Haha. Me too, I was just watching a cm11 video. I had it on my old m8 and liked it allot.

Custom Kernels!!!! Synapse was amazing app to use with the right kernel. Honestly I really dig the stock rom. Maybe just remove some things and I will be fine. Of course I will be trying CM when it comes.

We've got to wait until the patches for custom AOSP roms to work with Bump are released, I believe. Might be able to flash stock based roms without patching, though.

Ending up picking up a G3 this weekend. Coming from an S3 with Carbon 4.4.4 and plenty of xposed modules. Overall a great device.
I thought I would miss my heavily customized AOSP rom but the G3 provides a great stock experience.
I'll hold out on a L AOSP version...if there ever will be one.

[Q] HTC RUBY minimalist ICS/JB roms

Hey, this is my first post so sorry if its in the wrong place.
I have had my Amaze 4G for about a year and had wanted to experiment with different roms. Unfortunately there are not a lot which I can get to work with radio and tethering. I am with Wind (dont laugh) but only the T-mobile roms seem to work without incident. I had a good experience with EnergyROM but after trying the CyanogenMOD 10 4.1.2 nightlies I have been looking for a rom which has only the very basic apps preinstalled and no gapps. I really like cm10 because I only get what I want but being unstable releases the battery life is really bad. I wanted to post this to see what people are using which fit this criteria or if there is a way to edit the custom rom zips to remove these apps.
Thanks XD
Try venom rom. You can customize pretty much anything. I don't know the current state of tether on this ROM though because I don't really use it.

I saw the dev page for it and it seems like exactly what i've been looking for but the last time i tried installing i ran into issues. Something to do with s-on/off I think. I have no idea how to make set it to off =/
edit: until i get android rev working would it be safe to just open up the energyrom zip and delete all the apks i dont want? I figured for non essentials like facebook and gmail it wouldnt affect much

Which of there two ROMs should I get?

When moonshine is released, I will be custom romming my DNA. I've narrowed my choice down to CM10.1 and Hatka Supreme. I'm looking for some input on this to help me decide, so I know what to download when Moonshine is released.

It's so easy to flash roms once you learn your way around, you would truly be limiting your experience and cutting yourself short if you don't try different roms. But I'm more than willing to talk someone through the process of narrowing things down, and based on your usage, likes and dislikes I can make some recommendations but I do it based on each users needs. Feel free to PM me if I can answer any questions or point you in the right direction.
The best advice is to make a backup of stock and then flash every ROM. I love revokt and soon pio will make a thread for carbon which I will try. These are both based on the cm build for the drivers (simplified explanation). I personally don't like sense but you might so try them all especially the aosp based!

I used to be an CM/AOKP fan, but after trying the Sense roms i was convinced they could do everything a CM/AOKP rom could do.
Boy I was wrong. As soon as I flashed Revolt rom the DNA beast was released. It was fast, snappy, and responsive. I've tried all of Pio's work and i settled on Carbon.
As people have said, try them all and see for yourself. You may come to a different conclusion than me and that is fine because the rom has to fit you, not what someone on the internets suggests.

Thanks for the responses and opinions. I'm fairly familiar with flashing on my Sammy Captivate, but not much experience with HTC and a locked bootloader. I think once I can get S-off it'll be to the point I can figure it out. I had used CM10.1 on the cappy and loved it, but I've heard sence 5 is amazing, so I'll probably just try a bunch of them.

[Q] Back to Sense from CM 10.2

Before i ask my question, I searched for the answer i promise. As you can see by my few posts, i usually find my answer by searching. I am stumped and i think it is because i am not sure i am searching the right string of words....
I recently got a replacement DNA. Unlocked and rooted like the last phone through adb with revone and then pushed recovery and SU. Took my first jump to a non-sense rom, and pulled a nightly for CM 10.2 . It works great, and I am enjoying the Rom, but my data drops in and out. I flashed and wiped and flashed again, and still had the same issues. I am going to go back to a sense Rom for a while until some things are hammered out....
My question.....
I remember reading something about issues going back from CM 10 to Sense because of the "0" folder. If i want to go back to completely stock sense or a sense rom, if memory serves me right, it IS NOT as easy as loading Rom and flashing because of "0" folder correct? I accidentally deleted my Nandroid. If i have to wipe the SD card or anything it's no big deal as the phone has nothing of importance on it. I am just looking for the right steps to get back to a sense rom.
Thanks for the help as always!
As long as you flash a 4.2 Sense rom, you should be just fine.

I've flashed back to sense a couple times. Just remember to pull the things you want off /sdcard/ before you wipe everything.
If you have ADB set up plug in your phone and type
adb pull /sdcard/ C:\<username \Desktop\
or wherever you want to keep it.

I'd recommend viper(sense 4+) for a daily driver. You may want to wait for official sense 5, because some of the sense 5 ROMs have been abandoned. It's supposed to come out this month.

GPE? Also, Flyhalf's unnoficial CM shouldn't have any issues with data if you're wanting to stay on CM, and only has issues with GPS. Otherwise I'd suggest AOKP. Its been pretty solid for me since the 8/3 build, and TheDanimal said there may be new build up this weekend.
EDIT: Google Play Edition. Herp derp.

haha... I actually jumped on the GPE and haven't looked back. It's so smooth. No big issues for me so far, so i will hang out for a while with it and wait for something good to come along or better. 4.3 seems to be in the works for the GPE.

It's beginning to look alot like Nexus

This device is so underrated and is now becoming a real beast in the dev support community. We have AOKP, CM 10.2, Clean, Mallidus, Vanir AOSP, roms with more development showing up everyday. It may not be an offical "nexus" device, but with LOKI and root, it's beginning to feel that way. I came from the GNex and I remember the support that device got. I made the right choice!!
Yessir!!!! Let the good times roll
I am going to go and thanks all the Dev for coming here. =)

We now have Paranoid Android too It may not be a nexus, but since there's no chance of a nexus 5 on Verizon, I don't think I will miss it that much. The builds will soon get stable and we will be able to enjoy this device whether on a stock rom or an aosp one.

What!? I think you are confused or maybe I misunderstand you. Vanir is AOSP and while AOKP may share many hardware repos I'm not sure I'd consider is CM based especially since the whole caf debacle. And by stock you mean based off LG ROM?
Many of the devs worked tirelessly together to bring these to fruition at the same time. I dont think any one dev or team can take credit.

It is rather odd. Coming from previous devices on Verizon, the tmo variants were always one of the first to get aosp builds going. It feels good to be on the leading end this time around but I know how you feel. I'm sure development for it will pick up soon.
Being from Europe and all I can't quite see why there are three (?) American models? What's the difference between the Verizon, att and tmobile versions?

There are actually 4 American models. Sprint currently doesn't have their section yet. It's just the sad way things are done over here. Carriers like to lock in their customers and each tends to offer a slightly different variant. Whether that be the slight difference in physical look or the type of radios included for a GSM or CDMA carrier, American carriers like to limit customer options.

LG G2/Nexus5 hardware rom compatibility ?

In the future, will it be possible to extract Nexus5 rom/updates and apply them directly to G2 ?
Just asking, because G2 and Nexus are sharing a lot of same hardware.
It'll probably be easier to port Nexus5 rom, instead of having a lot of work on a common 10.2CM ?

Its fairly easy to port ROMS from Nexus 5. However reading log cats is the main thing here. Thankfully most people can't read log cats so it stops the noobs flood the place with terrible ports. To answer your question yes it can.

there is a guy with a video on youtube that says he has files to download to the g2 to make it a virtual nexus 5. he demos it and says the files are in the description but I did not see them there. Yea the Optimus G Pro already received 4.4 based off the N4. I'm suprised we haven't got 4.4 based off the N5 yet. Perhaps the devs are still getting comfortable with the new hardware.
Real good to know about the N5/G2 ease of porting. I'm particularly curious about the kernels and how similar they are to one another. Moving forward with newer versions of Android, the kernels are the important thing.
I'm hoping it'll be easier to port roms over. The only concern I have is whether or not they'd work with the VZW version. Not sure if you could use the RIL from the G2 or a new file from scratch would have to be made to be able to get working data.
