Has anyone else spent a lot of time fiddling with getting the Verizon up and running on at&t or T-Mobile in the states? Has anyone else gotten LTE working through the hidden menus while maintaining the ability to set APNs? (I got the LTE allegedly turned on with GSM but was then unable to change or use APN). I have also had some issues getting the stock messaging app to correctly use the proper MMSC for MMS -- currently workaround using Go SMS Pro and its manual settings. Another issue I have is incoming caller ID with my at&t Sim comes in the format +7075551212 which results in an invalid callback.
Has anybody successfully resolved these issues? I'm on rooted stock ME7 and would assume this is a safe assumption for this thread.
With an unlocked bootloader I would think tmo WiFi calling would be possible by flashing or porting a tmo ROM. Does anybody have a WiFi calling workaround?

I have been using my i545 with a T-Mobile sim in the Seattle area for 2 weeks now. I was using the hyperdrive 9.1 ROM and a couple days ago switched to the Eclypse ROM. Both required adding the APN and neither giving LTE. There is another thread where a gentleman is attempting to shoehorn in a different radio but so far has only succeeded in bricking his phone, but I am holding out hope.
I have noticed that with hyperdrive the icons showed 3g 4g and HSPCA+ but on eclipse I only get the 3g icon for hspca+ and no icon for 4g or 3g on eclipse, which doesn't really bother me much but something I have noticed.
I have had zero mms sms issues i keep hearing about. I use the 4.2 AOSP messaging apk. I should note that my wife has a note 2 from verizon also running a tmobile sim and she had issues until i added the mms proxy info in the apn. Now she can send fine also. (i also had to delete the setup.apk to get rid of the sim notification on her pgone but not mine.)
One thing I am having an issue with is when I cycle the phone on and off. When it turns back on I get a notification that all calls are being forwarded to a 1800 number but when I click the notification it thinks for a bit then disables all 3 settings and the phone works fine.
I hope someone smarter than myself can figure this out. Our radios are supposedly able to pick up and frequency, so in theory it is possible. I tried to flash a 9500 ROM in hopes the radio settings would work, but was rewarded with a bricked phone and joy of an oden back up.
I have a Sprint One Max that I rooted, s-offed, super cid, and sim unlocked and have a Strait Talk at&t sim card in it , talk , text , and data speeds are great ( at&t strait talk sim data speeds are faster than the t-mobile strait talk sim in my HTC Sensation even) but I can't get MMS to work and even with using hangouts or go sms with apn's set for strait talk its hit or miss on downloading and sending MMS .
I was getting the vdm client has stopped error on phone boot up but after replacing the HtcOMADM_SPCS.apk used for the sim unlock with the stock one from stock rooted rom that error is gone now butI have read that sim unlocking the one max (cdma) and running on gsm network is what is causing the problem but I was wondering if there is a work around or anything that might fix the mms problem or is that just the trade off using cdma phone with gsm sim card ?
Do you have the correct APN settings for straight talk??
I have the same phone but I'm using NET10 AT&T SIM Card and at first when I went thru the process I had to update the Apn settings so MMS would work correctly

I'm using one on T-Mobile and my MMS isn't working either. I sent myself a test mms this morning and it went through. Then my friend sent me one and it went through. I then tried to send one to another friend about an hour later and it didn't work. Just sent another test to myself and it's not going through.
Edit: Try using a different sms app like Textra. I switched over to that and it appears my mms are going through. I've sent several to myself and it's worked. Waiting to here back from my friend if he's receiving them as well.
I need to get my Data and calls working with this Verizon S5.
I bought it at an authorized T-MOBILE dealer without realizing it was a Verizon model.
They unlocked it but obviously didn't do it right. The Verizon Internet APN is still showing but cannot remove and cannot delete. Data and calls do not work when adding T-Mobile APN info, either. I have a constant message along the top saying "This SIM card is from an unknown source". I get a similar message when trying to make phone calls. Sometimes they will go through but only intermittently.
I want to know.....
Can I put a T-Mobile ROM on my SM-G900V without bricking it and get Data and calling back? Has this been successfully done before? Links? Any idea on how to get the Verizon S5 working properly on the T-Mobile network at all?
The guys at the store are idiots, will not help, screwed me over saying i signed some kind of doc agreeing to a 72 hour return policy, not a 14-day return policy... My fault for not reading the fine print, yes... But their intentions were to screw people over from the beginning. Makes me want to just "RAAAAAAAWWR"
********EDIT**********
I did find a thread in the QnA by searching for "Unlock" and he has successfully put a t-mobile ROM on it, so why does his data work and mine doesn't ??? Any ideas?? I cannot completely test the theory at the moment because i'm at work but i am posting this in case anyone knows why the data would not work. I'm in the process of contacting Verizon directly to see if they have anything of use, but i doubt it.
That sounds like your device isn't actually unlocked.
Just flashing a different carrier firmware don't unlock the phone from my understanding.
Verizon s5 (and s4) are carrier unlocked. I use both on T-Mobile with no issues
I have done this with 2 iPhone 5s's, an i545 Verizon S4 (which I loved), a N900V Verizon Galaxy Note 3 and now on an SM-G900V Verizon S5. All are carrier unlocked out of the box and work with T-Mobile. There are a few caveats.
For the android devices, here is what you can do without obtaining root:
1. if you remove your Verizon SIM and put in the T-Mobile SIM calls should work without any change except you need to be in global mode. In settings, change settings/connections/more networks/mobile networks/network mode/ to global.
2. To get data working, go to settings/connections/more networks/mobile networks/access point names and edit the T-Mobile settings. The name does not matter, but the APN should be fast.t-mobile.com
3. To get MMS you have to change a few other settings (but leave all others unchanged):
MMSC should be http://mms.msg.eng.t-mobile.com/mms/wapenc
MCC should be 310
MNC should be 260
APN Type should be default,mms/supl,dun
4. You can't remove the "SIM is from an unknown source" message without root. I believe you can stop the message by holding the notification until you find the app info, and then force stop it. But it will return after any reboot.
If you are willing to root your phone (I used Towelroot), in addition to the above you can:
5. Remove the message about the SIM by freezing "Setup Wizard 1.0" using Titanium Backup
6. Using the app "Advanced Signal Status" you can set your phone to LTE/GSM only so it no longer looks for CDMA service
Summary: Changing Verizon S4, Note 3 and S5 phones (as well as the iPhones) to T-Mobile service is not difficult. I switched carriers completely for my entire 5 line contract without changing phones. I now have unlimited data on 4 of the 5 phones (one user does not need much), and my monthly bill is half of my old Verizon service. Yes - HALF.

Here is a Guide I found that may be exactly what your looking for.

It works, but may loose a bit of benefits when it comes to Network, since the Verizon doesn't have all T-Mobile bands, but close enough.

i will verify everything he said above as true as i have done the same. i can also verify that you flash a tmobile rom (be sure not to flash any baseband/modem or any other partition) and you can get VoLTE to work etc... The only thing missing is the 2100 MHz radio which means HSDPA+ will not work in all areas but that is a hardware limitation.

The Verizon SM-900V does support the 2100MHz radio, Band 4 just has to be enabled. I followed these instructions to get it working properly:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2582747
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2530523
Notes: It says it's for the Note 3, but it does work on the Galaxy S5. You will need to use the stock ROM with the stock dialer for this to work.
I was wondering, can you point me in the right direction to a good T-Mobile ROM to try out, that you know will work properly on the 900V? It will have to work on the stock NE9 or NI2 firmware. I just don't have a whole lot of time to test between studying and taking all of these MIT online courses. I can tell you that it really sucks having a locked bootloader though Lol. Thanks in advance!
Where are you guys finding that Android Data Tool? I don't see it on the play store...by any chance, can someone post the apk?
Good morning
We recently switched from Verizon to a T-Mobile pre-paid plan and the idea was to use my wife's Verizon G3 on T-Mobile. Everything is working fine for us but Text. Most of the time it just will not send. I have changed and done all I could think of our found on the Internet with the APN settings, tried Global and GSM under Network Type etc.
Typically after a reset the text will work for some time and then stop working again. We have tried with her Rooted phone on Jasmine and also my phone which was returned to Stock since I am trying to sell it. Same experience in both instances.
Any ideas?
here are the Access Point Settings we currently have
everything works for me now, i just cant send nor receive picture messages. It always says message expired.
I checked the APN and settings match.
Thanks for your help.
Purchased a A10e sm-a102u from someone. It originally was a sprint variant. Seller said it worked on cricket. She had me and sprint 3 way call to tell me they unlocked it, and a dialer code removed sprint provisioning (splash screen?) Ended up still locked to sprint sims. I found a menu hack (changeCSC apk) via applying a theme to open carrier selection inside legal info menu. I tried switching it to XAA and XAS, which allowed it to recognize my Mint Mobile sim card. This also allowed APN editing. Now the phone works to call and mms over wifi only. No mobile network and it says emergency calls only.
The build number ends in -ATE5.
The default apns are t mobile
In download mode it says carrier- BST.
Its like its half unlocked?? What am i missing? My Mint sim works in a unlocked LGv20
