Well, my girlfriend updated her Galaxy S3 a couple of days ago, and suddenly the gallery wouldn't work. It just showed up as com.sec.android.gallery3d in the app drawer. I've done everything in my power, even rooted the damn thing, but nothing seems to work.
Amidst my ferocious attack on the problem I seem to have gotten rid of the "faulty" gallery apk and can't find a good one via google that works.
Odd thing is that at first the com.sec.android.gallery3d app was missing from /system/app. When I did a search for "gallery" I found SecGallery2013.apk that was called "com.sec.android.gallery3d" in it's properties. Kind of like a symlink I think.
That original SecGallery2013.apk is now gone with the wind for some reason (my ADHD took over a while). I actually found a com.google.android.gallery3d that works (but not original) and com.sec.android.gallery3d-2be92cef98aab5194d4ae68382324577.apk (took away the number at the end of course) that seems to be the original, but crashes constantly.
I'm at a loss, hence why I did the topic name "need stock apk", as that might fix things.
Though somewhere on the filesystem (I'm still somewhat of a noob as to how android is built) there were once a folder called com.sec.android.gallery3d which is not there anymore. Any attempts at installing the apk has, obviously, also failed.
I've read almost every other possible solution, but all of them seem to be under the impression that I would have the sense to backup every single thing...
Help!
What android, firnware are you running right now?
You can get the gallery app from any STOCK BASED flashable zip (many lite version roms available in this forum). Just open the zip, look under system/app or something similar, take the apk file, put it in system/app of your own phone with rw-r-r permissions, then reboot.
Stock system apps can't be just installed, they must be manually placed in system/app directory.
Try to flash Google Apps from CWM or TWRP (I assume you already flashed CWM or TWRP with Odin)
A brief explanation of Google Apps:
Apps like Play Store, Gallery, Camera, etc... Or the stock proprietary software made by Google are all in this one zip file called GApps, All you need to know is how to flash ZIPs (easy as 1,2,3) and the GApps for your android version.
Other options:
Find another 3rd party Gallery alternative from Google Play (EASIEST)
Flash CyanogenMod or an alternate ROM (Too risky just for getting gallery back)
Just get the images from the device to your computer
Well that's all I got, PM me if you need anything, hit "Thanks" if I helped you

Working with xposed XT1097 MM.
Cyanogend 13
Works in cyanogend mod 13?
Very nice. Working on the VZW Stock MM Rom
Small thing I noticed in the directions:
Edit the permissions to be 0644 (rw-r---r---)
Click to collapse
octet 0644 corresponds to
Code:
(rw-[B]r--r--[/B])
which is only 2 dashes following each of the 'r's, atleast as displayed in RootExplorer app.
Not sure if there's an error in the instructions or a difference in the way RootExplorer shows the number of dashes. But either way, permission 0644, is the correct setting.
Do you have a bitcoin address that you accept donations at?
Thanks for bringing the Moto app updates!
Cheers.
Edit - Also, how will the Play Store react if Moto should ever update these apps? Will it recognize a new Moto version is released etc or will I need to keep an eye out on the forums/reddit etc?

That's probably my bad in the instructions, I'll update it, thanks
I don't have an easy way to translate bitcoin to cash... otherwise I would have something set up, I have a bitcoin wallet, but I don't really have much in it
It should recognize that a new version is released, then it will upgrade and put the new version in the data folder, then I would have to update that one and you can either put it in the data or system folder after it's all said and done...
MotoActions was updated to 02.037.02.
I modified the apk to enable the new Moto G4 actions and replaced the icon of Attentive Display.
Replace the file in /system/priv-app/MotoActions folder (delete the oat folder)
Edit the permissions to 0644 (rw-r--r--)
Reboot and done
PS: I'll try enable gesture Raise to ear soon.

Cool, what I wanted to try was installing it as a regular app, since it has the signatures for a regular app, this would allow it to work for anyone, even if they don't have root access

It would be nice but this is not possible.
Even keeping the signature, the application has been modified and not have the same integrity.
Only with root to be able to change the application.
And I finally enable gesture Raise to ear.
I will attach here the apk modified to replace manually and also a zip file for those who want to install easier way via TWRP.

Would it allow the app to be installed in the data partition instead? Potentially making it so someone can take an OTA update even if they are systemless rooted? I think that would be the best compromise
I added the TWRP package to the OP and gave you credit too!
I'll go ahead and create an uninstaller TWRP package for people needing to go back to stock for any reason...

That functionality was specifically made for the G4, so I wouldn't be surprised if you have to "train" it over time or if it need some more tweaks to get it running fine, just keep trying!

Is this only for stock rom or does it also work with custom roms?
Thnx.

User @kokos00074 from 4pda has posted a FUSEd stock ROM.
It's based on the September 14 ROM. No root, no Xposed framework.
I will try this after testing Booroondook's latest 5.1.1. Kingo root works on the September ROM and I don't really need Xposed.

what mcu do you have..
I would assume that because m00n61's sig says he is using a 'KLYDE MTCC 10inch for Suzuki Vitara' that this rom is for MTCC? So question is will it work on MTCB and if not then that could be the black screen problem.

On my KLYDE MTCC unit the rom works (volkswagen with a EONON GA6153F)
Did you go back into recovery and did a "whipe all , clear cache" ?
First time it booted i got a black screen too , with only the top statusbar wich was non functional.
I read somwhere if going from normal to FUSE you needed to whipe everything, because the partitions are different.
After a longer then normal boot , everything needed to reinstall, i got to the launch screen. I did not try everything but the radio works , and the car info is nicer then my old one. The rest looked ok too.
Have mtcB kgl 2.83. Did wipe before and after but no go. Might try again.

Don't waste time. It will work only on MTCC.
This is for me the fastest 5.1.1 ROM to date. I guess stock ROM could have been also but I like FUSE
MTCC ONLY!
Here is my setup, step by step:
Part1. ROM install
Because this ROM includes a 5.1.1 recovery, the Rockchip Upgrade disk tool is needed.
1.Created the bootable SD
2. Also copied update.img onto a USB stick
3. Inserted both SD card and USB stick to unit
4. Started the unit
5. When prompted, removed the SD card
6. In the recovery menu, selected option 5: Update from USB and delete all
Part2. ROM cleanup
1. Set up WiFi
2. Installed Kingo root and rooted
3. Uninstalled Kingo root and Super Battery
4. Added Google account
5. Entered Play Store and downloaded Total Commander - it's my favorite file manager
6. Waited for updates to finish
7. Entered Settings->Apps, tab All and disabled all apps that I do not use, including Google Maps, Google App, PinYin IME, Gmail, Email and Exchange client
8. Started Total Commander, clicked Configure and checked the last option - root everywhere
9. Edited build.prop for DPI 160. I have a 10 inch screen and this is a good DPI. Plus, it uses less resources than 240.
10. Deleted all useless apps from /system/app and system/priv-app
11. Replaced MTC bluetooth and MTC Music with apps that can actually scale, from previous versions
12. Installed Quick Reboot from Store.
13. Rebooted
14. Installed Waze and Igo
At this point this ROM works as fast as a 4.4 ROM
Actually, it was so fast I put back Google Maps. GM is moving OK, not fast but not as annoyingly slow as before. I guess the combination GM + Xposed + Google App is way too much for these units. Luckily I have a Parrot BT borad which comes with ists own voice dialing so no real need for Google App.

If you pre-install Xposed and @dsa8310's MCU fooling addon (can remember the name of it offhand) it WILL work on MTCB as well.
By the way it WILL work as is on units running the last 2 or 3 versions of MTCB KLD6 MCUs as these can run MTCC ROMs.

Doh, soz, I m guilty of not reading the first post correctly and assuming that it was @m00n61 who built the ROM and therefore could also inject Xposed, when actually he just found it on 4pda.ru
But theres no reason why Xposed and root cant added by someone on their pc before its used on a unit.
I left the rom unrooted , is it normal that when i go to settings , apps , i cannot disable the gallery app ?
What is special about the gallery app ?

Its normal behaviour on Android - the gallery app is a system app and can only be removed if youre rooted.
[ROOT] [MAGISK] Google Dialer (v31.0) & Google Contacts (v2.4.6) - March 27th, 2019
last update Oct 27, 2018
last updated in LG-V30 apps section Mar 27, 2019
OCTOBER 1ST 2018
hey guys, I'm moving this to the V30 apps section, and will continue to keep it updated.
All future releases will work on your V20, and most likely any other android phone as well.
There are magisk modules (safer) and arm versions (for older devices) are there now too!
~syndre
Link to continued thread in LG-V30 apps forum
My shared drive folder url will not change, so you can bookmark it or import it into your own google drive "shared with me"
Change log:
This should work on any phone running android 7.0+ (and maybe marshmallow too). I have a V20 and only test on that, so i'm posting this here. This post is the one Ill keep updated.
OK,
If you havent noticed, the Play Store page for the Nougat version of Google Dialer says "Your device isn't compatible with this version." And even trying to manually install the apk gives a similar error.
In short, if you flash the app into your system partition in TWRP recovery, it works just fine. I have packed a flashable zip that does just that.
This does not remove anything you have, like the LG dialer or contacts app. It only adds Google's Phone app as a separate "Phone"

I was offered 4 different new updates from the Play Store today, and this post deserves an update, so here it is.
arm64 version of the dialer for our V20 and other arm64 phones (majority of you will want this one), the exact version of the apk's in the zip are:
Phone-com.google.android.dialer-2733912-v21.0.200268810.apk
Contacts-com.google.android.contacts-2115124-v2.8.4.199714199.apk
Download Link
arm version for your older phones still being used, I dont know why the contacts version is slightly different, but the apk's included are:
Phone-com.google.android.dialer-2733910-v21.0.200268810.apk
Contacts-com.google.android.contacts-2115123-v2.8.4.199714199.apk
Download Link
These apks are all (nodpi) in case anyone was wondering.
Finally, again, I update my zip files 3-4 times more often than this post gets updated. I upload everything else not seen here to a shared Google Drive folder which is available using this link, so if you're expecting an update that isn't noted here, theres a good chance that it'll be in there.
Have a good summer!

I still havent had a chance to thoroughly test the video calling or screen sharing features with this version of the Dialer and Google Duo, but I know its active. You'll need Duo installed (get from play store) to have access to that stuff. I'm interested in if/how well itcom.google.android.contacts_2.5.4.186070557-2083760_minAPI21(nodpi) works or if theres any hiccups with those new things.

the file is named Google_Phone.v14.0-arm64_Contacts.v2.3.7_(nodpi)-NOV282017-flashable.zip

You should be able to just flash this new zip over any previous versions that were from this thread without any problems. If you do that and something isn't working, try wiping the data from both phone and contacts apps, then do a dalvik/cache wipe if problem persists. If something is still wrong after that, let me know. I dirty flashed without wiping anything and my dialer seems to function as it should.
Questions, comments, problems? Leave a reply and I'll get back to you soon.
November 4th, 2017
Today I was offered an update to the Google Phone app through the Play Store and it caught me off guard, because the version I was running was only 3 days old at the time. I accepted of course and immediately noticed that the APK file was a little bit over twice the file size as what I've been working with previously, interest was piqued. I started it up and it started saying stuff about integrated video calling with Google Duo, I went through the steps and it seems to be working but haven't really called anybody and tried it for real.
So that is why I am asking for you guys is help and feedback with this version in particular, if you want to test it out and see if everything works please get back to me as soon as it's convenient. I don't know at this point if I got this because everybody is getting it and it's a new release from them or if it's because of some other tweak that I have done on my phone and activated something different somehow. I'm pretty exhausted, coming down, and need a 2-day nap.
The file size for the zip is too big to keep posting on XDA, unfortunately, so I will provide a link to a shared folder on my Google Drive where are will start keeping all over releases from now on (theylll still be here to when possible)
The link to that folder I mentioned is here https://goo.gl/fQphzb file named Google_Phone.v13.0[Duo.Integration].arm64_Contacts.v2.2.3_(nodpi)-nov042017-flashable.zip
I feel like some kind of warning should come with this one because like I said I don't know if it is something I did on my phone that made this happen or if it's going out to everybody. So let me know!

Ive been planning on making this into a Magisk module for awhile and got around to it finally. The magisk version is exactly the same as the latest non-magisk zip posted here, except its systemless. If you would like to switch from a previous install to the magisk version, just flash the remove zip (also new) and install the magisk module. You can to that without losing anything as far as app data goes by installing the magisk mod FIRST from magisk manager, then immediately rebooting into recovery and flash the remove zip.

Everything appears to be working without any issues for me after flashing the zip attached below.

I am positive "Nearby Places" is working on my V-20 using this (different from everything Ive used before today) framework file.
Instead of putting new zips of everything from my last July 4th update, I am just attaching that different framework separately.
If you are experiencing broken "Nearby Places", try flashing any of the below attached v9 or below zips 1st,
Then flash UPDATE-google_dialer_framework_only-2017-07-01.zip 2nd and see if this works for you.

I added a few new zip files with different versions of the Dialer app. I hope anyone having problems like what I have read from your posts in this thread can find one that works the way you're expecting. All of the apks are directly from apkmirror, no mods.
There are zips with version 8 and 9 and 10 of the Phone app. They are the same except for the dialer.
UPDATED June10th 2017
Phone .v10.0.155920708
and
Contacts.v2.0.9-200091
both of these apks are from apkmirror
flashable zip is attached to this post
sort of UPDATED June 4th 2017
no zip yet but you can upgrade to Phone v10 using instructions I posted here
I will provide a one step flashable zip attached here as soon as I can get (the patience to get) one working. It will be a week or so before I can play with a clean ROM.
If anyone out there figures it out and can provide a tested, working zip file, Id be happy to post and give you credit.
UPDATED May 13th 2017[/B
Google has updated their contacts app with lots of changes
Phone APK version 9.0.15513
Contacts APK version 2.0.7
zip attached below
03-10-2017
new zip attached below has the dialer app from the Pixel phone.
Dialer APK version 8.0.148481159
Contacts APK version 1.6.20
older dialer only zip:
apk version = GoogleDialer_5.1.131226882-405721_minAPI23(nodpi)
download the zip from MEGA

If you havent noticed, the Play Store page for the Nougat version of Google Dialer says "Your device isn't compatible with this version." And even trying to manually install the apk gives a similar error.
In short, if you flash the app into your system partition in TWRP recovery, it works just fine. I have packed a flashable zip that does just that.
apk version = GoogleDialer_5.1.131226882-405721_minAPI23(nodpi)
download the zip from MEGA
This does not remove anything you have, like the LG dialer or contacts app. It only adds Google's Phone app as a separate "Phone"

Since it doesn't remove the LG phone app will this answer calls? Can it be assigned as the default phone and contact app?

yes, and yes, except it will use the LG app for contacts
Sent from my LG-LS997 using XDA Labs
Not trying to hijack the thread bit I have a zip as well that will accomplish the same thing but also includes google contacts.
Flash the original post if you just want the dialer or you can have this one if you want contacts too.
Side note when installing there will be an update for the dialer in the play store but it will install just fine as normal
Thanks for posting this OP
It keeps foreclosing ?
Yeah unfortunately on my H910 it crashes pretty often. I just decided to remove it because it was much more of a hassle than convenience.
It seems like some that have the T-Mobile H918 don't have much of an issue with it, but I can't confirm that.

I had the foreclose issue until I set it as the default app.

Set as default app, then grant it all the permissions. That will stop the FC.

Yea I have t mobile.
I can confirm both contacts and dialer are working fine my H918. No FC's here

Thanks for sharing! Ive been using just the dialer app going back to my G3, usually on AOSP (so there was never an issue getting google contacts from the play store).
I hope you dont mind and by all means let me know if you do, I modified your zip with the newest versions of both the Dialer and Contacts apps that will work properly on 7.0 Nougat. I have flashed the attached zip in TWRP on my V20 and tested everything without any issues. I can only assume these 2 apps wont be able to be upgraded on our device until we have 7.1.
Anyways, thanks again, the updated zip is attached, inside is:
com.google.android.contacts_1.6.20-106201_minAPI21(nodpi)
com.google.android.dialer_5.1.131226882-405721_minAPI23(nodpi)
nicely done guys going to try with my s7 edge on nougat.
works great.
Gonna give this a shot now as well, thanks OP and others who've contributed..!

So everything works just fine, except for the voice mail part of the dialer.. When I click "settings" i get a force close.. Any fix for that..?? I just had removed the VVM.apk from the WETA rom in an attempt to use a newer VVM.apk, and ended up losing the app all together.. I even extracted the VVM folder from the WETA rom zip file and moved that over, and still doesn't work so I dont know what happened there.. So I just set up Google Voice, but I'd rather stick with a native voice mail if I could..
Thanks..!
edit - ok so while in the pixel phone app, and on the voicemail tab, instead of clicking "settings" and getting a FC, i clicked "ok" and it closed that pop up message, and in an effort to test it out i sent myself a voicemail from another phone and it actually seemed like my phone reinstalled the factory voice mail app that i managed to delete yesterday on accident.. Now the only thing here is that my phone now sends voicemail's to that factory voice mail app and not the pixel xl voicemail tab.. Anyone else have this issue..??
actually missed call notification is not working on s7 edge on nougat...
Also noticed another lil bug..
When I put my phone to my face, it doesn't turn the screen off anymore..

this is all related to the zip deleting important call info,
after testing it for a few hours i removed it due to it being broken fundementally.
Its removing your call apps that handle proximity sensors etc,
this would need to be changed.
if you open the zip, take the apks themselves and merge them to your system folder in their perspective spots,
DONT DELETE ANYTHING. If you already flashed this then re-flash your rom 1st.
After moving the apps to their spots, use Titanium backup or other similar app to freeze the 2 or 3 apps the updater zip deletes.
this way the connections to the sensors wont break, notifications etc should work, if you want to use stock you can just unfreeze the stock apps and remove or freeze the google ones.
i was going to post a updated method but after the hack i caught over testing it ill just refrain from that.

Ohhhh, so it's awesome, but has it's set backs at the same time lol..
Thanks for the detailed info on how to "fix" it, I'll give it a shot.. I did already flash the zip, but I'm testing out some diff roms today so once I find one I wanna play with for a week or so, I'll follow these instructions and hopefully be back in business..!
Thanks again!
Installed it on my Tmobile LG G4. Works likes a charm.
So I flashed it. Dialer opens. But once I grant it phone permissions the app opens and immediately crashed. I don't get a FC message. But the app opens up and then immediately closes itself. Anyone else have this issue? It was working fine on the last Rom I was using. Now I'm using NSS 5.5 which its not working on.
Pixel 1.3: Oreo Speciale!
After months of hardwork, debloating and experimenting, I can finally present to all you lovely people on XDA, Pixel ROM. This is by far the most debloated, lightest and Pixelified ROM for the Note 8 right now. This ROM has (according to me) the best battery life for a ROM til' this day. I've spent hours upon hours on optimizing this ROM and debloated, to the point where removing anything else will break things. Here's a feature list!
Features of Pixel ROM
1. Google Calculator
2. Google Phone
3. Google Calendar
4. GCam 8.3: Everything Working
5. Google Chrome (Samsung Add-ons Removed)
6. Google Clock
7. Google Contacts
8. Google Files GO
9. Gallery (Modded)
10. G-mail
11. Google Keep
12. Google Lens (Works in Google Photos too!)
13. Google Maps
14. Google Messages
15. Eleven Music (Lineage)
16. Soundalive and AudioFX (Lineage)
17. Google Photos: Pixel configurations applied, unlimited storage pop up occurs but do not set to original because Google found out about this.
18. Google Play Games
19. LineageOS Recorder
20. Modified Settings and removed all useless and resource consuming features.
21. Updated AOD
22. System UI Tuner: Change animation speeds and customize as much as you need with this
23. Youtube
24. Google PAY (I forgot to write this XD)
25. Google Pixel Bootanimations
26. Google sounds, tweaks etc. I DON'T REMEMBER THEM ALL XD
27. Stereo Sound Mod and Values adjusted for Balance
28. Latest GBoard
29. Android Oreo Stock Emojis (Google Ones not Samsung Ones)
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
V1.3 Changelog:
1. Fixed Safetynet and updated Phantom Kernel to latest.
2. Minor errors fixed.
Friends this is the last time I'll be working on Oreo. It has been
a pleasure, but we must move on to Pie. Thank you for all the support and a special thank you to @rohitdanda for all the help.
I shall see you on Pixel Pie!
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Notes:
1. RAM management usually idles (on first flash) at around 3.8 GB free.
2. Total ROM size after unzipped is 2.6GB from 4.8GB STOCK!
3. Device Maintenance was removed in exchange for Files Go and System UI tuner. To access battery stats, pull down the Quick Settings Panel and on the top right click the three bubbles button and then Button Order. Then move the new Battery and Storage icon to the Quick Settings.
4. The only theme engine that will work with this ROM is Substratum as Samsung Themes was removed.
5. Thanks to @ProtoDeVNan0 for the custom system UI animations! He is really epic.
6. The latest Phantom Kernel was used and also the latest Stock base so Performance is epic.
7. Please flash the ROM
8. After first boot, make sure you restart your device once.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
INSTALL INSTRUCTIONS:
1. Download the zip and download magisk.
2. Wipe system, data, cache and dalvik cache
3. Flash the zip with Magisk
------------------------------------------------------------------
Bugs: 26/01/2019
Gallery must NEVER be updated (disable autoupdate for Gallery in Play Store). If it did update and the icon become the Samsung Gallery one, goto Settings/apps/Gallery and on the top right corner there will be 3 buttons, which when clicked gives the option to uninstall updates for the app.
Youtube Review:
Special thanks to Geovanny Fernandez on that

Download the rom to your pc or to your phone sd card. Extract the rom zip Pixel ROM V1.1 Copy the extracted zip and paste it into the TWRP folder into your phone via file manager. Take your rom backup before flash a new rom and move the backup to your SD Card. Boot to the recovery and wipe ONLY System, Data, Dalvik Cache and Cache. NOW go to restore backup and restore the zip who have extract into twrp folder. Is defernt way to "flash a rom" this is not the classic way. The first boot need 5 minutes before the phone open. Maybe next versions have aroma installer. Is possible.
Im sorry but your directions are beyond confusing. Are you telling us hat we need to use our current boot img and put it in the rom to boot it?

Ok the basic and easy way to understand this is, thst you are restoring the ROM. Except you are wiping data so you can have a fresh start. So unzip the ROM (basically the folder). Then move the folder to your TWRP folder which in my case is TWRP/backups/988a1b35434255384d30/. The set of numbers at the end will be different for everyone but place the ROM folder in the last directory. The reason I ask you to make a backup of boot is so the final folder directory is created because it isnt there by default. You do not RESTORE the boot img backup you create any point or time. The unfortunate fact is that making a flashable zip is not easy, which is why I released it as a restorable ROM. Sorry for the delays, hope y'all enjoy the ROM!
Everyone, if you need assistance come to my new telgram group. I will help you when I can with any problem and feel free to ask me any questions! :https://t.me/joinchat/G-BflEMjGlgp1NeWxDA2bA
I got it installed, so what I did was I unzipped the ROM into the twrp folder that contained the boot image I just backed up. I then wiped and restored.
GREAT JOB,. This ROM is finer than frog hair!
Pretty fluid and fast.
Nice start with ROM I got problem.

Well obviously duh XD. I will probably make version 2 with One UI and ever since Samsung changed their Ui it looks very close to stock, especially the notification panel, so I will probably do this again. Just remember though that this takes a very long time, mainly due to the amount of crapware and heavy deep debloat I have to do everytime. I've had to individually inspect and remove permissions because some apps framework still started up in the background and THAT ANNOYED ME. So everyone please hit that thanks button it really helps and also once again, Merry Xmas everyone ?
