Does anyone know if the Nexus Player supports them, and what about a USB controller over OTG? OTG, in general, for that matter.

In my case specifically I would love that DualSchock 3 (PS3 controller) from Sony do the thing hoping that the bluetooth environment are compatible, I maybe pro Google and the Nexus Player is a hell of a device in every angle, including price value, but I am also pro money and Nexus 6 plus the Player and ALSO needs to buy apart the ASUS controller, I rather the first two.
I was able to get Xbox controllers working on the Fire TV by just plugging them in. I'm sure the Nexus Player running android will have Plug and Play support for most controllers.
talk about putting the cart before the horse...
i ordered two nexus player controllers. they are scheduled to be shipped to me tomorrow...
the thing is i dont yet have the players (i ordered two)
Waiting patiently myself. I ordered an official controller. But Im hoping an xbox 360 controller over OTG will work.

If the Nexus Player controller is the same as the one that came with ADT-1 (and it looks like it is by the pictures), it's just a standard bluetooth controller. . . and it sucks. That said though, I did learn that I could connect my PS3 controller to my ADT-1 via USB and it just worked (after hitting the PS button). The only odd thing with using the sixaxis is after I disconnect it from the ADT-1, it turns on my PS3. haha
I have successfully paired a Moga Pro in HID mode, and hooked up multiple Xbox 360 controllers over OTG. If you already have USB or Bluetooth controllers that work on other Android devices, chances are good that they will work on the Player as well.
The only limitation for now is that controllers that rely on an app for custom mappings or touch emulation are not guaranteed to work, simply because most apps are not optimized for Android TV yet. YMMV.
I received my NP yesterday and have both my Nyko Playpad Pro's connected and working fine, no issues.
any chance the Nvidia Shield controller will work?
Unsure on Nvidia Shield, but do not see why not. The Nyko's were purchased in hopes they would work when Fire TV came out and they were half the price @ Gamestop (paid $20/each) compared to the FireTV controller and they worked straight away.
PS4 controller is working via USB, it'll show up on Bluetooth if you put it into pairing mode (hold Share + PS button) but it will never finish pairing
The Logitech F710 works with Android 5, but I don't have an OTG cable that will work in the NPlayer. I ordered one. I'll test with the player once that arrives.
This is not a bluetooth gamepad, but it is wireless and has a USB dongle. My current OTG cable has an angled connection, and it angles towards the HDMI cable. I did test it with my N9 and verified it worked fine there. Since it's suppose to be the same Android but with a different UI, I anticipate it working on the NPlayer as well.
Will update with results when I have them.

that wont work, nividia shield works over wifi and not bluetooth. i own two and will test on the nexus player but it already doesnt work on any other android device so im sure it wont.
Got my straight OTG cable in. Logitech F710 works fine. Played some FF3 with it without issue.
I am researching on a controller to buy for the nexus player. I have the NES30 and im having issues connecting. I am looking for one to buy to play emulators such as n64. Which controller would be best?
The gamepad or a 3rd party one? Does anyone know if the Amazon fire tv one works with the NP?

Hey man, I paired my $15 nyko playpad with zero issues. Playing mupen64 Roms like a boss.

Thanks, Cody! Would you recommend the playpad over the playpad pro?
I have amazon credit, so if i get a controller there I can get a controller cheap. I was thinking about trying the amazon fire tv controller or maybe another bluetooth controller maybe Mad Catz ctrl r or i.
Is the nexus gamepad worth $50 (with tax and shipping) vs the other controllers I mention above? I have enough amazon credit to get most controllers on amazon for really cheap.
Can u pair two controllers. Bluetooth at the same time to play a game such as contra

I happened to own a Nyko Playpad (not the Pro) from a while ago that I never really used. While I can't recommend it as a great gaming controller, it does have one key feature that turns it from run-of-the-mill control pad to ultimate NP utility. It contains a switch that allows you to switch between HID, iCade, Mouse, and App modes. It's the Mouse setting that makes this controller truly useful, because without it, I couldn't navigate around MAME to set up my control pad, or navigate around Mupen64 to quit out of a game (how else are people achieving this? Just quitting out?) Basically, to really set up many of the emus properly, you need some kind of mouse input, so it's nice that I can switch the Playpad back and forth between HID and Mouse modes as needed.

How did you set up the buttons? I don't exactly have a touch screen TV to setup each button individually.

Hi Guys, sorry for my bad english, but i have a problem mit with Prime with Logitech F510.
I´m not rooted.
i´ve connected my F510 to my prime and on Android the controller works fine, SNES Emulator works fine, Riptide works fine.
BUT: when i start Shadowgun THD or N64 Emu or GTA 3, the controller starts to turn arround i cant stop that .
i do something wrong? my controller is destroyed? On my PC it works fine.
It has something to do with the LT and RT buttons, when i press them on half , it will stop ... is it possible to deactivate dem?
i bought this controller , cause i´ve seen so much Videos about this controller on prime .
please help me
i need help noboby a clue?
is it possible to get it fine with siaxis ?? or is this just for PS3 controllers?
No clue. I have a similar issue with that game. Up turns left and left turns up. Controller works fine with other games

damn i want to play with it. cause this controller is the best one in the hands
okay bought a PS 3 Dualshock controller. Rootet and Sixaxis. this should work.
I have the same issue on a XBox compatible controller I bought from GameStop. On the package there was written they were authorized to use the XBox logo since it is 100% compatible and it looks like it's working on the Prime (can select, run, get back and to home with controller) but I can't solve the issue... anyone can help me?

If you download the sixaxis app you can use the PS3 controller through Bluetooth and it works great for Shadowgun, GTA, N64oid, and FPse. I like the PS3 controller better than xbox because you can use it through Bluetooth.
Just to let you know, the controller I bought is this one and it's working properly on my PC... they said it was 100% compatible with the normal XBOX 360 controller and they were authorized by Microsoft to make it, it's kinda refurbishment and rebrand of the normal XBox's... any idea on how to make it stop turning? Also if it's not a PS3 controller, I tried Sixaxis Compatibility Checker to see if there was any problem, but it wasn't able to detect it, but I think it wasn't meant to be detecting it... another strange thing is that the controller keeps on blinking on the 4 parts of the ring, but I assume it's quite normal?
Thanks for help

I don't think it's the controler.
I've got an authentic wireless xbox controller from my xbox and a reciever dongle.
On my pc and some games that support the controler on the prime it works great.
But shadowgun is the problem because I've got the same problem with it.
Similar experiences with "rotation" during gameplay
I've recently bought a wired xbox 360 controller (fake one) and i'm also experiencing issues with the controller similar to the ones mentioned above. In shadowgun if i trigger a certain control (depending on how i map the controls) the man start to spin in either direction, as if i'm e.g. pressing one of the small joysticks to turn left. Similar issues in soulcraft, but the free version of Zen Pinball works just fine (but there i don't use the joysticks of course).
It seems likely that there is some driver issue, would be interesting to know if anyone with an authentic xbox 360 wired controller is experiencing the same thing?
And also, anyone tried "USB/BT Joystick Center 5 P" or similar app and see if that can be used as a workaround?

USB/BT Joystick Center 5 doesn't change how the Xbox 360 wireless controller works on Android games, such as Shadowgun and GTA3 - as far as I've tried. I have the same problem, official MS 360 wireless controller, wireless receiver, and Shadowgun does not want to work. I can only map about 2 buttons, axis 3+ and axis 3-, and it doesn't work that way either. GTAIII will navigate menus but won't do anything else.
What JC5 does is change how an emulator sees the controller, for instance, I was playing a game on FPSE. Using USB/BT JC5, you can remap all the buttons, but not the joysticks, as hardware buttons (this includes keyboard keys, which is default and works fine) for compatibility with games that didn't use the joysticks. As far as the joysticks go, I haven't put that one together. I've been trying to get N64oid to work properly with the joystick and it's getting better but it's got its own set of issues.
Do any of the bluetooth controllers on the market work perfectly with Shadowgun/GTA3? I don't own a PS3 and didn't plan on buying one at all, much less any of the controllers since I have an RROD'd 360 sitting around and I had the wireless controller along with it.
EDIT: Still working on this myself, not much to say other than I just want to play the Armored Core series again ;(
Thx for the info!
Ok, good to know about that before buying the BT app. So, while waiting for game devs to to something about this i suppose next step is testing a ps3 controller somewhere and see if that improves anything in the games.
Must say i'm a bit disappointed though, since tegra zone boosts controller support for shadowgun. It's not really the same thing hammering your thumbs on the screen in a fps-game...
Couldn't get any controller compatible games to run with the 360 controller, at least the wireless one. For emulators it works great.
However I cashed in the 360/accessories and coughed up to buy a PS3, and that thing plugs up just fine, works like a champ with the games. For emulator I think you'd still need the BT/Joystick app, I already had it all mapped before I even thought that it would work as it sat.
Good to know about ps3
Ok, thx for the info about ps3 controllers, nice (not as such... ) to know someone else experiencing the same with the 360 controller. if i go and buy myself a ps3 controller, are you using the wired or the wireless ones?

I'm using the one that came with the console, it's wireless with no rechargeable batteries, but you plug in the cable (it's a very common one, works with the PS3 headset too) and it charges while the console is on. The cable I'm talking about is that one cable you have a thousand of and never find when you need it, like a camera cable, I don't remember the official designation for it.
As far as I can tell, and I haven't tried this extensively, it's not the bluetooth controller because it doesn't register as a bluetooth device on the console, but I think I remember reading somewhere the bluetooth ones work. You can probably get by with the cheapest controller for PS3, or just get the official one and be done with it. Works perfectly, but has to be plugged in AFAIK.
Bought a PS3 controller from amazon earlier for $37.48 and was going to use it with Sixaxis Controller to play games.
However, just found the Phonejoy Analog Game Controller and its a few bucks cheaper.
Do any of you guys have any experience with either and what would you recommend?

I am using a normal PS3 Wireless Controller, paird over Bluetooth.
For the Software Side i used Sixaxis Controller.
Everythink works fine.
The Sixaxis App can also emulate the Touchscreen Buttons
Thanks for the info, Im gonna keep my order and test it out this week when I get it.
Did you try this out? Were you able to do a comparison of the Sixaxis and phone joy?
Hello,
So I just placed an order of the Nyko Playpad and I wonder if it's support by the Nvidia Shield Tablet? I know that the Playpad Pro version is supported, but it was not available in my location so I had to order the smaller Playpad.
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Nyko-Playpa...8&qid=1418505298&sr=8-2&keywords=nyko+playpad
Thanks!
It does work, but the analog sticks are kinda stiff.
The controller works very well on most games, but the system confuses the dpad with the analog stick, so when you move the analog the controller acts as if you were moving both the analog and pressing the dpad at the same time, kind of a bummer.
If you have root access, you can fix it by going to /system/usr/keylayout/Vendor_1d79_Product_0009.kl and erasing the last two lines where it is
"axis 00x10 HAT_X
axis 00x11 HAT_Y"
and saving the file. Reboot tablet, issue fixed!
Hope I helped

All bluetooth controllers work on the Shield Tablet. I have successfully used the Drone controller, Impulse, Nyko Pro and regular version, Samsung Bluetooth Controller, Moga, Moga Power and Moga Power Pro, Red Samurai (Gamestop Controller), iControlPad, Steel Series, Nes30. They all work, but I suggest and spent the few extra to get the best controller which is the Shield Controller, no lag and you can connect your headphones to the controller, has a trackpad, and you have media controls on it too.
Does anyone know of any decent game controllers for the 6T? I like the ones that fit around the phone and I've seen a couple of mentions of the Flydigi Wee over at Reddit, but I can't seem to find any in the UK. What do you guys use?
I don't have any that fit around the phone, but I have a few 8BitDo controllers. High quality, great battery life, and good feel.
I have one of them that I use on my shield. Was hoping for something a bit more portable tho, so you don't have to then hold the phone.
I've been using the steelseries status xl. Also bought the clip direct from them. Works great and holds the phone pretty securely.
I have a steelseries stratus xl but it lags on input when I comes to games. Now I just use my Xbox one controller that has Bluetooth and it's amazing.
I've decided to go for the Wee2T after watching a lot of reviews on it. It's coming from China so no idea when I'll receive it, but I'll post some pics when I have it.
OK...so I recieved the controller over the weekend and after some tinkering have got it working. The only issue I have is that with the latest version of the app I can't seem to remap the keys. There should be a pull out menu that overlays games, but this is missing. If I use an older version of the app then it seems to work fine. I'll take some pics tonight and post; the actual controller works really well.
I use the 8bitso zero keychain Bluetooth controller. It's on my keychain with my home and car keys and works perfectly for short bursts of snes or Genesis or tg16

Just buy a Bluetooth enabled Xbox one controller. Works just like console. I play fortnite on it with no input lag whatsoever.
Gamesir is the best you will find. All you have to do is decide if you like the Playstation or Xbox controller
The Gamevice for the Pixel phones works great with the 6T. Can't use it with a case though.
I play with Dualshock 4, it has the best analog accuracy compared to other bluetooth controller like gamesir and ipega (and also feels better when I hold it). It can run over Bluetooth and OTG cable. But you need some tinkering to fix the input lag on Bluetooth. But I always play on OTG cable since I want the connection to be more stable. I also use DOBE Dualshock 4 Mount to attach my phone to the Dualshock 4 so I can play anywhere anytime.
But can it play COD mobile ?

How did you go about fixing the lag?
I'm using DS4 controller with cheap phone holder that clips on dualshock. It works really good and this holder cost under 2 dollars.
xbox1 (the one with bluetooth) and a clip for 3$. Its rock solid
Today I just found out PS4 Remote Play can be run on Android devices. Dream come true. Im under the impression this rolled out a bit ago, but I havent been able to play PS4, so I didnt know about the port to Android. Anyway, I ran into a pretty obvious issue that I can't seem to find any answers to or even reference to, no matter where I search: The controller.
I have never ever been able to play Android games using the on screen controls. I purchased the 8Bitdo to pair with Bluetooth nearly 2 years ago and have played most Android games (and emulators on Android) ever since then. Its an amazing controller. I just like having a tangible controller in my hand.
No one seems to be asking for advice on PS4 DS Controller alternatives or adapters.
I tried connecting PS4 DS by USB-C to Micro-USB, nothing.
8Bitdo connected by cable, nothing. By Bluetooth, nothing.
Tried Logitech Gaming controller. Nothing
Theres got to be some sort of tangible, in hand controller.
Does anyone know anything about this?
