*RESOLVED*
ive searched to no prevail. id like to start developing apps but am having issues getting the environment set up. i have the jdk properly installed.
issue 1 (main \ major ):
ive installed the android sdk from multiple sources, but when i try to start sdk tools, the command prompt flashes/ opens briefly and i get this message:
"Failed to execute tools\android.bat:
The system cannot find the file specified."
do i need to change a PATH variable or something...
issue 2:
i cannot get eclipse to run. when i try to open the exe file ( because there is no short cut icon...?) it gives a message about not finding a companion library... ive try to change the properties in the file that is supposed to fix it, but it was already set the way its supposed to be. this is not major as i can use a different IDE.
so im completely lost as to th sdk tool. any help would be appreciated!
edit:
i just tried adding the file path to the android sdk ( PATH variable) and it still did not work... :/
i also just tried start the android, bat file and the cmd promt flashes briefly saying somthing about xcopy is not an operable command...etc couldnt read all of it...
btw im on windows 7 home premium

Check if this can help you.
Actually, you don't need to configure environment variables. You only need to install Java SE, and Eclipse and Android SDK should work fine.

well eclipse wont install either, it cant find some companion library.all i curently have is the java jdk and an IDE called intelliJ idea or something like that, nothing else will install...i had to add an environmental variable to get the java jdk to work on cmd. if you could give links to any files your using that would be of help. , that is if your on windows 7

Word of caution
I hate to discourage anyone from following their hearts desires especially when it comes to software development. But I wanted to share some advice with you coming from an experienced software engineer. I've been developing software for over 15 years. My experience comes mainly from developing Windows desktop applications in C/C++. I've also been developing software using Java for several years so I'm by no means new to Java technology or development tools.
I've only recently started to develop for the Android platform. It didn't take me long to get started (i.e. get the development environment setup and start developing using the AVD manager) but as I dig into it I'm finding that the Android platform has become very much like developing Windows applications which is interesting to find because I really haven't done a lot of user interface development using Java. In the past my Java development projects have always been more back end server integration related to App Servers and database integration (i.e. Apache/Tomcat, JSP, Oracle, etc.).
I have seen user interface development libraries in Java such as Swing in the past but haven't had a real need for them. So to tell you the truth I can't say how much better or worse the Android SDK user interface libraries are than the traditional JDK 1.4 libraries.
All of this is to say that when I say this you know it's coming from someone that isn't just learning how to program. My advice to you is that if you haven't done much Java development in the past that Android development is not the place to start. You might want to start with the basics first like just setting up a simple Java program and learning the technology first before you jump head long into something.
I've done that more times than I can count in my long career and I can tell you from experience it's the surest way to fail before you get started.
thanks but...

i tried to use those files, but still the same problem, they wont launch/ install...in your post it says to launch them from the folder, correct...? the problem is, THEY WONT LAUNCH AT ALL...no UI for anything, just a quick flash of the cmd window for both of them and a pop up window for eclipse...

First. DELETE EVERYTHING FROM DOWNLOADED FILES TO EXTRACTED FILE GET RID OF ALL OF IT then clear trash can.
THen ensure the JDK is successfully installed by opening command prompt and typing "java -version" you should have build 1.7 or higher. If not, you may download it here http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/java/javase/downloads/jdk-7u4-downloads-1591156.html
Download this http://developer.android.com/sdk/index.html and pick the one that has "Recommended" next to it.
after you have that downloaded. FOLLOW THE STEPS BELOW TO A T! NO SHORTCUTS WHAT SO EVER!
Then once everything is downloaded. simply FOLLOW ME again TO A T! and if you follow that you should get everything working. And seriously, FOLLOW IT TO A T! do not take shortcuts do not try to do more than one thing at a time just take it step by step. I had no problems getting it up and running by following that last link.
Hope that helps and BE PATIENT you will get to play around soon enough

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2419456
whenever i try to drag and drop the Genymotion Arm translation V1.1 inside the Genymotion device ( currently using 4.4.2) it tells me "Copy of file(s) with success to: /sdcard/Download/" rather then telling me "Genymotion Arm Translation V1.1 Has been flashed successfully. You might need to reboot your virtual device..."
Then I did follow all the steps and dragged and dropped the APK file and gives me this "An error occurred while deploying a file.
INSTALL_FAILED_CPU_ABI_INCOMPATIBLE"
There is no way I can get this thing working... I have already downloaded the SDK & ADB files from Android website, i have a feeling that the file "System-Images" in side the SDK folder is missing. Android does not give that anymore and maybe that is the problem its causing my files not being able to flash inside the Genymotion Device.
Same thing for the Gapps-Jb ( file 4.4 , 4.3) doesn't matter i tried both. It just tells me "Copy of file(s) with success to: /sdcard/Download/" as it should be saying " .. has been flashed successfully..."
I'm trying to get APK of Simpsons tapped out work, but there is no way... Anyone who can help would be great... Thanks
Q&A for [MOD] [root] [CHUWI] [Vi7]
Some developers prefer that questions remain separate from their main development thread to help keep things organized. Placing your question within this thread will increase its chances of being answered by a member of the community or by the developer.
Before posting, please use the forum search and read through the discussion thread for [MOD] [root] [CHUWI] [Vi7]. If you can't find an answer, post it here, being sure to give as much information as possible (firmware version, steps to reproduce, logcat if available) so that you can get help.

I am trying too to root this Chuwi... With the 1st attachment, it was created a temp file in "0" space. With the new attachment, its created in tmp in sdcard1. Does this stay correct in my case? Thanks in advance.
Rom
Hi!
If possible please upload anywhere the original chuwi Vi7 rom.
Thanks!
Hi,
Yes, there is a 0 byte file created (that is what the touch command does)
This is so that custom recoveries can check for the presence of the file and then ´know´ the phablet is rooted.
Vi7 can not switch wify on
dear
i am VI7 seller

they need to brush teir tablet
but i just do not knwo how to brush it
would you give me a instrunction ?
Hi,
I just wanted to let you know that I made a similar rooting procedure and script for the Chuwi Vi7. I got good results using SuperSU instead of Kingoroot.
I posted it on this Github repository:
Code:
https://github.com/Pacien/vi7-root
thanks for your contribution, cleaner coding than mine
Just 2 observations...
1) you do not verify that remount worked
2) line 39
rm /system/bin/install-recovery.sh
you loose the original patch command in the file
should be instead:
mv /system/bin/install-recovery.sh /system/etc/install-recovery-2.sh
This way it will still be loaded.
Also ... why do you ask to install superSU on data when the script is installing it on system?

I actually do make a backup copy of this file on line 38, naming it `install-recovery.sh.bckp`.
I'll change the script to name it in the way you mentioned so that it will still be loaded.

In fact I did not have realized that the APKs put in `/system/app` would be automatically extracted x)
The format is
/system/app/appname/appname.apk
(used to be different in older android builds)
Now the next challenge is to unlock the bootloader so a custom recovery can be put together with a Vi7 specific fstab.recovery
Personally I will start once I get my hands on a Vi7 with a working touch screen

I registered on this site just to say a big THANK you for this.
I've never touched android devices before, and promptly bricked this tablet. your guide to reflashing it saved me.
One note that I had to do to get it to flash, was fastboot oem lock. It will not work unlocked. Also, it still took under 30 seconds to flash correctly for me, so having that as a check probably isn't valid for everyone.
Chuwi VI7 Gapps not present
Hi,
Recently i have bought a Chuwi Vi7 Tab from Aliexpress.
On making it on , i didn't found Gapps ,which is a basic app for mobile phones and Tab .
I tried multiple times of installing Gapps but its of no use.
Please help.
Subho
At 1st boot there are no Gapps, but - if you check the 'Update...' tab in Settings - you'll see there's an update firmware available. If you proceed to install the update, then you'll have the Play Store...
At least, that was my case.

Thanks for your reply.
Are you referring to the update which is there inside settings
Settings ---> About phone --> system update.
If it is the same , i already have tried but its showing me no new update available.
If you are referring of some other update then please specify.
Do you have the update stored in your TAB , in that case if you can upload the same ,

Yes, I' m reffering to that one.
I'll specify the version I installed the moment I arrive home...
The current version I have on my Vi7 is:
CW-Vi7-20150724-1900
Quick question: how many partitions and what size each of them has?
On mine there's only one partition - Internal storage - with some 3.6Gb (after installing a few GPS apps only 1.5Gb free).
I'm pretty intrigued as my other tablet - a Pipo S1 Pro - with similar features has two partitions: a 2Gb Internal storage (on which apps are installed) and a 4.5Gb NAND flash (at my discretion).

When you have received the Tablet, was it pre-loaded with Gapps and other softwares.
As my Tablet is not having any of the important software.
When I received the tablet, there was no Gapps present (not even PlayStore). I had no possibility of adding a Google account to the tablet (only other mail account or Exchange account). I downloaded a playstore apk, installed it, but couldn't make it work.
Then I searched for updates, found the update mentioned above, installed it and added Google account (it was now possible); concerning Gapps, only Play Store was installed as part of the new update (if I remember correctly)...

In the 1st post towards the bottom there is now a mega link with a full rom to flash that is NOT the crane but the Chuwi v1.1 with gapps installed
I'm sorry if this is the wrong thread but it seems this is the only place to ask.
Is it possible to save/move apps to a SD card? i can't find any option to do so and app2sd report this tablet doesn't support. not rooted and stock
Part I: description on this ChuWi vi7 tablet with 1GB RAM and 8GB flash.
Intel x3-C3230RK (j.v. with Rochip built by 28nm TSMC fab, has 2x 512KB L2 cache) SoFIA
which runs 32-bit Android 5.1.1.
Quad Core CPU is clocked at 416-900MHz (728MHz nominal) is a bit weak (Intel data brief says it's 1.2GHz x 4): GeekBench3 321 & 956.
I think the tablet is downgraded for thermal throttling (plastic case, not metal.) Suspect SDP is somwhere in between 2-3W.
GPU is ARM Mali450 4-core clocked at 600MHz which Antutu gives high score (at 1280x600 LCD resolution.) It should be good at 1080p (not on this tablet.)
It has 3-axis accelerator, USB OTG, GPS and single SIM slot. Proximity sensor seems to be emulated by touch screen multi-point. Li-Ion is on low capacity (~2500mAh) side.
This tablet when first received from China, there is no Google Play Store nor rooted. After performing phone system update, Google Play now works.

Part II Rooting and mishaps
Rooting is difficult.
Find adb 1.0.32 (exact version needed) and install in a Windows PC (C:\adb).
Install Intel Android device driver first, then (Volume up then plug-in the USB, wait for 15 seconds.) Wait until in Device Manager the Vi7 device is recognized as the Intel Android Device.
At the same time, the tablet screen should show the Android robot with a minimal menu.
I transferred the files (unzipped, from main thread, first post) and
Using XDA vi7root script indeed gained the root.
However, I immediately found the Play Store problem, can't install any app (error 504) nor the existing apps can be updated.
---------- Post added at 01:39 AM ---------- Previous post was at 01:24 AM ----------
Hope this could help:
After Intel Inside flash screen,
It shows one additional screen right before the Home screen showing up.
Android is starting...

Is there a way to install Google Play app on an Android 6.0 (Marshmallow) AVD?
I have found the Open Gapps for Android 6 here:
https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=24269982087008996
To install them you need to boot into Recovery mode and install that zip file, but
an emulator does not have a recovery partition, so the steps target the case of a
device.
Do you know, how I can do the same for the emulator? I tried to unzip the file and
put the 4 APKs described here (for Android version 5):
http://www.flinkd.org/2015/02/installing-google-play-on-the-android-emulator-api-21-lollipop/
but after rebooting the emulator, although the icon of Google Play appears in the launcher,
when I tap on it, then the emulator crashes with some fatal exceptions in logcat.
I tried to install the packages one at a time, rebooting the emulator after each installation,
and found out that the crash happens after installing the Phonesky.apk no matter if you
click on the Google Play icon.
If someone can help me on this it would be very appreciated.
Thank you,
Thanos
