So, i have been happily using my sgs 3 for just less than a year and after having flashed quite a few roms, i decided that i should simply go back to stock android, which i did...
So i flashed my all time favorite (xxemg4, which is basically android 4.1.2) just like any other time...
But this time i decided that i should do a factory reset, which i did after i flashed the original rom, cwm recovery and boeffla kernel... So far so good. I wipe everything and proceed to boot the device. Everything is going according to plan. Then i decide that i want to take a selfie. But, my s3 doesnt want to... Camera failed, and camera app exits...
I told my self that its the first boot this is to be expected... So i rebooted... The result? Zip. Nada.
I wiped cache, the app's data, dalvik cache, nothing worked... what do i do now? Factory reset once again?
I even tried flashing a camera mod which i know that it works( i have tried it before, but this time nothing happened)
Help would be reaaaally appreciated

Did you flash the correct boeffla for stock roms?
Go to recovery delete /system /data /preload /cache and delvik cache. Use odin and reflash stock, factory reset then try from there.
It was definitely the correct kernel... now regarding the factory reset, i will need some time to get my backups up once again
On a side note if I try to use the camera, it makes some kind of sound, as if it is working, which it has never done before

I also can get in to recovery mode and i did a wipe date/factory reset, but is not working.
and when i try to do a RESTORE is telling me that there is no sd-ext.img
and no android_secure.img
can some one PLEASE help me. THANKSSSSsss........
In your recovery are you able to flash images? If so I suggest you download a ROM and try to flash it. That usually solves my problems.
Yea try reflashing a ROM, deleting everything off your sdcard, wiping factory data, davlik cache, and sd ext partition.
Wipe anything you can pretty much ha.
You should only really have to flash the ROM. I can't imagine how replacing the ROM wouldn't totally fix everything. Do a wipe first.
Also understand that it can easily take 5 to 10 minutes to boot for the first time after flashing a new rom let it sit for 20 then worry.
As long as you can hit recovery you haven't ****ed it up too bad though, that's a positive.
Nice i just run the RUU and now my phone wont turn on at all
so do i need to wipe b4 a flash even if after the last ROM loaded i immediately re-flashed cuz i hated the the ROM? also is wipe necessary if TB really wipes every re-boot?

I always wipe. Period. I just find it more reliable that way. Just use Titanium Backup Pro and it makes your life very easy.
Edit: and a lot of ROM makers want you to wipe data/davlik/cache before you report a bug.
k ive been using CRW n wiping cache/factory reset then wiping dalvik wut does "wipe cache partition" do? also how does CWM recovery work as it doesn't seem to work from rom manager_ oh it seems i figured it out ,sorry stiil a little fresh
I recently rooted my phone using this tool: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1255548
I tried flashing MIUI and ICS after doing full wipes, but when rebooting the phone, it won't go mast the Motorola logo where it says "Unlocked." Is there a way to fix this?
wipe data/factory reset, cache, and dalvik in recovery

I always do that before I flash a rom. I've done it at least 5-6 times now as I try to reflash the roms.
Sorry, early morning brain fart!
What do you consider a full wipe?
How long are you leaving your phone rebooting after flashing the ROM on the initial first reboot?
You could try flashing a kernel after flashing the ROM. You shouldn't have to, but I would try flashing the appropriate kernel from Faux.
Try wiping cache and dalvic cache. After do a factory reset. Then flash the ROM twice! As in back to back without doing anything else.
Personally I would flash another Rom, Some like Nottach or Cm7.2 and see if it boots, if so then recharge the battery and then try fresh again doing the wipes like others have said.
I had issues before where my recovery wouldnt boot but reflash did and was able to redo things and all is well.
For MIUI you need a separate kernel I tried flashing before and was stuck too, then flashed a kernel and it worked (jokers v3 kernels work well)
I have just tried installing CM7 from this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1257574
I made sure to do a wipe all data, cache, and dalvik cache. Then rebooted and waited for it go past the logo for 10-15 minutes (which it didn't).
This is the same process I go through for each rom, but it still doesn't work.
I tried installing the new JB leaked firmware via Odin, and even though I get the green PASS, it reboots into my existing wanam rom.
Does anyone know why this is not working for me? Any other suggestions?
See screen shot...
Try an earlier version of Odin maybe ? (That's a real strange one, btw).

Yes I actually used Odin 1.85 version and got the same result.
The only thing I can think of is to try to flash to a generic stock ICS firmware and then try again, but there is no guarantee that it will work either.
Others on custom roms seem to not have an issue flashing to the new JB leaked firmware, so I really don't know what to do...
did you try clean cache, dalvik cache and a factory reset, it may reboot into jb rom.

No I haven't as yet, I did think about factory resetting before I flashed via Odin, but didn't really want to factory reset unless I was sure JB would work as I like how my phone is set up now.
But I'm at the stage now where I might try factory resetting anyway, I was just waiting for a CWM flashable version to be upped.
How important do you think it is to clean cache, dalvik cache?
I did clean cache, dalvik cache once before in CWM and got the sim locked error, which I finally fixed using the simunlock app, very frustrating for so long, so I'm very reluctant to ever clean cache, dalvik cache in CWM ever again...
Hi guys.
Been trying to figure this our for hours.
I flashed AOSPxXx-ICS-20121111 on my phone but not it runs brutally slow. It takes a like 30 seconds to launch apps.
I followed this steps.
booted to cwm
wiped user data
wiped cache
wiped dalvik cache
install rom
rebooted
let it sit for 10+ mins
What am I doing wrong?
Thanks
Wipe all of the above, plus the system partition.
I cant confirm that the new rom wipes the system partition for you, but if not, then you dirty flashed.
that will cause all kinds of trouble.
Also, did you add any mods like a new kernel ?
I ultimately suggest a new full wipe, and flash. and even a new download of the rom to ensure a clean build.
Sometimes they arrive all borked up....g
Rewipe reflash nd if persist reboot a couple times sometimes it can be slow after aa flash give a couple of reboots nd itll snap too
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I717 using xda app-developers app
What else did you flash? Theme, modem,??
Just wipe and re flash. Don't restore apps, get them from the market.
All I did was flash a new rom, nothing else. I will try again =)
ok i finally got it to work. used odin and restored ics 4.0.4 =)
