Hello everyone,
similar to the other developers (fitsnugly and nazforex) I've been working on CM7 Builds for the N1.
Mainly I've been doing this to learn building Android.
Flashing this may brick your device and there is no support from either Cyanogen and his crew or me. You do this on your own responsibility.
This build is not final - it's more an alpha build. If you decide you shouldn't care about bugs.
What's different in this build?
It containts the ringtones / notifications from the Nexus S
I removed the File Manager, Magic Smoke Wallpaper, Microbes, PinyinIME and OpenWnn
This contains the Gapps
Trackball wake (unmerged from CM7 git)
Some files were moved to /data/app
gps.conf was modifed for better reception in europe - Americans just edit the file and use north-america instead europe
Some changes to the build.prop
Donate
I'll release a new build when some important modifications have been made.
You can see the current CyanogenMod changelog here: http://review.cyanogenmod.com/#q,status:merged,n,z
You can flash both via recovery:
You can download the ROM here: http://wp10556497.wp249.webpack.hosteurope.de/builds/update-11-01-2011.zip
The HBOOT 0.35 is located here: http://alternate-coding.com/temp/hboot.zip
Always good to have the choice. thanks
Hi, i didn't get any answer on android-hilfe.de so i may ask you here again.
Does your CM7 build requires to be flashed with Clockwork recovery in order to have the changing icons working (icons change from grey to green...)?
I'm asking because fitsnugly's gapps only work properly with CW recovery.
Thx

Cool thanks. But does the Market work for you and does this ROM have the "losing cell network"-bug when the display goes off?

Please follow this link for a much better solution - Also, be sure to hit the Thanks! button to show your support for DizzyDen's excellent work!
********************************************************************************
I have removed all the files from this post and I encourage everyone to migrate to DizzyDen's superior solution. If for some reason you are unable to use Dizzy's tool you can PM DizzyDen or myself (Martian21) and one of us should be able to get you want you need.
********************************************************************************
[Original Thread]
I have seen several threads regarding this topic and thought I'd try to consolidate as much as I can in one place.
Credit for the original IMEI work goes to mthe0ry His original thread is here.
Because the NOOK Color is not a phone it does not have an IMEI number. This is why some apps that check for an IMEI number do not work on the NOOK.
Thanks to the work of mthe0ry and now DizzyDen it is possible to modify the framework.jar file in order to create a fake IMEI number on the NOOK Color. Doing so will allow programs such as Swype Beta, the free version of the XDA app, HBO GO, and the Xfinity app to work on the NOOK Color.
Unfortunately you need to have a framework.jar file that matches the ROM you are running as changes to the framework between ROMs can (and probably will) cause problems.
[See DizzyDen's thread for the IMEI generator tool]
*** This is mostly obsolete now that Dizzy's tool handles replacing the framework.jar file and backs up your original file - but I will leave it here just in case it is still useful to someone. ***
Installation:
You will need a file manager with Root access such as Root Explorer.
Download the framework.jar file for your Rom.
Unzip the file and transfer the framework.jar file to your NOOK Color.
Navigate to /System/framework using Root Explorer.
Mount the /System/framework folder R/W.
Rename the original framework.jar to framework.jar.bak.
Using Root Explorer, copy the new framwork.jar file.
Paste the modified framework.jar into /System/framework.
Long press the newly copied framework.jar and select "Permissions".
Change the permissions to match framework.jar.bak [rw-r--r--].
Mount the /System/framework folder R/O.
I recommend you reboot your NOOK although resetting the launcher may be enough.
For those that used my original files or the ones from mthe0ry, the original IMEI used in those files is "12-34567-89012-45". If you wish to continue using this IMEI number [NOT RECOMMENDED] you can manually enter it into Dizzy's tool.

I know that nightly 78 was the last nightly that runs on .29 kernel all the new nightlys 80,82,83 and 84 need uboot 1.2 and .32 kernel. I have read that some people have been experiencing problems on these builts. Also being that .32 kernel is still label beta i would like to ask you if you could please make a framework for nightly 78. I have attached the framework file from my nightly 78. Thank you
Finally was able to reboot after copying framework82. Was able to sign in but have yet to play a movie. I get stuck in the spinning circle.

I did a total wipe, stock 1.2 install, then a second total wipe before n82. I then added the modded framework and HBO GO worked really well! But, after adding Dal's 5/13 OC, I then got the spinning circle problem you describe.
I tried re-flashing just n83 to fix it (without Dal's OC), and re-installing the modded framework, but the spinning circle problem remains.
I can't say for sure that the OC kernel broke it -- it could be one of a dozen apps I installed? -- but it's certainly the leading culprit in my case. The 5/13 OC kernel also appeared to break a few of my other apps as well (360 Live failed too, but started working again after I returned to vanilla n83).
I'm going to start the entire process over again tonight to try and narrow down the problem...
I have the 5/13 OC installed but HBO GO is now working on my Nook. Just need to uninstall and reinstall HBO GO. Worked like a charm for me.

I used TiBu to wipe data, uninstall, then install app. Did you reboot in between, or take any other steps?

We are going to fix this in CM soon. Please don't break every other program that uses IMEI to identify a UNIQUE device! I suggestion that no-one uses this. You are really playing with fire here.

I do appreciate your warning (and, as always, all your hard work), but Dal came out and stated plainly that an IMEI solution would not get added to cm7 builds, so the rest of us took his word for it and had to solve the problem some other way.
Now, if you're saying that the solution WILL be built into one of the next few nightlies -- with unique IMEI's -- then that's fantastic!!
However, without it, there's currently no other way to run HBO GO, Swype, etc -- unless we compile our own framework.jar... which isn't an option for some of us noobs.
Has work already begun on a better solution?

This is great news!!!
I will cease and desist as soon as it it completed. Obviously the best thing would be for people to follow mthe0ry's instructions and do this themselves (it's really not that hard) using their own unique IMEI number. That said I'm happy to continue the "hack" method for those who don't wish to do it themselves.
Yes, having multiple devices with the same IMEI could become problematic but so far it's worked for the apps people want. I do appreciate the warning as I probably wasn't as clear about the "hack" nature of this in the OP as I should have been.

please disregard below. in reading the thread better I can see it's not for swype at all but for setting the nook up with an IMEI.
I don't mean to be rude, but why not just use slide-it? I'm cognisant of the simplicity of swype as I use it daily on my Galaxy S, but slide-it is nearly as good and works without fault on the nook (rooted stock and CM7) without any mods.

Concerns about unique devices make me wonder... I have a broken HTC Kaiser sitting on a shelf above my desk. It will never again be a functional device, but yet it has it's own unique IMEI.
Does the IMEI alone tell apps anything about what sort of device belongs to the number? If not, then it seems that I could use the IMEI from that Kaiser or the broken G1 I have.
It doesn't seem like these apps know anything about the device from the IMEI alone, given that people have been implementing this fix with no repercussions. That means apps probably don't check any hypothetical IMEI-device info against what's recorded in the build.prop, so this seems like a safe, workable solution for those of us with defective devices on our shelves.
Is there a way to make this work on a ManualNootered nook with 1.2, or does it only work if you have a custom rom.
Thanks
integrate in CM7
could you not ask the maintainers of CyanogenMod to integrate this in the future nightlies?
they would probably welcome the added functionality
Hi folks,
I'm currently using Quarx's CM9 Defy+ builds and as many others, I cannot access Defy Settings from the system settings screen.
As some of you already know, DefyParts and Baseband Switcher are installed in the rom, it's just the menu entry that is missing.
I wrote a small app to get to DefyParts, to avoid to install BBS, and to get to Compass Calibrator.
I thought some of you might find it handy...
Cheers,
Matías.
EDIT: New version. This one works with both CM7* and CM9 builds. The package name changed, so you will have to uninstall the previous app manually.
Just flash this broh!..
Donwload
Yes I knew of these kind of patches, but I personally prefer to avoid changing system stuff as much as possible. Also if you upgrade from one build to another you won't lose this app but you need to reflash the patch. And if something changes in the source of Settings you need to either live with an old version (that may not always work) or build the Settings apk from source adding the menu entry.
Anyway thanks for the link man.
Cheers.
thank dude..
work fine
Thanks m8

Hi Walter,

NOTE: The package name changed. If you had installed the previous version you will need to remove it manually.

Works awesome for me on the latest CM9 from Quarx.
Hey guys,
this is a port of PDroid v1.32 based on pastime1971 patch. All credits goes to CM9 Team, Svyat and also pastime1971 for his port, because I had no time to do it on my own.
I modified source code to get full working for ICS without any issues. Features:
No java.lang.IllegalMonitorStateException
No android.database.sqlite.SQLiteMisuseException
No FC's of PDroid
No java.util.ConcurrentModificationException
No *** FATAL EXCEPTION IN SYSTEM PROCESS
No NullPointerException
No random SOFTREBOOTS anymore!
I want to share it because privacy for android is needed and very helpful, so please feel free to download and leave comment if it works for you.
Install Instructions:
Go to recovery menu
wipe cache and partition / you also can only flash this zip without a wipe, like update to new nightly
install this zip
reboot
have fun!
Download link: http://www.MegaShare.com/4382332
Just to let everyone know that this build runs perfectly.
Pdroid is a welcome addition.
Cheers to the OP.

Nvm I did a bit of research.... It's an app that needs ROM support (I knew that)
The patches are at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1554960, with an auto patcher at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1719408 for anyone who prefers a one-click method
Just another thankful user here! This thread deserves a little more attention, especially for those looking to patch PDroid on ICS for the SGS II. I have had a hard time trying to find one, and trying to use the auto-patcher without any technical know-how. The ROM in this thread has helped me set up a beautiful CM9 ROM with a working PDroid. Thank you!
For those who are not aware, PDroid is a privacy application that allows you to control the permissions given to specific apps. In other words, with this application, it is possible to hide your Device ID.. your GPS location.. Network location.. And this is the only application that can do that. Sure, there is LBE Privacy Guard as well, but it does not cover other aspects like... say, the SIM card.. your Accounts.. Your contacts...
Even better, this application allows you to create fake values to put in, or if you're feeling a little lazy, you could even randomize the values to put in! A really handy application to have, and something cool to have as a security feature.
Does it work on AOKP roms?

This build is not the same as the patcher from pastime. I've got tons of exceptions while booting and a lot of data leaks! After using it a while I got random softreboots due to nullpointerexception in system thread. I posted in thread that the patch causes random softreebots and they said that it is normal if you revoke permissions of system apps, but that's fail (sorry)! So, I wanted to have CM9 -> build it on my own was the only way to get a working smooth CM9 with PDroid!
I wrote a testing environment on emulator and was able to reproduce the exceptions. First I hav very complex solution, but then I went the "dirty" way, but it works exactly as it should! After that i fixed it and build my own rom, so that it is able to use CM9 and PDroid.

It is a ready CM9 build for galaxy S2 based on nightly from 11.07.2012, not a patch! If you installed this rom before, just update with this zip. If you want to use CM9 on your Device (SGS2), follow the install instruction in main post.
hey,
thx but can you make a fresh build for CM9 RC2 ? I think this version would reach much more users than a build for a nightly.

Thank you, so the problem with the missing code for the pdroid app is solved?
Hey Collegedev,
I had a fair bit of trouble downloading from your file server. So when I finally got the whole file without failures, I extracted the core.jar, framework.jar & services.jar (as that is what is in other working patches), zipped, signed, then flashed it on cm9 builds 18, 19, 21, 22, 23. I'm no pro and I'm new to pdroid, but it all seems to be working to me.
Thank you very much.
I will share this, if you want or you might like to supply the same yourself. (I don't have a great ISP.)
(Please excuse me if I have overstepped my bounds, I'm just trying to help. )
Can I flash this on ParanoidAndroid(cm9 based)?
Wanna make sure first since I'm not sure if it'll break anything.

Hello folks.
Sorry for posting here, but can't achieve to post my question in temasek thread since I haven't post 10 message yet on the boards :S
First I have a wierd problem with screen on data in the battery screen. When i'm on temasek rom (could be related to 4.3) I have to screen off the phone first if I want to have the screen on line to get updated. If I dont put my phone to sleep, the line doesnt even appears before like 10 mins in the battery screen or BBS.
There is also a problem with Fast Dormancy. Tried to disabled it on stock rom, omega rom and it works. No more secril_fd-interace in the wakelocks. But on 4.3, (temasek 10.2) it dosent work, have secril still here... Tried the application on the app store and the manual method of editing the nkw-info. Nothing works.
Plus it seems the problem from screen on appears when I install the FD app from the app store. Not sure about this.
Btw, tried to do all the research I could, didn't find anything.
One last question : is it a known problem that on CM 10.2 the file explorer doesnt read the /emulated/0 shortcut ?
Thanks for the time and your answers !

BBS works fine for me here. Try a uninstall and reinstall and see if that helps.
Did you use the nwk.db attached to the post? It still works fine with 4.3, but the nwk.db file included in CM's data folder does not work for everyone. Remember to set permissions to 770 and reboot after copying the file into your folder.

I'll give a try and come back to give you result.
I have to set my provider number in the nwk.db file right ?
Well got the file, put my number in it, gave it 770 rights, but not working, still have Secrilf_fd :S
Edit : Found this post in tema thread :
Yep, correct! So other users experiencing FD (secril) wakelocks need to remember NOT to use the FD app from Play since it messes up the nwk file and your method (replacing nwk file) will no longer work. I'd actually noticed a comment on Play under FD app that it does allow enabling the FD, but disabling it does not work anymore...
Perhaps an edit of the OP by temasek is in order as well since FD app from Play is recommended there. It's only useful to identifying your network ID, so just for information purposes, like GetRIL. Do NOT apply these apps, just use them for information!
I'm trying a full wipe / install and replacement of the file without using the app to see, and come back to tell. If this is true, Tema have to know to change the frontpage.
Great news ! It fracking works !
So zeli9 in tema thread was right !
The application for Fast Dormancy on temasek's CM10.2 (and maybe all 4.3 roms) mess up the file, and then its impossible even with a manual change of it to disable the FD.
I have no more secril_fd-interace wakelocks.
Is it possible to notice this on the frontpage of the thread so users are aware of this problem ?
Thanks a lot Davtse for your answers (here and everywhere else )
Btw, my question about the file explorer no getting the /media/emulated/0 link correctly (saying wrong folder or something like this) when rooted didnt got answered ? Is it a known issue ?

Sorry, I'm not quite sure about this issue, so hopefully someone else can help you. Try posting in the general section abit(sensible posts please) so you can gain access to the thread itself.

So what exactly have you done to remove fd wakelocks? I too still get them on 4.2.2 and 4.3 ROMS. Gokans app used to stop them completely on Sammy 4.1.2.

Hello again !
Well first of all the app is broken in 4.3 (at least was for me as for Zeli9). Only thing worked for me was the method from davtse found here.
But be sure to note, it will not work if you have used the app. It didn't for me and tried twice. The only thing that worked well was a clean install and then the method from davtse.
You have to edit the nwk file that davtse gave with your good provider number (found with the terminal command explained in his post). You can do this with the program also gave by davtse.
Hope this will help you.
