Hello,
If any of you running an LG rom and tried the new GMail app, you must know about the annoying red "userdebug" watermark. Here's how to get rid of it:
- In G3 Tweaksbox ,enable the hidden launcher menu (I'm running CloudyG3, should be the same with G2 Tweaksbox)
- At the bottom of the home screen settings you can find the new hidden menu. Open it
- Click on the magnifying glass (top right corner) and search in the "Feature list" tab for any item containing debug
- Uncheck the 2 items called FEATURE_USE_DEBUG_MOD_VIEW
That's it ! I've tried to restart, it still works and the watermark is gone
Im gonna be brief but to the point...
YOU DA MAN!!!!
ive been banging my head against a wall since the app came out!!! Thankyou!!!
eur-D802 / Lightning ROM V4 /Dorimanx kernel 8.4
Thank you! This was really bugging me for the last week!
How about if you are not rooted anymore?

First, I'd like to say a huge thanks to the developers on XDA for everything you've done for my wife's new Nook Tablet and my old HTC Hero CDMA that's now running ICS (you rock jaybob)! You guys are all awesome!
On to my problems...
First, rooted the wife's Nook Tablet, did the partial debloat (worked flawlessly Indirect, after I fixed a driver issue on my end...had to uninstall it and grab it to install the proper drivers before it installed the usb mass storage device driver, otherwise ADB wouldn't see it).
All the B&N stuff is there and using Go Launcher on the "android" side. Here's my first issue...some menus (Beautiful Widgets & Astro File Manager to name a few) and a few other random apps have white text on the menu making it essentially impossible to read what that option is. I played around a little with the Go Launcher settings, but can't find anything to darken the text. Does anyone know how to fix this?
Second, wife doesn't like the stock android keyboard because each letter you press the preview of that character pops up right above it. I know it's a throwback to when you had small screens and it's just a confirmation of the letter your pressing, but she finds it very distracting (I don't even notice it! heh heh) Tried installing other keyboards but since there's no way to go to the stock android settings (only goes to nook settings), I can't enable the keyboards. I tried going to the nook hidden settings and selecting a new keyboard from there, but only the "android keyboard" shows up, not the other couple I tried installing.
Last, is there any way to bring up the stock android settings options?
Swore I'd never say this to keep like sounding like a noob instead of just a lurker, but I looked around the forums and didn't see any questions that addressed my "problems" ...so if there are answers to these somewhere, a link would be appreciated.
I have the feeling these are issues that can't be fixed until get access to the bootloader/recovery and get the ability to cook custom ROMs.
Thanks in advance for the help!

The stock android settings menu doesn't exist. Try using the Hidden Settings app to get to the most common settings.
Ahh...that explains it...was looking in the wrong forum! lol I think I was searching my HTC Hero forum since that's where I default to. The keyboard fix worked. Gonna try the menu thing later after I finish reading all the posts.
Hi all newbie here and did a few searches and tried to look for help but could not find right info, also I hope I am in the right spot to post so please feel free to tell me if I am not in the right place. Currently running ICS 4.0.4 up-to-date at time of writing on Vodafone Australia but I don't think the country of service provider is the problem. I have a problem with my 'Home Screen Dock' NOT THE 'Lock Screen Dock' I can change icons on the lock screens no problems, All the help, forums and videos on changing the 'Home Screen Dock' Icons say to simply drag, drop[ and replace. All i wanted to do is change the stock "Internet" Icon with Chrome. Dragged the internet icon of and went to drag the Chrome one on but I can't as instead of the dock staying visible like on some videos it changes to the Delete Icon option. Cant find settings please help. Also I do not want to use a 3rd party launcher. I tried Apex and do like it but I use widgets and can't use widgets as my phone is not rooted. Please help arrrgghhh. Thanks in advance.
PS . I just have a blankspot where my internet Icon use to be.
Go into your app drawer.
Menu>Edit
Drag the Chrome icon down to the dock.

Thanks for your reply but I have tried that...the dock area only changes to for different Icon that you can drag your chosen icon onto in order to perform a function. these are from left to right "Create Folder" "New Page" "File Info" & "Delete"
Have you tried to hold on the Chrome Icon in the App drawer and put it on the home screen, THEN drag it to the empty space on the dock?

Yes I have and I get then get the same options expect it has text with each one i.e. *Icon with text"Create Folder" * *Icon with text "New Page"* etc
Has to be a step you are missing. I just tried it and it's working fine.

THanks for your help.... OK so here is what I do.
1) Unlock -> touch App Draw Icon. (Icon that says Apps with 16 little white squares)then I am on my last page/screen where I have a lonesome Chrome Icon.
2)Then I touch the Menu button (the glowing white button left of the physical home button).
3)Touch Edit (from the pop up menu *Edit with the pencil icon next to it)
4)The Page now has <::: Edit |Cancel|Save along the top of the screen under the notification bar. and no dock or anything at the bottom except for 6 . . . . . . white dots which represent my 6 screens.
5) Touch the Chrome Icon and drag downwards, but as soon as I press and hold the icon to drag at the bottom of the screen 4 icons appear that represent the function I described in my previous reply.
Please tell me I did something wrong. It should be so easy. Thanks btw.
1. Click on the App Drawer Icon
2. Press and hold on the Chrome Icon (that will move it to your desktop)
3. Now find it on your homescreen and press and hold it and drag it down to the empty space on the dock.
That's all there is to it.

Have you found the solution?
Hi,
I'm having the same problem, I was wondering if you've found the solution.
Also, since recently I'm having chrging problems with my S3 - sometimes it will charge, sometimes not - USB or Wall charger.
I tend to think these problems were introduced with latest software update.
I did factory reset, but problems still there.
Cheers.

TouchWiz used to allow me to follow the earlier procedure (it's how I docked "Maps" icon). This was back when I could also just drag and drop icons on the pages at will.
However there was an update from my telco (Telstra) and after that TouchWiz (as version 4.0.4) no longer allows changing of the bottom 'docked' row of icons. Even dragging and dropping icons generally is disabled it now requires use of the context menu to select "Edit page", first. The problem with that approach is that edit mode hides the dock row and replaces it with the icons "Create folder | Create page | App info | Delete". See attached screenshot.
So now I'm stuck with the useless blue-globe icon forever showing on my page, instead of being able to replace it with the very useful Chrome icon. Maybe Samsung did it accidentally (are they even the ones that develop TouchWiz?).
PS: If Micro$oft blocked the use of an alternate browsers, there would be loud screams of monopoly and anti-trust...
i to am also having the same problems, i am running stock Samsung Jelly Bean OS with a touchwiz home version 4.1.1. hope someone can find a way to fix this and to get our freedom back in it

Apparently this problem only effects Galaxy S4 GT-I9505
I found this solution:
you need to have root access (which is available on the xda forums)
you can unlock the dock icon edit function by going to /system/csc/other.xml and find
<CscFeature_Launcher_ReplaceHotseatAreaInEditMode> TRUE</CscFeature_Launcher_ReplaceHotseatAreaInEditMode>
Tried it using ex file explorer editor but nothing happened, restarted the device and the setting had reverted back to its original state, might have to do an adb push but the adb version I have installed is apparently outdated (keeps telling me the device is offline) so I'd need to update adb first
If anyone can give it a try to see if it actually works on rooted 4.2.2 with stock touchwiz, it would be really appreciated

Tons of thanks! :victory: Works great on GT-I9195T 4.2.2! Now, four left docked icons on homescreen could be moved.
I picked up my max yesterday and have been mostly enjoying it.
Trying to determine if others are seeing the same problem with apps that have the menu (three vertical dots) at the top of the screen. I've found that none of the icons work up there.
Example, in the default messaging app, there are three icons at the top when in the 'All Messages' screen: A (search) magnifying glass, a (new message) plus sign, and the (menu) three stacked dots.
None of them works. I've found the same in the Dialer app that has the same icons on each of the screens.
Tried a chat with HTC, and their first step in 'trouble-shooting' was to suggest a factory reset.
SOLUTION: After some piddling, I found out that if 'Show Animation' is disabled in developer options, it breaks some of those menus/functions.

Thanks for the post. I was losing my mind over this. I did a factory reset and it fixed it. then I eventually went back and unchecked show animations. then i s off and after that i checked my menu buttons and they weren't working again!! i was not pleased so i searched and found your post. that was the culprit.
"Developer Options!?" Those aren't even available on the Sprint version. At least, I can't find them...

Hi, I have the Nexus 5 with 4.4.2 , I'm new with Android, my phone is rooted
I recently made the "buttons" disappear adding a line in the build.prop file and instaled LMT to have a pie,but the problem is that in Google Chrome, the Settings/Menu Button in the top right (the one with three little boxes) disappeared.
Does somebody know how to make this button appear?

Just make one of your Pie options the Menu button. Easier and more convenient without having to reach all the way to the top.

Thank you I will do in the meantime, but I'm looking for a definitive solution also
So coming from my G3 and G4, I always configure my NavBar the same. TASK SWITCHER - > HOME - > BACK. But ever since day one, when I changed them from the original ordering (BACK - > HOME - > SWITCHER), the Mini View function no longer functions. Is this inherent in LG's software? Anyone else experiencing anything similar?
Thanks
Also, the functionality does not return. Perhaps it's a different setting that prevents Mini View?
I moved mine around and also added the notification menu button and no problems with the mini view here.
My order is notification, home, switcher, back.
There is a check box in settings for mini view. I'm assuming you know it's there but just in case it somehow got unchecked I figured I'd mention it.

Thanks Yeah I've ticked and un ticked it probably hundreds of times by now. No dice. What's interesting is when I enabled user switching and created a new profile for my daughter on the phone, it works fine for her. I wonder what it could be...
Bump
Anyone ever figure out what causes this? Same thing happening on my VZW model. I did disable solve bloatware. Haven't re-enabled any of them yet to see if it comes back tho..will be testing tomorrow.
