Guys I changed the rom to xperia Z2 today. The phone booted properly the first time, I entered all the details like time and all that and installed some apps also but suddenly it started to show a lot of errors like process stopped and it was kinda looping so i couldnt even turn off the phone. I removed the battery and rebooted it. It then showed message like encryption failed and was stuck. Rebooted into CWM recovery and the following messages come whenever i try to wipe the dalvik or anything.
E: Can't mount /cache/recovery/log
E: Can't open /cache/recovery/log
E: Can't mount /cache/recovery/last_log
E: Can't open /cache/recovery/last_log
What could be wrong guys, any clue? Thanks a lot.

I think you didn't understand the concept.. You cannot install a rom into a sd card... You can only place the flashable zip file in it... And your recovery doesn't go to internal memory..
---------- Post added at 06:43 PM ---------- Previous post was at 06:39 PM ----------
Also to avoid the error you are getting.. "E:Can't mount... Etc" wipe cache....
---------- Post added at 06:44 PM ---------- Previous post was at 06:43 PM ----------
You probably did a factory reset.. Which we are supposed to while flashing a rom.. Any way... Wipe the cache through recovery... This usually solves the problem...

im getting an errow when trying to install a backup and i read that it can probably be fixed if i install the latest version of clockwork. i currently cant get past the htc boot screen so is there a way to install the latest .img from recovery? im running 3.0.2.4 and have the image for 5.0.2.1 just not sure how to install from recovery.
and fyi. the error i am getting is "Error while formatting /system!"
also i get the same erro when trying to install older backups as well. so i know its not just a problem with my latest backup.
and when clockwork first opens i get
E: cant mount /cache/recovery/command
E: cant mount /cache/recovery/log
E: cant open /cache/recovery/log
E: cant mount /cache/recovery/last_log
E: cant open /cache/recovery/last_log

You could do it through fastboot.
Hi, Im running Neutrino 2.7 Rom. lately I have noticed a problem.. after installation of neutrino ends (using RomRacer latest CWM) it show me These lines.
E: Can't open /cache/recovery/log
(Read-only file system)
E: Can't open /cache/recovery/last log.
Then if I go to "mount and storage" I can see that my emmc is mounted. and if I try to unmount it it tells me
Error unmounting emmc!
This wouldn't be a problem for me if everything was ok except this...
The rom seem to work fine... it passes to boot screen, loads.. but after some time it shuts down, and in order to turn it on, I need to pull battery off and back.
BUT then it turns and stuck in Neutrino's boot screen.
I searched a lot but I didnt found an actual way to solve this. I think there is something wrong with emmc card (internal memory) cause my sd card is just fine. maybe I need need to reparatition my emmc trough ADB? any suggestions would help.
I'm kinda poor and my parents devorced many years ago.. I dont want to tell my mom that my phone is usless
so please, if any one know what should I do.. please dont be lazy to post an answer.
Any body??
Just need some help...
I'm having the same exact problem! If I figure out a solution I'll send it your way immediately!
Found a fix first download automatic bootloader unlock(search google) then do the automatic cwm installer follow instructions. then, download the flashable touch cwm install via cwm and download the project kitchen rom and install it and should be fine like mine
Last night I decided to install ClockworkMod Touch Recovery 5.8.0.2. I downloaded the image file from this link:
http://download.clockworkmod.com/recoveries/recovery-clockwork-touch-5.8.0.2-shooter.img
I then used Flash Image GUI from the Play store to install the recovery. Everything seemed to work just fine. I was able to boot into recovery and the touch features worked.
Today, I created a backup using ROM Manager and it appeared to complete properly. However, now when I boot into Recovery, I get these errors:
E: Can't mount /cache/recovery/command
E: Can't mount /cache/recovery/log
E: Can't open /cache/recovery/log
E: Can't mount /cache/recovery/last_log
E: Can't open /cache/recovery/last_log
I've tried re-flashing the regular (non-touch) Recovery using ROM Manager and it installs, but I'm still getting the same errors when I boot into Recovery.
I can boot my phone normally and everything works just fine. I just can't do anything with Recovery anymore so I'm stuck on this ROM until I find a solution.
Does anyone know how I can fix this?

So based on that post, you're saying my issues lie on the SD Card, and not the internal memory?
Yup
#Root-Hack_Mod*Always\
I ended up fixing this by following the steps outlined here to return to 100% stock:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1193540
I then ran the Revolutionary tool to get S-OFF and manually flashed ClockworkMod Recovery via Fastboot.
I'm now back in business!
Glad you got back up and running.

Errors in clockworkmode recovery
hi everyone
i did a terrible thing and bought a china tablet !
anyway, i installed a new clockworkmod v6.0.2.8 on the device and since then every time i turn on the device, i got these Errors :
E:can't mount /cache/recovery/command
E:can't mount /cache/recovery/log
E:can't open /cache/recovery/log
E:can't mount /cache/recovery/last_log
E:can't open /cache/recovery/last_log
i tried these : wipe data/factory reset, wipe cache patition, backup and restore, install update.zip, install zip from sdcard, flashtools, odin (which doesn't work because phone don't have any home button !), heimdall, wiping and installing multiple roms .
i even tried to open the clockworkmod .img file from the trick i find in xda forum and put the extract files into a update.zip and fix the problem !!!
but unfortunately the .img file can't be extracted with :ext4_unpacker and ext2explore . it says : unknown file format !
i know the tablet is not bricked . because if it was, should not turned on and went to clockworkmod instantly and stuck in the errors i just typed !
if anyone knows how can i fix the problem, please help !
i will be Appreciated !
thank u .

Hi guys, I have this problem too after following this guide: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0zdhyDky2MI
I've also read this issue is present on stock roms only, but I'm wondering if this could be a potential issue for mounting the /sdcard and use it.

am using lenovo a6000 plus. it was stuck at boot logo, so itried to format wit the help of "wipe data"....now its showing up E: cant mount recovery...
could some help to solve the issue?
Just got a factory refurbished Nook Tablet 16GB from B&N and rooted it and installed CYM 7 and it seemed to be working. After doing so, I started having issues with the SD card readers. I originally had a 16GB class 6 Sandisk card in it, but also tried a class 4 4GB Sandisk and a class 10 Microcenter one and all have problems reading. What I'm trying to do now is restore it to stock and see if I can get some help from B&N. Right now, it will give me the N screen and then will show Cyanoboot(it won't let me hold down N to get any menu) and say loading recovery from EMMC and then it will only go into TWRP. I try to install various images from the different SD cards but all will fail. Error messages in the log show E:failed to mount /emmc and E:unable to mount messages. Any ideas on what else I can try?
Thanks,
Col
IJust in case it's not a hardware fault:
Try making a bootable CWM card, boot into it at start over again.
Or you could try the "repart.img" unbrick card.
Searches should bring you to either.

Tried the repart.img to a card. It appears like it works and then says it's going to reboot and never does. Rebooting then brings back the cyanoboot screen and TWRP.
I can boot from a CWM card, but I'm not sure what to select. When I try to factory reset, I get errors:

OK, if you can boot into a CWM card, do that and put something flashable at the same card so it's there when you boot into it.
I'm guessing your bootable CWM card is 5.x.x so you cannot flash CM10 with it. Try putting a CM7 on the card before booting into CWM. That way you have a working system.
TWRP did not play well with my NT and my SD card. CWM has never failed me though!
---------- Post added at 11:07 PM ---------- Previous post was at 11:03 PM ----------
I guess I'm suggesting something along this post (even though I haven't followed that particular routine myself)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2037368
FWIW, I did something like what's in post 25 of that topic to install my CM10.
OMG! My memoery is really bad! I totally forgot that I had trouble getting into cyanoboot when doing that! I see now my own post in that topic, just a few days ago... I used a CM10 sd-card just to get inti cyanoboot, and then I went on from there.
And by the way, what happens when you run the repart.img? What should happen is first it says "don't turn off you device" (or words to that effect),a dn after a not too long while a green checkmark appear. At that point, remove the card and it probably reboots itself, and goes into a new (smaller) "don't turn off..." and that part takes wuite a while.
I just load everything on EMMC and have a copy of the NT recovery flasher apk on hand in case I need to revert to stock.
Well, I tried to boot to a CM7 boot image on the SDcard and it starts to boot and gives me the CM7 screen, but then kicks back to the Nook N screen and boots back into TWRP.
I tried to the repart.img again and it boots, gives me the Please do not turn off, etc. screen, but with a red X in the corner. It then gives me the message that it's done and will reboot, but never turns back on. If I boot it again, it goes back into the TWRP boot.
Stupid question...is the EMMC the SD card or the internal memory? It seems like the errors I get are related to the emmc.
thanks for all the help.
More updates...I got it to boot from a CWM-based recovery SDcard v.5.5.0.4 and when I try to flash a zip file from the SD card, I get the errors:
E:Can't mount /cache/recovery/log
E:Can't open /cache/recovery/log
E:Can't mount /cache/recovery/last_log
E:Can't open /cache/recovery/last_log
Error mounting /emmc!
Ok, what's in this post makes my head spin, but it seems like it could fix the problem...

Check android_winusb.inf (Program Files -> Android -> Extra -> USB Driver) to see if you have an entry for the NT.
FInally got adb running on a different PC booting off a USB Ubuntu installation and followed the instructions in the post that Asawi recommended. After that, I used the repart.img file and restored it and it came back up. Now I have to figure out how to tell if the SD card reader is bad.
Thanks for all your help!
Last night, I was looking at an article I found on Facebook. I was reading the article, and my phone locked up (my phone has a tendency to freeze when I am using any web browser.) So I took out the battery like I do any other time that this happens. I put it back in after two or three seconds. I then turned it on. It is fine until the boot animation starts up. Then it will stay at the boot animation forever. I did not download anything before it happened. The phone is rooted. I have already tried wiping the cache partition and taking out the SD card. Neither worked. Would a factory reset fix the problem, and would it erase the root on my phone. By the way, when I booted in recovery and tried wiping the cache partition, I got the following.

Np I'm trying to look for a good Rom as well. I just cant find a nice and stable Rom. I'm gonna try flashing the PAC-man Rom and see how it goes. You should give that one a try too
@killer13666
A factory reset will not take away your root.
It will wipe call/text history, installed apps, etc and make it just like the 1st time you installed whatever ROM you are on.
