Anybody who can tell me if it is possible to add AVCRP 1.3/1.4 to the Xperia S?
Currently it only supports 1.1

If I'm not mistaken, the support should come from the native Android itself.
Ok, so is it possible to change something or install something to get that working?

I highly doubt so.
If you are looking for features like seeing who is calling (Name), music title, etc in your Bluetooth device, then you can look into the new Bluetooth device (Smart Wireless Headset pro) that Sony has announced (yet to be available here)
what are you guys talking about ???

Funny you come up with that one, cause im actually getting that one. Ordered it already.
So im curious if it will work out of the box on that one. My car is not the problem, as my old Iphone 3GS streams meta data perfectly to my car. (Citroen C3 2011). The Xperia S does not...
Anybody who has any clue as how to get this working ?
This is a feature which needs to be built into Android, so the only hope is if it is included in an update. And the most likely update is the ICS update from Sony.
Even ICS doesn't support this as standard.

Cyanogenmod seems to support it...
That would make it not to hard to implement it in a rooted S.
looking at some new earphones and quite like the livesound ones, I know some people received them with their phones. Can anyone who got them tell me what the quality is like please.

The sound quality is great, as is the option to perform tasks using the live key.
Make sure you get the new ones, not the old SE ones.

Exactly, I've tried my Xperia S Livesound headset on my Arc S and it doesn't work. Please take note everyone.
old ones only works with xperia 2011 models, new ones for xperia 2012 models, they both seem to have the same model numbers and looks identical according to sony's official web site.

Ooooh lucky you.... I only got the first kind. Had to buy mine separately.
I looking for this headset and i believe the sound quality is good and by read all the comments from all over the media i believing it.
Now comparing both of the head set. First named Livesound and only work for 2011 xperia ( based fr the web ) and the Smart Headset can be use for any phone with 3.5mm jack.
I think sony developing and change their input and socket series.
My choice will be the smart headset, becouse it can be used for any phone

the smart headset does not work with all 3.5mm socket, all xperia 2011 also has 3.5mm, but does not work with smart headset, check sonys site for compatible handsets.
after emailing Sony and being told they couldn't tell me a release date for the smart headset I decided to buy the Jays one+ which work perfectly and have the app from play store due to only having one button

it's your post that is misleading.
you say the live sound is only for 2011 xperia--true, but other non SE brand phnes may work.
you say the smart headset works with any phone with 3.5mm socket--not true, it will work with many and the ones stated in their site, the xperia 2011 phones also has the 3.5 mm socket, these will not work.
Hi @all,
until the Xperia P got certified at ptcrb and now some got it unpacked I wanted to know if somebody could provide the firmware as a ftf file?!
I don't think anyone dumped it yet. Sony doesn't give review units to anyone who asks, you know.

What does this have to do with Xperia S?
There is no Xperia P Forum so I have to post it on Xperia S.
Like some older Post to the Xperia S were postet in the Xperia Arc forum.
That´s the reason.
This came little late, I had a prototype in hand.
Ahhh right that's cool. What's the xperia p like man? Better than the S?

For some reason it was lighter than I expected.
I felt screen was nicer than S (it was brighter with more vibrant colors), but I didn't have both at the same time to compare.
Battery life was OK.
This was prototype and crashing as the software wasn't the retail version but just test one.
Front Camera is VGA but 1.3 on S isn't impressive either.
Things I like:
It fits better in hand rather being bulkier like S.
Screen was nice
Uni-body is really nice
No stupid Flap is totally a plus+++
I loved the power button on the right, need to get used to it but once you do..it makes the whole sense in the world.
Bottom part under transparent strip could have been smaller, at least like S. and that part in this model was plastic for some reason. I thought the whole body is aluminum?
I think 4" size screen is perfect.
Quadrant score I got was about 2200
Those three buttons are on the transparent strip which may be cool. At least they are more visible where they are.
And this model didn't have yellow tint issue and also it was Sony Ericsson. I think more of an earlier built.
Again, uni-body with no flap was awesome and very nice. Phone looks sexy and even sexier than all the videos I had seen before have the actual Xperia P.

That is what has stopped me to pre-order them. I believe processor chipset is different and not sure if the Dev, would start working on it.
As far as the forum for Xperia P, there should be one very soon..maybe they are not aware of release in China.
Whats weird is that if phone has gone for sale in China why I don't see in on eBay...usually everything from China goes on there fast.

First off, I am total n00b when it comes to these stuff. in EMMA there is a section where says Download services and has a long list of devices. I don't see any Lt26a...I don't need to have any devices connected for looking at the list.
These might be totally wrong, but there are some interesting number for later headsets. Only God know what is true with Sony.

It depends on which access level you have.
Some can only download FW with connected devices and higher levels can download without a device connected to EMMA.

Probably won't work... the camera in the Rezound is not supported in most newer kernels, the drivers we have are old, this is been one of the main stumbling blocks in development on this device since he have to do complicated work arounds to even get the camera to work in newer ROMs, the chances that the Z2's camera apk or utilities will even work are slim to none. Sorry. You might be able to find a third party utility in the Play Store that can do this at the software level though, but this isn't my area of expertise...
I want to use the background defocus, maybe I will buy a new device. is there anything you recommend? but not z2 of course, z2 very expensive

So, if I get the Xperia model, NOT the Goole Stock Android version, can I still flash the Stock firmware? Or does it have some limitations in terms of hardware?
PS: In my current situation, I am considering to get one. I was thinking about the LG G Flex, but the 720 screen is a no-no. I would much rather have a Xperia than LG. I had the Nexus 4 once upon a time, and never developed a taste for LG's (rather cheap) hardware.
Thanks.

If you got a non GPE Z Ultra you could flash ported GPE version but not the stock firmware. There's already ported version for version 4.4.4 kitkat and version 5 lollipop for the non gpe z ultra. Vice versa, the gpe version can't flash the non-gpe firmwares as it will permanently destroy your device due to different partitioning in both gpe and non gpe version of z ultra.
I did not like LG at first but i fell in love with the LG G3 korean version but with the price i would rather get z3

Thanks for your reply. As I started off by saying, "in my current situation", I need a big device, with Movies+games+ Reading+ browsing capabilities that need to be top notch. Along with the hardware (inside as well as on the outside). And Z Ultra fits into all those categories well.
But, my concern was the OS. And since we had the same device out with a "gpe" which I assume is Google Play Edition, I thought flashing a GPE on an Xperia model would have been achieved.
But now that you are saying it will damage my device, I wonder what should I do?

You can't cross flash the firmwares between the Sony ZU and the GPe devices due to differing sizes of partitions. However there are fully functioning ports of the GPe ROMs, it does not convert the phone nor will it receive OTA updates.

As i've mentioned the ported version is exactly the same rom/firmware as GPE by google modified to fit the non gpe without breaking it. What i mean is you can't flash the official firmware provided directly from google without modification to the firmware hence the ported version.

The main thing I stress is the need to back up TA partition (which holds the DRM keys) after rooting, but BEFORE you unlock your bootloader.
Edit.... Should mention the 4.4.4 GPe port can be used with locked bootloader, not so for 5.0 port.

Camera.is poor and lacks flash. I have never carried it in a pants pocket out of fear of cracking screen or back glass. I
broke the charge port flap but it was my fault for forgetting to close it before slipping it into holster/case for carrying it on my belt. If you get a third party magnetic charging cord be sure to attach it in the right direction.

Nothing you need to be cautious about. If you want the gpe experience, the ported gpe ROMs work great, we have several android lollipop based ROMs as well. It is a very good device, and if you have any trouble for some reason, I'm sure someone will be eager to help you out here. Its a very friendly community. The only down side is the flash for the camera, there is none.

If the thin were your wish. ZU is right choice. ZU is strong device with good waterproof feature. 5.0 gpe port rom work nicely on ZU. I put 4.4.4 on my ZU due to most banking apps Not work on L. For me "her" thiness is bit problem on holding it, made our palm tired to hold. 2nd all z series xperia will be better with dock ( magnetic charger ) otherwise we need to open charging port everytime to charge it will easily tearing the cover and loss the waterproofing. I used D48 dock magnetic charger for my ZU and Z3c.

I find it is hard to find a dock for Z Ultra. Z Ultra unable to fit in the Z1 dock, i've tried but maybe others have better luck. One more thing to be aware is if you ever gonna use magnetic charger please get a genuine sony magnetic charger. Reason being if you use it the opposite way, it will damage your device. With original sony magnetic charger it won't allow you to plug in if its the wrong way.
Hopefully there is no country variant i don't have to worry about. Some of the phones have a country variant (G Flex for example), where one version works better than another. Hopefully there is only one Z Ultra. I am in the UAE.
Had a Z Ultra, now a Z2 and it bugs me to get back to the Ultra.
Sony does have brazil country specific models and non-LTE variants for each of their device (or most of them)
What I know about the ZU variants is this:
LTE Model is C6833
Non-LTE is C6802
Hopefully I did not mess up the numbers here.
