Riddle me this, I've successfully flashed a JB ROM onto my soft bricked Desire X. I have successfully managed to restore my photos and notification sounds by manually transferring from PC to the phone's sd card and everything is working fine - everything apart from the restored downloads - they aren't appearing on the phone's 'Downloads' screen?
When I connect the phone to the PC the folder path in Windows Explorer is: 'Computer\HTC Desire X\SD card\download' - I've even downloaded something from my phone to check where it's saving to and it is the correct location - but the restored downloads are invisible?!?
How strange?
Thanks in advance for any help!

Hi
I had rooted my LG Optimus one and had deleted some applications with Titanium backup.
Now when i attach my phone to any computer it is not getting detected. i tried resetting the phone to factor default, reloaded drivers and LG pc suite . tried almost everything possible.
It is not even going into usb mass storage mode. The device manager on PC too does not detect any usb conection happening. Everything else on the phone is working fine.
Is that any usb related module on the phone got accidently deleted ?
Whats the possible solution now ?
Have you checked the USB-MASS STORAGE option in SETTINGS-> SDCARD & PHONE STORAGE SETTINGS ?
yes
yes i have done everything . selected mass usb storage too..
the problem is that no PC even detects a USB connection happening when i attach the phone
This happened to me twice now... I just sent it in to the LG service center. The tech guy said he did a "software update" which I took to mean reflashing the original ROM all over again.
I recommend doing a KDZ update if possible then install custom recovery and do a nandroid backup so you will always have a failsafe.
Dont take my word for it yet though... Hopefully someone else can enlighten us. I now use the void custom ROM so that there will be no unnecessary apps on my phone ^_^
Dear all, can any body tell me how much space is required on sd for nandroid backup?
I have limited space on stock sd card.

IIRC, around <500 MB. Each backup you make wont overwrite the last one so watch how many you make. But this is actually a good thing. And each backup type you make (nand, nand + android secure, etc.) also makes its own folder.
Backup and try to restore first to see if it works (backing up the nand+anything else didnt work for me).
Thanks a lot. I believe I'll have to delete some files on sd. And after that I can make a nandroid backup. I also feel we can copy the backup to pc and can use it later if need arises?

I believe so as long as it is in the correct folder where you found it.
What I feared for my phone before was that I cannot do a KDZ update because the PC wouldnt see my phone and I did not have custom recovery installed (nor a backup obviously...). Thats why I sent it to the service center...
When I got it back, I didnt abuse my phone as much (used it for call and text only) until I was finally able to install custom recovery ^_^
Important update
Hi guys
I had gone to the LG service station. Got my phone re-flashed with the latest firmware V10C . But the PC still can't detect the phone .
Now LG is giving me a new handset in exchange. They say its some problem with the hardware.

Hi,
I upgraded my Galaxy S2 [3 UK] to the 4.0.3 version with Kies and then rooted it with Odin and CF-Root-SGS2_XX_XEO_LPQ-v5.3-CWM5.tar
Everything is working great, except the applications that I had moved to the SD card. Those have stopped working, and the shortcuts on the home screen + in the Applications menu have the icons replaced with a transparent grey one with an Android logo and an SD card with "SD" written on it.
I checked the SD card in my Linux PC with Mass Storage mode, and the .android_secure directory is still there and has the various files which I believe belong to the missing apps.
Has some security key been destroyed or what is going on here? Can I get the apps back or should I just bite the bullet and reinstall them?
Thanks for any help!

reported same issues before and found no solutions answered.....I think some config changes from GB to ICS making issues,
your earlier version was not rooted and no backup available?

My previous version (2.3.5) wasn't rooted although the one before was, and I do have a Kies backup but I don't think it includes the applications. It's not a very big deal since I can download all of the applications again, and it doesn't seem that any of my media files on the SD card have been affected, but I was just hoping to avoid having to do that.
But thanks for your answer! I'll make sure to do a full backup including apps before I try rooting next time.

Actually I said that too soon. When I try to install one of the apps affected I get a message "Error - Couldn't install on USB storage or SD card."
So I guess I do need a solution to this if at all possible.
SOLVED - I flashed the stock kernel back, from Kernel_I9100XXLPQ.tar.md5. After rebooting, the SD card was scanned and all my applications work again!
So I guess the answer is, flash the stock kernel back and all will be well (root still works). Also got rid of the yellow warning triangle at boot!
Next time I'll have a Titanium Backup before I start flashing/rooting

I had my Note connected to my Mac as a media device (MTP) and was able to use Android File Transfer to copy files to and from my phone. While connected, I selected the option to connect as Camera (PTP) and cannot get it to connect as a Media device (MTP) again and it no longer works with the Android File Transfer App.
My note is rooted and unlocked and I'm running CleanROM 3.5. I've rebooted, wiped cache & dalvik, fixed permissions, tested on Windows 7 and a second Mac, and I can't get this setting to change. I've searched the forums and Google and haven't found a solution.
Is there anything else I can do, reset, or perhaps a file I can edit with Root Explorer to correct this? I'd like to avoid having to restore a nandroid backup or reflash if possible.
Thanks in advance.

Thanks. I tried that but still couldn't get it to work. My last nandroid was only a couple days old so I went ahead and restored that and it's back to normal now.
The same thing has happen to me. I'm rooted and running Clean 4.0.5. I cannot change it over to (MTP). If someone can help that would be great. I prefer not to do a restore.
Any word on this??
I had to wipe and reflash to get it back.
Sent from my unlocked Galaxy Note 2 rockin' CleanROM
Thanks. Will give it a go.
Hi, I'm in desperate need of help, please.
I'm using SGS2. Several months ago my device suddenly started acting weird, thumbnails in gallery didn't load, apps didn't refresh (instagram, facebook etc.)... Rebooting would help but only for a certain amount of time, until it suddenly started to happen again. I realised the internal SD card simply becomes read-only randomly, but I didn't know why. I made peace with it since I'm not a big smartphone user.
Anyhow, today I went through my phone files and saw that several cache folders were oddly big, so I deleted a ****load of files, and then(!!) that one folder would not delete... So I clicked it and saw a bunch of gibberish files that do not want to get deleted.
I tried SD Maid app, but the thing is, once I browse to that specific corrupt folder the SD card goes crazy and becomes read-only, so basically at that moment I realised that folder is what's making the phone act like this.
Connecting it to PC and deleting doesn't work either. Renaming the files doesn't work. Copy/paste does work but is useless. Factory reset/installing new ROM/kernel/whatever doesn't work either. The files will still be there, I've tried.
Anything, please?

What rom were you using when the errors started happening?
What have you tried as far as flashing roms/kernels/custom recoveries?
I'm using Omega v24 XWLSW (4.1.2). What I did was factory reset and every single format option in that CWM recovery screen. I then flashed that same ROM again but fresh.
I don't think this has anything to do with ROM/kernels etc. This is simply a bunch of corrupt files in Device\sdcard\Android. I've tried googling with no success. I need a way to forcibly delete that folder with all those files inside. Any directions on how format?

The first thing I would try is to reinstall a stock samsung rom. This sometimes is the only way to fully reset your phone back to original condition. Sammobile.com is the website I have used. You would have to root again but....
Also check out this thread -

There are some similarities with possible corrupt partitions another guy has(the last few pages of thread), that they are trouble-shooting. You might find some answers there.

Hey mate.
If you haven't fixed the problem i recommend performing a checkdisk.
To perform a checkdisk you need to:
1. Connect your phone through USB via mass storage mode.
2. The computer should prompt you to perform a checkdisk automatically, in that case just accept and let the computer perform it. If it doesn't prompt automatically you need to do it manully by right-clicking the correct partition on the computer, click properties and then on the 'Tools' bar. Now mine is in Swedish, i don't know how it is in english but press the button on the first alternative. (i.e the button with 'Control' and the administrator logo).
After pressing, just let it be (it will take quite a while) and when finished.. tell me if it worked or not.
Good luck!
Hey, I tried chkdsk and defrag just in case, the files are still there, although some of them are now gone. My phone doesn't go crazy anymore though, which is nice. Maybe I'll just let the corrupt files be there in peace, they won the war XD And as long as my phone works properly I don't really care about them.
Thanks everyone!
Hello everyone,
I need your help. Sorry for the long post.
I have a OnePlus One. It was running on CM 13.0 (Android 6.0.1). I had TWRP and MultiROM installed.
I have had an issue where whenever I flash a zip file in TWRP, the phone will show an error after installing the zip: "Unable to mount storage". This appeared in red color on the screen right after showing the progress of the zip installation. The phone worked fine and all the flashed zips worked great as well. However, the error that appeared every single time when I flash a zip file bothered me. So I tried to fix it. (I know, if it's not broken don't fix it, but sadly I tired).
I followed this video to get rid of the error => (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X7yDPszoQ5s). However, instead of getting rid of the error, I ended up with a huge problem. My phone couldn't recognize the data in the internal storage. It showed that the internal storage was empty. When I tired to reboot in TWRP, It said: "No OS installed are you sure you wish to reboot". I realized that the video I followed was for a different problem and that I ended up with the same issue the video was trying to fix! I tried every single option the video suggested to fix the problem and nothing helped.
I connected my phone to my laptop and downloaded the latest CyanogenMod zip for my phone and I flashed it. when I rebooted my phone I got a screen that asked for my password. I typed a random password (I discovered later that the phone will accept any password and say it's correct). I got the following error: "Decryption Unsuccessful... The password you entered is correct, but unfortunately your data is corrupt... To resume using your phone, you need to perform a factory reset. When you set up your phone after the reset, you'll have an opportunity to restore any data that was backed up to your google account...Then the only thing I can select is "reset phone." ". I pressed the reset button on the screen, the phone rebooted and showed the same error. Then I tired flashing PAC ROM and I got the same error again. Then I flashed OmniROM and the phone worked! It didn't show the error.
I have a Titanium backup for all my apps and I also have a nandroid backup for my previous ROM (in my memory stick using an OTG cable). However, I don't have any backups for my internal storage (photos, videos, documents... etc). I am guessing that these files are still in my internal storage. I didn't copy any new files to my phone because I think if I do, then the phone will keep replacing my old files (that I can't see) with the new ones.
My question is: Is there a way to get back these old photos and videos from the internal storage? Note that I didn't delete these files, but the phone can't read them. Also, I checked the nandroid backup that I have and the file system type of the previous ROM was EXT4. My current file system type is the same, EXT4.
Thank you for the help!
