Hi everyone.
Now I know that benchmarks are relatively pointless, as my Mate 2 scores about 5000 more points than my old Note 2, yet they feel very comparable in performance.
I also own an Xperia Z Ultra, which is pretty fast, scoring about 37000 in Antutu, but I can't say I particularly enjoy using it compared to the Mate 2, even though it has has a 6.44" 1080p screen and a Snapdragon 800.
I also briefly owned a brand new Oneplus One till my girlfriend decided she loved it and she wanted it as her new phone, lol and that thing is like lightning, scoring about 47000 points just at stock with no tweaks to it, yet again, I don't actually like the device as much as my Mate 2 for some reason. I think the stupendous battery life of the Mate 2 is more Important to me than raw speed for what I use my phone for.
I was curious about how the Hisilicon Kirin 910 in my MT2-L05 stacks up against the Snapdragon in the MT2-L03.
Anyway, Here are my scores with Antutu Benchmark :

... I was not expecting that!
I'm surprised too, my HAM2 just feels so snappy. I dread using anything else like my tablet, laptop, TV, etc... because everything else around me seems to be laboring through tasks while my HAM2 zips along without complaint.

I'm surprised too. I thought they would be closer. Maybe the 4.4.2 update has given the China versions a better score? Although saying that, I benchmarked twice with Antutu when I first got my phone on 4.2.2 and that gave me around 28,500 both times.
Benchmarks now, for me anyway, don't really mean anything. I use to be one of those "gotta have the fastest" types, but,
the Mate2 changed my perspective. For what I use, mainly phone, web, text, photos, the Mate2 is fast. The price & the battery
won me over, but the performance is fast enough. All these new hot rod devices are just overkill.

Hey guys, im thinking of getting a LG Optimus One(p500), is it worth the money? (170 euros over here), does it slow down, is the camera good, etc? or should i get something else?
It's generally decent for the price, there's plenty of roms in the development section for it, the camera is USELESS in the dark though. everything else works perfectly though.
However, there's a few issue you have to take note of.Even though it's froyo aka Android 2.2, because of the hardware, it does not support Adobe Flash Player. And there is a bug in this phone and that is when you touch the screen when playing games or doing anything else, the frames will drop and the phone will lag. It's a touch screen bug I believe.Just hope that Android 2.3 will take care of this problem.Take note of all those things.
Its a great device for the price I bought it in Germany for 242€ on Amazon.
It does have some software issues.
On the Hardware side the device is pretty good.
The Screen is a LCD screen compared to the OLED of the i5700 it doesnt have any pixel problems.
The camera is more then enough for making pictures except in the dark I think even an LED Light wouldn't make so much differences. And who is making pictures late at night? Outside even and LED light wouldnt make a difference.
On new year I will try to make some pictures with it. ^_^
The device does have enough RAM and besides the software-issues its a great device.
I'm sure LG will fix this for their most successful android smartphone.
And we will get Gingerbread...
My first post in here... well...
im using this phone since 2nd December ... i bought it at 205euros [device only, unbranded etc etc...] with car charger + windshield stand.
I previously had an iPhone 3G and sold it because i got bored with that... so actually that's my 1st android device.
For the ammount of money i've spent ... the accesories i got along + a bluetooth stereo that i use for music, i have to say that it's the best phone i've seen!
I've been searching the market after selling my iphone for a new one with android [2.2froyo from the box!] with a price around 200euros and that's the only one i found!
This phone is a bargain and for me the only disadvantage is the Screen lag when being touched [software problem, may be fixed on gingerbread] and the fact that it doesnt have v7 processor so it doesnt support flash [no big deal but... :/]
Hello everyone I hope you all are having a wonderful day.
The Xperia Z Ultra is very cheap in my area right now, $350, and am now wondering if I should replace my Galaxy S4 with this device.
For those of you who have had this device for a while, do you guys think that it would be a worthwhile upgrade?
I also have a Nexus 7, so I sort of understand how this phone would feel in my hands.
Also is the battery life and camera as bad as people say it is?
Thank you for reading and I can't wait to hear your replies.
I would definitely do it. It's not as big as the Nexus 7, but it's still pretty big for a phone. You do get used to the size pretty quickly though. The camera is not directly good, but it's not incredibly bad either. It performs OK in daylight. You can go through the Photos thread and see for yourself. The one posted here was taken a couple of weeks ago by me.
The battery is actually very good. You can check out the Battery thread yourself, but you can expect to get around 5-8 hours of screen time depending on usage.

The camera is ok in really bright locations, if it's anything other than sunny, it's terrible. I just moved from a nexus 5 to this phone, GPe, not sure I'm going to keep using as my main phone.
battery life is great, considering it has such a huge screen
camera is not as great as others. this is a tablet-like phone, not a phone focusing on camera.
if you want a good camera, look elsewhere.
Just learn how to use the camera and it's not too bad in lower light
Battery life isn't bad.. Actually pretty good especially when brand new. Close to two days when new but after many hours of heavy online gaming the battery life has dropped on mine. Still get about a day though.
I recently ordered a Z Ultra online, and now it's on its way!
Can't wait! Thanks for all the reply's! :highfive:
Hi all friends

I bought 2500mAh battery and it is great.
I dont want bigger device than 4,7".
I have a oneplus x and I ordered a alpha. I'll post feedback in few days if anyone still interested.

Any special settings to get this result? Mine Alpha got 40051... mostly due to UX score (8536) half away of yours...
Exynos variants usually score around 50k on Antutu (see here). Maybe you had power saving options turned on.

I ran another test, got better results (much more closer to average benchmarks on Alpha): 49067 (UX: 14445).
Pretty good score. Ran mine again, also just for fun ran z5c:

Hey everyone, was thinking of buying this phone (snapdragon version) from aliexpress, read the other thread but it didn't answer my questions. I would be upgrading from an i9300 samsung (yeah it's old as heck, but it still works kinda flawlessly (messed up the gsm/3g network antenna)). I understand that performance wise the difference will be night and day, but after looking at a few reviews online i'm starting to wounder about the camera quality. If i compare to the 13mpx camera on the mtk version the photos in average lighting and video in average lighting look worse than those same samples taken on the 8mpx i9300 ones. I take videos a few times a week and i usually take out my phone to shoot photos of some modeling projects (usually parts and combinations of then, less often girls), cars and other stuff i like and want a good amount of detail (at least as much as i can get from my S3).
Also how is the network reception? I'm usually at places where network reception is poor for me (again, f-ed up a bit with my phone).
=And a side idea=
Any chance you can fit the 4.1Ah li-ion from the redmi 3/ 3 pro? I have had a few times on some other phones where li-po batteries are in use get hot to an unpleasant degree while charging and never had those issues with li-ion's.
My answer is yes it is worth it, for the money you will not find much better. However it is still a budget phone and it has compromises, the camera is good but not the best, low light performance is grainy as you might expect.
However in good light it can capture very nice detail.

I havent tested video yet but there are some nice video demos of this phone on youtube. It is capable of recording in 4k but the frame rate is a bit choppy.
Reception is fine for me, I cant comment how it will be for you if you usually experience poor signals, my area is usually very good.
Greetings,
I am looking for a lightweight, Android phone - particularly interested in MI5 and A9. MI5 seems to be a fantastic all-rounder and it is very tempting to buy that. But, I like the HTC one A9 too.
Keeping the performance and price difference aside AND considering the Display,Audio and Camera quality...which is the better device..i am asking this because I got used to HTC and Sense and I kinda trust HTC quality..not sure whether switching to Xiaomi over HTC is a good idea..what do you say?
I have used both phones and both phones are amazing.
HTC One A9 is an amazing phone and doesnt have that many performance issues. Camera is quite good too.
Now for the two huge cons:
1) Display - Maximum brightness is 368 nits and its almost impossible to see anything on the screen when outside. Absolutely hated that. Compare it to Xiaomi Mi 5 which has maximum brightness of 650 nits and amazing bright sunlight readability
2) Battery: This was more pathetic than you can imagine. With 100% in the morning, i ended up at 30% by late afternoon and there is no way that the phone can last one day. Considering I am a light user, this battery life is crap at a different level. Even with Quick Charge 3.0 (you will have to buy a compatible charger separately), you will have the fear of the phone dying on you at all times. Mi5 has amazing battery life even while using both sim cards.
I like HTC Sense too but the drawbacks on HTC One A9 are too huge to compromise onl
that alone should rule the HTC out of the conversation - that battery life is pathetic

the only problem that may happen to you is not liking MIUI... I can''t really trust the non-Miui roms without the kernel released
You should buy the MI5 ,its SoC is much better and the other specs ,too.Battery life is amazing , mine has about 5-6hr SoT.Overall a great phone.
If you were comparing the Mi 5 to the HTC 10, it would be a tougher decision.
In this case, not only do you get massively superior performance out of the Mi 5, but also the battery life is also quite amazing. Note that the A9 is using a Snapdragon 617, scoring ~40k on the AnTuTu benchmark, while a Mi 5's Snapdragon 820 is able to score above 140k. A previous comment also noted GSMArena's battery test results--the Mi 5's rated for more twice the web browsing time.
For more info check these reviews:

GSMArena's reviews are quite detailed and should help you gain a better understanding of the two devices.
