[Q]CyanogenMod 9 Samsung Galaxy Xcover GT-S5690? - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello guys, i have a request for all Samsung Galaxy Xcover GT-S5690 devs. Can anyone dev help me port CyanogenMod 9 for my Xcover? How can i do that if it's possible of course

Hi!
I'm no dev, but I got a GT-S5690 yesterday from someone who no longer needed it. I just ordered a replacement battery, and I was looking to find some custom ROM for it, but it seems there hasn't been much interest in developping ROMs for this device. Too bad, because even if the specs are not top notch, the fact that it is IP67 makes it a great companion for all kinds of activities (I'm fond of kayaking).
There seems to be lots of people wanting CM for that phone. I'm just afraid it might be impossible, otherwise I guess someone would already have published a zip file to flash.
Anyway, here's what I've found:
http://forum.cyanogenmod.org/topic/40439-samsung-galaxy-xcover/
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2441912&page=2
https://github.com/manakeri/android_device_samsung_xcover/wiki/Installing-CyanogenMod
I might give it a try when I have some free time. But I will first have to learn how to compile CM. It goes without saying that if I get it to work, I'll share the file.
Let me know if you find something on your side!
Cheers!

[Q] Porting Cyanogen

Hello, i hope this Question is in the right category/place, if not, Feel Free To Throw Candies~ :3
So, i have a Samsung Galaxy Fit S5670 Don't Kill Me QAQ7 and from what i saw, It is really similar to the galaxy mini S5770, we even got a Cyanogen port for mini working on galaxy fit, only things that aren't working are the Camera amongst other minor stuff.
My Question is, How do one port roms? and if possible, how to fix the bugs in the rom we already have, note that the two phones are really similar and the port was tested by quite a few people.
Any push in the right direction would help, thank you so much in advance~<3
p.s. i searched everywhere for pertinent info, couldn't find any, was really hesitant to ask ouo

[Q]How to port cyanogenmod to new devices?

Hi guys, I was thinking about trying to port CyanogenMod to Lg Optimus Chic E720. I'd like to know if there's any tutorial about this, or at least a few tips for start the development. How to start? Supposing i've already downloaded the sources. Is CWM required? Because at the moment I've only got AmonRa style recovery by drellisdee
up please help me
This should help you
How could it help me building CyanogenMod?
I used that kitchen to cook the official 2.2 and 2.2.1 from LG, i don't think it is useful for porting CM, isn't it?

This is a hard question
Hmmm...
Hmmm... Porting ROMs is a bit hard but I think you can manage it. You'd have to find a device with the same resolution and the same CPU Type and download the CyanogenMod for it and then try porting it.
I think this might help you...

If people are looking to move into development, dont be a ****, you know who you are!
First off, any question of this nature will get you slammed by "pure" devs, because, it is not easy and takes hard work, "pure" devs will take the time to slam you for not doing as they have done, watch Hackers from the 90's, joey gets slammed all the time. Asking questions without taking the time to look first, or asking questions which look this way, makes you a target!
The key is to read, search, read, investigate, search, read, learn! then do it all again. There is a massive repository of knowledge out there, if you come and say something like "I have been looking to port a CM build, I have looked into it there is alot, anyone know a good place to start?" Your less likely to get slammed.
The CM Wiki or the CM Forum is your best bet. Plus you could join the community, start small I would, if you spend alot of time on it you could rip through some small branches with support, then move onto what you want quite quickly. If that doesnt make sense, head over to the froum and community and read, read ,read. It will eventually.
I know this post is old but people still look at it from searches. Be kind you never use'd to know either.
Thanks

[Q] UBUNTU TOUCH on Samsung S3 (i9300/i9305) ?

Hi everyone,
First thanks to the XDA community I'm new here, even if I know and use XDA forum for a while, and you have been always so helpful!
So I own a Samsung Galaxy S3 (i9305), actually running CyanogenMod. I have been looking for tuts or help, in order to port the UBUNTU Touch on my device (I'm quite a noob^^), but with no success... :-/ Apparently things are almost completed for the i9300, but nothing for the i9305, which would be quite different if I'm right...
Is there any news, or any projects to port Ubuntu on this device?
I'm not an expert, but I'll be happy to help in any possible way, for porting Ubuntu Touch to i9305. I know this device is popular (like other the S3 models), and I'm also sure this would be useful for a lot of people!
Thx in advance for your answers and your help (and sorry if my english is not so good...)!
Did you find a way for the Galaxy s4 i9500
Hi, here it is about the S3, which porting project seems to be, like for the S4, more or less abandoned... It is sad and I would be pleased to know the reasons, and if it is possible to "restart" at least some of those projects.
Anyone ?
Dont think so bud
Pretty sure very few currently unsupported or older devices will get ports, what few devs are available will work on more relevant devices. Time for a new phone..
Yes, apparently porting projects are mostly abandoned... That's sad I think, according to the still important part of potential adopters (like me ) who still have their "old" flagships, and do not necessarily want to buy a new expensive phone, at this point of the Ubuntu mobile OS evolution.... but maybe I'm the only one thinking that way?

I honestly deon't believe that anybody has taken the time to configure a 6.0 rom for this phone. I had plans to get some compiling done myself for it but hadn't got around to it yet. i hopefully will be looking into it within the next few weeks, after i port either cwm or twrp to the Phablet.
Really?
Sweet! Definitely keep me posted on that I would love to see some progress on this for sure. Being that the blu studio 7.0 II is still fairly a new device I would of thought someone would of developed something by now. I guess no one really cares because it ain't a SAMSUNG. lol

Perhaps I can help you. I have compiled android from source one before but I didn't do anything to the code, just issued "make" and waited. I really didn't explore the code. I would like to understand the different parts in an android build and understand where device specific information goes. That said, I am by no means green. I veteran of bash and vi from the "build your own kernel" Slackware era and more embarrassing relics before that. So, if you can use the help, just outline the process you follow as it would likely be the same for other devices. Flowchart it and assign squares to me. Then I could learn how it all fits together. If there is anything at all I can do to contribute, please let me know. I was considering a Blue Studio 7, but I want to learn regardless of what I might get.
Thanks
Really looking forward to this. Being that this device is starting to slow down on me extremely, I think a marshmallow update would straighten this phone out.
does anyone have stock firmware for the blu studio 7.0 ii mine is stuck on the start screen

i looked here but could not find
http://www.blu-dev.com/
or
http://support.moulnisky.com/index.php?dir=Blu/
or
http://www.needrom.com/category/othe...d/blu-a-b-c-d/
or
http://tttony.blogspot.com.br/2014/1...s-blu.html?m=1
only other option is this
(need to register and pay-maybe for a month access and initial download limit sufficient for one device-need correct drivers and flash tools)
http://clangsm.com/ftpdemo/index.php?dir=Flashes/BLU/
similar thing happened with me recently on BLU Studio 7 LTE version (stuck on BLU Android start screen)
did factory reset did not work
ended up returning to vendor (BLU support had only factory reset as option and advised item was under warranty so told me to send it back)
have a new one now...planning to extract system and system dump (do not want similar situation again or pay a 1/3 cost for the rom zip) (not sure if possible but will try; know it can be rooted)
works great though

Any progress been made on this? I'd love to install a custom MM rom on my Blu Studio 7.0 LTE. Thanks for all you're doing!
+1 on this. I have a Studio 7 LTE in the mail and would love to be able to upgrade it somehow. I'm not quite technical enough to make a ROM but I am highly technically inclined if I can help in any way.
It says here that the studio 7 devices are getting Nougat. Anyone think there is any truth to it? I tweeted Blu and asked them if it was going to happen but haven't heard back yet. Kinda skeptical
I just received this reply from when I asked if this phone will get nougat
my blu phone
how can i update it to marshmallow!please help! thank you!
Thanks guys! This effort is greatly appreciated, and it looks like we will need to DIY a build for the Blu phones. I am in a similar bind as the rest of you. My company decided to cheap out on test devices (I pushed for the also inexpensive Nexus varieties), rather than go the normal route of using an emulator. I am a Project Manager by trade, and I have programming experience (primarily web with various PHP frameworks). My previous/current secondary test device was a rooted Samsung Galaxy Note 3 running an international version of DU with TWRP. If we have any traction, l am happy to assist, and I love learning new things. On my agenda right now is giving myself a crash course on Android Studio and its associated MVC to start my own project in case this one loses traction.
Find it rather odd, this device is still on 5.0 and king root or kingo root can not root it. Am I missing something or is BLU bootloader just as robust as Samsung??
