Is there a way to get OTG support on Moto E so that it supports flashdrives, gamepads, mouse and keyboard and etc?

May be tweaking kernel may allow usb OTG. Because Moto E has USB OTG API but it just doesnt have OTG supporting kernel. It also has USBhost 1 , USBhost 2 etc.... and also Mouse pointer Settings , Trackpad settings etc inbuilt.... There should be someway to enable the OTG support in the kernel. Hope somebody does it .... !!
Please help guys... Its an important feature.. Please create a kernal to enable otg.
Its not just the kernel. The port should be able to deliver enough power, which is highly unlikely.
So, even if a kernel enables it, you'll need a Y cable to provide external power, and a power source.

It might, and thats a big might, be possible.
A compatible kernel, a Y cable, and an external power source might work, but its certainly not worth the trouble.

I find it hard to believe.. Coz.. Many people reported, that ut was working on ine of the previous version of Android on moto e.. Though with limited support and with specific app (nexus media importer/ es Explorer).. But it worked.. Which means.. Micro USB port is not an issue. And only issue is kernal or the software part...
Am i missing something here? .
I also tried Quallcomsettings today to enable the OTG with no success.

I'm not sure I saw anyone confirming it. However, if it was supported, it should have been promoted by Moto as it would be another aspect that would set the device apart from competition.
Though I do have an E running stock 4.4.2. Will check out and see if it actually works.
Btw, if you have unlocked your bl, why don't you revert to 4.4.2 and see for yourself..

I have been using the RAZR with the lapdock for a while running ics. I'm going to order the padfone dock and test our device for compatibility. videos showing the Ports during unboxing have the same augment, but a power port may need modification.maybe it will work without that. perhaps someone could develop drivers if it isn't natively supported. What do you think?

On padfone are 3 connectors : micro hdmi, micro USB and another one connectors
You should watch unboxing all components on Droid-life.com

Sorry to bring this thread back from the dead, but I wanted to know if this actually worked?
I see it's just USB and HDMI, but I have my doubts that the touch screen in the padfone dock would work on the Razr's operating system..? Would it need a driver? And would that driver be embedded in the Padfone's OS?

I've found something called transpad or that goes with transphone, but they talk about a universal transpad with an adaptator.

Not a lot of information available, but the implication is that it's been enable, but not tested. I *really* want a physical keyboard at times. Has anyone got one to work?

Is the usb otg working in the overclocked rom build by succulent? I have it installed at it mentions additional storage:/mnt/usbdisk in storage settings and has CifsManager installed by default. You can find the CM7.2 rom by searching iamafanof with Google.

The NT is not yet OTG capable. It needs to be enabled in a kernel.

Here's the question tho: will it support any kind of USB OTG? As in, can I plug in my 2TB external HD into it for expanded storage space for media?

Let's hope
In my case I dont have any hurry to buy it now. And without micro sd support I will wait until otg usb storage is confirmed.
I have a Nexus 4 and it doesnt have full otg native support.
I currently have a Asus TF201 tablet, slowly and laggy tablet, but with great storage capacity (microsd, otg, and extra storage via keyboard dock).
Yeah, one reason I skipped Nexus 4 was because of lack of USB OTG support.
Event hough the online manual first stated that Nexus 4 support USB OTG, Google retracted the manual with the new one that says it doesn't support it.
So I'll wait until someone got a hands on on this.

I hope for the people that don't have root
google will make otg officially supported
I'm fine rooting my device if that's what it takes. But if I root, run a custom ROM/kernel, I'll definitely be able to get OTG support, right?

My Nexus 7 (2012) and Nexus 5 both support USB OTG with stock OS , no root needed.
For Nexus 9 we'll probably know next week
