So, okay. I've searched everywhere but found no reference of Samsung S3's touchscreen compatibility.
There are at least 3?? variants of our beloved S3, but does the touchscreen of a I9300 fit that of SHV-E210L?
I have the E210L with a disabled touch after rooting. Now, I want to change its touchscreen but don't want to buy something I'll regret later. I've done everything from restoring, factory resetting, and re-flashing the FW but still the touch is disabled.
So, XDA-folks. Does the S3 have touchscreen compatibility or does it fit to all Samsung S3 variants?
Bump? Anybody?
Easiest way would be check those selling replacement screen assemblies, if one screen fits several models then you may have your answer.
However, as flashing the wrong kernel seems to always destroy the touchscreen I would doubt they are compatible.
I also don't think you can change just the digitiser, it's glued to the oled and unlike the glass screen is very fragile.

Hey man, thanks for the reply.
I'm thinking about replacing the whole screen, not just the digitizer as I don't have any experience at all with separating the touch and LCD with the heat gun..
Unfortunately, we don't have an eBay-like service here in the Philippines (which do returns) so trying/fitting screens is quite out of my options. Also worth noting is the E210L's antenna attached at the back cover, I'm afraid that if I do buy an I9300's screen it would somehow get in the way.. It's detachable though, but yeah..well..you know. :silly:
Guess I have to resort with phone techs scattered throughout the area. I just hope they don't make matters worse with my phone. :fingers-crossed:
Thanks again!

Rae

Hey,
I have an ATT tilt 2, running an Energy rom. It worked great till 3 days ago, when I noticed a "light" spot on the screen (about 50mm in diameter) , like something had scratched some film away.
I disregarded it as just that, a scratch, but the next day the screen was completely unresponsive. If I press on the spot, it "fills" with a darker color, I am guessing this is the digitizer pressing into the LCD screen, the screen then becomes responsive for a few seconds (Just long enough for me to reset my alarms!), but not always.
I have ready through these forums and online, and it sounds like I damaged something, digitizer or LCD, but I am not sure which I need to replace.
Also, I have read that replacing just one or the other can be problematic as they need to be aligned just so and with no particles in between, but I cannot find any Digitizer+LCD assemblies online for Tilt2...
So I guess what I am looking for is:
Based on above, do I need just Digitizer or LCD or Both?
Can you point me in the direction of a good vendor? The ones I have found are either selling just tmobile or generic replacements (which if I understand are incompatible with the att version cause of camera placement?) or are very unclear which version they are selling and do not clarify it in emails...
Thanks XDA Forums, keep up the good work!

If it's under warranty, do an exchange. That would be the easiest/cheapest option. HTC provides a 15 month warranty normally. Going through your carrier would be a better option, however, as they usually just swap out the headset. If you have no warranty, then just search eBay or Google for the digitizer and LCD. They normally come together. Based on your description of the problem, you'll need both anyhow. Some come with instructions, and some don't. YouTube has a few videos detailing the replacement, though.
I have had a very similar problem on two Tilt 2s now. Looks like the glue leaks out of the side of the plastic over the lcd. Both phones did this on the right side of the screen.
Just in case anyone turns this up in a search like I did and can't swap the phone thru their carrier....
Global Parts Direct sells the ATT versions of these, though the LCD was out of stock at the time of this posting. (I'm too much a newb to post a direct link.)
I just had the same thing happen to me and I was able to swap the phone out with AT&T.
Oddly enough, the bubble wasn't there when I called AT&T but showed up the next day. My screen was unresponsive, called, went through a ton of questions but I had gone through this before with a couple of Fuze phones.
One thing I noticed before this happened which appears to be symptomatic before the phone becomes unresponsive is a large rectangle appears on the phone's LCD. It doesn't obstruct the viewing or anything I have just noticed that it has been on all my phones that have had trouble with the LCD/digitizer.
Has anyone else noticed this?
Sometime ago I dropped my SGS3 i9300 and got a bad crack spreading from corner to edges but everything was still working fine only the gorilla glass or digitizer was cracked leaving the Amoled Screen perfectly intact.
Anyway I sent it for repair and when I received it after almost two weeks ,I noticed a dull green-bluish tint on the screen when viewed from an angle, also earlier I could barely see anything in sunlight outdoors (Common for Amoleds) but now I can see clearly even when i keep the screen directly in the sunlight!:silly:
Is it possible that the service center people have changed the original Amoled with a cheap LCD ? It was samsung service center!:crying:
Is it possible for me to know by looking at baseband or build no of rom?
for details about rom and all see the image below
s11(dot)postimg(dot)org/pno7cn91v/Screenshot_2013_05_17_16_24_28.png
anyway

Build no.

If you need more details please tell me
It's entirely possible that you got a different LCD brand. It's not uncommon for Samsung to carry multiple manufacturers for parts. There's a way to tell which LCD you currently have but that won't do you any good now. Samsung won't stick in an inferior LCD to rip you off. If you don't like it just go back and get a replacement.

Well I'm not complaining for the brand but for is it really an Amoled or LCD? Also in dark I used to see black smudges (common in some amoleds) but now they have disappeard ! Does it make any sense
You can't get an LCD ..Samsung did this once on the Galaxy s1 but named it the Galaxy SL. (New device entirely). You bought the phone with Amoled on the box, they can't give you anything else.
It's probably just a new revision improving the sun light and ink spots..

I need help in searching for a new screen for my S959G phone but i dont know what to look for. now I know the charge port is a "I9100 Rev 2.3" because I took apart my phone to see what model and rev is my charge port.
Now is the screen part of the whole front of the phone with the touch part or is there a replacement screen with out the digitizer and whole front with it too?
and im sorry if this been asked before or sounds dumb from me asking.
EDIT: I found the whole front part with the screen and touch but at the top of that part it has the AT&T logo but thats the only ones im finding so far none with the TracFone logo at the top but does it matter between I777 and S959G parts?
You probably won't find one with Tracfone branding, but don't see why you can't use an i777 one. You may have a hard time fixing your screen without the whole digitizer attachment, though. My i777 has had a crack running the entire length of the screen for over a year now, and no repair place would touch it because of how Samsung designed it.
Everything I've read about doing it yourself is way too complicated, due to the fact you'd have to buy the glue separately to reattach and it taking a few hours. I didn't have the nerve to try... perhaps you're more adventurous than I. Good luck!
Good evening!
My S3 has just fallen down. Now only physical buttons, back and menu are working. Screen has no physical damage but the digitalizer is not getting ANY of my touch. This makes me thing that it can be the internal connections. If it was broken I believe some screen zones would be still recognised. Then, I believe (and hope) digitalizer is in a well state. What are your thoughts about this?
Apart from this, how can I open the phone to check the connection. I've seen videos in which they replace the screen but I don't know if I can follow this procedure since, if it is still working, I don't know if I could re-glue it again.
Please, what can I do?
Thanks!

It is very possibly your digitizer can be broken but not show any physical damage. If it happened right after a fall then this is a real possibility.
Do not try to pull the screen sections apart you will damage it. Get a new whole screen assembly
Thank you very much for the answer!. Could you please send me a reference of the whole screen assembly I need? You mean digitalizer plus lcd? just digitalizer? Could you provide me a good but cheap one?.

You will need the glass, lcd and digitizer. The term "whole screen assembly" should be enough.
Thanks for the info. I've seen prices of this replacement set and it's about 100$ (80€). I don't think I should pay so much for a 2-year phone. I am thinking about taking a Xiaomi redmi note 4g for 169€.

Yer it is pricey, atleast in my country almost just as expensive to by a new s3 rather than get a new screen when you way up the aspects of a new phone plus the warranty
Hi
My friend broke his Z2 and asked me to try and fix the screen...
I already did this procedure a few times on other phones (Galaxy S3). I'm pretty confident I can do this easily, I have a few questions though.
I should just get him the full LCD/glass/digitizer assembly right? Although his LCD display seems to still function. The other stuff seems like a pain in the ass to install (although his LCD display seems to still work...)
He shattered the back panel too and doesn't care about that. But I'll have to replace the back glass anyway right? You have to remove it to change the front glass LCD etc right?
I never had a Z2 in my life so if you have any tips or info I probably don't know about this repair I'll take it
Thanks.
you have to dissasmble the entire phone, very difficult.
