[Q] Youtube videos pixelated/low FPS - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi, i bought an iWing WTD2 smartphone, and all goes smooth except when watching videos on youtube.
It looks pixelated, and low frames per second, like it's not hardware accelerated, like when you try to view a video on your computer without the graphics drivers.
I tried to force GPU aceleration on 2D surfaces, on the developer settings but it doesn't fix it.
Any hints?
Sorry for my english, and sorry for giving a question on my first post here

Clipped white with videos outside flash

Sorry if this has already been reported by I tried all kind of searches and nothing comes up, but I am really surprised that I did not see anyone report this...
Here is what I found: when playing videos in apps like the Youtube App, Vimeo App or the Android embedded video player in the browser, the whites are clipped, meaning the bright parts of the image become completely white and all details are lost.
I verified this by playing the same video in both the Youtube app and then in the flash player on youtube site in the stock browser (by requesting the desktop version of the page). Same test with Vimeo app, same result. When played in the flash player, the contrast is fine and the bright parts are not blown out.
This is really annoying, all videos look way too contrasty and bright ! Even when setting the screen brightness to minimum the same thing happens, no matter what power mode I choose. Seems to be a problem with the Hardware Video codecs maybe ?

I don't have this issue but for some reason YouTube videos barely work on many prime. It plays for 2 seconds then buffers its not even a wifi issue because my wifi is fine i noticed my partners touchpad w/ ICS wont even play these videos as well. Is YouTube not compatible with ICS?
Sent from my Transformer Prime TF201 using xda premium
Me too!!! My prime arrive Friday and the first thing I do was the update. Then i won't play any video from stock or other browser. Just a white or gray screen appears.

Browsing embedded video issues

Hey guys,
Got my Prime 3 days ago, everything is working as expected (Amazing product) except one slight problem.
I've been trying to watch embedded video in the stock browser and I seem to be having issues. I'm using stock browser, with the latest flash player installed.
When I get to the video, the screen shows blank and I see in both screen sides a 1 centimeter of distorted colors, which seems to be part of the video itself, but not organized. In full screen view I just see it blank.
When I refresh sometime I actually see the video frozen on some image.
I refresh, switch quality for dozens of times before I get a normal video.
Could someone test the following streaming website for me? mobafire.com/streams (It's League Of Legends game streaming)
(I'm showing as a new user so I couldn't get the link itself posted yet, just add www in the beginning please)
Just choose any stream there, there are around 10 always.
I want to understand if it's only happening on my prime.
Thanks in advance.
Guy?
Anyone encountered this behavior? Could anyone take a minute or two to test the video I mentioned above on his prime?
yes this week end i would watch live soccer on a website with flashplayer
the video was very laggy no possible to pu on full screen the screen was blank
adobe flashplayer was not very good on ics
Also experienced this on both stock browser and Dolphin HD.
One thing I've noticed is that if the page has just one embedded video, no problemo. Plays perfect. Also, don't try to zoom in on the video until after the video starts playing.
But when you have more than one embedded video, it has serious audio sync and loading issues. Oh and trying to full-screen from anything BUT the youtube app will give you terrible results.
I'll give it a shot to try and wait until the stream already starts playing before I fullscreen, but I doubt if it will change anything...
No I don't mean fullscreen, I mean zoom. Fullscreen will always fail miserably. Zoom, yannow, screen-pinching, can get you pretty close to fullscreen.
I see, I'll give it a shot thanks
Can someone that has all video working correctly give the streaming above a shot? I'm particularly interested to know how long, if any it takes you to get a normally working stream.
I have problems watching embedded youtube videos on the stock ICS browser. My experience... If I click play on the video, only the sound plays and the video doesn't appear. If I refresh the browser page, it always seems to work the second go around with no issue.
Not sure why it doesn't load correctly the first time around.

[Q] Does your Xperia tablet Z play HFR (high frame rate) clips properly?

Hi
I have a Xperia tablet z with android 4.2.2 , with the latest mxplayer and armv7 neon codec pack installed. All default settings.
I have downloaded some HFR video files (60 fps, 48 fps etc) locally but I cannot play these hfr video clips. Example: The Hobbit trailer at 48fps.
Content from here: http://www.hfrmovies.com in the download examples section.
Anyone else have issues? The playback was choppy and many sections were cutoff.
Thanks for any help and advice...

I have downloaded the video (An Unnexpected Journey, High Quality) and I will transfer them to my XTZ soon (internet speed isn't helping to stream) and give an feedback
The samples showing the 24 fps vs 60 fps runs smooth after the devices kinda buildthe cache for them. The video I mentioned earlier, skips quite a lot, the audio sometimes stops and comes back again later, and the video when isn't skipping, runs a bit in slow mo.

That's the same kind of issues I am seeing.
I cannot tell if it was caused by hw limitations or the mxplayer. I did try to muck around with settings and found that sw decoding gave slightly better results.... not a whole lot better tho...
Which player are you using?

MXPlayer also. Even the Sony movie app was able to reproduce well the short 60fps bike video I told you, but no luck with the movie trailer...
The best would be to ask someone with a S600 and S800 powered device to run those videos.

[POLL/Discussion]How has playback of 1080p h.264 10bit video been for you?

On a forum I'm a member off, a discussion started about many phones today that may struggle with this type of video content including importantly, the Z2.
Now I watch a fair bit of anime on my phone and a lot of it is encoded in this profile but I often watch 720p encodes and these are prefect on the Z2 as for 1080p videos I've only watched a couple but these were very smooth as well but I just want to see what other people's results maybe.
Just to be clear I am referring to 10bit encodes, if they were 8bit then it would be hardware decoded. The profile for 10bit encodes is also known as Hi10P.
MOD EDIT
I have changed the title of the thread as it seems you are trying to start a discussion. If you did mean to ask a question then Q&A is the correct place for it.
 @gregbradley
For 720p it's very smooth, no problem at all. :good:
For 1080p it may lag/stutter a bit in some scenes (usually the fast action scenes). But it's fairly smooth most of the time and very watchable.
I've tried a 720p h.265 video too, and it's smooth ^^;
I'm using MX Player.
I would have to check which one are 10-bit. But so far no problems using BS player and a Synology NAS. Will check when I get home.
I have a z2 and yes i agree with you ravdo 1080p movies some action scenes lag and stuttering i dont know why becasue samsung s3 s4 s5 was perfect on 1080p videos no lag and stutter i dont know why z2 does and also z2 plays 4k videos so interesting anyone can explain why or how solve this problem?

YouTube video judder

Got the tab s6 yesterday and having an issue while using YouTube. When playing the video at low res 360p or lower the right side of the video has a lot of judder as if the refresh rate is not syncing up. Happens when rotating to landscape. It only does that in the video itself, not on any other part of the screen. Watching same quality video using a different app, MX player, does not produce the same effect. Just wondering if it's the YouTube app or the tablet itself. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Ended up exchanging the unit at BB. Same thing is happening. To reproduce is you have to have all the animations turned off in the dev options. Although it went away after I enabled msaa 4x and force gpu rendering turned on. So if you have animations off it'll give you a stuffer effect on one side of the screen.
That is not my case, i use YouTube Vanced! No ads, HD and 1440 video playing. Uploading a test video.
