All of a sudden Google voice is not responding verbally with responses. I get links to web pages in my browser, but no verbal reply. I checked my Google voice settings and "Speech Output" is set to "ON". I am using Nova Pro launcher, if that matters. Any suggestions on how I can get this to work properly again?
Thanks
Okay, verify you've checked the obvious.
Media volume is up?
Phones been rebooted?
Cleared cache on Google search app?

I have the Vibrant with the recent rom of Nero v5. (froyo 2.2).I have been unable to place a call to any of my contacts on my phone using the google voice search widget. I'm able to do other voice searches like "navigate to" or even "call to Johnny pizzeria (online search)." But for some reason it doesn't seem to even try to look in contacts or phone area. Funny thing is that if I'm in my contacts list then select the little mic to do a voice search within the contacts it works fine! From what i remember, it worked fine with I was running the Tmobile stock rom 2.1. Another thing, when i reinstalled google search from the market, it didn't give me an option to search in phone, only contacts, web and apps. But I made sure everything was checked under searcheable items. Any thoughts or ideas why this is happening? Nero v.5?
thanks in advance.
things i've done already:
I've made sure to mark on everything on the search options (searcheable items)
rebooted
reinstalled google search from the market.
Got my GT today and I am trying to sync it with my Google Music library. The Music app it ships with has no "Settings" menu and no mention of "Google Music Beta".
So I'm assuming that there is an update available. Thing is, I'm not in the US so I think this is stopping me from finding Google Music in the Market.
On my phone, market enabler - job done. How do I do the same on honeycomb? Or have I missing something.
Thanks
Try this:
Settings->Application->music->clear data
Reopen Google Music.
So long as you have the beta invite you should be good.
Just tried that and it's sill the same. On the top right menu button in Music all I have is "Hide Now playing Bar", "Shuffle All" and "Help" no settings option.
For the record I am running music version 3.0.
Should I not have to authorize Music with my Google account first? This is how I done it on my phone. /confused
What worked for me was the following:
1. Go to Settings | Privacy and uncheck "Automatic restore"
2. Uninstall Music (or uninstall updates if that is the only option given).
3. Reboot.
4. Reinstall Music from the Market.
hmm, check your google account in Accounts & Sync to see if there's a google music option.
Also, and this is a long shot, any chance you already have 8 devices hooked up to google music?
I'm on v3.0.1.339 not sure if that makes a difference though

Click to collapse
You don't get the Music sync to appear in Accounts until you associate the Music app with your account. And you can't do that until you have the correct version of Music installed.
Just got an apk for Music 3.0.1.339 and that seems to have done the trick. Shame I can't just update it from the market using market enabler or similar.
Hi,
Trying to set my default Bluetooth voice search to Google Voice search.
1. settings - voice input - default set to google. (only options google and vlingo)
2. default apps cleared
3. When activating voice search, under " Complete Action Using" I only have 3 options. Vlingo, Vlingo in car, and Voice Commands. Google is not listed.
I have uninstalled Google Voice Search and reinstalled it to no avail.
4.5.91
2.3.4
No roms, Proms
Any ideas?
Thanks!

I use Google assistant on my Android on a daily basis, with the tap of a button - to get directions, make a phone call, send a text, open an app, etc. However, my 10-yr-old son has figured out that he can bypass my password-protected browser apps (such as Chrome) by doing web/video searches directly on Google assistant. For reasons that I won't get into here, it is imperative that I prevent his unauthorized access to the internet. However, I don't wish to bury Google assistant under a password or a lock screen, on account of how often I use it for all sorts of other stuff. IS THERE A WAY TO DISABLE WEB SEARCHES FROM THE GOOGLE APP, OR TO FORCE THE APP TO DEFER TO THE CHROME APP FOR THOSE SEARCHES?
I do have a rooted device, if that helps.
I am having the same issue with the Cortana assistant app on my Android as well. If I could get either Cortana or Google Assistant to block web searches, I'd be happy.
Just joined Google Fi. Is there any way to add "messages" to the google apps button?
Title says it all. I just left Google Voice for Google Fi and ported my GV number over.
Minor thing, but I miss having the function in gmail when I click on the google apps, then google voice, then it launches to web interface. I can't seem to find a similar setup for the messages for web app. Does this exist?
I realize I'm just lazy, but would be nice to have!
