Hi,
There is nothing useless in XDA Forum and regarding issues of random reboots varun is looking into to fix it till then many of using app to fix use that....Don't say that useless coz if it was useless Dev's wouldnt have released any Rom...Remember always respect the Developers works has they put lot of efforts on it .....Its easy to comment like useless and all but you dont know how hard it is to fix issues/develop a Rom in practical....! never comment that its useless if u dont like it dont use it and dont comment simple

What app will I install to prevent the phone from a random reboot? Thanks.

you will have battery drain but not much.atleast you can get rid of the random reboots and enjoy the rom.I am a moderate user so i am getting around 15 - 16 hours of battery..

because it always keeps the cpu active, phone just doesn't goes into deep sleep,so that's how it affects the battery life,
but yes on the other side there wll be no reboots.

I was just wondering, then why not lower down CPU freq every time you sleep your phone? As in, lower it to most lowest freq. Yea it won't go to deep sleep but at least no random reboots and battery drain.
Since I don't have this MI3 as of now, you guys can try by installing SetCPU and do some profile settings.

i dont think it is. been running it as stock with root thru zergrush (with data and wifi set to off with screen off and some bloat frozen or removed) and overnight it dropped by 4%. On .42 with the exact same variables set i would see a drop of around 10% to 15%. signal strength on wifi and vodafone seem to be stronger and more consistent too

Think they changed the kernel a lot too, looking at the sources.

Poor Battery life "ICS"

After updating ICS i root it straight forward, and experience the poor battery life, I waited 3 weeks and calibrated many times, and turn off all the unnecessary services as suggested in the different forums but result is same, before ICS, i was happy with 3 days battery life, but Now, it just keep the juice for 1 day that sux!
Notice, Android system is taking all the juice and its keep "Awake" why not in sleeping mode ? when not in use.

I recomend you to use this kernel http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1521309,because default ICS kernel suck. I'm using I-Scream build 10 (which is a lite version of Nordic .562 FW) with this kernel, and battery drain is about 2% in 4 hours. Also, you should make different profiles (with setcpu),for example when screen is off set profile to 122-460 mhz, conservative mode.

Can we use that kernel on official ICS and locked bl and is there any fc, problem with wifi or bug?
Sent from my Neo V with supercharged ICS ^^
yes,it works with official ics. If you don't have wi-fi issues, flash it dirrectly, but if you have wi-fi issues install first this kernel http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1609617,don't boot after install, and then flash Inteks kernel (without booting between installs). I'm using it on MT15i,and i don't have any lag or wi-fi issue. I don't know if it works with locked bl,because i have unlocked bootloader.
I think after update (wipe) phone is collecting info about battery and some other stuff, that's why your phone is awake all the time or maybe some app drains your battery?
Take a look at my stats.

Stock ICS shouldn't drain so much. Do a clean flash again.

Stock, clean ICS doesn't drain so much.
If it does, ether some modifications are made, or something is messed up while flashing.
Op. You said you've disabled some services and calibrated many times have you thought of just letting it settle.
Flash again, rather than trying to undo everything that you've done. This time give it a couple of days to calm down then investigate if needs be.

[Q] Severe Battery Drain after rooting

Hi all,
I'm totally out of ideas and search terms. Basically after I've rooted my phone and had Psycho Mantis with Siyah kernel on it, the battery was experiencing issues.
To give you an indication, it drains the whole battery in one day with minimal use.
Last week I was out somewhere for a greater portion of the week, and since there are no (decent) receptions, I turned of data. When I got back to civilization, I had my data turned back on.
Since then, the battery was being drained even more! Now my battery will struggle to live half a day.
I've looked at battery stats threads and this and that, installed different battery stats apps, but just don't know what's wrong.
I've became so desperate on this issue that I don't know where to even look further, so if anyone had experienced this problem, or knows whether there are any trustworthy sources that I can investigate this further, please let me know.
Thanks in advance
Brendan

If you have better battery stats app you can post a dump so I can see what's using your battery. Also download cpu spy from the play store to see if your phone is deep sleeping.
If you have any widgets that sync, delete them, if you're using Facebook use friendcaster, turn off gps and location settings, you can try to underclock your device to 800mhz, use the lowest brightness settings, turn off the hardware keys and bln, you could try indervolting but it can be unstable for some devices.
Hope that helps a little

Right I've got both apps you said, but CPUSpy doesn't tell me (or at least I don't know where it says) what's eating my battery. BetterBatteryStats I can't work out the names and codes it uses, so again I couldn't work out what's going on.
I'll try to work out how to get you a screendump.

Thanks in advance for good answers!
BTW: If you are interested why: My battery lasts about 3-4 hours.... -.-

The system's scheduler, pegasusq, automatically powers down cores when they are not needed.
Reducing the core count has an adverse effect since they need higher clock speeds to compensate and thus require more power.
Your issue most likely is data network and/or apps misbehaving.
Please install BetterBatteryStats (free APK here in XDA) and show it's output after such a 4-5hour cycle.
Did you by any chance disable Fast Dormancy or have you checked if your provider supports it?

No, Fast dormancy is enabled. I'm not yet all to used to the S III, but from my knowledge of my old Nexus, I'd say it's an app, like you also said. But I close my apps, I'll post a better stat, tommorrow. Then hopefully we'll get some results. If not better, I'll go completely stock, just with root...

Which ROM are you on?
CM9 (and afaik all other AOSP/AOKP-based ROM's) has a huge battery drain and other network-related issues (such as powering down the modem every other time)
Samsung-based ROM's should be fine

Obviously battery life depends on the user and apps running, just cause it works for you doesn't mean it will for someone else.

You are pathetic. If you bothered to read, the post I quoted implied it was a widespread issue.

almost all apps can handle single core operation @ 1.4 ghz, so disabling cores will save you some battery. afaik you need a supporting kernel to achieve this. Im using siyah along with extweaks app, there you can select the number cores to use.

KitKat wakelocks issue

Hi guys!
I usually use a 4.3 rom because of this issue but every now and then I feel like flashing a 4.4 rom just to see if it it would go away.
So on every 4.4 rom i used i got crazy 3g related wakelocks. Is anybody experiencing a similar problem? Here is a photo of BBS:

Thanks to it I've got ****ty battery life (14h tops). I have also tried disabling fast dormancy with this i9300 market app, but it didn't seem to help.
Is there anything I can do?
1. How old your battery is?
2. How much battery life you used to get on 4.3 with similar usage?
3. Which kk ROM you have tried?
4. What was the SOT when you took this screenshot?
1. I guess it's maybe 1,5 years old. I don't expect miracles, but battery time now is patethic.
2. I could reach like two times more, 25h from 100% to 0% with 2h SOT.
3. CM11, SlimKat, and now I am using PAC.
4. I don't remember exactly, but 1,5h tops
Hmm.. looking at your information i can pinpoint it to the 3g wakelock only.
I am finding this on github-
svnet-dormancy / multipdp
Author(s): sven, credits to Entropy512 @xda-dev
Ranking: n/a
Speaking Name: svnet-dormancy / multipdp (those are synonyms, depending on android version)
Rationale: svnet-dormancy is a kernel wakelock related to cell data transfers - Fast dormancy or not, you get a 6 second wakelock any time the radio transfers data
Know actions: Change the duration of the wakelock (use at your own risk). Reduce the wakelock by reducing the amount / number of data traffic requests
Known conditions of occurence:
Caused by data traffic
I am unaware of a solution for this. Maybe someone else will be able to throw more light on this. hang in there.
I'm having exactly the same problem as you, those 3 wakelocks(multipdp, secril_fd and l2_hsic) are killing me. I tried to change ROMs, kernels, radios, but couldn't get rid of them.I've done a lot of research, but didn't come up with the solution for this. I even tried with neatrom, jb version, which is closest to stock, and I have those wakelocks there too.
Any luck?
Hi sheo,
Did you found the root of this problem?
I have the same situation, all kitkat roms I've tried so far (including CM, OMNI, SlimKat and lots which I don't remember anymore) have this wakelock problem.
Some users at the better battery status have tried to help me, but all they suggest is to turn my smartphone in a dumbphone by disabling/uninstalling everything that makes sense to have in a smartphone!
So, (sarcasm=ON) without removing, facebook, google play services, google plus, disconnecting from wifi, going to 2G and dimming my display darker than a black hole, (sarcasm=OFF) were you able to use KitKat on your I9100?
Thank you! :fingers-crossed:
