite an upgrade, but it's been spoiled by the negativity surrounding it.
It's possible that next years Note 11 will have a higher screen refresh, a new camera with 10x zoom, 5G on the SOC and hopefully no punch hole.
I know that the next big thing is always around the corner, but has the furore surrounding this years Note left a slightly bitter taste for you, as it has me?
Anyone else facing this dilemma,
I have a Note 8 and I'm getting the Note 10. Plus. It's a big upgrade from the 8. I don't care what others think. I like the phone and I'm getting it and can't wait.

Agree with you. I too have an N8 and N10 plus is a pretty decent upgrade.
Upgrading or not is an individual's choice and one may or may not have many reasons to upgrade or leave N10. I had decided not to upgrade from N8 and was waiting from Mate 3 Pro, but then i was in a Mall shopping & i crossed a Samsung Cafe and thought of checking the demo unit of N10 & i fell in love with its overall beauty and pre-booked it.

I tend to agree with you, for me, these controversies started with the pre release leaks that over hyped what to expect.
People were talking about 90hz screens, 10x zoom on 48 megapixel sensors, sound on display and free wireless buds.
It's then becomes a bit galling when none of it materialises on the Note, but yet competitors and even some Samsung non flagships are touted as getting these features.
What makes it worse is that Samsung developed these technologies and then produces them for it's competitors, but omits them on what's meant to be it's marquee device.
I have cancelled mine as it is not good enough to justify an upgrade from Note 9. I will have a look at what Huawei and Google have to say and decide thereon... In the meanwhile I do respect everyone' s opinion and decision...

My daughter has a Note 9, which I was in two minds of getting for her at the time, since I didn't consider it much of an upgrade from the 8.
I totally understand your stance, and in this period that we've entered of only incremental upgrades, the 'Note' upgrade cycle will for most people be biannual.
Duh.................................................nah. Not cancelling my preorder, there will always be a bigger and better phone right around the corner. I did get free wireless buds and a 10,000 mAh Portable Battery. Not as much as in the past but if you don't want it.....................................just wait.
I won't cancel mine now cause for a decent amount off when ordering from Very. I did expect possibly to get wireless earbuds but I think that was just cause I was hoping. Going from the note 8 also I very happy with my choice so far. Yeah I used my headphone jack before but I'll adapt as we all will have too soon
Don't base your decision on Note 11 rumours. Any Note 11 spec is just speculation and fantasy. How many years did people speculate things like a foldable, or in screen thumbprint reader before anything was released with those?
Will the Note 11 be better than the Note 10? Hopefully they get better with each version. The real question is are you ready to upgrade your Note 8? If so get the 10, if not, see what comes out next year.
Upgrading from the S9+. I figure it'll be a great update since it's a generation back. Plus, I like larger phones and the pen will come in handy. Also, I already use wireless buds at the gym, so the lack of a headphone jack is not a deal-breaker for me.
this 10x optical zoom?
what's the zoom on the note 10+ ?
I have the note 9 and I plan to upgrade. Reason is the trade in each year makes it worth it. I only spent 300 on my note 9 when I traded in my note 8 and the 10+ will only cost me 500 (300 when you factor in the accessories they give you). By the time the note 11 comes out I'm sure Samsung will give you a trade in allowance just like they did for the 10.
Hellz no.
I'm going from an S10 plus and Note 9 to a Note 10 plus.
I will so get the S11 and the Note 11 lol.
I've been doing this pretty much since the S3 with few exceptions along the way.
I also get a new google device yearly as well since the galaxy nexus other than the 1st gen pixel and pixel 3 xl (because they both were terrible).
No sense waiting...get what you want now then just do it again once the next device drops that you like.

Exactly. Doesn't make sense to wait. There's a huge difference between the 9 and the 10+, let alone the 8! I'm paying 340 for mine with the trade-in, barring they don't deny the hairline cracks in the back (not effecting the camera or screen).

I once was that guy. Upgraded my phone every year.. until the Note 7 incident. Which to me was over blown also.. That's when we were downgraded to the S7. Hated that phone and thought I will be a note user for life. After I got the Note 8 and saw the note 9. I felt it wasn't worth the upgrade. So yes now I will be upgrading on even numbers. Odd numbers will get the best new features. And even numbers we get a little extra icing on our cake. I still don't see what all this disappointment is about this phone. I'm sorry but we have gotten spoiled about having all these great innovations every 6 months. I will say this. Hell you could have an Iphone.

I think most of the noise and disappointment could have been avoided if Samsung named the models differently. The Note10+ is really what Note users expect in a Note phone. If they would have called it the Note 10 and the smaller one the Note 10e I don't think there would be as many negative comments about this release.

Agree. My daughter got the S10 and the wife got the S10e, which is actually the S10 with a flat screen and slightly lower specs which is essentially what the Note 10 is except for the flat screen.

That's exactly what happened to me and where I stand. I also didn't get the Note 9 as I didn't see it as much of a worth while upgrade from the Note 8. But the Note 10+ is a different story and is why I'm getting it. I honestly don't care about the headphone jack as I rarely use it. My only thing is the notification light, but even then I am normally paired to my S3 Frontier so I also don't see that as much of an issue either. It wasn't even until I went into a T-Mobile store and saw and interacted with the demo unit that I was sold on getting the phone and also what sold me on not getting it in the aura glow color.
I have been having this disease of buying every new Samsung flagship since S- I9000. I said YES to my regular retailer who called me up for a preorder.
I got the chance to use the the non-retail N10+ for a day recently. Completely based on my own tastes, I'm finding this Note 10+, for the first time ever on a Galaxy Note , not adequately upgraded enough from its immediate "S" predecessor that I own, even though it's been upgraded in few other ways.
In short, I might end up cancelling it.Even if I buy after all, I will not be using it more than 3 months from now, as I am pretty sure I will be buying what Google has for us anyways on 1st release to replace daily driver - thriving to use ideas based on innovation that should actually work, that I'm not seeing in a long time.
