I am curious if anyone knows if motorola will allow motocare to be purchased for the Nexus 6.
Their deductible is cheaper than squaretrade so I would like to use it.

If they end up selling the Nexus 6 directly which I suspect they are going to, then they will most likely sell MotoCare for it as well. It's a great plan, I have it on both my Moto X's. They do advanced replacements which gives it another huge one-up over Squaretrade. I'm about to pay the $35 deductible and get a new 2013 Moto X just to get one in pristine condition to hold on to for sentimental reasons.
Not a bad idea but honestly a day apart and no announcement, I thiink that we should not get expectations high.
Moto Care
Motorola states they will not offer MotoCare for the nexus 6 per their forums https://forums.motorola.com/posts/1b06206026

I completely agree. I will be returning the one I purchased from Motorola as soon as I can order one through T-Mobile. I need some sort of insurance for such an expensive purchase.

JUMP is not for me. I thought about it alot, and realized that its a gimmick to keep people coming back to T-Mobile when new phones come out. It's exactly like leasing a car. I like to own my own car and my own phone outright, and pay cheaper insurance for both

I totally understand, JUMP1 is way better than JUMP2. However, it's still just leasing a phone until you finally separate. i figured I can make out more by buying my phones outright, and selling the old one on Swappa. I only upgrade once a year to the new Nexus, I don't get multiple phones a year. So financially, I am better off without jump.
Off topic, I was seeing a girl from Valley Stream. Nice town, too close to Green Acres though lol. I work close to Long Beach.

Not sure but it does look like you can buy it for the Moto X regardless if you purchased it from moto or from a carrier. There is a drop down that allows you to select your carrier and if you purchased it in the last 30 days.

They aren't free. They are subsidized by the 2 year contract Verizon makes you sign. You are paying for the phone in installments. Phew...glad I got that off my chest. Carry on.

Okay, I don't want to come off strong, and this isn't only aimed at you, but I'm tired of seeing posts like this. I understand pointing out the distinction that the phones aren't actually free, but the practicality of the matter is that if you're going to be paying for your phone service whether you upgrade or not, then the phone IS free because it's not costing you any more by upgrading than it is to keep using your old phone. Sure, you're agreeing that you'll be keeping the service for another two years (or pay an early termination fee), but how often do most people switch mobile carriers?
Jeesh.
What you said is absolutely true. If you are going to stay with Verizon anyway, you might as well leverage their NE2 and upgrade deals to get cool phones. I just would like for people to understand that the phones come at a cost. If some great deal comes along where you'd save a bunch of money if you switched, you can't. If you can't afford a smartphone anymore...too bad. You still have to pay for it.
I'll probably mention it again at some point. My apologies in advance.

That's okay! LOL. Thanks for taking my comment in stride.
Actually, there's nothing preventing you from still using some old flip phone and not having the data charges any more, if you decide to change. The contract is only that you keep your phone service. There's no requirement that you keep your level of data plan, or that you even keep using your smart phone at all. You could sell it (they might not like it but they don't actually do anything about it) and use the funds to buy an old flip phone plus have some money left over, unless you keep your old phones (I wouldn't, I'd sell or recycle them for money), then it would be all profit.
Interesting... I was going to buy a Samsung Fascinate from a guy who bought it through Verizon for his kid, and then decided that they didn't really need data. He had already switch out phones. When I ran the ESN it came up bad. So I had him call Verizon and they said he couldn't drop the data plan, so he didn't sell me the plan.
And honestly, that makes sense. Otherwise everyone would grab a $400 phone for some cheap price, then immediately switch to some cheaper phone and sell the expensive one. So I don't think its as simple as you make it sound to drop the data plan.
Hmmm looks like i can only "annual" upgrade at Verizon, if i want the cheap prices i would have to wait till june.
might just get a DInc for 99.99, then do the Verizon trade in on the Eris for 132....or strip it down and use it as a VOIP phone or something for the house.
Do you have the link to the Verizon trade in handy?

FYI, depending on the phone, sometimes http://wsf4.letstalk.com/flipswap/modelselectionpopup.htm gives much more. I checked one phone a couple months ago and it was more than double on one than the other. And it was vice-versa with a different phone I had. Note that I haven't actually used either service yet, so I can't rate them.
I sold them on eBay for much more $$$!

Probably when a newer and more attractive phone comes out...another month or two would be my guess for the corporate stores to drop the price to 250
You can get a good deal from best buy mobile, amazon, wirefly, etc. If you want to buy the phone from verizon when the price drops other better devices will be out and you're not going to be able to resist them.

Will the entry of Droid 4 have any effect on the RaZr's prices?+ when is the Droid 4 coming anyways?
Also, what is the price in the USA right now? Somewhere it says 299$, somewhere else it says 730$...so how much does it cost?
299$ means only 13k in India, but it is sold for 34k...more than double...i wonder why?

Phones in the US sell at a discount when you sign a two year contract with the service provider it's not like in India. So 300 in contract is the price with contract through Verizon Wireless and 730 is without a contract. Some third party vendors will sell for cheaper though that's how a lot of us got the phone for .01 cent with a contract.

Hmmm...so does that mean you practically pay only the provider & not the manufacturers? I mean what would Motorola earn out of 0.1 Cent?
Anyways, just wanted to know if the 34,000 price tag is valid and when is the price dropping...my birthday comes in less than a month (23 Jan) and this looks like the best gift my lovely granny can give me, so was thinking of how much will it drop to?

Yes that's basically right the providers have contracts with the manufacturers for the phones and the providers usually lose money on the devices when they give them at a discount but they make much more money on the service so it's worth it to lock customers into a two year contract for service. I don't think anyone can really predict the exact moment the price will drop for you especially in India but I mean technology moves so fast these days I'd guess another month or two and you'll see a drop of 3000-5000 or so.

Man... the reason I ask is because I got a "spare" Rezound from my last upgrade before Verizon started the no unlimited data with upgrade clause. I've been listing it on craigslist for $325 but so far have only gotten trade requests with new and used Nexus. I am interested in cash only - poor grad student - so I guess trading for the Nexus and then trying to flip that won't put me ahead from what you said.
I'll lower the price to $300 and see what happens...

im in no way affiliated with this but have you tried swappa ?
its like ebay for android. Dmeadows013 sold his on there for $260
ebay prices
Looking at ebay sales I would say $100-$150 and that looks to be people not including the headphones.
So I've been thinkign about buying a note 2. Have purchased a razr last year (13 months ago) I'm not elegible for an upgrade; but it has god awful battery life (it predates the maxx; which pissed me off).
-
So I wanted to check verzion final price on the phone; went to website; add it to cart month-to-month; then wanted to see if i could actually purchase it. Nope; have to add a plan (as a side note the plans have been raised to $20 so without discountes the $80 plan is now $100). Wiat this is month-to-month - I don't need (or want) a plan so I hit the chat button. Rep comes on and I tell them the problem. You have to add a plan they tell me. We can always remove it later if you want but to purchase you will need (another) plan. But I don't want a freaking plan I just want the phone. I'm sorry we can't sell you a phone without selling you a plan but ....
-
So not only do they charge more for the phone than any other brand (at&t, sprint, ...) and then they break features on the phone adding their own local hacks (block call and similar); they won't even sell the bloody thing. Maybe that is a hint !
I ran into that too, but I went to a local vz store and bought mine the day they where released with no problem.
You should also realize you don't need to buy your phone from Verizon, there are many other ventures that are selling the Note 2 both oncontract and off.
There site may just be flawed pick it up in store if you need.

I did find a use one for $450 that is tempting but I won't be going home for a couple of weeks; maybe I'll wait and see if it is still for sale - but i worry a bit about warranty; while $450 is a good price; at $600 or $650 which is more common I think maybe that warrany is worth the few extra dollars.

You're wasting your time (and money!) trying to buy from Verizon. It's extremely easy to pick one up BNIB from eBay or Craigslist. Worst case scenario you'll save $50. Best case you'll find somebody trying to offload a gift they don't want and save a lot more. Mine, the guy hadn't even taken out of the box. Found on Craigslist, he wanted $575.

Yea, that's me. Good to see you here, I still have two Rezounds.
I really loved that phone but they seem awfully slow and laggy now compared to the N2 when I play with them.
This is kinda funny, I have a 12 year old daughter that plays soccer and I help coach the team. One of the Moms from the team was telling me how much she hated her older android phone and was planning to use an upgrade to buy a new iphone (and lose her unlimited data plan to do it).
I showed her one of the ROMed and highly tweaked/unlocked etc Rezounds and offered to give it to her for free (and she could have kept her unlimited data package). She basically said "no thanks, I never want to see another android phone at this point"
She bought a new iphone the next day and when I asked her a few weeks later how she liked it she responded "I absolutely love it, this is what I should have bought in the first place"

I completely agree and I have an ipad2 (I'm typing on it rightnow)
I bought the ipad way back when they very first came out and it's the first apple product I have ever owned (except my 12 year old daughter has an ipod touch) It is the 64 gig with both WiFi and 3g. I have done Windows mods/repairs etc for years and home build all my PCs.
I really wanted an android tablet but all the android tablets that I tried back then sucked. They where all laggy/slow etc and the ipad just blew them away with its smooth glitch free operation.
I loved the ipad at first but the more I used it, the more the limitations of it really started to annoy me. Now, I hate the thing and would really like to sell it and buy an android tablet but I have so many apps etc in it (it is jailbroken) that I don't really want to dump it either.
The thing that really annoys the living sh** out of me is, I started posting on an apple message board (very similar to this one but only for iphones/ipads/ipods etc.) EVERY SINGLE TIME I tried to get help for something that irritated me about the ipad, I would get flamed like crazy by 50 a-holes claiming the ipad was absolutely perfect just the way it stood and if I didn't like it I was an idiot and should go buy something else.
I couldn't believe it, I was not trolling AT ALL, just asking legitimate questions and most of the posters (who where technically retarded) could not stand for anybody to post even the tiniest criticism of their Apple products.
I sort of addressed this at the start. First the note 2 is $700 at amazon and verizon; the $800 price is via samsung website which uses bestbuy. For $450 or $500 I would be willing to buy it used in the right situation (there was one 'new in box' for $450 but it sold pretty quickly). However at $625-$650 I tink I would rather have the warranty. Locally I've not seen one below $625 and on ebay folks are trying to sell them with cracked screens for > $600.

If that used one was a legitimate sale and not beat up (not a CL scam), it's already sold. That's dirt cheap for a GN2. Even bad esn GN2's sell on eBay for that much. A reasonable price for a like new GN2 will be between $5-600 on CL. More anywhere else online.

A less expensive option from Verizon.
If you are already 12 months or so into a contract with shared data, another option is to get it on a new line ($299) then cancel your old line and pay ETF (approx $230 if you're 12 months into your contract), total $529 plus tax from Verizon with full warranty and support. If you want to keep your old number just port it out to Google Voice.
I considered this when it first came out, and confirmed it would work at my Verizon store, but decided to pay full price to avoid entering yet another new 24 month contract.
Yea I thought of something similar; switching to at&t (I have another thread). The more I look at how these companies work the less I like them; Kind of hope google offers a (good) phone service alternative as is currently rumored. Its not just the prices but on top of the prices the crap they stuff/cram/ram/whatever up the users whatever.

To me Iphone users are weird. IOS 6 feels the the same as android but one has to pay for every useful app. Being locked into Apple's web browser and walled garden is crazy. People are ok with it and it blows my mind.

I use Dolphin on Android and they have a web app for IOS as well. There are options, but the majority of android users don't even know they can use a different browser, and they don't even care. The majority of android users don't take advantage of any/all of the features android offers over IOS, so it's not hard to see why IOS is perfectly fine for so many people.
If this is to be believed, VZW is going to carry the One along with the rest of the U.S. carriers. That's fantastic news for HTC as they've accomplished (selling the same device on all four U.S. carriers) what Samsung did with the SGS3 which was one of the cornerstones of its success. And HTC really needs some success. It also explains the appearance and disappearance of a red version of the One off of HTC's website.
"It looks like HTC’s One really will be the one flagship for the Taiwanese phone maker. When HTC announced the phone last month, it said the One would be sold at AT&T, Sprint and T-Mobile. A mention of Verizon was noticeably absent. However, Verizon will also carry the high-end Android device according to a source familiar with the situation. Its launch at Verizon, though, will trail the other U.S. carriers by a month or two as it winds its way through the testing process. HTC and Verizon representatives did not immediately respond to requests for comment."http://allthingsd.com/20130313/exclusive-htc-one-headed-to-verizon-too/
So do you think it'll be offered alongside the DNA or are the two devices too similar?
Even though I went from a DNA to a Note 2 and now back to a DNA, I will be buying the One the very minute it is available for Verizon. How's that for impact?
or just do this http://blog.htc.com/2013/03/htc-one-developer-edition/
If it does come to verizon and if I can sell my DNA on ebay for $600 then yes I may get it. If not then no
I have a feeling the resale value of the DNA might plummet when the One hits. Not saying the DNA isn't an amazing phone, but if you have to pick one of the two at similar prices... The only thing I can think of that would really retain the DNA's resale value would be if yours is already unlocked / rooted / s-off. Considering the post-OTA (and all new) phones cannot achieve this yet, I think it'll be a surge to the price for phone that already are unlocked.

Unfortunately, the developer edition looks like it is missing the all-important CDMA bands

Well you aren't getting a One then. The DNA isn't selling near $600, even right now. On Swappa and eBay, almost all of them are sub $500, some even below $450.
Man I sure as hell hope not being able to unlcock/root by the time this comes out doesn't happen. I'm like a 5 yr old waiting on christmas over here. I keep checking the forums ever couple hours lol
The one is a sweet phone but Im content with my DNA.

With my ebay skills 80% will sell $600.
20% it wont if my skills fail.
Also who knows what the outright price for the one will be if it does come to VZW.
It has very little impact to me as I love my DNA.
Sure people complain of battery life but I get a full day out of mine usually, they complain about only having 16 GB of internal memory but I use Spotify for my music and Drive for my pictures and most places I frequent have wifi. My 8MP camera takes lovely pictures and I already have a quad core processor with 2 GB of RAM. Speaker mode on the DNA is fabulous.
Also, I love having a pocketable 5 inch 1080p device.
Fyi I got a DNA that was used for a week off Craigslist for 425 with two cases and wireless charger...so remember that eBay will take fees from the seller...I just sold an iPhone 5 on eBay for 560 and eBay took 50 bucks just for the damn sale..and then PayPal takes 2% or something too...so yeah.

That phone will work in the U.S.data wise on Verizon in an LTE area (at this point NJ is almost fully blanketed where I live)....who uses their phone to talk anyway? LOL
And once Verizon implements VOLTE, you could in theory use that phone on Verizon here. So if this was 2014 that phone would be perfect!

if you could sell it for $600 now, that would be pretty amazing....let alone a few months from now with another big HTC device about to launch (or having launched already)
you would need to probably package a ton of accessories with it to come near that

depends on if they carry multiple storage versions...iirc there are 16/32/64 variants (though i actually havent seen a 64gb variant for sale) for the htc one
so it *might* be something like 599/699/749 or some variation in there off contract
on contract would probabaly be 199/299 of 16/32 which is what id assume verizon would carry (just a guess)
and dna would probably drop to 149 or 99 on contract directly from verizon....probably 49 or free on 3rd party websites

Same here. I had to list it 3 times too before the buyer actually came up with the money.
On thing to remember if your going to sell ANY phone your not going to make a profit. It just makes getting a new phone a little better.
I will be getting the One I have two upgrades available in October so I should be able to get it in September. I hope thats when its released. The developer edition I think is BS pretty sure guys here on XDA will be able to crack the One without me paying extra.
I found a link that compares DNA to One camera check it out http://pocketnow.com/2013/03/13/htc-one-camera-vs-droid-dna-camera#!prettyPhoto
I'm actually happy with my DNA (understatement) and since Sense 5 will be sent to the DNA the only two things that will make me get the new Verizon HTC One (Probably being named the DNA+) would be better battery life and availability in white other than that I doubt that I will be swayed
