When I try to decompile SystemUI.apk only, my decompiling process fails.
I am using the latest version of APK Studio.

I already tried deleting apktool/framework/1.apk
I already tried reinstalling Java/SDK/JDK... I have them installed correctly.
Would really be thankful if someone finds the error to this.

I installed a mod without a framework-res, meaning the framework remained stock 4.4.2.

I had already tried auto ApkTool v2.0.0 and did not work.

i have a problem recompiling framework-res.apk.
I can flawlessly decompile and change any other apk (also system apks).
Decompiling the framework-res.apk goes flawlessly as well...
But when i try to recompile apktool tells me

then it gives and incredible long error message that something is wrong in values/plurals (I have not even touched it!!) and some other **** that may be wrong..
Even if I don´t change anything I get this message..
First of all:
- i have installed the framework (java -jar apktool.jar if framework-res.apk)
- i have updated to the latest aapt.exe
- i am using apktool 1.4.8 but it also happens with all other versions (I tried it)
I don´t know what´s wrong since I can flawlessly change any other apks that way as i told..

Use apkmanager is best...... to install framework, put it in others folder use "apktool if framework-res.apk" cmd..... as ur error says, u r not installed framework correctly i think..... try this....

Well... apkmanager is like an automatic Version of apktool...

Can you post the long error message to track the issue copy it to paste bin or something

That ICS Apktool worked. Allthough i was editing a JB apk...

The funny thing is that SystemUI is not recompilable with that apktool. But it works fine with my old one..
It seems that it only works for framework-res.apk...

It is a pain in the ass, try this one for it which is what I use for my SystemUI and other problem APKs, but keep the two separate, so have the first in it's own folder and this in it's own folder...

I am running Android APK MULTI TOOL for recompiling and decompiling an APK. When I decompile it, it goes smoothly. But when I attempt recompiling, it gives A LOT of errors stating at the end "... is not defined". This is not an after-mod error because I tried recompiling it right after decompiling, without even opening the decompiled folder. It still gives the same error. Kind of frustrating. So, can anyone help?¿

I am not decompiling a system file. Its YA weather apk app. Do I still want the system ui and framework? Btw my phone's not rooted so is it possible to pull these files from phone?

you need to deodex this files and then install it to the tool then it will compile according to this apks

I want to decompile a non-system apk file and then recompile. Decompile goes smooth but while recompiling, it states a BUNCH of errors saying "........ is not defined". This is what I want to fix about

yes can use non rooted phones apps but first deodex it
if you will use my phone's apps then it will run on my phone not in yours

Hello,I have problem with recompiling any system apk for kitkat firmware,tried to decompile and recompile framework-res as the usual way of any 4.3 firmware and lower,it does decompile and recompile successfully but when I replace it back instead of the original one I got it stuck at sprint screen for NOTE3 SPRINT .also when I try with SecSettings ,the settings icon disappear after replacing the original one,I even tried building the apk without any modification and I got the same thing.
there is must be something with signing kitkat apk different than 4.3 and lower firmware.
I used the same method of signing A System apk of taking META-INF and AndroidManifest.xml and inserting them into the new APK.

but it fails,tried this time with SecContacts_OSup.apk but it does disappear after replacing it too.

I'm trying to decompile a system .APK file for editing from a stock Oreo rom (for Galaxy S7 G930F, extracted from ROM using Kitchen).
The problem is when I try to decompile the APK, I do not get the Smali-files, but if I deodex the file I can properly see and edit the smali-files.
However, when I try to recompile it I get alot of errors. Even if I don't edit the files just decompile/recompile. (odex'd and deodex'd ones)
I've tried several softwares including ApkTool, Advanced APK Tool, Android MultiTool etc.
How can I do this right? Have I missed something?
Windows 10 x64
JRE & JDK installed
Framework-res.apk installed in software (odex for odex, and deodex for deodex)

try batch apktool also install other special frameworks if there are any ( like mediatek-res.apk or cyanogenmod-res.apk)

Thanks, I will try it later tonight! Do you know specifically if/what frameworks needed for Galaxy roms? I've only read about "Framework-res.apk" so that's the one I've been trying with.
