I bought a lenovo a806 from China with loads of bloatware and I tried to change the ROM. Apparently, I also wiped /dev/nvram. Long story short, I tried all the methods I could google, even bricked the phone a few times, only to realize that no matter what i did I could not solve the problem with /dev/nvram.
I think the only solution is to find a nvram.img or .bin which would work on my device, maybe from someone who owns one? Is this true? Does it have to be the exact same device? And is this the only way? I've also tried to use SN write tool but for some reason it gets stuck on:
COM port searching and preloader handshake ok
COM port searching and Kernel handshake
Error: Connect failed
There may be other ways that I don't know but with mtk droid tools it is possible to back it up (creating a .bin from /dev/nvram and a .tar from /data/nvram) so, if anyone would be so kind as to send me these files, I would be most grateful.
Thanks!
Found the solution (thanks to Cihad for his precious help):
The forum doesn't allow me to post a link to the instruction video, but you can find youtube video entitled "(solved) Lenovo a806 imei invalid" by Cihad Eren.
1. install stock in SP flash tools (option format, not just download)
2. generate MP0B_001_NEW file (in description of youtube video entitled "Lenovo A850+ MT6592m Imei Change / İmei Değişimi") and rename it to MP0B_001
slowly:
use root explorer and delete /data/nvram/md5/NVRAM/NVD_IMEI/MP0B_001
replace with generated file
wait 5 secs
reboot
Hi!
Thank you very much!I try it If I need that. Can you tell me what ROM you use now in Lenovo A806.
I need some because I am not happy with my now. Thanks!
Cheers!!!
Got a phone for my father, brand new with "invalid IMEI" ..trying to find a way to fix it
Damn all people assume it has root access, my father doesn't even had a smartphone until now, he won't need root access anytime soon, still struggling to make it work as a "regular" phone, damn this invalid IMEI

After a lot of digging it seems it might be the "Chinese" version of the phone which doesn't work with European sims ..I might be wrong who knows
It's not that I can do much about it, my father kept the phone as it wanted to use it as a "small tablet" ..so no fuss about it. I might try it but most things point that's the Chinese variation and that's why I'm getting invalid imei
P.S. If I find some free time I might try this to my fathers phone ..I would need root access and a recovery to flash it won't I? although I'm hesitating a bit, although I'm no kid.. but have you had a moaning parent over your ear? ..if I brick it it would oh dear why did I bother? ..if he's happy let him be

Hi guys, I know this is an another post on the same problem, but I follow all trhead on this argument without result.
I have an samsung galaxy s2 whit null emai. I lost it! But I have an old backup of EFS (I thinks it is corrupt because if I restore it, does not change anything )
I tried to restore whitouth success from this backup
I tried factory restore
I tried to recreate the EFS folder whit your two guides
I tried to flash the original firmware from odin whit auto reboot - repartition - F. reset time (I use the file from original firmware but I do not get even a generic imei, it stay null)
I don't know what I can do, and I can't pay 100$ for jtag box only for re enter my own emai
I have another samsung galaxy s2 where the software working (my sister's phone) but has hardware problems. Can I make a full dump of rom and pass it in my phone?
there is a way?
P.S. sorry for my bad english.
updating: I tried to put the EFS folder from my sister's phone to mine but the imei still remains null.
P.S. Sorry for the wrong section
Trying to put the EFS folder from another phone into yours will never work, and changing the IMEI is illegal in most places anyway if you use a particular piece of hardware that mobile repair shops/Samsung authorised repairers use to 'write' the IMEI back to the phone if you bork it.
If you don't have a good EFS backup, it's a service centre job normally, but there are quite a few threads on here which claim to be able to fix it. You might want to look at those; I can see you've obviously tried some things, unless you want to take it in to be repaired, keep trying stuff.
I don't recommend you try to fix this yourself with a JTAG box/similar for two reasons:-
1) You'll be paying for something you'll never use again
2) If you mess it up, it will be a service centre job anyway (or if you slip with the soldering iron, you could damage the phone beyond repair) which you'll pay for plus the cost of the box which you'll never user again.
So take it to someone who knows what they're doing.
No. Trying to copy details from another phone will not fix the problem because the IMEI is a unique hardware identifier which is assigned to the particular radio in your phone.
Same here!
I purchased this phone from a eBay seller and had it shipped to India. Didn't compare IMEI with the one under the battery (stupid, I know) when opening the package, or before flashing to JB firmware. Next thing I know, phone calls are not going and emergency calls only available, even though data network is working fine.
What I did after that (no particular order):
1. Flashed with stock GB, ICS and JB
2. Rooted
3. Tried fixing by steps in http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1264021&highlight=recovery+IMEI
4. Tried fixing using SGII_Repair
5. Tried fixing using HC-kTool
All failed!
Next option looks like buying a SRS licence and changing IMEI to what is there under the battery. Would this work safely, and restore order to normal in phone? Anyone!! Phone is perfectly new, no signs of use, so assume that I was shipped a proper piece.

No no, I do not want to change imei! I want to put my imei xD and I think this is not illegal, I tried with my sister's efs only for using an clean EFS folder where I can work, I know all EFS are proprietary for each device.
Anyway the soldering are not a problem, but I agree with first point.
I have another question, on GT-I9100 whitouth imei is possible to put the usb in qualcomm mode? i tried with
su -c 'am start -n com.sec.android.app.phoneutil/com.sec.android.app.phoneutil.USBSettings'

@diffuser911 Unfortunately, I tried the same as you without success :\ Can you enter in qualcomm mode? perhaps you can solve with NV tool (it is in EFS PRO)...I dunno

No I didn't try because in the tutorial they refer to phones with a generic imei and mine have empty imei, I would not waste money if the software don't work.
I hope you solve .
I wanted to try the tool of @lyriquidperfection here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1308546
But I have not found a way to get qualcomm mode

Hello everyone here on XDA !!!
First i want to say sorry if there is another thread with this particular problem, searched the forums but i didn't find something related to my problem
Here's the thing:
A friend gave me an Atrix 4G for free, with no baseband and no IMEI number. All i know about the device is that he used OTA update and went wrong.
Here is what i know about the device
Stock 2.3.4 no ROOT and no Bootloader Unlocked
System version
45.31.0.MB860.Retail.en.GB
Build number
4.5.2A-74_OLE-31
(i think the phone was not on any UK Carrer because the system version, i saw that those who are branded have carrer name not retail, altough i don't know what "retail" comes from, maybe the phone is unlocked by factory)
What i tried to do to solve problem
Searched internet , found something about radio issue, flashed different radios via fastboot with no luck.
Found a stock image on internet with the same build nr. and system version. it's .sbf.gz file.
i used RSD even tough i read it can brick my device for good but i said wtf (turned off the phone and enter RSD mode with Power+Vol. Down button)
1 used the file as it is XXXXX.sbf.gz and rsd unpacked it and flashed it.RSD said "passed" the phone booted up with "insert SIM" message.Rebooted to insert sim but again no baseband and no imei number
2 i unpacked the archive with 7zip to get the XXXX.sbf file, RSD said passed the phone booted up with "insert sim" message, rebooted and again no baseband and imei...
in both cases my baseband number is N_01.100.00R ( i don't know if these are correct, i think this imei number is the one from witch device was .sbf extracted or something like that and after reboot the data from ROM is not the same as the data from NVRAM)
Mod Edit: Don't post your IMEI on a website full of hackers, silly
I also found something about NVRAM and it's data that could possibly be corrupted but nothing about how to restore it, and messing around with the NVRAM could lead to a dead device
This is not the first time in android world my friends have smartphones and ask me to root and instal custom roms on them and every time they have problems with their devices i help, but i do not own a smartphone because i can't afford one and that's why i want so bad to make this atrix work
Again i'm sorry if this is a duplicate thread but i searched around xda and google but didn't found the answer , maybe i'm too dumb....
EDIT: well guys i did it, if someone encounters this problem, here is how i fixed it:
1. RSD the apropiate .sbf for atrix, and let it boot for the first time
2. reboot or pull the battery out and start the phone.enter fastboot mode and flash a radio or the same radio as in your .sbf file
done! now the phone will have imei and baseband after reboots
edit 2: guys today my phone rebooted and i have no baseband and imei, the phone worked for a day and a half, rebooted twice, but today was the 3'rd reboot and went band, i flashed the radio but nothing, please help me
real cool guys....

First, CALM DOWN.
Now that we are all cool, this is a forum, not a help desk. If no one has posted anything is either this has been answered before or that no one has an proper answer.
This has been in fact, discused a few days back and we reacghed the conclusion that there was nothing we can possibly do to fix it, other than take it back to motorola's rma
Console
well thank's for the answer, one more question, can i acces a debug console or whatever it's called, i mean there is an error after first reboot and it's keept somewhere in a tex file i guess, how can i access the "guts" of this device?, since i don';t have any idea where to take it in my country, and no GSM Service was unable to help me with an answer i want to mess around with it and learn more about android

I guess it can be accesed somehow, but never researched enough. On hte developemnt subforum are a few post discussing somethin similar to this, perhaps their op can help you out
The short history:
Playing with an "official" ROM I bricked my phone. I was able to recover it, everything works properly except the telephony, I can't make phone calls :crying:.
The full story:
The behaviour of my phone is different depending on which slot I put my SIM card.
If I put my SIM on the first slot, when the phone reboots it doesn't ask for the PIN and doesn't recognise the card. But if I switch to plane mode and I reboot the phone, the phone then asks for the PIN number. If I introduce an incorrect one, it recognises that it is incorrect ans ask for a new one (then it is reading the card to know that), but when I introduce the correct one, it does no connect whit my carrier (of course, before that I switch off the plane mode).
If I put my SIM on the second slot, it asks for the PIN number but similarly to the previous case, It doesn't connect with the carrier.
In both cases dialling *#06# on the phone, I can read the two IMEI and the MEID codes and they agree with the codes printed on the phone box.
Moreover, if I install an app (I tested with some of them) that reads the SIM card it can read the name of my carrier and all the contacts that are on my SIM.
Things that I tried:
0) I tried to use my SIM in another phone, and it works. I also tried to use another SIM in my phone, and I have the same problem.
1) I tried to install several ROM's:
- Jeff72ROM (v1.30 and v1.32) from: http://www.needrom.com/category/zte/serial-nubia/z11-mini/
- stock ROM from http://4pda.ru/forum/index.php?showtopic=776504&st=0#entry52586301
- And experimental port of CM14 (I can't remember where I found it)
- CUOCO92 from http://blog.grossoshop.net/nubia-z11-mini-rom-gs-by-cuoco92/
- An "official" ROM: NX529J_Z69_EN_NSXPK1JD00K132 from http://www.nubia.com/es/support.php?a=phone&pid=8 (this is the ROM that bricked my phone, I modified it in order to avoid the problem).
To install all these ROM I used TWPR from http://www.androidbrick.com/download/z11-mini-nx529j-twrp-root/
When I dial *#*#4636#*#* on the phone it says that the type of preferred net is WCDMA. It seems to me that these nets are not in use in Europe (I live in Spain). Itried to change that, but I couldn't. Then I applied the patch http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2394689 but it doesn't work. I also tried to modify the properties in "build.prop" without success. Now I think this is not the problem since all the ROM's have similar properties, in special CUOCO92 that is reported to work in Italy.
What I think it happened:
When I tried to flash the "official" ROM it failed because it tried to write too many files in the "system" partition (I hadn't this problem with any other ROM). Then I realised that my phone was bought in China and this ROM was for the international version, perhaps the international version has a different partition scheme).
What I did is to remove some very easy to install apps (i.e. google maps) in the ROM in order that the remaining apps fit in the partition, but then I made the mistake to activate the option in TWPR of making "rm -rf" instead of a "format". It seems to me that with this option the rm command followed some link to another partition and removed some files that shouldn't be removed, and those files are not in any ROM.
Does anybody think that this makes sense?
What can I do?
nice, super description. i am stuck with my nubia z11 mini, brought from china. installed 1.23, recently updated new 1.36 but there is no google play, other all working perfectly.
Hi,
I have the same problem. Did you find a solution?
Thanks in advance, F.
---------- Post added at 08:17 AM ---------- Previous post was at 07:44 AM ----------
@jbartolo
I have the NX529J and the option wasn't changed, it was still format. I don't think the problem is related to the partition.
@jbartolo

Since you can have access to another z11 mini please check these guides

Also you will see more guides in the mentioned site and maybe you can fix your phone. Unfortunately i dont have access to another z11 mini to try. Wish you good luck.
@jbartolo
I did some progress with my phone.
I flash it with the chinese 1.23 rom(its the one in fastboot structure as i understand,a service rom) using Xiaomi's MiFlash tool.
Phone came up with null IMEI'S and MEID. Then i write missing IMEI'S & MEID ,with some tools from the site i mentioned you in my previous post.
So everything is in place now. IMEI'S & MEID.
Now when i dal *#06#* and *#*#4636#*#* i can see Imei's & Meid.
Also i can change the option from WCDMA preferred to other options and stick with them (*#*#4636#*#*) and i can see in phone settings and SIM menu all the options.
Both sim trays read my sim and ask for pin.
In SIM menu, i can search for avalaible carriers but the only problem now is that when i'm trying to connect to my sim carrier unfortunately phone can't register to my carrier.
I'm trying to figure out how to solve this issue.
You can try what i did and maybe you are more lucky than me and can fix your phone.
Hope to hear from you soon and maybe we can share some more ideas.

You could contact the owner of www.androidbrick.com in case he has one. Or you can ask @jbartolo to provide a backup of his other device. Taking a qcn backup is a pretty simple procedure

Thanks to my friend tassos_chry, my phone is fixed.
problem solved: Z11 mini working again
All,
the AndroidBrick method worked.
First I tried it with my own qcn backup but that didn'twork. I received a qcn (Chinese, 64 GB) from AndroidBrick and I followed the repair guide. My Nubia Z11 mini is working again.
The solution for our problem is that you need a qcn backup from a working phone because when you install the wrong rom (international version) the modemst-partions are corrupt.
I'll prepare a backup qcn from my phone (changed IMEI) and I can send it to you.
Send me a mail at [email protected].

Z11 mini NX529J problem
First of all:
>i bought an used NX529J
>first sim slot doesn't work at all, second slot recognize sim card
^-i don't know if it's software or hardware related
>no connect to carrier
>cannot unlock sim card with PIN
What i tried:
>flashed XenonHD Rom
>*#06#* : only MEID, but it is the same number, as the first IMEI number
>*#*#4636#*#* : first IMEI number
>tried all sim settings, but no connect to carrier
Has some an idea?

I followed the same repair guide on AndroidBrick (using a vietnamite qcn file I just download) with no success because when I started restoring the qcn I received a message that My Phone is not compatible and after rebooting ...adviced me 2 times that the update did not success.
I will be happy to give my email address for your (or even other God) help.
Have a nice day and a good way
I've bought it like this and i thought it can be repaired, i had a similar problem with my i9500 a while back and i fixed it by flashing some modem on the right firmware, i don't even know what i had done but it took me 3 full days of trying, truly frustrating. I haven't got the phone's imei as it came without a box or accessories hope you can help me out !
Here is what i've tried so far :
- Flashing 3 different 6.0.1 stock firmwares, none of them worked and after every single flash i would encounter device root key error, i have no idea why but it's easily solvable by flashing some kernel as i've seen on some ytb tutorial.
- Backuped the efs folder from phone root on PC then deleting it from the phone root, restart the phone and proceed with replacing the nv_data.bin and the other similar-named file with the ones i backuped then changing permissions to 1001. <--- This i've seen on some forum, i thought it might help, but it didn't change anything!
I really hope you can help me out, i'm bored of searching the web for answers, most of solution i've found are related to some z3x box or octopus and i believe these cost a lot of money and there is no service in my city that can repair phone's imei
Heloo
Hi i had same problem 920f after flash a wrong rom the only fix is octopus box ...they must rewrite imei it cost me 30 euros!
As i said, there is no such service in my city (I live in Braila, since you're romanian too ), but i'm pretty sure it can be solved without special equipment. I think the owner flashed the 6.0 using odin and spooked when saw fake imei then rushed to sell it. It happened the same to me 2 years ago with a i9500 but i eventually solved it without prior backup.
High guys wondering if anyone can help, i have an Alcatal pixi 3 (8) model 8070, its stuck in a bootloop, i cant find a rom for it, but according to an old thread on here, i can use the Alcatel Mobile upgrade tool 4.4.5 wondering if anyone can help, cant seem to get Alcatel Mobile upgrade software to connect to the servers to grab the upgrade file, it keeps returning a network error message.
I have search google, there are 2 videos up on youtube about it, but they are in Spanish and i cant understand what they are saying.
Can someone help please. as id like to get this tablet working again. Thank you
One of the videos is here. if someone could translate the fix that would be awesome.
