CloudyFlex report. First ROM and amazing - G2 General

First of all, thank you for the forum, saved my phone twice on severe fails to boot (no recovery)!
Anyway, this is an add for CloudyFlex, been running it for a week, it is amazing.
Here is a battery test over one day. Starts 100% charged before going to bed, wake up at 100% (did my usual titanium backup/upload at night)! Absolutely flatline when not actively using.
Wifi on 100% and actively connected over most of the day. Network is Edge connected 100% of the time (no 3G in Ukraine).
Got about 6.5 hours screentime.
Drained to 1% by spending last 4 hours on Neuroshima Hex playing against itself (very intensive AI core use), and 3 hours of video.
Screen at 70% brightness.
Seen attached cobbled together screen shots.
Battery tips:
- go into that stupid facebook and make it stop checking for everything. Same for lots of other apps. I keep whatsapp, gmail on active notifications)
- greenify
- autostarts: remove most of the apps that check for everything all the time (eg: facebook, stopped ALL autostarts), but also many other apps that seem to start for stupid reasons and then stay on calling the mothership every time someone farts, I hate them.
Tests on geekbench are in the 940-960 single core and 2750-2800 multi core (up to 2847).
Antutu gives me 33000+ with a max at 35000.
Phenomenal ROM, hyper stable. Great G3 keyboard, great Pro camera.
With G2 tweaks you get the custom buttons navbar.
Thanks Cloudy.

thanks for the review but i went back to stock since dual window mod now works on it ....

[Q] ICS Passion 9.2 battery life

I just registered, so I can't ask this directly to the developer, but hopefully someone can help me out. I flashed the ICS *Passion* 9.2 beta after reading up on it and seeing all the rave reviews about it. It has been a couple days with a few charge cycles completed and my battery life is still in the hole. Does anybody have any idea why my battery life is so bad? I hardly use it, just to text a bit and browse the internet occasionally. I saw quite a few posts in it with people achieving 12-17 hours battery life with moderate use, and yet I can only manage 6 with light use. The battery menu shows the screen using quite a bit of battery, which is strange, because I have the screen off with the exception of a quick text. Help?

I have similar battery use issues. I believe you have to have it fully charged then wipe your battery stats in the Clockwork Rom Manager menu under advanced. Fully charge again and repeat the process several times. You are probably aware but if dataswitch or wi-fi is running while not using, it will drain bigtime.

Wrong about last part.
I run wifi 24/7 and get 20+ hours light use of course.
I'll give you some of my settings I did to make it like this when I get to a computer I don't like typing long things on phone.
Sent from my SGH-T959 using xda premium
There are some apps and explanations for download in my Battery Guide, post 3, that may help with this too.
Listen to Rider though. He's been on ICS since the beginning. Send some if those settings my way and ill put them in the guide if you want/don't mind.
HNY buddy.
Ok, i will list a few things I ALWAYS do on ICS right after flashing.
Settings> Display > Brightness to lowest ( i don't like the high brightness it hurts my eyes if i need it i turn it up) My Screen display time is set to 2 minutes (i don't think it matters unless if you just turn your screen on and leave it there)
Accounts and Sync > Sync everything right after flash and then disable syncing of Google Photos and Calendar (unless if absolutely necessary)
Also if you sync things like Gmail and what not, try to set the sync time 1 hour + mines set at a hour.
I also use Titanium Backup PRO to freeze DRM protect- , Email, and email exchange ( i only use GMAIL so i don't need another app taking any space) if you don't use gmail, freeze it.
I don't like using GPS because I know the places I go to. I know the roads near me etc. GPS shouldn't be THAT big of a problem if you remember to turn it off after using.
Settings> Location> all of mine are unchecked, if you do use GPS frequently then check the ones necessary. I don't like Google knowing where I live, it does no good just wastes a little bit more battery.
I use SETCPU(paid) you can use Voltage Control (free) and change your frequencies to minimum: 100 max: 1000 and then menu > set on boot or something similar. If you don't set it on boot, right after a reboot its going to change.
Thats basically all the things i do at a fresh rom flash. I might update this post if I miss something.

[Q] [BATTERY] change under/overclock for specific apps on forground

in my quest to get a better battery life out of my phone (seen people saying 2 days battery life) i have tried 6-8 roms, 3 kernels and 5 modems. all of which give me less then 10-14hrs usage (i know thats fairly average for some of us)
IS there an app that can change cpu speeds based on what app is on the foreground?
my regular usage is:
1200mhz,
ondemand,
3g enabled all time,
~40mins talk time
~100sms
~45mins gaming/video (for train journey =D)
~5mins gps (to check for my bus home)
Push exchange emails
auto brightness
haptic feedback
Tablet-Mode
I have tested that for 70% of my daily usage this works fine for me:
500mhz,
lulzactive,
3g enabled all time,
manual exchange mail sync
but in testing games such as temple run i would need max 1ghz
(have yet to test with music yet... 720p video runs fine @ 800mhz and 1080p @ 1ghz)
i have seen there is a way to inject 3g to 2g toggle when screen is off, is there any way to do it without injecting into the zip? or inject directly into rom?
i think then i could run push emails without much problem. then my phone will really be ON DEMAND!
during 500mhz i notice a slight reduction in battery consumption (not as much as i thought however)
i am running D4ROM v10 with siyahkernel 3.1.2 with resurrection remix as dual booted rom. will prob be getting the 1900mah anker battery heard its decent and fits in normal cover, so yes please let me know if you do get longer then a day, and also if what i need is available (i have searched)
There is no need for such applications mate because android by itself handles the load balancing. The load increase/decrease is basically dynamic and hence you cant predict that.
Overriding that will only consume more battery.
well from the last 2 years of using android underclocking has always increased my battery quite a bit... even right now its consuming 2-3%/hr compared to 5/6% from 500mhz and 1200mhz in sleep, at the end it adds up!
I imagine Tasker could achieve your odd request, though I haven't checked.

I have got the tasker 7 day trial and i can honestly say it is amazing! takes android to a whole new level!
got 2g and underclock & screent timeout 20secs when screen off, then when i use dolphin it connects to 3g, when i play games it clocks to 1ghz 10mins screen timeout. when i plug in OTG usb stick it opens mx video player !
only problem i have is when the screen times out it underclocks (say if ive opened a game) then when i wake the device and unlock again, - the profile says it should clock to 1ghz... but it is staying at 800mhz (which is the screen off max clock speed...) - temporarily just pressing home going to recent apps and opening the game again
p.s. using around 2-3% on sleep/hr and 4-5%/hr with moderate usage (few texts, browsing, play store)

My Galaxy S3 Battery Life Sucks Please Help! 15% After Only 7 Hours.
I’ve been having this same problem sense I got my phone about 2 months ago but now I’m finally just tired of it! My phone is rooted, using the stock ROM.
What I do to help battery life:
- Every morning I hold the home button and kill multitasking and kill all running aps in the background then I open autokill which automatically kills running apps in the background that are not needed.
- I have power saving enabled
- Easy Battery Saver running
After 7 hours of use I’m already at 15% and through out the day I barley use my phone. Its like this just about everyday. I use my phone about an hour of the entire day of web surfing and Facebook usage etc. The rest of the day I’m only texting and maybe taking 3 or 4 phone calls that last 10 mins. How much battery could that possibly take? A flip phone can do that and last 3 days..
I used my iPhone 4S much more during the day then I do the galaxy S3 because the S3 has terrible battery life.
On my iPhone I would have about 22% after everyday of using it for 11 hours down time = sleep and 4 hours of usage = texting, , phone calls, web surfing, games etc.
I don’t play games or watch movies on my S3. Only texting, instagram, facebook, websurfing which is about an hour a day usage. Also a couple minutes of GPS usage on some days.
What can I do to fix this? I don’t want a bigger battery that will make my phone any thicker.
I have pictures below showing usage through out the day and usage under battery.
Please help!
Thanks!
You screen is using most of your battery. Check the brightness levels. Are they on max or close to it? Switch it to auto

Oh thats easy.
You're phone is always "Awake". It doesn't go into Deep sleep like everyone elses. If you take a look at the first picture you linked with the graph, it shows that the phone is always AWAKE.
For comparison, I have attached mine as a reference but something is DEFINITELY keeping your phone awake.

Can't really see anything that stands out per say...
If you see anything on that thread or any apps on your phone that you think could be keeping it awake, just uninstall them. I would suggest trying to remove them a few at a time just to narrow down which ones are keeping the phone awake.
Also, apparently this app helps a lot (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.bvalosek.cpuspy) and Better Battery stats should give you a better idea of which apps use the CPU while your phone is trying to sleep.
Oh and remove any task managers you have installed.. Those tend to be the worst offenders.
One last thing, found this on another forum:
- Don't use an automatic task killer--not even the one that comes with the phone. Reboot your phone and look at what's running. If anything that you've installed is running and there's no reason for it, then uninstall it and find an alternative that behaves. Ignore any stock apps that run on boot as I've found them to be more or less benign.
- Weather widgets, live wallpapers, news/social feeds, any app or service that you use that runs--do without it if you can. If you can’t do without it, lengthen it’s refresh time.
- Don't use antivirus
- Set your WIFI sleep policy to never. The default is "turn off when screen turns off". This will cause the wifi to reconnect every time you open the phone. From any Home Screen select Menu/Settings/Wireless & Networks/ and then use the Menu button to see some new options - select Advanced. Then select Wifi Sleep Policy and set it to Never. Home key to return to Home Screen.
- If you have access to wifi, leave it toggled on as it is more efficient than 3G. Wifi consumes less battery power than 3G.
- I leave GPS toggled on too by the way. Apps use it as needed. When I'm done with Maps or an app that uses it, I'm sure to return to the home screen so GPS can stop. Under wireless settings turn on "Google location services" so that an app is able to use network resources to get your location instead of GPS. I have "VZW location services" turned off--don't know why that option is even there. By the way, I increase the speed of voice output > text to speech > speech rate because I like the directions to get spit out faster. That saves a bit of battery. Turning off the display and just listening for directions help. Also, often I just get the directions and then exit back to the home screen: GPS uses so much battery I try to get it over with ASAP.
- Under Accounts, click on any account listed and turn off sync for any items that you're not interested in syncing. For example, Google Books if you don't use it. Don't use Backup Assistant--I prefer syncing my contacts with Google. You don't need both. Also go into your contacts > menu > display options > backup assistant > UNCHECK. Also do contacts > menu > more > settings > contact storage > and select your Google account and "remember this choice"
Are you on the 3G network a lot or weak signal areas? Is your phone hot around the bottom? If yes to both, most likely it's because of the system attempting to find a better signal. When I was swapping out my SIMs, in various countries, I only have 3G network and my battery fully drains in 7hrs at idle. The only way i can go a whole day is to place my phone into airplane mode or wifi only to conserve the battery.
my battery runs at-most 13 hrs........................

Welcome to smartphones. The calls alone will drain the battery. Seven hours isn't horrible for all that. It isn't a flip phone.

maybe you have to flash a new rom
If you want, you could try to flash a custom ROM. I had the same problem that you have, and I flashed Revolutionary S5, and now my phone lasts minimum two days with the same usage, maybe a bit more.
Too bad Tony Stark hasn't gotten involved

Titanium Backup will assist a little bit. When you do a backup of an apk it will tell you if the application is running. You can find all kinds of sneaky apps this way. Many of them were ones I didn't use and didn't really want. That will probably yield minimal results, though. Keeping a black background helps on my S3. Colors, widgets, and live backgrounds will drain the battery. Turn off the menu and back key lights. You know the buttons are there. Turn off all haptic feedback and key press sounds. Of course, try to lower the screen brightness. Leaving my data and sync on hasn't caused me any problems, but you will save some battery by turning them off when not in use. I also read a post about hidden menu options that ran even when they weren't meant to. That was an issue that destroyed battery life. Some ROMs also have settings for data connection type. You'll save power by telling your phone to not worry about gaining signals like 4g, 3g, etc. As other people have said, try out some ROMs that make battery life a big priority.
it CAN get better
if you want to have a good battery life, use custom rom and kernel (or a modified stock like omega rom), watch out for wakelocks + apply these settings:

Android and battery

I love Android.
I think the customization is great, and since v4 it's smoother and feels more responsive.
There are LOTS of apps and it's better than iOS.
But i'm sick of the battery issues.
I've always loved trying new features, ROMs, apps, hacks and whatever.
I now have SGS3 and it's my third android device, and i've installed ROMs dozens of times, even on my friends' devices.
One thing that always kept me alert is the battery life - the maximum I can get from my battery is around 30 hours with my usage - 1/5-2 hours of screen, ~45 minutes talk, lots of standby.
But every now and then, my girlfriend, my dad, my aunt or my friend ask me 'why does my battery drain so fast?'
Sometimes its google maps.
Sometimes its mediaserver/media scanner
Sometimes - and only I can see it cause they are not familiar with tools like BBS, it's gsf (Google Services Framework).
The point is, when you have an Android device, you need to check the battery stats every now and then to make sure nothing is unusually heavy on the battery.
I am currently experimenting with ParanoidAndroid and AOKP, which are faster and more responsive than omega/stock.
Yesterday i went to sleep (6 hours) with 25% battery (after it lasted 15 hours) and I turned off the data connection and the wireless connection.
I woke up after 6 hours (lucky..) and I saw my phone if off. after I connected it to the charger and turned it on I saw mediaserver decided to wake up in the middle of the night, after It almost did nothing during the day, and worked for 5.5 hours until the battery died!
Today I unplugged my phone and in 1 hour of standby 10% of the battery were gone, I checked what happened using BBS and saw gsf again (that GTALK_SYNC whatever wakelock) was draining battery, after I thought I fixed it yesterday when I disabled app data and browser sync in the google account sync options). I rebooted and now it seems ok again, the phone is back to ~70-80-% sleep.
I want to emphasize that I don't like all the stupid battery tips that tell me to castrate my phone:
turn off wifi when it's not needed, turn down the brightness, lower the screen timeout, disable sync (wtf? but its a smart phone, I WANT push notifications!) and that sort of things.
I KNOW I can get >24hours of battery without disabling the basic features of my phone.
And the draining battery processes that I mentioned earlier can suddenly appear even in a stock ROM, so I don't think it's PA or AOKP's fault.
What I want is that google will finally build a supervisor entity that will check what causes an unusual battery drain, check if it makes sense, and disable that cause!
It's absurd that google maps application comes with default 'enable location reporting' that constantly drains your battery and for what?? google maps doesn't run in the foreground, why the hell will I want that background location reporting draining my battery? and if so, why do you put this option enabled BY DEFAULT? The average user doesn't know this sort of stuff, and get only 10 hours of battery out of a device that should ideally provide ~30 hours!!!
Just wanted to let it out of my system...
And to get useful battery tips if any...

Any glitches with 5.0.2 post um

you have to click the close button twice to close all. If goggle play services doesn't take right you can get a battery drain. The blue logo with your phone number doesn't work right unless you add multiple accounts to the build prop. My calls have some sort of noise I'm told -once and a while I have advanced calling active and a sound mod installed so that could be the reason for that.
I was told advanced calling can have some noise issues
How's everyone's battery doing? Mine has been significantly worse since LP. I used to get 6-8 hours SOT, and now I'm at 4-5. Haven't done a full wipe, could that be why? No obvious culprits show up on the battery usage list though.
On my own .509 PRF:
WiFi will randomly disconnect, and then it will say that the AP is disabled. This also happens when say leaving my apt to go to work. Disconnecting from my home router when out of range (obviously) then arriving at my office I can see the office's AP listed, but it says disabled as well.
Another bug has been losing bluetooth after ~15 minutes of connectivity. It will then drop the connection, cycle BT on/off a couple of times, and finally reconnect after about 1min.
I've started fresh many times, so I'm going to try another PRF on here, make another new one, and if those both fail I shall return to 4.4.4
I haven't really experienced issues on 5.0.2, but battery life has been about the same for me getting up to 5 hours of SOT, 6 hours even depending on what I did that day. I'll say though, in general our Lollipop variant for Verizon still separates us from the general Xperia community since twice already I flashed scripts that's supposedly for all Xperias and it does not work as planned for the Z3v.
Mine is working great, have had some wakelock issues but I'm using non root greenify, basically force close on some runaway apps. I have noticed battery charging takes a bit longer and on wireless it doesn't kick off and will continue to maintain 100% which I'm indifferent about. Battery life has skyrocketed, getting 6-7 hrs screen on. Was getting roughly 1 hr per 25%, now 1 hr per 15%.
battery has been as good as before
