[Q] Phones that play well with call recording? - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi, I do a lot of work by my phone and would love to be able to record my conversations (the law where I am is murky about this and people getting in trouble for this is unheard of) which would be awesome for my work because my memory is not wonderful so would be able to refer back to all my conversations etc. Problem is I’ve tried various software on my Sgs2 and it frequently crashes the very few recoding apps that I could get to work on it at all, after reading the SGS2 forums it just seems that call recording on that phone is a bit of a lost cause.
So my question is, are there any phones out there that have a particularly good track record of working well with call recording apps? Or and/or Also, are there ROMS or something else I should be looking out for regarding compatibility? Any help on this would really help (a lot less humbling than calling back and asking “do ya remember that conversation we had…” and more convenient than fumbling around for a pen/paper)

If you are not a brand freak then try the Gionee S5.5. It's a great phone with great specs plus it has an in built recording option with very good results. The recording quality is Crystal clear with very good results.

[Q] Sound quality in video (in a noisy environment)

I need to know guys how I could get a better sound quality while recording video in a concert. Usually, while we're performing there's a guy filming with a professional camera but sometimes we don't get a copy of it. I want to have a personal video of us taken by my X10, so I ask a friend to record and I let him to use my phone.
The results of the video vary depending of the ilumination of the place. But sound results are terrible. Loud amplifiers, distortion in guitars etc. plus people cheering make only noise in the video and what I sing isn't understandable sometimes. So please, Im asking if there's any way to get better sound in an environment like this.
Thanks in advance.
Are you using eclair? Or froyo? Well the original Sony firmware has better camera drivers plus it also supports HD recording. I would suggest you to use that. The sound quality is pretty good.

Cheers!

Im using Eclair .435 Generic Global ROM, wich I think is still from SE, Im not using any custom ROM.
Ahem... Im talking about the sound quality. The video is just great, but the sound is horrible when recording with a lot of noise around.
Thanks.

[Q] video call quality streak iphone ipad

Hello,
i compared video call between the dell streak 5 (with streakdroid 2.1 , android 2.3.3) and the new ipad using TANGO
and
video call between the iphone 4S and the new ipad using FACETIME
I found that video call between iphone/ipad was much better than video call streak/ipad: the call was very clear
What can be the reason ?
I know FACETIME has been developed expressly for iphone/ipad, so that can be a reason
Another reason is perhaps that iphone has better hardware quality than the dell streak....
What do you think?
Anyone knows some ROM (newer than streakdroid) to be tried to improve video call quality, or if exists any version of TANGO, SKYPE, OOVOO, FRING that can improve video call quality on dell streak 5?
THANKS!

I think you are right but i still have a doubt:
the following is a completely different case, but:
my friend has galaxy s3 (it has ICS and good hardware, i think...), i asked him to call my pc (using SKYPE):
the call quality was very very poor;
then i asked him to call me with his pc (always using SKYPE): the call quality has improved
i thought galaxy s3 was a powerful device, why call quality was so bad?
could be that video chat applications for android like TANGO, SKYPE, OOVOO, etc can not provide a good quality on android smartphones because they are necessarily general, not expressly designed for a specific device...
in this way , they cant take advantage of the specific harware, that could provide higher performances...
instead, FACETIME, expressly designed for ipad/iphone can take advantage of its features....
but this is only a doubt, i am not a technician....

[Q] Is there any way/mod to fix the audio distortion? (loud environment)

I'm coming from an iphone 4s and i find my s3 is much better, but it fails A LOT on the audio/video recording..
on the iphone it was pretty smooth, even in concerts with super bass and etc, great audio..
but in the s3 i can't hear any sound, just a lot of distortion and noise, even in my voice, i need to speak low when recording something.. too sad..
searched in here but i couldnt find any conclusive method/mod.. only people saying its some driver/codec/software problem, not with the mic or sound board (the s3 soundboard is great)..
I'm using CM10 (4.1.2) in my S3 and Siyah kernel..
is there any working mod to fix this problem? would make me very happy, i do a lot of videos..
thanks!
bump..
Yeah i use custom sammy rom sounds alot better and clearer

[Q] Camera click sound, do you guys have it too?

Hello guys,
I've been using my brand new XZU coming from a Note 2 and LOVE it really, and im not missing the camera LED.
Anyway, to get on topic:
Whenever i start my camera app, and close it again i hear this clicking sound coming from the camera.
Do you guys have this too?
Its regarding the 4833 model (if im correct) it supports 4G connections.
Thanks for your time reading this!
Yes, i got it too, but i also heard it on my Note. I believe it's the camera focusing (physical auto-focus), and most newer phones do have this "clicking" sound or "noise".
Thanks for the quick reply

Any annoying software bugs? (Particularly UK users)

Hi guys and girls,
I'm looking at getting a new phone soon and my choices I've narrowed it down to, for different reasons, are these:
Google Pixel 2 XL - good battery life, great camera, pure android
OnePlus 5T - good battery life, good development scene
Huawei Mate 10 Pro - can get a good deal on it, great battery, great camera
Cons of the Mate 10 Pro all revolve around EMUI. Bugs/features I've heard about so far are these:
Non-push notifications not working
No notification drawer on lock screen
Quick reply actions etc not always working
These all seem really annoying and are things I wouldn't have a problem with on the Pixel 2. I could root, and install AOSP, but that would just have different bugs, and I'd lose the AI which is obviously a big feature of this phone, plus the camera quality would be lost.
So I'm looking for any users who have either had these issues fixed, or know workarounds, or have any other little bugs that I should know about.
Thanks

Thanks. Not a big widget user, but annoying to know things like that are broken. Do you think that once the phone is released in the states, support will be better? Pretty big market

Its difficult to say, it seems like a simple fix for Huawei, so don't know why it's taken so long to sort out.

And that's the sort of thing I'm concerned about. They are a massive manufacturer and therefore you'd think that issues like this should be sorted at release. I understand that Oreo is still new and all manufacturers will have issues, but this would be my first Huawei phone and I'd like it to be in good shape! And a good experience.
Audio switches from bluetooth to loudspeaker after some time.
Call quality is very bad due to the AI chip.
Since these issues are there since release, I wouldn't recommend that you buy the Mate 10 Pro.
12 pages of bluetooth issues on German forums: https://www.android-hilfe.de/forum/...0-pro-android-8-bluetooth-problem.853624.html
The two issues stopping me from buying this now are what I've heard that third party apps don't show notifications on the lockscreen always on display and the LED works spordically.
Pretty important that I know I have notification considering this is a communications device I would say.
Also there are reports about poor wifi and cell signal.
