did you install Freedom or any Ad Blocker?
No. I think it's more a problem from wifi becasue with 3g it's working.
After rooting my phone, the store and everything works fine, but when I launch Ingress to check if the FasterGPS really works, I get a "The google play services has stopped working" error and I can't do anything about it. I tried reinstalling it, but nothing works :/ Even uninstalling AdFree as paviano has suggested did not help.. I hope it won't happen with any other apps.
It is because of a hosts.txt file
Somehow you need to download a root browser (try downloading an apk off the internet seeming you cannot connect to Google Play), and then delete a file called hosts.txt. This file sets the ports and IP adress that the Play Store must connect to and after rooting it sometimes doesn't work. So it is found under etc/hosts.txt. Just delete it and it should solve your problem :fingers-crossed:

On my phone its just under etc/, and im not entirely incorrect saying its hosts.txt because it is a text file

/etc/ is a symlink to /system/etc/ so i suppose that you are right but hosts is not a txt file.
Its a binary (sort of) which contains text.

I have a 10.1 tab and I never had problem going to Android Market or recently updated to Google Play Store. However, since last night I was trying to download a ADWtheme and it was getting some kind of -101 error downloading. I realized that all of the apps are giving me the same error. So i tried going to settings-->manage applications-->and clear the cache for the google play Store and also tried to unistall the updates back to original Android Market but still giving me "server error, Retry". Now absolutely no entry to the market. What is going on?? I tried signing out from the google account and re-signin but the same error message.
I wish I can uninstall the market and reinstalling it, but if i unistall the market how can i get it back?? do i have to download the apk from the computer first?? This is really getting frustrated. I hope someone can give me a solution. Greatly appreciated.
Thanks in Advance.

Can you get to the google play store from a browser? If not maybe it is actually a server problem or issue between your ip and the server. It's happened to me at least once but resolved itself.

Yes, I can access through the browser. But this problem is since last nite (more than 24 hour so far and going). Just don't think it should behave like that. However, my galaxy S2 phone can access randomly but not my tab. Well, if anyone has a solution. Please let me know.
-Get Root
-Delete Vending.apk via system/app (Need root for this, Get an arr version of Root explorer or buy)
-Download this Google Play 3.5.15
-Rename it to Vending.apk, place it in system/app
-Reboot
-Voila le file minion.

Root Explorer has always been there on the market, maybe they took it down for some reasons, eitherway you can always find it via Google
You can also us the ES File Explorer. There you have to enable "root explorer" and "mount system" in the setings.
Another possibility is to use the Filemanager HD,whereyou also have to enable the same settings.
Both work on my tab and I can edit system files.

Not working here either but I'm in St lucia on a wifi only. Returning to the states Friday morning. Tried force stops and clearing app, not resetting or anything down here. Wife's wifi phone was OK earlier. Not sure now. Its a et4g .

Yes, it is rooted and still didn't work for me. But Like it post it before, the problem has fix itself on its own. So that is why I assume is the google server problem.
Still not working here.

You can install apps via usb from pc using "adb instal" search that.
If you install root explorer or similar then you can put apks on sdcard and install from root explorer (or similar)

Then there is no other way. Besides downloading to a phone from market and pulling off phone and installing on tab is still a verified source.
Why do you not have internet?? Is WIFI broken on TAB. If you don;t have home internet you can tether your connection from phone.

Recently, I have had troubles downloading apps from the play store.. I was getting the "Invalid Package file." Error.
Well, if you get this error, install this from the play store
https://play.google.com/store/apps/...sMSwxLDEsIm5ldC5mZWxpcGVhcm9uLm1hcmtldGZpeCJd
and the errors will not appear again. Tested and working by me.

But it will work on most devices.
thx worked

Just go to the access point names and see if there is an option to edit data access point settings. Then see if your connection is proxy enabled. If enabled, write down the proxy address for future referance.
Then erace the proxy address and save settings. Now go to play store and see if it works!
Worked for me…

It means that the file is not signed correctly??
The Play Store displays no connection even with wifi. Already tried wiping dalvik cache, cache partition. Also tried force closing and clearing data from Google Play Services, Play Store, Google Service Framework. Help!!
Not enough information, your Play app could be corrupt, app settings, ROM or Google account.
Try logging into Google play on the website first to check the account works, then un-install Play app, re-install without settings, last try factory reset/reflash ROM.
It could be really simple or very terminal, like you've disabled a service or corrupted your ROM.
extra info
Google play account works on website. Tried signing out and can't sign back in - "Couldn't establish a reliable connection". Google play v3.10.14. How do you uninstall google play app?
Have you tried clearing the cache of google play services and google play in the application mananger ?

Thanks Muchly! Didnt think about the ad block.

found a better solution that worked for me without doing a factory reset or device wipe. just delete the hosts file in root/etc/, by using (total commander) app.then reboot ur device and run play store and enjoy. Make a copy of the "hosts" file just incase .
I hope it works for u guys , cuz it's really frustrating error.

Deleting the hosts file and rebooting worked for me too. Thank you! :good:
AdFree
When using a rooted phone and you used Freedom for free in-game purchases, and as a result your play store won't connect, it's due the host file as stated in previous comments by others. To get rid of this problem, simply revert your host file and download the new host (both in the adfree app). This should fix the problem, hope it helps
Wrong Gapps version
After trying all solutions posted in this thread, I realized that the whole problem was that I had flash the wrong version of the Google Apps for the android version.
You can find which is the right one for your CM in the CyanogenMod Wiki. Sorry, I can't add the link now, it is my first link.
Fixed mine by realizing that somehow my system date and time were wrong.

VIDEO TUTORIAL
Well I encountered this issue where Google Play says "No Connection"(Video showing the issue and fix - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7B1bSBbaiig)
According to the video the hosts file in the etc folder was modyfied and there was a line added that blocked the server..
The question I have is, How this happened?
Usually via custom rom .
actually, alternative solution is to delete the host file. System automatically replace it once you opened the app again. Have you used Freedom app? That's usually the case for me.

well, tweaking your Google Play Store with apps like Freedom or even Market Unlocker and similar apps will sometimes cause that problem. so deleting the hosts file is the solution. You can fix this with apps like Root Explorer and Root Browser / ROM Toolbox.
