[Q] Help getting fastboot setup on V7 3740 - Dell Venue

So I've been trying to get fastboot active on my Venue 7 3740, but when I follow Dell's instructions located in there documentation at Dell's opensource site and xFSTK does not detect the tablet. I don't think I am doing anything wrong, but it isn't working and I have been unable to find anything on the 3470 tablet besides Dell's files.
Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.

"For those of you who don’t know about NVflash this is the ultimate tool for recovery and flashing roms. This tool can bring your device back from the dead in most any situation, even those hard to fix corrupted bootloader issues. It will allow full recovery of device, backup of all partitions on device and individual flash of partitions."

Well actually you can't use it because you probably don't have SBK (Secure Boot Key), nvflash crypts comands whit SBK and if the SBK isn't provided it terminate session and shutdown your atrix.
But if wee could get SBK from Motorola then all hard bricked atrix can bee recovered or maybee wee can port WINDOWS 8 RT to atrix.

Hi guys, I'm a new user here. I've tried to install a new cyanogen rom on my ATRIX and for some reason got stuck on the main Unlocked screen where it keeps looping over and over and it doesn't go anywhere. I've tried to enter the ANDROID RECOVERY mode in order to swap and reset it, but it doesn't allow me to. Can anyone help me, please? I don't really know what to do. I hope I can find some clues here, it is my only chance.

Fastboot not Working for Nook

I have looked but I cannot find anything on how to get fastboot for Nook Tablet working (and yes I do have CM9 0.05.1) and I want to flash recovery but it is not recognizing my Nook. All it has on device manager is Other Devices/ Acclaim with an exclamation point. Please help
Hi, have you installed adb succesfully in your pc previously?
If yes then the next thing you need is fastboot.exe file, if not then start with that first then fastboot.
You can find what you need here, also if you search in my threads (link in my signature) you can find a tutorial about how to install and use ADB.
~ Veronica
Acclaim
I have the same challenge. I have ADB working successfully (and have used Veronica's guide to repartition my NT - thanks again). Yet when I use Cyanoboot and start Fastboot my device shows up in Other Devices as Acclaim and none of the USB drivers I have pointed to get installed. It isn't mission critical that I solve this but it would be nice from a knowledge base to understand what I am missing in case I ever need to use Fastboot. It seems to be a much easier tool to change the installed Recovery image than ADB. Any help would be appreciated.
adb works for me. i currently have cyanoboot, when i try to go to start fastboot to install a new recovery, i notice in my device manager there is an uninstalled driver called "Acclaim". Already tried the NT drivers for it and it didn't work. Any ideas? I recently flashed succulent's cm7 image which had a cwm v5.0.x and i want to flash cwm v 5.5.x. Already tried using indirect's NT recovery flasher and no go on that...

I don't have windows so I won't comment on that. There is one thing that I never see mentioned when talking of adb access problems.
On custom roms (your case cm9 0.05.1) in settings, developer options, Android debugging should be checked to allow adb access. If not checked that may be your issue.
If I'm having adb issues and it was working previously I'll boot to cwm (5.5.0.4 version not 5.0.2 or whatever) and go from there.
You should get adb working properly, but to flash recovery you can use one of the flashable zip files while in cwm. They work for me!
Got a few minutes on a windows 7 pc (people should take their breaks at their desk). If you are using Veronicas thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=22049356&postcount=1 you will find a file runmefirst.bat if you run it and follow instructions about unplugging and replugging nook it will create and setup the previously mentioned file. Do not run zergy as suggested. When it pulls device manager your exclamation should say nook. Right click it, update driver software, browse my computer, let me pick, and then choose the directory with your usbdrivers, tell it yes to use them. Do not worry about anything else from runmefirst.bat including anything else to run. You just want it to set the codes for your nt and then it is of on use.
I had adb working for my nt quickly on that windows 7 pc. It had no previous adb or usb drivers installed.
Good Luck
I got nook tablet drivers installed and it works for adb however fastboot still has acclaim!
anyone have steps how to fix this?

like i said in a previous post, right click the acclaim item under other devices and look for the product id and edit the android_winusb.inf accordingly.
after that right click acclaim, update driver software, and browse for the drivers yourself. if all goes well fastboot should work. this is how i did it. not that i ever really use fastboot but its good to have just in case.
Is there any step-by-step tutorial on how to flash NT with fastboot? I have tried to search, but still could not get it work.
Thanks.

Check your android_winusb.inf to see if you have the right entry for the NT -- see http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=35971559&postcount=13.

Why not flash your NT using SD-based CWM Recovery (e.g., see http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=37515697&postcount=31)?
The easiest way under windows, is just choose the driver on your own, use the driver from the Android SDK (sdk\extras\google), and you will be presented with a couple of options, choose Android Composite ADB Interface.

[Q] Can Lelus root method be done in Linux?

I'm a newbie, so can't post in development, so I have to open a thread here. I've thouroughly read Cmahendra's excellent rooting guide in development. The process seems clear, but it is totally Windows based. Is there a way to accomplish the same thing in Linux? I could convert the. bat files to scripts, and already have a Linux version of adb, so that is no problem. What other software do I need drivers, executables, etc. to get this done? If that is impossible, can I accomplish the root in a VMware virtual machine running XP?
I have attached the phone to my linux box in LG software mode, and it appears in adb using the device command. With adb shell, I am able to noodle around the phone, so I'm sure that I can convert the .bat files to .sh and do all of the necessary adb tasks. It is the flashing steps that I'm not sure about.
I'm anxious to get rooted, so I'd appreciate any help.

Hi, at least I dont know any such flashing tool released by LG on linux platform. So without Update tool (flashing application) working on other things is useless. This tool is service center tool and not released for general public. They might be working only on windows.
But there could be some other command line methods to flash kdz on linux. Please search elsewhere on xda.
PS: Please change title to only "Lelus method". There is no cmahendra method. Lelus should be always mentioned first for his great work. I am not necessary. Thanks

It should work in a VM. If not you can make a windows partition and dual boot.

I used the VM machine to flash an old Coby Kyros tablet. It worked for that, so I see no reason that it won't for the LG. It's just that things are so much simpler in Linux, no drivers or folderol like that.

I have a P769 with ICS - T-Mobile hasn't released JB, so it doesn't have an open bootloader. I don't think I can flash unsigned boot images.

Dell venue8 rooted images with unlocked bootloader now available

Check out software.intel.com/mdk for instructions on the mobile developer program. The images to turn a venue8 into developer device are available at opensource.dell.com/releases/venue8/developer-edition. The kernel sources are also available here which can be built and flashed to the device. Enjoy.

Give some more details. My questions would be:
1. Version of Dell Venue (7 or 8)? This is for 8. It states that if trying on 7, it will brick the device. Just want to make sure.
2. Version of OS before you tried doing this? Reason being, there was some verbiage in the instructions with the kernel stating something about whether or not there were changes to the system or kernel after you bought it.
3. Did you run into any issues during the process? Maybe an error that was ignored or a message that didn't exactly match the instructions.

If XFSTK fails do not move to the next step.
Try the following with XFSTK
1) Hard Power off the tablet
2) Unplug the USB cable from the tablet
3) run the setup_part1_xfstk.bat script
then plug in the USB cable to the tablet
I found that not all USB ports on laptops are created equal; try the steps above with different USB ports on your laptop.

i am also interested in rooting this phone, i have the firmware if anyone can make a custom recovery in order to root it.
i have tried every rooting tool without success.
I'm also looking for a root method for the v3.
It's an inexpensive, neat, non bloatware phone which is really underrated and unappreciated by the rooting community. I also have the firmware and I'm willing to donate the cost of the phone to whomever can post a successful root method?
I have heard that framaroot 1.9.1 would root this phone.
I found this solution in China web site.

how did you flash it (using what)?
In the zip are the instructions, and the tools required (qpst or some). My device no longer works, cause i flashed by mistake another firmware from another device, it boots but the touch is totally messed up.
Sent from my Nexus 6 using Tapatalk
I downloaded the above V3 high configuration and all the tools and instructions are there in the zip file. Here is the problem though with rooting the device. The device needs to have the bootloader unlocked prior to rooting and if you check your device you'll find that the bootloader is locked on it. I've tried all the oem unlock options and none of it works because it appears that irulu has the fastboot commands turn off for the most part on our device. What we need to do now is to figure out how to edit the bootloader files, ie aboot.c specifically, to allow for bootloader unlocking, then after we do that and flash that bootloader to the device we'll be able to install a custom recovery and root it probably pretty easily. Anyways, if anyone that knows a little bit more about how to edit those files and stuff would like to get involved in this I can confirm that the above link to the V3 firmware is legit and contains the correct files and firmware.
Actually I take that back. I was able to unlock the bootloader with the command 'fastboot oem forceunlock' followed by fastboot oem unlock-go just to be sure and then I checked with fastboot oem device-info and it then stated that the bootloader was indeed unlocked. So that's good news, now we just need to figure out a way to root and install a custom recovery.
I'm pretty satisfied with the V3 2GB phone the way it is coming out of the box.
The only reason I wish to root the device is to get rid of that stupid and annoying bootup music file .
The file on the irulu site is for the 1GB V3 version phone.
I can see that that the link supplied in the past post is for the V3 2GB US LTE device ?
Is that correct?
Thank You
Going to take 2 days to download the V3 High Configuration firmware.
Anyone have a better link so far irulu has not assisted.
Thanks.
