[Q] ms500 internal flash [SOLVED] kinda. - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

LG ms500
Xperion 4.2.1.
Tr.apk root
Ssu access
Fredom kernal overclock modded with androidforums.com/metropcs-optimus-f6-all-things-root/838351-mod-beta-sdcard-memory-hack-6.html
After successfully modding my kernal thanks to press4pie I have decided I would like to format my internal fat32 and mount it to external sd via volstab. But i don't know which file contains the correct path. Is it 179:32 or 33? (Both contain no os)
Also the correct script to mount it successfully.
Thank you : )
Edit: reason i want internal flash mounted like this is so i can expand my ram onto it, making a nice and responsive virtual ram considering its the internal.
I couldn't figure this out but, i did find out that the emulated sd card is now called "data-stock" and its mounted but not as sd. I also found out that ram eexpander has an option to manually write the address where you would like to allocate the vram. So i cleared out the emulated storage on the internal flash and connected roesoft to it. Done. Using the 1.14g of f6 unused emulated storage for vram. And it writes hell of alot faster then if i was to allocate the vram on tru extsd!!!!!!!

help pls ,,,,,
I have no idea what the question is.
i guess he meant he want to move apps to his sd card ..
1.download link2sd from market
2.copy paste all your sd card files to your computer ( this will format your sd card )
3.reboot to cwm
4.go advance
5.go partition sd card
6.choose your size ( i choose 1024 mb dun go 256mb too little )
7.linux swap 0 mb
9.wait ( quite long about 5mins )
10.done
11.reboot
12.enter link2sd
13. pick ext 3.
14.reboot
15. you can now send apps to sd
The easy way to do it is format it with clockworkmod, it will create an EXT partition and a swap along with the standard FAT partition.
I preferred to use commandline parted and shell fu, but there is also gparted linux liveCD or windows tools like Easeus or Minitool.
Then use link2sd to "link" apps to use the ext partition. Your ROM may already have a2sd, in which case app2sd app is a GUI to control that, or for CM you can use S2E as well
-Download 'Forece2SD' .apk file
Note: This will only work if you are rooted
If you thought My comment was gelpful, Gimme a one-up!
@kabir: force2sd doesn't appear to handle or reformat an EXT partition. There are significant issues with running apks from the FAT sdcard partition (app break on boot, disappear when using usb storage, possibly lower performance due to all the virtual mountpoints), and I think link2sd is better than force2sd because of that.
Can you really use EXT partition of SD card as internal memory ??
he mean swap right? so the main selected memory would be sd card.
i have made a tutorial
go and read it
thx you eraser0
but ur ways is too many steps to follow and it is just linked , have any idea same with this ..? , just flash with CWM and the partition changed ...lol..
Example ~http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1161557
I agree.
The only purpose of suggesting force2sd was its simplicity, and I can't think of a simpler way of freeing up space.
Also, the partition. basically, all we're doing is fooling system to believe that it has more memory than it actually does.

[Q] Full Memory Structure?

I'd like to have a better understanding of the full memory / software / firmware / etc. contents of my Galaxy Note. My understanding is as follows:
There's an internal and external SD card (the latter of which is the 16 GB MicroSD I installed). The contents of both of these are accessible to me when I connect the phone to my computer via the USB mass storage mode, in a fully readable / writeable fashion.
However, there's also some other memory - NAND or something of that nature - to which the firmware is flashed. This is not as easily accessible.
The android structures all of these memory areas into an internal file system, with various parts existing in different directories. /sdcard is the internal SD card, /sdcard/exernal_sd is the external SD card. Everything that is not within the /sdcard top-level directory exists somewhere in the NAND... or something.
----
So, assuming all of that is correct - then I have a few questions:
Where on the phone is everything that is NOT in the sdcard directory stored? Is there an additional memory chip in there? Is that what the NAND is?
On the Storage screen, it is broken down into there categories: Device Memory (1.97 GB Total space), USB Storage (10.84 GB) and SD card (14.83 GB). Is the NAND this 1.97 GB "Device Memory" section?
What about the custom firmware I installed - the ROM? Where is that located? Is it on the NAND?
What about the TWRP Recovery?
And what is a "bootloader"? Does it play into all of this?
It would be really helpful to have a clearer understanding of these general concepts.
The entire internal nand is 16gb.
The "rest of the stuff" is up a folder, in the root directory.
You need root access to access to the root directory funny enough.
The firmware is installed in the /system directory, so was the stock Rom, when you flashed you formatted and overwrote that partition.
Those are pretty much all I'm gonna answer, all of this very beginner and can be found In a plethora of places with little effort.
And please... don't call storage memory, they are different. Memory is ram.

How to swap internal memory and SD Card

I have a custom-made rooted MTK6575 based phone, and it has internal storage of just 127MB and an external SD Card of 8Gb.The Phone spec is 512MB
I want to swap these two and tried all the ways I found from the forum such as
a. Modifying the vold.fstab and vold.fstab.nand
b. Trying out External 2 Internal with Universal Init
Both did not work out.
Upon check the /mnt folder, I realised that there is only one sdcard folder. The internal memory of 127MB seems to be shared with the 512MB and there is no mounting script that I can find.
The only effect I have gotten is from modifying the vold.fstab.nand file. If I change the sdcard to sdcard2, my sdcard will not be seen under storage and only the 127Mb internal storage will be seen.
Anyone can help ? :crying:

[Q] Secondary Partition help needed

hello seniors, i am seeking help regarding making use of secondary memory partition... followed by a tutorial, i made 4-4 GB 2 partitions of my 8GB memory card in order to create extra internal memory, which was 1.77GB by default...
I have rooted my phone and also have installed Link2SD app... But the problem arises is that the app directly link any app installed to my SD card which is now cut down to 4GB instead of 8GB... but the secondary partition is almost empty and unused...
In app settings, if i choose link files to internal memory then my 1.77GB memory is consumed instead of the secondary partition...
so my question is how come i make use of that extra partition that i created??
in phone settings also there are options of writing new apps in either phone memory or external card... how can i access the secondary partition

[Q] [HELP] Internal SD won't mount in ROM Port (PICS inside)

First thanks for taking the time to help me out..
Okay, so i have a been trying to port Huawei's EMUI 3.0 4.4.2 Kitkat, the Jiayu G4S and so far everything else works great except I can't seem to mount my internal sd anymore... The Jiayu G4S comes with an internal memory of 16gb of which 4gb is used for apps and 9.6gb is used as the internal sd. So far the ROM appears to have used the 4gb as its internal sd+internal memory for apps and the 9.6gb partition is no where to be seen
In CWM recovery mode, mounting usbstorage/ mounts the 9.6gb with no option to mount the other partition...
I've tried editing the framework-res.apk storage_list.xml to match stock rom but didn't work..Any way, below are pics of the partition table? as it currently stands..
the 9.6gb is the one am trying to mount:
port's storage-list.xml
stock storage-list.xml
opening sdcard1 shows a blank page and emulated shows two folders
1. folder '0' (opens the 4gb partition)
2. folder 'legacy'( still opens the 4gb partition)
mmcblk07 is currently serving as the sdcard0...internal storage and internal sd. Another thing to note is that while the 4gb partition is ext4, the 9.6 one is fat32.
So what am i trying to achieve, to set the 9.6gb partition ( mmblk0p8) as my default Internal SD and the mmblk0p7 as the internal storage for apps and nothing else..just like in the KitKat stock rom.
All help is greatly appreciated..Thanks..
bump?
anyone?
SOLVED IT!!!
okay so after a really steep learning curve i managed to do it by replacing everything in my ported boot.img's init.ssd with that of the stock's init.no_ssd.rc
Mod can safely close this thread...
