Nope as long as you do it right I have flashed more than 50+ roms in the past and it still works fine Just read all the instructions in the stickies and backup your efs and data and you should be fine.

Just aslong as you know how to go from one rom to the other, and ***always*** keep backups, you're good to go.
And if you're not familiar with the process, just find good threads with well writen how-to's / step-by-step guides and that's it. If unsure, don't freelance or you may get yourself a nice paper-weight

Could someone please explain how the Criskelo, Miui and Villian Roms different from eachother? I would be thankful. I already looked them up but I can't understand the differences...

Try again, miui is totally different, the other two are very similar.
i wish to understand also the differences of villianrom and cyanomogen. very confusing.
i'm really new so i'm not so adventurous to venture into roms yet.
From wat I know cynogen mod give you stock android feel n experience.

You need to read the relevant rom posts for a description of each .
If you dont understand then dont flash stick with stock .

Hello guys, I just bought my first andriod phone(SGS3) a few days back. I want to flash my phone with a custom rom, and i dont know how to do it. so, I would really appreciate it if anyone could guide me to step by step tutorial, from the start to the end. And also if you could recommend the best jelly beans rom out there as of now, would be great. BTW I'm on mac OS, if its any different. And how do I take Backup of my phone? I see different terms like nandriod backup etc, and I have no idea what they are. Thanks a bunch

There are no best roms and what rom posts are banned .
Jelly bean has yet to be released by Samsung .
You need to search for how to use a MAC with the phone .

Thanks for the quick reply, I wasnt expecting that
I know Samsung has not released Jelly Bean yet, thats why I asked for the custom ones(the ones devs make). I dont know the difference between them and what AOKP or AOSP or CM10 means
Any idea where to search for the MAC thing? I cant find it here.
Plus, What do i need if i want to make a rom myself? Is there a guide for that? I'm good with coding n all, but this andriod stuff is a lil confusing for now..
I followed zedomax @ http://galaxys3root.com/galaxy-s3-root/how-to-root-galaxy-s3/
He's awesome
I made this guide for noobs like me:

Thanks! Awesome tutorials!
Just one more thing I wanna ask. I was looking to install the following SuperNexus ROM. Lemme know if you had tried it. The only thing that worries me, is the memory leak issue. Otherwise it looks great!

I cant say ive tried super nexus. unfortunately i tried cyanogenmod first and i love it too much!
Here's a suggestion. Follow the guide and install cm9, mess around with it n see how you like it.
Make a nandroid backup then try cm10, see if you like jelly bean better.
make another nandroid backup and install supernexus. now you can switch to whichever rom you liked the best
Also ive updated the thread with cm10 instructions.
Good luck n happy flashing!

Just one problem though.. i cant connect to hotmail server from the email app :S have tried everything and it keeps say "couldnt connect to server". Anyone know a fix for that? I cant post on the supernexus thread as I have less than 10 posts, so if anyone could answer it here, that would be great
Hi, I want to try to make a custom rom for my S3, and I was asking me if there are some tutorials for that or not.
Can you help me?
Thanks
Search for Aroma All there..... Good luck!!! You'll need a lot of it
Go to android development and hacking forum here on XDA, loads of tuts and guides

Plus search exact same question posted multiple times .
XDA Chef Central .
But you would be best in my umble opinion to mess about and change an existing custom rom yourself to get an idea of what is required as a first step .
Basics are Cut and Paste .

I'm a developer, and since I bought my Samsung S3, I wanted to create a custom rom. I'm motivated.

AS you post above shows lack of basic knowledge .
Please read the basics before flashing all stickied faqs and guides .
Is it worth it your choice suggest you actually take time to read the rom thread and decide .

JJEgan is being like that because this has been asked multiple times... now if you just search around the forums especially the Stock Firmware thread you'll find your answer.

ok i will
thanks for your relpy !!!
I've been using the 4.3 Wanam version with Yank custom kernel, as the official version IMO is not production quality yet.
If you just want a normal upgrade through OTA or Kies, my advice would be to wait as the current 4.1.2 stock firmware is very solid.

You lack basic knowledge and therefore in greater risk of bricking your phone .
If you are a experienced flasher you should know better than to ignore the basics .
Your choice your brick .
