Custom ROM for Asus Memo Pad 7 2014 (Me176C/cx)? - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Development on this device has been... well, zero, other than a working root method (ZenFone Root). The stock ROM is decent but it has some annoying bugs, such as apps disappearing on reboot. Would love to see CM11 on this, or any custom ROM in general. I know that we most likely need to unlock the bootloader first, then figure out how to flash a custom recovery before we can even do anything else. Does anyone have the knowledge to tackle this? This device doesn't even have its own forum yet.

Android Development for the Samsung Stratosphere II SCH-i415?

Great phone even in stock form. Its only been on the market for about a month so I doubt there are any custom ROMs out there for it yet, but I am sure folks are already working towards that. In any event I would like to root the device. I've tried superoneclick and Im getting stuck on step 7, so its recommended to do a manual root at this point. I am curious if anyone else has been able to root this device and if so, whats the best method? Are there any custom Jelly Bean ROMs out there for it yet?
Also - to the moderators, can we add a section for this phone? I cant see it listed in any of the forums yet. Thanks!
I have been looking around for a method to root the Samsung Stratosphere II with no luck yet. It is the best QWERTY phone out there. I've been surprised at how little buzz it's been generating. I blame Verizon for such a horrible launch and lackluster demand.
I definitely want custom ROM control of the phone as I intend to use it for years.
Yeah its a great phone, very fast and responsive. I'd like to get Jelly bean on it and see how it runs. Mods, can we get a sub forum set up for this phone? It would be great to get development started as soon as possible. Any suggestions on root or pushing superuser to this? Think I can use the stock recovery to push su and busybox?
Mods? Are you out there?

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2122682 says it can root your phone
Barring that, I've read you can't flash to your recovery partition with odin, but you should be able to flash to the system partition. You should be able to dump out a stock odin image and manually root it and then repackage it as a tar. pm me for some pointers on how to do that.
i just checked for a software update on my wife's Stratosphere II SCH-i415 and there is one. I live in NC the update was under settings/about device/ software update. its form Verizon size 506.6 MB. is there a way to pull it before it installs? maybe a root method. I installed it. could not wait. well its jellybean went from 4.0.4 to 4.1.2 baseband 1415vrlj2 to i415vrbma3 kernel was 3.0.8-1157001 to 3.0.31-947060
Just a bump, because the device has a working root method for OTA JB devices, and it could use CWM Recovery support as well as Google Wallet porting and some custom ROMs... the usual flurry of activity around an Android device with root.

4.0.4 Does any one have stock rom for that version for SS2

[Q] Help rooting and installing rom Huawei y300

Hello there, how are you?
My problem is, I received an Y300 as a gift, haven't yet received it but I want to prepare the necessary things to root it and install custom roms on it. No, this isn't the first phone I install a custom rom to, as I have already played with an Optimus L5 of a friend. Could you please answer this questions?
a) How do I root the phone and install CWM or other recovery? I have found many tutorials but they are confusing, and require waiting for 2-3 days for the code to unlock the bootloader. In case you need to know, it probably is the normal Y300, the international one, so no Asian Model
b) How many ROMS are there for this phone? I like Cyanogenmod and stock roms the most, I can barely stand the stock rom in the phone, so I would like to install a new ROM on it ASAP.
c) By flashing the new ROM, do I lose IMEI or something like that (EFS Folder in Samsung phones)? If so, how can I back it up?
Thanks for your help

Here is a GUIDE to unlock the bootloader and root your phone
Thanks, LS.xD
This was all I needed, I've found a CM11 Rom in the Modaco forums, hope it works well. Just got to wait until I get the phone
Okay, so I downloaded the latest nighly of the ROM, but it appears that CM11 is not very stable and has many problems with SystemUI (statusbar) and other things. Aren't there any ROMS for the Y300 on XDA? Also, will I lose my network connectivity if I do the wipes (data, cache, dalvik cache)?
Again, thanks for all your help, I appreciate it
EDIT: Found CM10.1 here in XDA but it redirected me to Modaco, however it is quite stable, downloading now. So which wipes do I have to do, in order to get everything smooth? Also, as I said will I lose my network connectivity or IMEI if I do these wipes, or I can do this without worrying

Want to install cyanogenmod on kate, would appreciate some help

So I pretty much never flashed a ROM on this device. This is the third day I own this device, and I don't really like MIUI, I find it pretty hard to use, and it has a critical bug, that I am not sure when it will be fixed. I haven't done anything to the device, it's currently in the state i received it in. However, I would like to unlock the bootloader, and install cyanogenmod. However, I do have some questions, and I hope that Kate owners that have successfully flashed CM on their device will help me out.
These are some questions I have:
1) What is currently the fastest and safest way to unlock the bootloader?
2) Which CM version is the stablest? I prefer CM 14.1 just because I never had it, but if it isn't stable, I can live with CM13 as well.
3) What do I need to backup? I often see people asking for backups, because they lost their IMEI or something like that.
4) Does the Kate Radios zip made for CM13 work with CM14?
Also if someone could link me a step by step tutorial that would help me install CM successfully, I would really appreciate it.
Thanks!

HELP! No progress for G928R4 after root and TWRP

I managed to get TWRP installed as well as root but I can't find any roms, mods, or anything. I'd be happy with a debloated/deodexed stock rom at this point and something I can tinker with. I'd like to find a great kernel too but I've searched every board to no luck. I can't seem to find anything possible through ODIN or TWRP flashing at this point. Am I missing something, is there anything I can do from here. I've noticed a lot for different variants but I assumed it was common sense not to use those.
Any help is appreciated!

This particular variant just isn't very popular on the forum which is why there's little to no development for it. There are other variants too which haven't had any development, you're just a bit unlucky here.

Still, two years later I cannot find anything either. I really have been wanting to just try installing the /e/ which only supports SM-G920F. First question is can I revert back to stock OS if this fails? Then second, how likely is it that this works with minor bugs?
Hoping this isnt dead. But thanks!

Dont install antthing which is not for your model. Becauee of various differences in hardware you can brick your phone. Even after successfull installation you can face problems with nit working midem or wifi or anything else.

G928R4 is another device and this section is for S6/S6 Edge (G920X/G925X) unified development ONLY, go to post this to you correct forum and theres no hope for some models, the developers doesn't have the fault, the fault have the carriers.

Root My Galaxy A5 (2015)

Hello Guys,
I am new To XDA and recently registered. So I am not sure that I am writing this thread in right place or not. So, please tell me the right place if i am wrong.
Ok, I have Samsung Galaxy A5 (2014)/(2015) (SM-A500G). It came with Android 5.0.2 Lollipop.
As most of you know that few months earlier samsung rolled out the marshmallow upgrade (6.0.1).
I upgraded but my device performance considerably reduces. Even some daily used to tasks start giving too much load to the device. In small words, Device started to hang too many times than earlier.
And some of you may suggest the reasons like:- Nearly complete storage, Power Saving, Too much apps, Virus and malware etc.
(Samsung Help Center Suggested it). But i can assure you this is not the reason. My storage is almost 70% free. etc etc.
The real reason is MARSHMALLOW UPGRADE.
So, I think the best way to solve it is Rooting.
But I am an newbie to the world of rooting. I don't know what is custom recovery, TWRP, Odin, CF-Autoroot etc.
I only heard there names but nothing else.
This doesn't mean that I know nothing about how android works and what is custom ROMs. I can manage these things; but not the above mentioned.
So please anyone of you can tell a detailed guide how to root galaxy A5 (2014) on marshmallow 6.0.1 with all the steps mentioned
and what each steps do. It will be very helpful.
And few things more, 1] I am thinking that after rooting I reinstall the official Marshmallow ROM; as earlier I updated my phone by OTA update and so might it cannot get to it's full potential. I am not sure that this method will work or not, so please clarify this point also.
2] My only source of Internet Connection is the device itself by making hotspot. So please please guys, give me a fully tested crash proof way to do rooting. I don't want to brick my device ( No one wants but in this case if it happens I can't find some way on the internet to reverse it). And you can also suggest any before hand precautions like full Backup of current system image etc etc. that will help if something goes wrong.
3] I already read a few threads on XDA about this issue but I cannot understand properly, so please don't provide links to these threads.
4] Also please provide a list of official and unofficial ROMs for A5
Thanks in advance
I have to read some pages to find a good tutorial but I'll find one. I root Samsung phones all the time. Its not going to brick your device. Asking here was smart, don't trust any website you find off google without fully understanding. Also, you can not install stock ROMs from custom recovery, only from a computer. That process is easy. Download the firmware and flash it. The other choice is custom ROM and recovery. Let me know what option you want to go with and I'll explain more. There are good custom ROMs, ressurection remix. Lineage os. Ice, tipsy is a good one. I use RR on my S5 and s7

Thanks for reply. I really appreciate it.
I read your reply but can't understand it fully. The reason is simple- I currently don't know what is Custom recovery and Flashing. Please explain these terms first and then I will tell what way I want.
Thanks.
A custom recovery allows you to flash zip files and operating systems from your phone directly, but only custom operating systems, not the official Samsung firmware. It is safe to use. Flashing stock firmware is the operating system as Samsung released it with nothing changed. You can gain root access to your device on stock or custom. Usually custom removes the carrier and Samsung stuff that takes up phone memory. It depends on what you want to use your phone for.
OK I go for samsung stock (official) ROM
Flashing is installing the contents of the package to your phone with a special tool like Odin or a custom recovery. And recovery is the menu on your phone from which you can restore backups or flash files.

Create an account on this site, it is free. Locate firmware 5.1.1 for your device, and make sure it is the same as your cellular service provider. So if you are on AT&T download a5 5.1.1 AT&T firmware file. It will be a large file. Once you have the file you will need a computer application named Odin. I will post a link for it shortly.
Hey wait a second. there's 6.0.1 or 5.0.2 files present. no 5.1.1.
Sorry, I replied too late. Actually caught in busy work.
Ok, I googled to know more about rooting etc. etc.
And I got a few uderstanding.
Then I re-read your replies and fully understood them.
Then something came to my mind:-
I am currently on 6.0.1 and Want to re-install it. So I currently downloaded 6.0.1 firmware from sammobile.
So, I don't know Odin can reinstall firmwares or not.
Just for your knowledge. See If we are going right or not.
Thanks
Hey, Anyone out there, please help me.
Might You Mygalaxya
