I just checked the site but they don't have any rear camera..
Yeah they have front facing camera but I need rear camera of 8 MP..

I get to know bcoz before 3 days green vertical lines where coming..
And that problem wasn't permanent..when I restart the phone , camera was working fine..
But after 2-3 clicks it was coming to that green line state.
Then I thought it's software issue..
So I flashed the ROM again which I am using from the 1st day.
But no luck.
Then at last went to 4-5 mobile repairing shops..and they told that rear camera or software problem.
Software is not there thus it means it should be hardware problem.
Let me know.

well i think this is software issue. which rom are u using?
since htc build quality is very good.
Did you already try to flash another rom and see if it's still broken?
many roms have camera issues. dont just go and buy a different camera before you know what is going on in your device. just try some stable custom rom. like android revolution HD, paranoid android, venom...etc. i ask u to try android revolution HD and check your camera. if the problem still occurs then it might time to change your hardware.

So I got my ffc yesterday which is a rev2. I installed it and it is looking sweet. However when I try to use it I just get a black screen and the camera app crashes. Searched the forums and the internet and couldn't find the answer. Do I need to download a driver or something?

The FFC is working for me on Passion V11.
So I have tested the camera. The rear camera works wonderful but as soon as I switch it to the front it goes black and it shows scn in the top corner. Does anyone else have this issue with their FFC mod? I have tried it on Passion and CM9.

I don't think its a software issue. Open up phone and try again I guess.

So I tried it again and I agree with you. I looked at the camera again and they had soldered a copper wire from one little circle to one of the connector pins where the camera connects to the phone. And during the process it goes over 4 or so other of the little circles. I wrote into the company I bought the camera from and sent them pictures of it and I will ask them to send me a new one.

I am having the same problems, did it end up being a faulty camera?
My front camera hasn't worked since I switched to ICS. At first I just thought it probably want working yet so I didn't think anything about it. But I've tried quite a few roms now and none of them work. When I try to use the front camera it just switches to the other back 3d camera, this includes face unlock and the camera app.
I'm currently running devils toast .7, everything else works flawlessly. Could this be a kernel issue? I was under the impression roms came with kernel so I've never even tried loading a new one. I rooted and s-offed when it was first available for the 3d.

I'm guessing you're CDMA?
But, I haven't had a problem with the front camera with ICS.
What does the mirror app do for you?

Yea I'm on Sprint, CDMA. Every app that tries to access the front camera just uses the other rear camera. It's like the second rear camera thinks it's the front.

Everybody I've seen here that had that issue says it is a hardware issue that was fixed by taking the phone in to Sprint. I've never had that issue myself, but just to make sure it is the ICS ROMs, can you flash back to a GB ROM?

That's what I was worried about, I've got Bestbuy insurance and I've heard it's really not as good as they made it seem at purchase. :crying:

We don't know why your front camera dead...Maybe hardware problem, send phone to warranty.

I got my phone from second hand shop (ceX) and it was in good condition, so i cant send my phone off, and ive done nothing to my phone which will cause a hardware damage

Did the front camera worked on your hands before, or you never saw it working?
Have you tried testing it in the service menu?
Dial *#*#7378423#*#* and try to test the camera! This will work if you're on a stock rom.
same happend to me, it was not workiing, after some days i accidentally droped mi phone, and since that day camera s working fine again :laugh:
I got a i717 everything was working fine into 2 weeks ago...my cam stop working all i get is a black screen...but ovoo works gtalk works but i just can switch to the back cam..so i fig the cam went to ****..i went and order a rear cam and still does the same did i miss something do i got to reflash the Rom with the new cam

I did download other cams app from market even instagram did the same thing they all blackscreen then fc i reflash the Rom that's why i order the cam...

The kernel is the bridge between the hardware and the operating system... if that gap isn't bridged the hardware won't function.

As long as it's different.. it's a variable.
Although if I personally swapped hardware I would flash to stock and test it out before going back to a custom set up.

I ordered a replacement part for only $5.99 + shipping. You can find the part here: Witrigs. com Given the price, I suggest you order two. I don't recall the shipping, but it wasn't expensive. Okay so my phone got water damaged. Everything is still working fine, but the camera. I go into the camera app and it just stalls and then says can't connect to camera or just force closes. I am probably going to just install a new camera myself in the phone. However I was wondering if there was a way I could test the front facing camera rather than the rear one to see if that still works. Is there a possible way to bypass the phone from trying to connect to the main camera when going into the camera app.
