Overclock higher than 2.7? - Sprint Samsung Galaxy Note 3

Is there anyway to hit 3.0ghz?
I swear I was able to do this with beast kernel at one point.

Don't know if it will work, take a look http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2646185 .
I would give a shot out to "Imoseyon" maybe he can come up with a kernel to a least be adjusted to the voltage and cpu clock speed to hit 3.0ghz may not be stable, but it would cool to see how fast it can go !!!

[Q] SETCPU on bionix-v limits upper speed to 1000: cant change and dont know why

Hey everyone. First off, I am very new to all this. I started reading last week about the idea of rooting a phone, and ended up doing it the next day. I have bionix-v installed now for almost 1 week, and no problems at all, except for one. The max speed limit in the "conservative" mode in SETCPU is 1000, but the TEAMWHISKEY Website says to set it from 200-1200. I was wondering if anyone can tell me why it's not allowing a speed higher than 1000, and what I can do about it to speed it up? After doing auto detect, the conservative mode simply gives the range of 100-1000. Any help is appreciated.

You need to get a overclock kernel look at their post for more info.
I suggest u don't, it gives horrible battery life

yeah...
Bionix-V comes with VooDoo kernel...but it can't be overclocked...if you want overclocking get the Dragon kernel or DoW (Destroyer of Worlds)
Personally i would wait for a while until kernel devs get their hands on the official source code...so the OC kernels won't have such crappy battery life
Hey guys thanks for the quick replies. I tried to read up as much as I could but missed that info. Since you both suggest not doing it, or not doing it right now, I'll take your advice. Thanks a lot!
It isnt really needed anyway unless you just want to see higher numbers. just remember higher overclock doesnt always mean higher test scores.
Infact I often will underclock my kernel to 800mhz. these guys do such a good job you dont really even notice the speed difference.
Dow=fast kernel but leaves your battery dead and lonely.
dragon kernel has been my fav up until eugene's but still worse on battery.
Dont mess with eugene's kernel as it isnt overclocked yet and it isnt very noob friendly.

i agree, it's possible to make overclock kernels only when devs have source codes of a kernel. we had not had one until eugene recently released one (still not official vibrant kernel source). this means both dragon and dow kernels are based on galaxy-s i9000 model. because the kernel is not optimized to our phones, battery drain is quite bad. since we do have kernel source codes and eugene and team whiskey are working to improve it, we will probably see good overclock kernels soon.

[Q] Voltage control freezing

Each of our phone's have different settings. If 1.3 is not working for you, work your way up from 1.1/1.2
here's some of ppl's settings
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1050687
ill give it a shot thank you.. what is the difference in the schedualer?
Everybodys phone is different, no kidding. I look at others uv states at a normal 50 to 75 and I'm lucky to get 25 on mids and 50 on lows. Do oc up to 1.2 but as far uv goes, my phone doesn't like it.

Increasing Processor Speed

is it possible for me to increase my processor speed?? am using xperia mini pro.... it has 1Ghz but am thinking of increasing it. is it possible???
Have you tried overclocking?

Oh my god! Overclocking is not for starters! Be sure to read a lot before doing that. Go to wiki and search here on the forum. I can only say that you are doing in that in a irresponsible way, you could have bricked your phone.. The restart were normal overclocking brings instabillity. Just dont overclock if you like your phone.

I know that too but its really risky specialy when you overclock that much...
Try to search for a quicker rom or kernel instead of overclockin.

Of course you can overclock but be very carefull not setting cpu speed too high and never set the speed at boot before you're absolutely sure that is stable else your phone will keep restarting like it did. Also overclocking depends on kernel too, so different kernels different stable max speed.I use rage 2.4 on my st15i and i went as far as 1.6 only to run some benchmarks.1.8 or more is very risky even for benchmarks the heat could destroy your phone. These speeds are not for everyday use beside the risk of destroying it the battery consumption would be massive.I'd say 1.2 for everyday use is perfectly normal cause it's already a very fast phone

Overclocking and better batt life?

Ok, so I'm not a cpu guru, and have heard that overclocking actually gives better battery life. Can someone explain how this works or if its true?
Thanks

Or that a turbo/hemi is fuel efficient *cough cough*
I'm no computer scientist, but I have over clocked my computer and researched a lot on it before I messed up a $700 cpu. When you over clock, you can usually get out a little from the cpu without upping voltage, but to get a decent amount of OC, you have to increase voltage which sucks your battery.
So a generally answer is that it decreases battery, to my knowledge.
Sent from my EVO using Tapatalk 2
I think the "myth" that overclocking saves battery stems from the idea that if your phone is working faster you can get things done faster and won't be staring at a lit screen waiting for something to happen.
My personal thoughts on OC is that it may yield higher benchmark scores, but doesn't affect my day to day usage other than decreased battery life. Maybe on my 528mhz HTC Hero it was helpfull but not on any of my current devices lol
maybe

Maybe they meant underclocking. My kernel on my shift right now allows as low as 61mhz . And as high as 1.9 ghz. (Drob311's).

[Q] Soft undervolting (-25 to -75)

Right now my rom and kernel is stable but would like to have a little more battery life and consider undervolting a little.
Just wondering whether the gains of soft undervolting (-25 / -50 / -75 across all steps) are visible in terms of increased battery lives for our GS2. Anyone did any test/comparison to determine if your battery life is better/ overall temp of device is lower?
Thanks in advance!
Get Gsam battery monitor from playstore and under volt -25 and test for 2 days aleast for freezes and sods. Then drop to -50 and so on. Some phone wont drop by -25 without sods. Also setting cpu to 1000mhz Saves battery not having to jump to 1200.
In my experience, some increase in battery life. I guess it depends on what kind of user you are. If you really chew through battery & find yourself reaching for a charger/spare battery halfway through the day, it might be significant/make a real difference to you. If you're someone who charges their phone overnight/uses the phone relatively 'normally', you probably wouldn't notice any great difference, and it might not be worth your while going through the time/hassle of working out exactly how much undervolting your CPU can handle.
Well, I've read some threads on undervolting and I think having a scaling stability test using the StabilityTest app could save quite a lot of hassle to do testing for cases of freezes and SOD. That was what got me thinking about doing some undervolting but not too aggressive to the point that I'm bordering on unstability, thus this thread! :cyclops:
Ok then max Uv -50 just test that -75 prob wont work anyway without problems

Just wondering if -25 will have any effect at all. Hmm.
Anyway @andrewwright you mentioned something about Gsam battery monitor, it seems to do the same as betterbatterystats. I have BBS, so that's enough right?
. Its up to you what battery monitor you use . With -25 shouldn't be a problem. Each phone is different. Mine is group 1 which is a bad group to have but I can and am Uv by -50. And all ok

Haha yeah just checking to make sure its not some special app that does something else special :good:
Well, but -25 probably won't make much of a difference right? I have group 3.

So undervolting is useless.Display takes much power so decreasing brightness is the only way to save maximum juice.

well, its not that 'Undervolting' is useless, but while doing so u have to take some risk, which IMO do always bring about bad results (rather than saving some Juice on ur batt, it might cause instability most of the time ).
So it would be better, the same is left to devloper's of Kernel's since they know what they r doing
This is why I have said little steps first.
I'm not going to say I'm right when a Rc is here saying don't do it but there are risks in pretty much every thing on xda.

Pretty damn right you are, I guess that's how xdadevelopers came to rise isn't it? :victory:
But well to each his/her own, there seems to be a healthy bunch of people on this forum that loves their undervolting but yes I agree that to tech noobs like me, maybe we shouldn't mess around so much unless we know for sure what we're doing haha
Thanks for the help everyone! Appreciate it!
