SM-G900T on AT&T MMS problem. - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S 5

I have a G900T on AT&T that can not send or receive pictures by Message Application. Everything else is working. I understand thatvit should be an APN setting problem but I understand that I have the correct settings. Can someone help me?

I have the G900T on AT&T and can send pictures without problem either through email or MMS. I would google the APN settings and make sure they are exactly correct, ie. no periods and commas switched or forward slashes for back slashes, etc.

I'm glad you got it working. I assure you I was not speaking from experience. I would NEVER do anything like that. Not more than 3 or 4 times anyway.

This is what i would do if you plan on flashing roms that require you add or change your apn. Once you get it set up correctly, take screen shots of the correct apn and save them to you computer and or phone ext sd card. This way you always have your settings right there. No more need to search the forums for the correct settings. This is what i do and it has saved me several times in the past.

Contact your carrier for MMS settings. Or search online for them. Surely someone has them up online somewhere (like your carrier's website, for example).

Doubtful.
What are your APN settings?
Do you have a Message Center (may be spelled as "Centre") number in your Messaging settings?

You say your carrier gave you those settings? csky.net and csky.us are not CellularOne domains. A quick google of csky.net and csky.us results in not CellularOne, but something called ClearSky. I guess it's possible that they are a third party mobile internet provider for your carrier, in your area, but that's just weird.

I find it odd that both MMSC has a port specified (6672), and there is a completely different value in MMS port.
Do you know anyone else on CellularOne you can compare the MMS APN setting to?

Then sorry bud, I'm out of ideas. I've tried googling CellularOne MMS APN settings, and have come up with about 5 different sets of settings - all different. Which is really unhelpful.
I'd say your best bet may be to go to a CellularOne store (if one exists) and get a person in the shop to look at it, or compare to one of the floor models or an employee phone that MMS works on, to make absolutely sure the settings match.
Beyond that, I'm stumped.

MMS sending problems

Hey guys, I just came off of the Galaxy Note to the S3. I never keep the data option enabled all day because of the battery drain, plus I just manually update all my sync'd apps anyway so there's no need for it to drain my battery & use up my pre paid credits at the same time.
My problem is this. With the galaxy note when I would go to either send or receive an MMS I wouldnt have to have my data connection permanently on. It would automatically enable the connection to send or recieve the incoming MMS, download the pic for me then automatically disconnect it when it was done. No muss no fuss. The GS3 does not automatically enable data to retrieve ur messages, you instead get a little download button in ur text you have to click. Problem is even after I enable data and click download to retrieve my mms, 95% of the time nothing happens, no activity is shown that the pic is actually being downloaded and you just end up staring at the screen for an hour until you get bored and turn it off, without your mms.
Is there a setting somewhere or something I can hack that will turn on the feature that will automatically enable data to retrieve your mms just like I had on the note? Its a bit hard to believe they'd have it on there then disable it on their brand new one. Not everyone likes to have data on all day :|
Thanks guys
Do you have Auto-Retrieve set to on in the messaging app? Just checking.

Hey, I had the same problem and I just fixed it. it will take you about 10 seconds.
1. go to mobile networks in wireless and networks.
2. choose access point names
3. menu button and choose New APN.
4. Im on AT&T so this is what I put (may be different if you have some other carrier)
Name: ATT PHONE
APN: Phone
that's all you have to put, everything else will already have values in there so dont change them.
5. once youre done with this just choose the APN you just created and your MMS will work.
**If you have a carrier other than AT&T then maybe this will work exactly the same, just find a phone with the same carrier and copy what's already there.
Thanks for the tip jon, however it still didnt work for me

Oh, that explains it. you could probably use the same method but copy the info from another phone using the Optus network. for example, here in the US, AT&T has several settings that I can choose from so if one doesn't work I can switch to another (which I did by inputting the info manually)
Maybe Optus has more than one setting so you can just use another. borrow a smartphone from someone and see what settings they have, if its different than what you're using now, try the one they have.
Hi
I also have this issue but it is important to note that there is nothing wrong with the MMS settings. The problem is caused by the S3 requiring Mobile Networking to be active to send and receive MMSs, but I choose to keep Mobile Network disabled unless I specifically wish to use it.
On my previous mobile of another make, even with Mobile Network disabled, the network would come to life to send and receive MMSs and then switch off again. The S3 does not behave this way and needs the Mobile Network to be specifically enabled manually.
This is an irritation! I would love to know if anyone has a fix or workround for this.
So.. there isn't a work around because its how they designed the phone eh. Is it something that they can tweak in a custom rom? Or do I just have to wait until the release the new galaxy note and hope they they put it back in again?

are you on AT&T? If so, with the Galaxy S the problem is not with your phone's settings but on AT&T's end. turns out that sometimes your phone just disconnects from their network and they have to reset it--takes the only about 2 minutes to do over the phone.
It's on US Cellular, calling then would fix it though?

Im not sure how US Cellular works. I have AT&T. before you called them you can check your settings and make sure mobile data is turned on and you can also check your APN settings. on my GS2 I have 2 settings for APN, one is AT&T the other is Cingular. on my Wife's GS3 she was having MMS issues so I added a second APN to her phone and it worked--for a while then it happened again, called AT&T and it was something on their end.

apn missing mms protocol settings

Hi this is an odd one, but here goes. I am on Solavei and have to manually set apns well recently after reflash, the apn setting for mms protocol is completely missing. Checked the factory tmobile apns and they don't show it either. I have no idea how this happened but it's driving me crazy. I've reset and flashed 3 different roms all with the same issue. Any ideas or input would be much appreciated. As a result of no mms protocol, I can no longer send or receive mms.

lol I have done that. There is an entire field "mms protocol" missing from the apn settings on 3 roms that I've tried. i'm concerned that I somehow jacked something up during one of my flashes but I can't understand how it would affect all my installs unless they are from the same source.

lol what you guys aren't getting is I know all my settings. So slow down before you answer please. I know what my apn settings should be. I've done this before. The problem is that under apn settings in my phone, there is no longer a field for mms protocol. Without said field, I can't change the protocol to the correct setting and hence am not getting or sending mms.
Did you ever find a solution? I'm trying to enable MMS on my LG GTab and there are no MMS fields in the APN settings.

In your mobile networks find the APN names. If there is no explicit MMS section, there is a PROTOCOL section or something like it where you would add "mms" in the new APN you would create.
This page will give some basic insight, but might not need to be followed exactly--tailor to your needs.

lol at the previous poster doing exactly the same thing ... again. You guys, the problem isn't what setting to use OR where to use the setting. The problem is there is literally no place to put in the setting that you need. The field "MMS Protocol" is not there.... you simply cannot enter the information that you need to. It's obvious that it's in the APN settings where you can change all the other related fields. Funny how two years apart, people are not reading and spewing the same stuff...
Anyway, apologies for resurrecting this, yet again. I got a new phone recently and I am having the same issue. I'm looking for this field but it's not available. This was actually the most relevant thread that I've found after a bunch of searching. So, if anyone found a solution (for this or any other phone/tablet), please tell!

Maybe the rom's don't have that setting? Same thing if you create a new APN?
Correct, it is not in the default APN nor available when creating a new APN. Unfortunately, I am stuck with a phone that has no custom roms at the moment. The question is whether this setting is actually missing (not displayed) AND unsupported (not implemented) or whether it is simply missing (not displayed) in the rom. There seems to be very little online that I can find about this other than threads which mention that the "MMS protocol" should be x, y, z for the APN of a particular network. Basically, all my searches turn up nothing as to "why" this is missing and whether (or not) there is anything that can be done about it.

Carrier probably crippled the feature in their factory rom--which means it is available, but not displayed--they don't want anyone messing with it.
So all you gotta do is find how to edit the file in which that information is stored, and I bet it's really easy.
Good luck.

While I don't disagree with you that there is probably a file somewhere that deals with this...I disagree that it is easy. That is, it would be easy...if the information on how to do it and/or where to find it were actually easy to find
I also disagree that this is simply due to a carrier-based rom. First reason is that this phone is an international, factory unlocked phone and the rom comes directly from the manufacturer. While it's possible that manufacturers themselves don't want you to change this setting, that would explain the second problem I have. I have a slightly older phone with a custom rom which also doesn't have this setting. It's possible that phone doesn't support that setting anyhow...but I don't feel like buying a bunch of other phones just to look into this one thing.
Anyway... none of this stuff about *me* is actually even relevant. I think our discussion still doesn't help people find what they are looking for. So, let's leave it at that and maybe someone will stop by here sooner than later and know the answer (and then also post the answer) about if this is "unlockable" or it's permanently missing for whatever reason.

Then the factory was very lucky in locking in just precisely the APN you need in your country for your carrier. That doesn't sound like an unlocked international device to me.
See if there is a way to add a new APN specifically for MMS. MMS settings can be excluded from APN because they are meant to be in a separate APN.

Sorry...not sure I follow the relationship here... And unlocked phone is not attached to a carrier. I bought it unlocked, unattached to a carrier, and I am using it on a carrier here, without the need to unlock it. How exactly does that mean that the factory locked something on it...
Just because there is no "MMS protocol" setting in the APN settings doesn't mean my phone is completely gimped.

I created a new APN with just mms in the "APN type", saved, went back in to edit and see no difference in the available settings. On the APN selection screen, this particular APN did not have a "checkbox" on the right side, so it was different due to the APN type.

I'm glad you gave it a try.
Every carrier's APN's are different--a factory unlocked phone has to allow for changes to the APN and one can only assume, to the MMSC. Did you put the other APN settings in yourself?
Have you asked the factory or tried support from the manu?
What kind of phone do you have--Amaze 4G? Which region?
It's been years and I'm having the same issue, has anyone found the solution?
Edit: By years I mean this thread, not me having the issue.
I have a S7 Edge.
In the APN Settings, there seems to be everything except the option for MMS Protocol. :/
This is the first time I've seen someone with my exact problem...it appears no one has the answer yet? OP, did you ever figure it out?

i am using the C6802 on T-Mobile without issue. I think i see a typo in your settings, under MMSC... toward the end it should be 'mms', not 'mmd'.
Edit: you are probably doing this but of course you have to save the APN after entering the info, and then click the dot to enable it

i am using the C6802 on T-Mobile without issue. I think i see a typo in your settings, under MMSC... toward the end it should be 'mms', not 'mmd'.

I changed it but it still doesn't work for some reason. I don't understand it worked fine when I had my other one.

just letting you know, i got my girlfriend an xperia z, and it came with a brand new sim card, so i put it in and got the same error as you did, since there is no service or account associated with the sim card. when i click on the notification it goes to a page with different T-Mobile service plans. i wonder, did your service run out or something?
also i see in the screenies that you are getting a signal, but probably your account is not active to actually use data.

No Data Connection

Hi guys,
1/8gb 2100 UK model
Omate Truesmart 20140328.182336 v2.0
No changes to stock
No pc used.
I've turned everything on in sim management. Data connection is saying Vodafone UK, 3G is enabled, network mode is auto, APN set to wap. vodaphone . The only thing i can spot is in Sim information, default settings are all greyed out apart from data connection which is bright white and states vodafone uk. Im receiving texts and voice calls, network bars are showing on status bar but no E, G, 3G. Can someone help please as ive tried two different sim cards with no results. Cheers
Double check vodaphone that the APN settings are correct. AT&T users are having an issue where it APN says AT&T but the APN settings themselves are wrong.
Sorry I don't have a patch ready.

Glad you got data working. Still not sure why they have not at least used the APN list from my patch. That one covers far more carriers.

Yes the Ubuntu sounds great but haven't heard any recent news, not that I've been searching for news on it. Thanks for your help.

Same here, I've been through a hard reset, rewriting all the APN settings, copying them over from another Vodafone device, and the wretched data connection icon just has an inscrutable tiny blue blob on it. SMS works, but it's a paperweight if it has to be tethered all the time.

Think we need @mcteague to state exactly what settings he has entered. He did send me a PM earlier so thank you however even after trying the settings listed under the link he sent (they were slightly different to other settings I found on Vodafones website) it still would not work.
Exact steps and details would be greatly appreciated and also if you have flashed any patches etc....
Thanks.

I havent flashed anything mate, this was while on complete stock. One setting was entering PAP, as it was NOT SET, i think that did it on mine. Anyway im on Lokifish's rom now and that contains most apn settings.

Thanks, adding PAP authentication seems to have resolved it for me; I also added WAP to the APN types in addition to default and MMS.

Mine will still not work I have tried 4 or 5 different settings found at various places including 2 different settings for Contract connections on Vodafones own Website. Without sounding like broken record can someone PLEASE post the exact settings they have entered, all of them?
Thanks.

Which Rom are you using, the 1900/2100 security patched one or the 1900 rooted one? If the latter, any issues on the 2100 etc...
Thanks.
