Hi. I've Just installed a fresh CM9 and synced the phone to my google account. Once it synced it started downloading apps I had previously downloaded which are listed in my Google play account (including a lot of crappy apps listed that I previously messed around with). Is it possible to remove apps from my Google play account? Because I don't want certain apps automatically installed. Cant find an option on the Google play site...
Maybe you can rewrite your post, cause I have no idea what you want.
You installed CM9 and all your apps etc. are gone? And you are missing the market app?
For now I don't think there is any way of doing this.
Looky here...
yeah i was talking gibberish, updated now

Hi all,
I have this weird issue with the new Gmail 5.0 (updated directly from Play Store) and it keeps brining this message up and FC: Unknown issue with Google Play services. All the other Google apps work perfectly fine, it's just the new Gmail and Inbox that don't work.
Deleting the GmsCore.apk and re-installing via Play Store is not an option as it wouldn't let me in the Store then. I am running LegacyXperia CM11 on my Xperia Ray. I should mention that I side-loaded an updated services apk from apkmirror.com, perhaps, someone can upload their Google Play services apk?
Help will be appreciated. :good:
Gee Mail
Just received the update and get the same issue. Now can't use GMail at all.
I have the same issue too.
But I was using the ART, and I can open the gmail app after switched back to dalvik VM.
I will stop using ART in (4.4)m which has many compatibility issue (even with google!) , fallback to dalvik VM and wait until Lollipop.

I'm on stock rom 4.3 so it's not an ART issue.
Do you suffer from space insufficiency?
Are you trying to cure that thing by moving applications that get updated from /data/app to /system/app?
If yes then this might be your problem. Here is what I had.
With latest Google play services update all Google apps (Maps, YouTube, Gmail and Inbox by gmail) were working fine.
Then I needed space so I took the updated Google services apk which took a lot of space in my data partition and moved it to my system partition where its predecessor used to be. I did it completely well using root explorer and checking all tricky parts. I should mention that I study computer engineering and I've been into android more than 5 years so I know my way around.
Immediately after the transfer:
YouTube didn't load anything.
Gmail showed me the same message as you.
Maps force closed.
Inbox by gmail showed me a message of "oops something went wrong please try again later".
It is now my understanding that Google play services has become a very sensitive application that sadly should not be messed with. Especially with a completely redesigned and revamped app such as gmail 5.0 or inbox by gmail. They are just not THAT compatible yet to be able to keep working together after they've been moved around inside partitions.
My suggestion find the latest .zip of "pa gapps" flash it, update the apps that need updating and leave them as they are. They should work like that.
That aint it either

I'm afraid not. This is just an standard install of stock rom no root and certainly not moving files in system areas. All that's happened is I allowed to install the Gmail update then EPIC FAIL.
I have Gmail 5.0 (1569867) and Google Play Services 6.1.88 (1557022-036)
Guys, any update on this? It's getting really annoying to constantly reflash my rom from time to time... Is it possible that Google failed this much?
remove and reinstall the Google play services solved problem.
I've the same issue here but in a very custom rom, thought was my fault
Gee Music
Now after receiving an update of Google Music I now get a permanent notification saying "Unknown issue with Google Play services. Requested by Google Play Music'
So folks what do we do? Uninstall updates? Disable? Will rolling back break the rest of Android?
We have lift off!
Well what do you know? Suddenly my Gmail & Google Play Music now works. Hang on I didn't get any update notifications on these two apps.
Wait a minute, my Google Play Services has been stealthily updated to 6.5.87 (1599771-036)
Thanks Google. Sneaky.
Had the same issue
I had the same issue this two days Gmail wasn't working at all and Hangout was working but for every action i was taking it was giving me the error Unknown issue with Google Play Services and i found out the in my case the problem was Link2SD so what i did was unlinking Google Play Store and Google Play Services than i uninstalled Google Play Services and installed it againn but didn't linked them and error was gone.
The conclusion on my case was linking the app to sd card was causing the error.
Thanks

In may case turns out that I had a version of "google play services" for Android 5.0+ instead of for Android 2.3+.
I did install "google play services" with "System app unistaller" and install the recommended version at gappsandroid.blogspot.com/2015/01/download-google-play-services-apks.html.
Note: In order to uninstall "google play services" "Adndroid devide manager" must be off in System -> Security -> Device administrators. Re-enabled it after install the correct "google play services" version.
Hope that helps

This is also just happened to me this morning. Suddenly my calendar and GMail stop working and prompting the error "Unknown error in Google Play Services".
I tried to remove and re-add the Google account but no success. Clearing cache and application data also no luck for me.
I tried to Google this case and one of the guy suggesting to do these following steps and it works for me:
1. Untick the Android Device Manager from Setting - Security - Device Administrator
2. Go to Setting - Apps then look for Google Play Services. Click on Uninstall updates.
3. Reboot the phone
4. Open HangOut and it will prompt to update Google Play Services.
5. Update the google play services.
6. Done.
Now everything is working again for me.
Maybe you guys can try it. Hopefully it will helps.

hi all,
I have a very strange problem with my S4 mini, and I'm out of ideas after hours of google, xda and troubleshooting. First of all, I'm travelling, therefore a factory reset is not an option at the moment.
I'm on the latest nightly of CM12.1 with gapps installed.
Everything was working fine until yesterday. Here's what happened:
I always used the CM12.1 stock email app. So my girlfriend wanted to check her gmail, therefore (to keep my mail app clean) I installed the official gmail app. After installation I signed in with her gmail address and password. After that the gmail app crashed. I then noticed that my contact list on the phone all of a sudden included her google contacts as well (she had an android device with a google account some time ago, so her former contacts are still synced with her account).
I removed the gmail app again, and now it seems my google account on the phone is broken. I can't use any google services anymore:
- PlayStore just opens a white screen for half a second, then closes without error
- Maps, Fit, Youtube, etc. all say I have to install google playstore to function, but playstore is installed already ("this app won't run without google play services, which are missing from your phone")
- When I go to Settings>Accounts there is no google account and no option to add a google account
What I tried:
- I cleared app data/cache for googleservicesframework and playstore
- I did dalvic/cache wipe
- I re-installed the gmail app which caused all the trouble, but can't sign in with google account anymore in the app (neither with mine nor hers)
- I updated to a newer nightly
- I flashed gapps again
- I used a gapps removal script from xda
I'm completely lost. nothing seems to work.
Thank you in advance for your help

- Google Apps are the proprietary Google-branded applications that come pre-installed with most Android devices, such as the Play Store, Gmail, Maps, etc.
- Due to licensing restrictions, these apps cannot come pre-installed with Custom Rom's and must be installed separately.
- The Google Apps are not required to boot or run Custom Rom's, however many users find them beneficial to take full advantage of the Android ecosystem.
- Custom Rom without Google Apps run much faster and smoother but because many users can't manage to install applications and sync their google contacts >>> So they compelled(forced) to install GApps to their Custom ROM's and accept the suffering that will be caused by it.
- Recently totally no need to install GApps to install applications and sync google contacts.
1- Installing Applications :
- U can use one of many play store alternatives like Amazon Appstore, F-Droid, Mobogenie, GetJar, etc.
By far the better, easier, faster, lightweight APK Downloader and XAPK Installer is APKPure.
- U can directly download the applications from your web browser or better Download APKPure App :good: and enjoy it's features and receive update notifications.
(XAPK is file format contains package and obb cache).
2- Sync Google Contacts:
- It has always being a headache try finding a way to sync your phone contacts without google sync included in GApps . no actually free alternatives much, may be one good alternative is DAVdroid which u can sync contacts and calendar to cloud servers and restore them back anytime.
- Lately it has been a good solution to connect to all your emails and cloud contacts in one place, it's the magic solution that many of us was waiting for ..... Microsoft Outlook .
3- Maps & Navigation:
- Many better offline maps applications are free to use and very efficient like HERE Maps - Offline Navigation, Offline maps & Navigation, GPS Navigation & Maps Sygic, MAPS.ME - GPS Navigation & Map, and the magnificent Waze - GPS, Maps & Traffic.
Best wishes for lighter and better Custom ROM experiences.

Hi guys,
i try to keep my phone free from google apps but due to requirements of some apps this is not 100% possible. some apps require at least google maps framework. one does not need to install gapps for that. instead you can just copy 2 files to your system (https://sdgsystems.com/blog/installing-google-maps-framework-aosp-android).
i was wondering, if there is a similar possibility to install google location services. again, this is a requirement of some apps like geohash droid. if there is none, i am willing to install google play services, but can anyone explain to me what this software/app does? does it connect to google / phone home / whatever? do i have to register an gmail account in order to activate it?
Thnx
aeryn
