Hey.
I've tried to find the answer to this through your forums but I'm afraid I'm a phone thickie!
My phone keeps turning off and has the dead android with the red triangle and says successfully applied CSC. I haven't done anything to make it do this!
Could someone please explain in simple terms if I can do anything to recover the phone? I would be very grateful!
Thank you,
Terri

Your phone is partially bricked (stuck or unusable). Don't worry, first you need to download stock 4.1.2 rom from sammobile onto your PC, then extract the zip file. Make your phone go into download mode (hold power button, home button, and volume down), you should then confirm to go into download mode. Connect your phone to your PC, then download, install then open odin (two of my guides I have attached odin so you can download from there. Click on AP or PDA and locate the tar.md5 or tar file in the extracted folder and then click start. Let your phone flash all of the files. Once done, quickly make your phone go into recovery mode (press and hold volume up, home button, power button) then you should see the recovery menu, choose and confirm factory reset and wipe cache partition. After that's all done, you can reboot to system.
Hope this helps, gsstudios
Hello. Thank you for your help. But it says failed ?
Might I be doing something wrong?
I'm having an issue with my phone volume down button. Even though I can physically press it without any problem ,the phone itself won't detect keypress. So I cant even go to download mode.
At first I have tried to clean the cache, dalvic and tried the same rom - not working
Tried that volume up+ power thing while it turn on ... not working
cleaned the phone physically but there were no dust or anything -not working
Installed original rom after formatting my partitions still not working
Still my phone stuck with safe mode. If this issue cant be fixed can anyone suggest me to disable safe mode in this phone or suggest me a rom which is not having safemode function . I know it's really dumb question to ask. But I have no other option to left .
please help me out !
@SLDarKprince, step out of safemode by hard reset:
press Power for ≈5s.
Reboot into downloadmode via TerminalEmulator:
su
reboot download
or into recovery:
reboot recovery

the rom which i used , had power option menu which include "recovery, download, power off, restart". So i hadnt any issue with it. Also at that time it detect vol.down button sometimes. But now.. it dosent work at all
...so it wasn't firmware. And flashing firmware by Odin would be the way to repair any software-bug. But unlikely, that you manage it without power buttons.
A new phone?

oops are you sure? aren't there any other way to force-disable safe mode in OS.
Hey everybody. I was recently playing around with SlimKat for a bit but I wiped data and It's in a bootloop (I think) .Unfortunately, the home button on my S2 is broken, so I am unable to get to recovery mode by the normal means.
Is there any other way that I can access the recovery mode without using the home button? Unfortunately the phone won't boot so I can't use an app on Android to do so. I want to reflash SlimKat and I also don't have a PC. Help it's urgently.

The only real solution is to fix the home button. At some point you will NEED it!
There are ways to get the phone working though if you want to make your life more difficult.
1. Get a USB jig to access download mode.
2. Flash stock rom for your region from sammobile or similar website.
3. Enable ADB debugging, then use ADB to reboot to recovery.
You may still run into problems doing this, as you most likely will need to do a factory reset from 3e recovery after flashing the stock rom for it to boot properly.
Please use internet search and search on XDA for more info, but I'll repeat myself: You need to fix your home button

Do you have an sd card? Or usb drive with a usb otg connector? If so, (Not sure if cm recovery us close to twrp, but if it is) then you should be able to copy the data folder to one of those and then flash a new Rom and then copy and paste some of the directories. Orr do a nandroid backup if /data, and then flash a new ROM and restore that data backup afterwards. They would have to be the same Rom as you have now though
Sorry it took me so long. Next time quote me so I get a notification

Hold down a set of buttons (Not sure which ones for you, but force restart it and then switch to buttons to boot into recovery. Google the button combo )
How did you flash cmw recovery? Should be the same as that

I found this guide on how to flash twrp and root, you shouldn't worry about rooting until you get booted up first... As for the force reboot, I couldn't find out how to force power it off, so try some of the following:
- Take our battery (if there is a removable one)
- Hold down the volume down and power simultaneously for about 10 seconds (maybe less, maybe more)
- If there is a physical home button, try holding volume down, power and home. (Or volume up)
Once powered off (when the screen turns off, you maybe have to be quick before it restarts. If it does just re-power it off and try again) then hold down power and volume up to boot into recovery mode. You shouldn't need twrp if you can boot into cmw. But I do recommend it when we are finished...
You'll also need a custom (or stock) ROM to flash. I'll show you how to push to your phone with adb if mtp doesn't work in cmw.

Alrighty so if you have fill adb drivers than great, if not this should still work fine...
Download this: https://androidfilehost.com/?fid=673368273298958289
Has adb in it, ignore all the root stuff. So extract the file to your desktop and open the folder. Put your ROM in the folder and name it something easy like rom.zip (important it's not rom.zip.zip)
When in the folder, hold shift and then right click inside the folder and select "open command window here" and then type "adb devices" and make sure something comes up with a ton of random characters. If nothing comes up (make sure phone is plugged in lol) then install your phone's drivers. Then try again. Next type this exactly as follows (if you names it rom.zip)
Code:
"adb push rom.zip /sdcard/rom.zip"
**NOTE the space between rom.zip and /sdcard**
This should take awhile, depending on how big the file is. You should see a pulsing dash in the left side of the command prompt. It will stop blinking and bring up a new line when done. Now go into cmw and flash the file in your sd card (rom.zip)
Going to sleep, I'll reply early in the morning before school

Root.bat is for Samsung yes, but adb is universal. We aren't worrying about root
Since you didn't have adb installed this is a lightweight version so you don't have to install it. This is just the file link I had on hand

You must still have access to fastboot, if you got your phone yesterday then I'm assuming you haven't unlock it yet, so have you tried the DLOAD method from sdcard?
Usually that fixes the issue since it rewrites the system completly.
If you don't have a link, here's a guide for you from dear @Merlin_99:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/huawei-p20-lite/how-to/root-how-to-install-update-t3841557
You can do everything there except this last part:
"Finally, enter to the project menu from dialer typing *#*#2846579#*#* ==> Software Upgrade ==> SdCard Upgrade.
Wait for the installation and before configuring the device enter in Recovery Mode (from the phone off, VOLUME-UP + POWER ON) and make Wipe Cache Partition, Wipe Data/Factory Reset, Reboot System Now. "
Because we need to be able to do it without powering on into the system since it's corrupted.
After you copied the files needed power off your device and then press POWER ON + Volume Plus + Volume Minus until a circle of EMUI appears and release them because the update progress has started.
That's all if you didn't use DLOAD method before.
Cheers,
AS
