Dear friends I recently installed I9300XXUGMJ9_I9300VFGGMJ5_VDI_2.tar (Android 4.3) on my Galaxy S III International version. But as we know the firmware is full of messy bugs I just installed the old 4.1.2 firmware from Samsmobile and kies too.. But the problem is that I can't access my network. There seems to be only emergency calls... Can you guys get me this problem fixed? Is there any way to downgrade my phone to old 4.1.2 Jelly Bean. I desperately require some help.

flash this modem xxemj4.....google it.....or u can try imperium 4.1.2 rom
try Gorgoid 2.7a. MJ2 firmware with MJ1 modem. i flashed over CM11 and all good.

Thanks dear, I have installed NeatRom Full.
The lag in the lockscreen has gone away so far... Though there the UI is still the same...
It feels as if no change has been made at all....
Looking For 4.1.2
In fact I was looking for a solution to switch back to Custom 4.1.2 as it was the perfect ROM so far for me.
I have downloaded it from Sammobile but after Installing it via Odin I am unable to see any network and the Phone's IMIE is changed. I would greatly appreciate anyone to come up with solution for that....

I had the same problem, and all I did was to get to cm 10.2 before moving back to 4.1.2 stock

I also tried to install the CM via its official Windows Application. When it completed there was no network again... Can you provide me the link of the ROM that you installed? Is it Zipaligned?

Correct me if i'm wrong but maybe u have a problem with efs partition from downgrading unto lower version of android..

With suggestion of a good mate, I am finally able to go back to 4.1.2.....
All I had to do was just Install the Patched Modem MG4

Check your IMEI number, wheather it was changed to 0049XXXX - I have had the same problem. I downloaded from Sammobile firmware v4.3 and flash your phone with odin. My IMEI and network connection was restored. Looks like Samsung does not like us to downgrade the firmwares.

I am very thankful to the xda forum and all the members who helped me to get through a serious problem..
Recently I installed 4.3 Leaked version on my GT-I9300 and the ROM proved to be worst ROM of life. So I decided to go back to 4.1.2.
I installed the custom ROM via Odin but I confronted a serious issue, when I was finished the installation I found that there was no network at all... Samsung's official told me that it is impossible to reverse the Android version...
I had no clue what to do. I flashed many ROMs but no solution at all. My IMIE was also kinda jumbled..
Many guys said it is EFS issue... But it is not EFS issue...
It is all because of different Modem issue.. all you need to do is just install a clean custom ROM from http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/2/ and Install the patched modem... you are done..
So here is the solution:
1. Download your desired CUSTOM ROM for your Country from Sammobile...
Link http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/2/
2. Install the ROM via Odin
3. Root it and Install your favorite recovery.
4. Install the Patched MG4 Modem Zip in Recovery Mode. Link https://www.dropbox.com/s/geispctijp...9300XXEMG4.zip
You are done....
This problem is all about MODEM version, so I don't think if EFS tricks are involved here.....
Finally credits go to all the XDA Members who put their heart and soul to present all the required guidance for me to be able to downgrade to lower Android Version.. I have only compiled the whole stuff into a single thread....

Dear sir,
Actually the problem is not finding the solutions but finding the right solution.
Worth members of XDA Forum post a lot of solutions for a particular problem and thus newbies like me get even more confused... So it definitely takes some time for us to come to a point when we are able to get the desired results.
Sometimes, we are not able to clarify our queries.....
As in my problem only a Modem was required while I was looking for EFS solutions!
After Flashing the MG4 modem my battery life has become worst. I don't know if it is because of the Modem.. but whenever my phone is on airplane mode then the battery remains at the same percentage but while on network my battery keeps on draining without even texting or calling

First time flashing a Samsung device, are there any risks involved in the above process i.e. wrong country and secondly, @featherknox why is a custom recovery required, is there no way to flash a stock rom straight over another stock rom with out it?

I can confirm that this method works. XEMB5 (4.1.2 stock rom) on top of the crappy 4.3 update, rooted it and then installed CWM. flashed the patch modem from the link he gave and the XEMB5 rom is working with network running again. but it seems like the battery is awful, 95% in just 10 minutes? lost 5 percent for that short amount of time -_-

Yes after flashing this modem the battery drains so quickly..
I am looking for any solution. Hopefully any developer would come with a good solution.
In battery system I see The Android System draining almost 25 to 30 percent of battery
I had the same issue, but with the help of xda , now everythings normal. but i have a question, with no oficial advances from samsung can i go back to flashing with no danger ?

My problem is little different. I can flash any ROM via Odin[DO NOT FORGET TO CHARGE YOUR MOBILE ABOVE 80% battery level!]:
1. Goto recovery by pressing "vo upl+home+power" release when you Samsung's bootloader.
2. Do factory reset/wipe everything.
3. Remove battery for 10secs. Then put it back.
4. Now press "vol down+home+power" to bring it into download mode. Then follow odin flashing procedure. It will work for any Samsung rom. No need to intall any custum roms.
Now going to my problems:
A. My s3 shuts down when it's idle.
B. Bluetooth button does not work. It tries to go to ON position but goes back OFF after 2/3 sec.
After downgrading from earlier 4.3 [SWC] I have even upgraded it with latest 4.1.2 xxemh4 but no luck!
Every thing works network, wi-fi etc. except above two problems!
Help me please!!
I FOUND SOMETHING, WHEN I DO *#1234* IT SAYS CSC: UNKNOWN though my network is ok and wi-fi works fine. Lemme try patching CSC as featherknox suggested!
@featherknox, But your patched modem can not be flashed in recovery[stock] mode as it says "Signature verification failed". HELP ME WHAT I SHOULD DO?

first of all 4.2.1 or 4.1.2 ?
secondly have you wiped data/cache/dalvik cache and format system ?
Third did you try flashing any other supported kernels for your current android version ?

Dear All, pls give me a solution for my problem.
i have intl version of GS3 (I9300), recently i have updated my GS3 to 4.3 via ODIN then i have rooted my mobile to install slimbean rom. all was well until yesterday. but i decided to go back to 4.1.2 and flashed official ROM with baseband (MG4). from then onwards my mobile is showing sim not found, unknown baseband and null imei.
can anyone help me in solving this problem. thousand thanks in advance.

Hey guys ! It's the first time I post on XDA , this is a bit long but I think this problem could be interesting :
A couple of weeks ago I purchased a Galaxy S3 i9300, with a Mexican company . Stock Android 4.3, is all the information I can remember.
I gave myself the task of flashing it . CWM 6.0.4.7 ( Touch) , SuperSU v1.91 , I did my backup system . Everything was perfect. I changed Rom ( SlimKat to be exact) and BAMMM ! .
I rebooted and my imei was gone , had the generic imei ( 00049 ) obviously had no signal . I tried in every way I could to get it back (EFS pro , Root Browser , KTool ) but although there is much talk about it, I could not restore . I read in many forums , including here , and nothing worked . When I could restore it, that I restored the imei no imei matched the coming back of the battery, but already had service. Well, one step at a time.
How did this happen ? I have no idea. As far as I know, this is illegal. I did a back up again , and try to regain that blissful imei , probe almost all methods until I came across a user who claimed that flashing the Stock Rom with Odin could restore my imei .

It's an Android 4.1.2 Stock rom.
I followed every step except the bootloader . The user recommended not flash it .
But ! I had no idea what was going to do the PIT ( so desperate was that faith was a question of what motivated me to do it ... ) . Everything had disappeared in SDCard . Even my backups ... sad, but true. I un updating to version 4.3 of Android , with the Stock rom from Telcel. Everything works, but the imei still does not match .
I made a backup (again, and this time keep it in my pc) . SlimKat here we go again . but! ! No longer connects to wifi (before this mess could do ) . Save the network but does not connect, says the signal is poor are near the route .
I searched and searched on the net. Some said it was the DHCP configuration, not work, that I was to connect with static IP . Other hallucinated weird stuff ... tried changing the kernel, the Telcel csc , modem and nothing worked ... Returning back ( android 4.3) everything works perfect, but with any other rom happens.
I would appreciate any help you could give me . Is that much of this is due to my ignorance ... anyway , thanks. !

IMEI problem usually due to flashing a kernel or modem incompatible with your efs version.

I read about what you mention. I have this in the baseband: I9300XXEMG4. I have understood the corresponding EFS v2. you're absolutely right, I made a bad downgrade. But then what is baseband I can fill with jellybean kitkat 4.3 or 4.4.2?
Try flashing CM 4.1 i had the same **** and it fixed it... you can read about my ordeal here :

If you did http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s3/orig-development/kernel-devil2-2-3-2-omni-cm-samsung-t2528624 the first flashers LOSE Their baseband too.
Try to read the thread on how they fixed the problem. Are you running on CM? Dual Boot?

Bump for me
Flash the full stock rom for your country with Odin then factory reset in recovery. If efs is not read by the stock rom then restore your efs backup.
No backup then you'll have to pay for a repair.

Can you suggest my what kind of repair need the phone in this situation?
Like if i find a shop now what i must say to the employer?

The s3 was alread rooted
all the process of flashing went fine,but when i rebooted BANG no network signal.
in the ROM thread ppls reported to flash this particular modem to bring back signal
but it did not work
please help me, this phone is property of my boss
unfortunately I only run a Nandroid backup before flash
which data can serve to help me?
Before the flash the phone was equipped with Android 4.2
pls help me
ps if i run the *#1234# my csc is i93000xafme7

If your IMEI is 0049 or null, try to use a patched MG4 modem first. Revolutionary roms don't have modem in them so that can cause some issues occasionally.
Let me know if it works.

Hello There,
I think the problem is the rom itself, i advise you to degrade your phone to its stock rom/orig rom and find a better rom.

Well my IMEI seems to be normal,it is not recommended to post it here?
Ps there is a way to find what was the original ROM of the phone?
Ps the imei shown on the phone is the same of the one shown on the back of the phone
Is this a good thing? Means no corrupted imei?

- I would recommend never to post imei anywhere
- If the imei matches then all's ok.
- Stock rom depends on the country. You can search on sammobile and flash with Odin. 4.3 not recommended if you like flashing roms.

What i can do to restore network?
I advise to flash patched modems
You should try 2
Before mg version and after mg version
To check work both efs versions
If you don't know about efs stuff I advice to read imei thread in the sticky. Good luck with flashing modems :good:

Hi,
After flashing stock s3 rom my sim card is not being detected. i know the sim card works because i tried it on another phone and i have a feeling my efs file has been made corrupt as my imei has been completely changes to 0049xxxx. Also i cannot connect to any wifi network but theyre being found . ive looked everywhere and found no answer. Please help me on how i can fix it.
I'm guessing that you made no efs backup? Do your phone's cellular functions or wi-fi work while running a custom rom? What kind of GS3 do you own (i9300 or i9305?).

Regarding your questions, no i didnt make no efs backup, wifi and cellular functions do not work on custom roms either and i own a I9300

I started with liquidsmooth on 4.4.4 , which worked flawless, and changed to stock 4.1.3

You cannot go backwards to 4.1 with out a efs v1 back up. Somewhere in 4.3 samsung updated it to v2.
Without a back up you can only use the latest 4.3 and upwards.

Actually im not sure what I flashed to but im pretty sure it is 4.3 as I just done a basic flash using odin, no backup was needed. Could i get somebody elses efs file backup and restore it?

Going to settings, about phone will tell you the version
No you cannot do that. Read up on that link I sent you.
