i don't use these programms

also link2sd
I would also be interested in making link2sd work, I think the problem might be the kernel not supporting it. As of the rest I think the Vimiro rom is amazing, thanks for your work!

For link2sd I need new ext 4 partition?
---------- Post added at 09:13 PM ---------- Previous post was at 09:12 PM ----------
I will restore modules folder and will upload test ROM. But not today

Yes, you need an ext2 or ext3 or ext4 partition on your sd card. I read that ext2 performs better than ext4 on mobile devices.

Well, it can be a tricky operation sometimes, although I managed to do it a couple of times. I used gparted on Arch linux to perform partitioning

Yes I can understand, it would take forever...I got an error when I attempted to partition my sd card through twrp recovery, so that's why I did it on my laptop. I read that if you chose ext2 rather than ext4 for it has more write/read speed, but I don't remember really the reason, I would have to google it again

I use it.. Look here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=55718659

Using S2E from market?

Hey guys! Gonna try using S2E from the market to move my apps to ext partition. But before that,do I have to flash Darktremor apps2sd and partition my sd card? The last time I partitioned it,I used a 1GB partition.

Actually I'm currently on Cyanogenmod and I want to try CyanogenMMatt instead! So that means after I wipe data from the rom,I flash the new rom's zip file,I don't flash DT but just partition the sd card and I'm good to go and to also use S2E??
Anyone to help me??
With what? You partition the card, install the thing from market and configure it via GUI. What help you need with that?!

Sigh. Partitioning and formatting the SD card wipes everything on the card. No need to wipe it separately.

[Q] Dalvik Cache

Just rooted a Samsung Gravity Smart. I used the free Titanium Backup to remove bloat. Unfortunately it did not clear enough internal memory on this crappy phone. I was told that I needed to get the Pro Titanium instead because it lets you clear the Dalvik Cache. They said that will open up tons of internal memory.
Is this true and is it safe? Also, is buying the Pro the only way to do it? I am unemployed and need to watch every dollar.
HELP
no. you can clear the dalvik cache from recovery but it will rebuild it self when phone boots, the first boot after clearing the cache is slow so dont worry, you may wanna take a look at some app2sd or custom mdt
Just so I am clear. How do I clear it from recovery? Or do u mean I do it with the paid version of Titanium?
Are you using ClockworkMod recovery?

like already mentioned, you can clear it by titanium our cwm recovery BUT it's gonna get rebuild again.
If your ROM support app2ext than moving the dalvik cache to the ext will clear up huge amount of internal storage.
Also moving dalvik will NOT give you more system space.
Just rooted. There are no roms for the gravity smart as far as I know. I rooted it to clear bloat because the internal memory is so small. I was told that clearing the Dalvik Cache would open up a bunch of internal memory for me. I hate dangling at around 18mb to 20mb.

Thanks so much. Just to clarify, once it rebuilds does all the cleared memory come back or only the memory allotted to the apps not removed. I guess what I am asking is "is it worth buying Titanium Pro to get to clear the Dalvik".
Sorry but I am a noob to rooting and there are no roms for my phone yet.

It is worth the price, You can backup your apps you can remove bloatware and also freeze things that can not be removed so that they can not launch and use resorces. Plus when a rom does become available for your device you can restore all your apps and contacts with this program. So it is worth the price. I hope that this has helped you. Enjoy your device,
Moving dalvik cache
Hello,
I have a question about this tutorial.
Do I need a special partition - that is formatted in ext - on my microsd to move the dalvik cache?
Thanks in advance for your answers.

Yes, you need it. The partition will not be seen when you plug in into windows based computer. And you are not allowed to remove SD without completely shut down.

Depends on you. If you are a heavy user, use 512mb. I used to use 1.1gb in my wildfire.
Ext3 is faster than 2. Ext2 can't mount when booted up.
Nexus s is using ext 4, it is even faster, but I don't think it will work with you. But you can covert your files from ext3 to 4 to get better speed after that

Okay, now I have a 512 MB ext3 partition on my microsd. How do I move the dalvik cache with this tutorial now? Can I do it with Windows xp or do I need Linux for that? Or in other words: was this tutorial written for use with Windows?

Easy set up.
How easy?
Flash the zip, go terminal emulator, type in as follow
Su
A2sd cachesd
It will start to move your cache. But please make a backup of your phone before anything goes wrong. Just restore your backup if it has problem.
Good luck

How do I format internal SD?

Hi
I have a huge problem.
Sms/mms app won't run. It crashes after boot and any time I try to start it.
I have made several clean installations of stock ROM with no result. Including wiping everything of course.
But I can't figure out how to format the internal SD. There's files left there no matter what I do.
How do I make a true format so I can start over from scratch?

Probably files whose path gets rebuilt after a wipe, like DCIM.
In twrp recovery you have in wipe menu options to wipe internal sdcard, or format data completely, including /data/media (= sdcard).

Formatting internal SD card?

Hi, I'm using the Dorimanx Kernel along with the Ressurection Remix ROM and I was wondering, can I format my internal sd card in any way? The latest version has bugged the storage opting in the settings so I can't possibly manage this that way.

When you say format internal storage are you referring to wiping it via rom or recovery?
If recovery have you tried another kernel?
If rom them why not change rom version??
By the way the word you was looking for was "pardon".

Well your internal SD is partitioned. When you wipe data/factory reset teh system partition is returned to default. You could then wipe the card you want to format when mounted via USB in Windows, all needed files would be re-created on fist boot of factory reset system afaik.
Remember to backup what you want to keep like photos/efs backup folder etc etc.
Reboot in recovery, go into "mounts and storage" menu and format the internal SD card.

Nice, thanks! Will this remove any files related to my rom & kernel?
Will this remove any of my important files and will I have to install the rom all over again? Or am I good to go?
Nope, but all your data and settings will be gone. It's like you started your phone for the first time.
