So on my kindle i had everything installed to have the play store working and i got the play store to work and i got the youtube app to work. And so what happened was i deleted the youtube app and installed the newest version and when i opened youtube it gave me the google play services error, but the play store itself still worked.
So what i did was i uninstalled all the google account manager, google services frame work, etc.
And tried to fix the youtube issue by reinstalling all of those things. I started by installing google account manager, and then i rebooted it to install the next thing. Only, when it started up i could unlock the device, but none of the apps would load. So i did a stupid thing and factory reset it, which i think got rid of the root.
I have no idea what to do. I couldn't find any thread about this.
The notificaton bar works and the navigaton buttons show up on the side. So i can get to settings, but the carousel and home screen won't load after i unlock it

Sorry, I missed that you did hard reset. without root I think i can do nothing.
Only way is update to 13.4.1..1 http://forum.xda-developers.com/kindle-fire-hdx/general/update-1314-4-1-1-probably-sangria-t2901813 (if you can go to settings) and lose root. Of course if your devices HDX 7.

Sorry. English isn't my native language so I don't understand your question.
I wrote that if you upgrade to 13.4.1.1 you will not be able to obtain root.

Yes. but how would i install it?
you wrote ""So i can get to settings, ", what difficulties after that?
Can you get into Settings - Device - System Updates?
nevermind. so i followed the instructions and put the update into the internal storage folder but when i went into system updates on my kindle the box said "check now" instead of "update" so when i tap check now it says "last update failed".

Try to turn off wifi and reboot.
You should see that your device has found update, no more variants.
I'll try it again after school. What would I do next if I get the error again?
I have no idea. This is one variant. if tablet do not found update - this says about broken symlinks for example or something else that anyway do not fix without root.
btw check your root status:
adb shell
su

I didn't really understand any of that. What is a broken symlink? And I don't think I'm rooted because I factory reset it.
Also, how could I check root status and what would be the purpose?
Okey. You not rooted now, so do not pay attention.
Your one method to get working device is update firmware.
In way that I described.
If you do not see "update" button after pulling file - sorry. no other idea.
So basically, if this doesn't work I'm screwed?
Anyone else got any ideas?

You don't say if you are unlocked and have a recovery?
Doing a factory reset will not bring back deleted apps as it only wipes the cache etc.
Re installing should have brought them apps back but I don't know how you are tying to re install.. Can you give a little bit more information on what I have asked please.

You will not be able to just install it. You will have to copy it into system/app folder using a file manager that has root support like es file explorer or root explorer.
Here is the file from the new JB update.

GO to settings-apps and go to "all"
Scroll down to Google play services and google play store and force stop both and clear data and cache for both.

Any reason why you can't unlock the device and install a recovery so you can install custom roms? or are you trying to keep your warranty intact ?
I'm also not sure why you can't just do part 3 of the instructions you followed in the original post to put jellybean back on again. ( then again you have edited so many files this might not be advisable.)

I'm in need of some kinda urgent help and advice regarding a phone i have just purchased for my mother.
I've bought her a cheap Daxian TD888 on the MTK6589 chipset and i'm afraid i have been a silly boy and not done my research before purchasing - I was under the impression that it came with the Play Store installed etc and sadly, it comes with a hard to use chinese ROM.
Mothers being mothers, mine isn't anywhere near tech/phone friendly and this is her first smartphone (upgrade from a 6 year old Nokia/symbian brick) so i was wanting to get her onto a nice and simple stock android 4.1 or 4.2 or even a CMxx that i can just help her along with.
After some very panic based searching today, i'm not seeing much that can help me... infact... nothing regarding this phone at all.
So... have I been a dumbass and bought her a lemon or is there anyone that can help me out with advice or pointers on how to get a normal android ROM on this thing?
I'm not massively experienced with rooting but have managed it a couple fo times in the past on my old Nexus One.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I could probably help you get it rooted and that would allow you to install Play store on it as well as delete any chinese apps that sometimes come on the MT65XX devices if interested. As far as the rom goes, is there not an option in settings to change language to English? I have bought a few MediaTek devices directly from china, when I received the phone it had english on it already but when I reset the phones I would have to go into Settings and change chinese language back to english.
Motochopper should root your phone:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2252248
One thing with these phones is that the android version is not always what is shown in Settings > About phone. Try using this tool from the first post of this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2160490&styleid=18
make sure you enable USB debugging on your phone first and it will help tell which version of android you are really running. If kernel say 2.6.xx you are on GB 2.3, if it is 3.0.xx then you are on ICS and if it says 3.4.xx then you are JB. I bought a MT6575 that said android version 4.0 in settings, it said gingerbread 2.2 on the box (I know 2.2 is Froyo), then on bottom of box it said Froyo 2.2!
Thanks Klown80 -
I'm just into work now so I'll have to hook it up to my own PC and root when i get home later... i'm just in full on panic mode over this (its a time sensitive issue as she's due to be in hospital for an extended period and i want to get this right for her before then)
Regarding the language settings in the current/stock rom, it has english US selected and while a lot of the language is in english, pretty much ALL popup dialogs are in chinese and the browser is unusable (all chinese text based) so... hence the panic.
I was (foolishly) thinking it would just be a simple enough flash to CM or stock android and hey presto - full english ROM.
I hate it when i don't do my homework first.
So... you recommend the root first, check exact android version number and go from there?
Even if it turns out to be an older 2.1/2.2/whatever version, i'd be happy enough to get something stock and full english based on there if its possible.
As she's never had a smart phone, it will all seem super smooth and flashy to her anyway.

Every time i open the play store app, it just closes again.
Any suggestions on where i might be going wrong?

Sounds like you need to update the binary then, if it allows you. If not then the root did not correctly root your device and we will have to go back a step and get that fixed first. As for Play Store, it usually takes more than just the Play.apk file to put Play Store on your device if it did not come with it stock. You also need (I am going off top of my head, I can give you exact names later) Google services framework.apk, Google login services.apk, Google Play services.apk. You need to have root to to this because you will need to move the vending.apk to /system folder and possibly change permissions on the apk before you install it. Once we can confirm root I can help you install a working Play Store if you like.

I've no idea how to update the binary so I guess i'm looking at a re-root.
I have had the usual issues of drivers not wanting to work (the Motochopper root process getting stuck at the daemon starting point) but I've manged to get the process to work twice so far.
(I've tried 4 different driver packages and they have all given the same results)
Could you possibly advise on how to update the binary file for superuser? I've just tried the root again and it skipped installing superuser as it was already found on the phone.. i haven't felt this noobllike in some time!

Try uninstalliong Superuser or SuperSU and try again. Su binary should ask you if you want to update when you first open SuperSU, if you have Superuser, then you will need to open the app and go into settings to update binary.

Ok, is it just Superuser and not SuperSU correct? Can you go into settings in Superuser and towards the bottom there should be an option to update su binary. If it is SuperSU it will ask to update on its own when you open it. either way make sure it lets you update binary. Once binary is updated download and install any app that asks for root acces, so we can see if superuser request pops up.
Once we have confirmed root we can move onto installing Play Store. To do this you will need to be able to install a file explorer like ES file explorer so we can install the files we need for working Play Store.

In the superuser settings, there isn't anything apparent for trying to update the su binary.
the list reads as follows:

HUGE thanks to Klown80 for the advice and patience!
For anyone else in a similar situation with an MTK6589 cheapo phone, and had issues with the Motochopper root method (the root getting stuck at 'daemon started successfully' etc etc.....
Klown80's chinese root tool works a treat. You will have a chinese superuser app that may be a little annoying (you might be able to swap it for SuperSU or something but I had issues doing that so i've kept the chinese one) but the root works perfectly and the instructions given by Klown80 in the linked thread are very easy to follow.
I still had some issues with getting google services installed so you may want to look for a play store installer workaround - I know there is a cheeky little chinese mod apk that can be used to get the play store working, but i can't post it here.
Should anyone come across this thread and know of a good, stock english rom that I might be able to use, please leave a comment!

I know it's hard (impossible?) to change a Play Store account. Can't you just add your usual account? I think the store opens with whatever account you last used there, so you can always stick with just the one. If you can't have 2 accounts, first try a factory reset (Settings>Device Options), go to play store and see if it prompts you to register again. Reinstall SuperSU and run it.
Bibikalka's method will certainly give you a fresh Gapps (pico Gapps from here is fine.). Just seems a long way around to fix an account. An alternative is to uninstall Gapps, then flash the pico gapps in TWRP.
Thank you for the response! I'm most comfortable with uninstalling the Google Play Store and reflashing GAPPS. Here's what I did:
adb shell pm uninstall com.android.vending.apk
I double-checked in debloater and it was gone, so I rebooted to recovery, installed GAPPS again, Wiped Dalvik/Cache, rebooted. It upgraded, had Google Play back, made me agree to the TOS, but then it still had my original account logged in.
Can you tell me which APKs I need to remove? Because this apparently wasn't enough. Thanks!

Oh, you need to search how to uninstall gapps  You just got the play store. Need play services, framework and I don't know what else. Probably easier to uninstall with file explorer or rom toolbox. Frankly, I'd go with factory reset. I'm just not sure it'll actually work. If it does, that's easiest.
Ok. Thanks! I'll do my research tonight.

I think google account mgr is the other one you need, but pls do a search to be sure. Before uninstalling, try this: In Settings->apps'>manage all, scroll right to All and clear cache, clear data and force stop google framework, play services and acct mgr. Install play store (get latest from apkmirror), run it and see if you're prompted to sign in. If yes, good. If no, use es file explorer to uninstall the apps. They should be in system/priv-apps. es fm will prompt you to delete data. Then flash Gapps in TWRP.
I didn't something right. Here's what I did to the best of my knowledge:
Tried to clear cache/data force stop apps.
Couldn't install latest Play Store. Failed because apk already exists.
Used ES Explorer to uninstall apps.
Messed up and deleted Framework Services instead of uninstalling (ES Explorer newb error).
Uninstalled Google Acct Manager. Couldn't find any of the others to uninstall?
Flashed GAPPS in TWRP and wiped Dalvik/Cache.
My Google Play Store did not come back. =)
Is there a way to do everything over? (Go to 4.5.3, upgrade to 4.5.4, etc?
Thank you so much for your help. It's greatly appreciated.
EDIT; More specifically, I wouldn't mind doing a "Factory Reset", but I haven't found the specific instructions on here yet that will keep me from messing it up worse.

Factory reset can't hurt anything, even when everything's running fine. All it does is get rid of data. It doesn't touch root (the exploit) or any system stuff in /system. You stay on the same OS version you're on. (Settings/Device Options/Reset to Factory Defaults)
I don't think reset will help anything, but:
1. Factory reset
2. See if you got Google framework services back when you flashed Gapps.
3. See if you can install the play store apk you downloaded.
If yes, post back. If no, follow this guide to start over: http://forum.xda-developers.com/fire-hd/general/root-developer-preview-lollipop-os-5-t3172408 It's as step-by-step as we've got. If you want lollipop, follow the whole thing. For 4.5.4 only, just go through part B and post back. That guide says to post in other threads if problems, but you can post in that one.
Did the factory reset. Saw TWRP briefly on reboot before it rebooted again. Started on Wi-Fi screen. SuperSU popped up and asked for Root. Gave it. Now I'm stuck in Settings.
Oops. There's a lesson to be learned here. Factory reset is bad.
EDIT: I still have ADB connectivity.
EDIT 2: I guess I'll do the 5.2.0 update in the link you provided. I'm worried more about functionality than OS version. Thank you again for all of your help.

Dang! Live and learn. Well now we know what people are doing that causes "boot into settings."
First, try to reboot. You'll probably boot back to settings, but find out. Now make sure you can get into TWRP (adb reboot recovery). Lastly, go look at your original post for the fix
EDIT: @KindleFireHD6 Our posts crossed. Not sure how you're going to update. Were you able to boot to system?
Hey. I contributed! Woohoo!
Rebooted. Still prompted for language and then stuck in Settings.
Adb reboot recovery into TWRP
Should I use the original instructions to go back to 4.5.x or use the new and go to 5.2.0? Which involves the least risk?

Stick with @bibikalka's instructions for recovering from the bootloop and staying in 4.5.4. You can update to Lollipop after everything's stable and Gapps is good for you.
Yes, you did contribute. I suspect problem is factory reset from device while OTA is blocked. Thanks!
FIXED!
AND I used the correct email address when I setup Google Play this time. Funny thing is, it was all for Minecraft, which I had bought. It's showing up under All Apps, meaning it knows I've gotten it before, but it's showing that it costs $6.99 instead of just showing "Download". I wonder if there is a device limit and I reached it. Maybe 3?
Thank you again.

Bravo!!!
My phone has YouTube version 12.16.16 installed when the newest version in the Play Store is 12.19.56.
However the YouTube page in the play store does not show an Update button, just an Open button.
I downloaded the latest version APK, but I'm getting an "App not installed" error message while trying to install the APK.
After doing some google searching I reset app preferences, cleared cache of the Play Store and the Play Services apps and restarted the phone. Afterwards I'm still getting an error while installing the APK.
Any advice?

Deleted it entirely so it isn't a system app. Are you rooted? Remove it with titanium backup and reinstall from the play store

Ah sorry.. you could try uninstalling updates from settings/apps and then updating again in the play store
Could you please guide me further? Are you running android O?
I entered apps info from the settings and could not find an uninstall updates button. I would expect the button to appear in the play store on the YouTube page, but it does not.

Under apps it is the "disable" button. It will ask if you want to uninstall updates, click OK and let it disable.
Now reenable it and install update from play store

When I disable YouTube it just gets disabled. I do not get asked any questions. I still do not know how to get updates.
Anybody has an advice?
Not any app should be disabled. It's hard to tell as we don't know all modifications you did to your system. It seems to be working for everyone.
Factory reset and done...

You have no idea what I'm talking about obviously
On earlier versions (not sure about on O), when you disable it'll ask you if you want to uninstall updates. You can then re-enable and reinstall the updates.

If you don't want root, flash twrp with fastboot, boot to twrp recovery, mount system, use twrpfilemanager to delete YouTube, use twrp to install stock recovery.img, boot system and install YouTube from playstore.
First you can try to download YouTube.apk from apkmirror.com and try updating manually.
Edit, sry you tried that already.
Good luck, root makes life easier

Keep calm. I didn't read your message.
What I am saying is that no apps should be disabled (not only YouTube) and that finally a factory reset would solve the problem.

That would take a lot longer than what I suggested. A full reset vs a two second fix.

Twice you quote my whole post but only answer the part you are interested in.
The suggestion that I gave after yours to re-enable all apps is valid whatever you say and includes your ''two seconds fix''.... I brought this to his attention because he's still asking for help.
So if your fix doesn't work OP can try this and ultimately factory reset.
Wow I don't intend to explain 3 times a so simple post. Take your time to read...

Nice bull****ting with your factory reset, lol
I was on O and had the new updated youtube tabs. After resetting it back to 7.1.2 the tabs didn't appear. Deleted the app from system with no luck.
Can you clarify on how you think a factory reset would solve this?

YouTube DP3 now
I've been trying to root my Sparrow without much luck. Followed the instructions and keep getting the following error.
Updater process ended with ERROR : 2
Error installing zip file '/sdcard/SuperSU-2.79-wear.zip
Downloaded SuperSu from here
https://forum.xda-developers.com/apps/supersu/android-wear-6-0-1-root-squashfs-t3319097
Tried installing with System mounted
You are on AW2.0, right? If so, that's why.
O wait, I didn't realize the 1.5 in your title. Sorry for the confusion.
Got it sorted

I used this ^^ SuperSU without BusyBox, and one time it worked, but now trying to use it after a complete wipe and re-install of 1.5, SuperSU appears to install, but Wear Root Checker says Not Rooted. I can't figure out what I am doing wrong/different. I have tried with and without wiping dalvik cache, I have tried with and without mounting system. Can't get it to stick!
Anyone have any ideas?

Are you using this app?
If so it doesn't work anymore.
Easiest way to see if you're rooted is to use this app. It doesn't open if you're not rooted.
If you really want to test it, use that app to uninstall a system app. Like that useless activity tracker they include.

Thanks!
I uninstalled Wear Root Checker, and installed Advanced Settings, and it opened but said Screen Overlay detected and wouldn't proceed. After reading up on Screen Overlay problems, I found that Wear Mini Launcher was mentioned as a culprit - I uninstalled it, and now Advanced Settings works!
What activity tracker are you talking about? Fit? iFit? Activity Stub?

Ah, I see it. Similar to Fit, but has a sleep tracker.
Have you figured out a way to disable OTA update?
