[Q] How to put my password on a broken screen - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

hey guys, I own a Nexus 4, kitkat original ROM,not rooted, disabled for USB Debugging, and yesterday it fell on the street and broke the lower-right part of the touchscreen, which is right the part that the pattern to unlock is at. So now i'm not able to unlock the phone, and i can't also put the "forgot the pattern" option cuz almost half of the keyboard doesn't work. I'm going to buy a new phone, but I don't want to lose everything I have, so i was looking for solutions to unlocking the phone or at least accessing the files without going through the screen. i won't use it ever again, so any option at all for me to recover the files is good, no matter what. I thought of some ways to recover, but i'm not familiar with them, so i thought you guys could help:
-mirroring the screen on the pc so i could unlock it
-hacking through the password to either access the files on the pc or using the phone
-bypassing the lockscreen somehow
-tricking it so that the pattern would appear at the top of the screen instead of at the bottom
-hell even opening the phone sounds good to me if i could use its files after
thanks in advance,

How about you change your gmail password to coincide with what you CAN press on the keyboard so that when you enter a password, you'll be able to enter it.

[Q] Too many pattern attempts - LOCKED

Hello everyone.
Today I left my phone (galaxy S2) in my cousin's hand, and he tried to unclock my screen lock pattern. After too many attempts, my phone got lcoked and it asked me to sign in using my google account. I did so, and the phone got unlocked.
But when I press the lock button, or the phone gets locked automatically and I press the lock button to unlock it, the "too many pattern attempts" screen comes back again. Also my sim card is not being detected even though its there.
I have tried rebooting the phone, disabling the screen lock patten in security settings, disabling google account. Nothing has helped so far!
When you disabled the screen lock setting, what happens? You could try booting into recovery and wiping cache. If that doesn't work, then you'll probably have to factory reset.
When I disable it, nothing happens, as in it shows that it is disabled on the security settings. But when I press the lock button, the too many attempts screens comes back again. I tried a fctory reset too. Its still there! This is so frustrating!
Flashing a new rom should do the trick.
No you don't have to Flash
Try this please:
It was all about this "Two-Step Verification" security of google!
I tried everything... and I mean EVERYTHING (except flashing my XooM), but at the edge of giving up, I signed into my google account and issued an "Application Specific Password" for Xoom from my Google account.
I used my [email protected] with that Application Specific Password and it worked. (do not enter spaces in the password)
There is one solution
Hello,
I had similar problem with my Motorola Xoom WiFi. My friends was playing with my tablet and they was trying to guess my login pattern. Unfortunately sign in via Google account did not worked and WiFi network was turned off. So I was looking for way how to unlock it without root access.
Finally I found it. I wrote an application which turns on WiFi. It is quite simple. There is one requirement, you have to have enabled debuge mode. After installing app via IDE (eg. Eclipse) WiFi is connected to known network and you can log in with your Google account. There is also possibility to set network parameters in app code before compilation.
I hope this helps someone with this problem. At the end I want apologize for my poor english

Sometimes simple is best. If you saved the rom, go into recovery and restore the saved rom.

[Q] Bypass Pattern Lock

First of all, I know this has been posted before regarding other devices, but I couldn't find anything about this phone.
Here's the deal, my friend passed away on Friday night, and suicide was highly suspected. His parents very much want to be able to unlock his phone and find any reasons that may point to suicide. They have exhausted all of the pattern lock attempts possible, so now it's stuck at the recovery option.
The phone is definitely on stock, and most likely hasn't been rooted. When I try to unlock it, I can see the actual homescreen in the background before the password recovery screen pops up. The phone is still active, so I can call it and text it if that can help bypass the lock screen in any way.
Any help is GREATLY appreciated.
Wellp, none of the glitch methods I found online seemed to work. But I did manage to get into the phone.
I realized that Firefox/Chrome/Whatever will probably have his password for gmail saved. So his parents let me on his laptop and I managed to find his gmail password in the saved passwords and reset his pattern lock.

[Q] ADM Lock

Hey Guys, I've got a problem with my phone, an Alcatel One Touch Idol 6030a.
Today I was messing around with Android Device Manager, locating my phone via web, and tried the "lock" thing. There, I was asked to enter a password, which I did, and then my phone was locked.
The problem came when I tried to type that password. I just can't, there is an input box, but when I tap, there's no keyboard, no nothing, so I can't enter my password! (See attached pic).
So I started searching the web for help, but it seems today is not my day. Yesterday I change USB mode to "charge only", 'cause I plugged it to my car's stereo and just wanted to charge it.
I never have USB Debugging on, only when I know I'm gonna need it, and today I didn't know :/, son I can't use adb.
I also tried deleting the "gesture.key" file, in /data/system/, via aroma, but nothing happened.
So, as far as I know, my only option left is wiping, but that is something I'm really trying to avoid, unless, of course, there's nothing left to do.
And that would be my question, do any of you know what can I do to disable that darn password lock?
Thanks in advance

Have you tried going into recovery and removing the app entirely with adb? Of course this is assuming you're rooted.

Did you delete password.key also from that ~/data/system ?
If you have not done, then do it again and try.
After you delete, clear cache and reboot. If it asks for password, try to see whether the keyboard comes up.
If it doesn't, try to access without typing anything.
Press thanks if I have helped.

Someone please help, for this Idiot :D

Hey Everyone. I have a extremely annoying and stupid problem with my phone
I have Z5 Premium. What happen is that my phone was always locked with fingerprint and pin number. BUT, for some reason after installing some applications and launchers to try on my phone my locking system sometimes didn't work. Some it lets me just to swipe my finger and I unlocks the phone, without asking for pin... sometimes it asks and sometime it don't, it started to be very annoying so I wanted to check if I change it to password instead of pin if it will be the same. The good news is, it looks like it fixed that problem and the bad news is my phone is so f***ing safe now that I can't even unlock it my self!
I created that password for very temporary time, for some extremely stupid reason I used password which I never used it anywhere else, it was only 4 letters and at that time it looked very easy to type and remember it but I was wrong... I reminded it for 20 mins than I felt a sleep for a short nap and when I woke up, its gone I'm trying to guess that pass and unlock it for 4 straight days now!!
I know I can do hard reset and start again from scratch but I don't want that. I just made all the setups for my phone and everything and I don't want to loose whats in it.
So what options do I have? I found quite few good methods but usually I'm not able to do one of the steps in it..
I tried Google Device Manager method, it didn't work because I already had password not a pin or pattern so it didn't let change pass
The best one I found so far is to flash a script through CWM to remove my pass. The only thing is my phone is stock at the moment and unrooted so I don't have CWM. Another problem is I don't think USB Debugging is enabled on my phone which creates even more problems in my situation I couldn't even get my phone into normal recovery mode when I tried with this phone, anyone know how to do it?
So guys, what options do I have without resting and deleting everything on my phone again?? Please help me, as this thing drives me crazy form 4 days now... I want to smash my phone into wall or my fu****g head because I set that pass up...
Ps. Is it possible to do a android backup on my phone? with looked screen and debugging disabled? but somehow so it doesn't backup my lock screen pass to? I dont think so my self but may be Im wrong..
thanks
I just found another method which I will try now, it could work...
nope, usb debuging needs to be enabled on that method too.. :/
never mind "helpful people" sort it out by my self.. how do i delete this threat??
Hi, I have the exact same problem but I want to hard reset the phone as it is new. What should I do to achieve that?

Question screen black, unresponsive to touch, screen lock enabled, usb mode on charging....

I've been stalking this forum for a few years now, from back before all the pop ups, but for the first time i'm stumped. Here's the rundown: i broke my pixel 6. not terribly heartbroken, the phone is ****, everything it does "well" is only moderate on any other phone i've owned.... sorry, digression. Anyway, screen is completely black and unresponsive to touch. screen is locked with 6 digit pin. I know the pin. but i cant enter it because the unresponsive screen. Phone gives haptic feedback when a wireless mouse is plugged into a multi port adapter, which i bought intending to plug the phone into an hdmi port... but back to the pixel 6 being a ****ty phone, i have to install an app to do so, since the phone doesn't do it natively.....which i cant do, because it seems that while usb debugging may be on (adb detects the phone) i cant authorize the computer.... even though ive done it a hundred times, always clicking "always allow from device" sorry, digression again. i just want to get my **** off of this phone. guys at cell phone store are either incapable or incompetent, because they say they need touchscreen access. i have otg adapter, multiport adapter, wireless keyboard/mouse....can anyone help me?
EDIT broken phone has to go back to the insurance company in....6 days

sure would, hell, it does. except that im still signed in on the old phone. and since that is the case, google keeps asking me to verify my identity via broken phone. and trying to do account recovery results in an email explaining that im signed in on another device, and if i want to change my password, i can do so on that device
Oh ok

you see my dilemma?
You may be able to project your screen with a wired dock (see https://support.google.com/pixelphone/answer/2865484?hl=en). By following the directions and begging for or borrowing a USB-C dock from someone, you should be able to get your stuff off your device, especially as you can connect a mouse to the dock if touch doesn't work.
The other alternative that may work for you is to go into fastboot (long press power to shut off the device, then press and hold volume down while pressing and holding power) and use ADB to backup your device, including the storage. See https://www.technipages.com/how-to-backup-your-entire-android-device for details, and pay attention to the -shared flag.
