Well,it's already 4/225
it looks like our device are dead and this place is abandoned, however, beside of that are you really sure it works in hdpi device?
i checked bootanimation's resolution and it was 320*200 so i'm freaked out now
get me out of this confusion!

It looks so:crying:
However
yes it does work on HDPI as long as the bootanimation resolution is smaller than the screen resolution
Tried it on Xperia Arc S, Sola, P, U, Neo V, Neo L, Mini Pro
In the new bootanimations it doesn't require you to make pictures that perfectly fit the screen
instead it takes the picture and align it in the middle (Vertically & Horizontally) and fills every thing else in black
so the bootanimation looks big on MDPI screen, Small on HDPI Screens, Tiny on XHDPI and so on :highfive:
:silly:

I haven't yet flashed the bootanimation, I was wondering if there is a way for me to backup the old one in case I decide I want to revert back to the CM one?
EDIT: I figured out how to backup the original one. I couldn't flash the zip, it gave me a status 6 error (tried redownloading the zip but it didn't help). After extracting bootanimation.zip I manually copied it to system/media and it's working like a charm.

Hi everyone i've been looking for a BIOS-like bootanimation for Xperia Ray, unfortunately there was none.
So I made one myself with Xperia Ray ST18a specs, ICS 4.0.4 Stock ROM and Compilation 4.1.B.0.587......... but i wasn't happy at all.
After a week of testing finally i have something nice, a hybrid BIOS startup sequence + Stock ICS XPERIA animation logo.
Here is the preview.

Nice! Can't have a HTC BIOS boot on a Ray ffs
Thanks for the apretiation... if you see something odd, please tell me, i'll try to correct any issue.
By the way, make it a flashable zip is on the ToDo list, just need to learn how to do it.

Indeed, as devstaff said, it is an animation, just a bunch of png images made with all the specs of ST18a.
You can see general specs here
CPU info was taken from wiki.
P.D. I forgot to mention that only difference between ST18a & ST18i seems to be 3G Network bands.
Lol, at first I thought "one of the usual BIOS screens" but it is different, it actually rocks! I don't usually like this kind of stuff but this I love very much
Flashable zip Done!
I tried to do a Flashable zip all by myself but i didn't really figured out the way to do it, so i took one flashable bootanimation and edit the script.
Results are available for all, customized BIOS bootanimation is now in flashable zip too.

I'm glad that you like it, this was a personal "project" i decided to make public "just in case", just a little retribution to XDA Developers...

then edit desc.txt on boot animation.zip...make sure it the resolution is the same as the images...if you done it correctly then you will get bootanimation in full screen like Trolling Dancing

Use batch resize in photoshop to resize multiple images in one go rather than one at a time
http://digital-photography-school.com/how-to-batch-resize-in-photoshop
I modified the stock boot animation, and thought I'd share.
Here's a few flashable zip files. I made them with "ZipMe". Just flash any of them in recovery, and you should be good to go. The only file they touch is your bootanimation.zip in system/media.
edit: I edited the stock GPe boot animation as well. Here are the versions that I think turned out well enough to share. The "GPe Fixed" version is exactly the same as the stock animation, but it makes a full rotation instead of half. Enjoy.
GPe Twist
GPe Vibrations
GPe Eclipse
GPe Polar Inversion
GPe Pastels
GPe Fixed

Green
Inverted
Sepia

I have not played with the boot animations with my Ultra.
Does it work on regular ROMS or only CM based?
It works on any rom as long as you've got recovery to flash it with. Your boot animation is in system/media. You could unzip my file and replace your stock boot animation (bootanimation.zip) manually if you'd like. That way you can backup your stock animation file.
I used to replace it with a Penguins (NHL) 3d Animation but for some reason never got to play with the Ultra.
Time to test this

I think I'll add some more variations later on today, once I get off work. I'm thinking maybe a black and white version, or an inverted one. I'll update the first post once I finish.
